Center for Printing

Is there a way to center the information in a Numbers document on a page for printing? When I print something with only a few columns, it starts on the left. I would like to print it in the center. Any thoughts?

Hi Marsha,
Numbers 3.2.2
Menu > Numbers > Preferences... > Rulers > Tick every box.
Menu > View > Show Rulers
Menu > File > Print... (command p)
The panel on the right (Print Setup) shows the paper orientation and size.
For example, A4 paper Portrait shows 210 x 297 mm as the paper size. I don't know why paper size is in mm, when everything else is in cm, but never mind. Write down the paper size.
Set your Page Margins (drag the Print Setup panel up to see Page Margins).
Click on the Done button.
The rulers have disappeared (groan), so Menu > View > Show Rulers.
Calculate the centre of your page. For A4 portrait, 21 cm page width with 2 cm left margin and 2 cm right margin, centre = (21 - 4)/2 = 8.5 cm in from the left margin.
Drag an alignment guide from the vertical ruler to 8.5 cm on the horizontal ruler.
Drag your table to the right so that its centre alignment guide goes "boink" onto the ruler guide. It will now be in the centre of the page. Check with Menu > File > Print... (command p).
The alignment guides won't print.
You can Save As Template for future use.

Ian

I had to do a factory recovery recently. I can print with the HP C7280 without problem from programs. I have had this printer and Solution Center working on this pc prior to the factory recovery and another pc before that.  I have tried now to install my HP Printer All in One Printer Solution Center now twice with fails. I hope the screenshots help.
I have 1) downloaded a new full install - 2) turned off all antivirus - 3) rebooted and restarted the HP Printer - 4) made sure all windows updates have been applied for windows 8.1 - 5) tried following the solutions HP provided but still with fail. The install goes all the way through until the very last "configuring device" ... and then times out. Thank you for any help.

    Hi @lacarottess,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you are looking for the HP Solution Center software for your HP Deskjet F2290 and HP Scanjet 2300c. I am happy to look for this for you!
For your HP Deskjet F2290 printer: the HP Solution Center is found in the full feature software and drivers found at this website, HP Deskjet F2200/F2224 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver, or you can use the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows (recommended).
For your HP Scanjet 2300c: I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it, in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at HP Enterprise Business Community.
    Hope this helps!

  • Problem with installing Solution Center for a HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One Printer - C309g

    Hi folks,
I've searched many threads and found some directions to remedy this, tried them and have had no luck.
I'm running Windows 7.  All updates are current.  When I bought the printer I installed the software (on Windows 7 OS) from the disc and everything was fine.  Fast forward a year and Solution Center stopped working.
Uninstalled all HP software to reinstall.  I was only able to reinstall HP Update.  I was able to load the basic drivers for print and scan, but not the entire software suite including Solution Center.  The installation stops abruptly after "installing updates".
I even downloaded and tried "PS_AIO_06_C309g-m_USW_Full_Win_enu_140_175" and got the same result as the original installation disc.
What can I do with my printer (HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One Printer - C309g)???
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hello Raimonds,
To answer your question, you are not able to check your ink levels from ePrint Center. The only thing that you can do in ePrint Center is monitor the status of your recent print jobs that you send via ePrint and monitor the status of connection of your printer to the ePrint Servers.

  • Cannot download Solution Center for Off Jet 6500 Wireless since going to Windows 8.1

I get a failure message and am unable to download HP full feature software (a.k.a. the "solution center") for my HP Officejet 6500 Wireless on my Aspire E1-571-688 Laptop.   The solution center was successfully downloaded when I got the laptop in August 2013.  It was running fine until I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1.
When I discovered that the solution center would not run, I removed the printer and driver software beofre trying to reinstall.  When trying to get the Solution Center back, I can't get past the download step because during download it "fails".  I was able to download "drivers only" through the "add a printer" option, and I do have printing capability, however I am unable to use the scan function from the laptop (or directly from the 6500).
Weird that I can't get the scan function to work on the unit itself (I get the "no scan options" message when trying to do so) as I have confirmed mutliple times that the printer is successfully connected to the correct network.
    Help please!  Thank you

    Geo,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
You will not have access to the full features of the printer software until you manage to install the Full Feature Software.  Scanning is one of those functions.
The initial Connection to the Internet is indeed part of it -- you need a reliable, clean, consistant connection that will allow you to download the full data file.  Your connection may be dropping out part way through.
You may need to upgrade your network drivers after the Upgrade to Windows 8.1 .  There are other issues can can plague a system after the Upgrade, most are well documented at this point.  You can check with your system's Forum to what others are saying.
Basic Drivers only are much smaller in size -- just a few MBs.
    Random Thoughts..
You need to resolve the network issues so you can download the full software.
You might have a friend download the file onto his computer and transfer the file to your system using a USB stick.  This does not fix your network problems but it does solve at least the issue of not being able to get a hold of the installation package.
You might try taking the computer to a friend's house -- if the issue is not within your computer's network setup, then the Upgrade may have "upset" the relationship between the computer and your home network.

  • Fatal error during installing HP Solution Center for Deskjet F2180

    Hi everyone!
During installation of HP Solution Center for Deskjet F2180 it says "fatal error" - couldn´t write the key to " \SOFTWARE" plus "MSI.GPBaseService2" error.
I tried many times to completely uninstall all this software and delete keys in regedit and reinstall it. I also respected the order: firstly install, after that connect printer. HP Digital Imagiing Monitor is working right but iťs insufficient for me. Maybe there will be some problem with permissions in Windows, who knows. I have just installed Windows 7 Professional 32-bit.
Could you help me to solve it, please? Each response pleases!

  • Why my epson 3800pro doesn't center the print

    Hi,
I have a interesting and very annoying problem. Why my epson 3800 doesn't center the prints on the paper anymore?
Using this printer for more than two years now and all of the sudden regardless the paper size and the settings the i
mages are centerd for an 8 1/2 x 11 ratio. Spent nearly 2 hours on the phone talking to Epson support repairing
disk permission, uninstalling and reinstalling the printer, reconfiguring and so fort. Still, every print is off center.
In the printer dialog everything seems fine; when seting up the printer and paper size the image on the screen
adjust's accordingly but the print still comes out wrong. The technician on the phone suggested - maybe just wanted
to get rid of me - that it's something to do with Photoshop.
Anybody has  an idea what could be wrong?
    Thanks, Janos

Anyhow, here are the images in question. As you can see from the settings am about to print on a Canson 11x14 paper.
Which paper is it? I did a search on the Canson range and could not find an 11x14 paper. The closest I could find is 11x17, like the other paper makers. Did you cut the paper down to 11x14 yourself? If so, Tai Lao has a good question about whether the measurement dimensions of the cut paper are correct, it would be good to double-check.
    monkeyfighterz wrote:
It made me think if there is a paper sensor (is there such thing?) in the printer not functioning?
There is a paper sensor in the 3800 (I use a 3800 too, with no problems centering). The paper sensor is optical, and can be misled by existing ink on the paper. Especially black. Is your paper blank, or something already printed on it? If your paper is already printed with a significant dark area near the edge, the sensor might assume that the paper doesn't actually begin until it finds white. If this causes the printer to change where the print head starts on the paper, this can cause alignment problems.
    Tai Lao wrote:
    "Canson" (Canon?) paper
I'm assuming it's Canson. Canson is one of the traditional European paper makers who have adapted some of their fine art papers for modern inkjet printing. Their product line has been around for about half a millenium.

  • PSE 8 - Can I reposition an image on a page for printing?

I am learning how to print photos using PSE 8 on a Mac running 10.6.4. In PSE 2, when printing I was able to slide a photo around on a page and reposition it for printing. (I could then print the photo on top of the page and then reinsert the paper into the printer and print on the bottom half too.) Is there a way to move a photo around on a page for printing in PSE 8 on a Mac? In PSE 8 Help, under Printing and Sharing Photos > Print Photos > Reposition an Image, it says you can: Choose File > Print and then use "the panning operation" to reposition the image, but I don't know what the "panning operation" is. All I see is an immovable box with the photo inside it. I can move the photo around in the box, but the box does not move with it, so no matter what, the photo (or a part of it) is going to print in the middle of the page it seems. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Try resizing the image before you go into the print dialog.  Then, once you are in the print dialog, uncheck Center Image and you should be able to move it anywhere on the sheet.

  • Auto preparing file for printing Feature (extension)

do you know extension or plug-in for auto preparing a file for print?

now I'm looking for that feature or similar, I know this is not impossible.
    I have a idea but I don't know codes.

    Hello IanHP8500,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're having an issue getting your Officejet 8500 scanning on Windows 8.1. I will do my best to help you with this issue.
Did you upgrade to 8.1 from an older version of Windows?
If so, with it not scanning correctly. You can try just removing the HP Solution Center from programs and features.
Go to the bottom left corner of your screen right click on the Windows icon> go to Control Panel> Go to Programs> uninstall Solution Center if it's listed.
Next, instead of using the printer install wizard. Download the software from this link: HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver. Let it run through, it should prompt to " add more software". This should allow you to reinstall Solution Center.
If you run into issues, there is something you may have to do. If you get a file missing error here, or the install hangs check your computer for the following.
McAfee Live Safe - Disable the "Realtime Scanning".
Check for and remove HPOINS*.dat or HPWINS*.dat. Here is a link to a post by JonW on how to do this: Re: installer setup hangs under Windows 8.1.
Try all of this, and let me know how you make out. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Getting ready for printing...

I have a Canon G12 and shoot in RAW format. I know the native aspect ration for this camera in RAW is 4:3. I also know already that the two sizes of finished prints I am interested in are 8x10 and 16x20. After importing the images from my camera into my computer (and into Aperture), I can see that the pixel dimensions for my RAW images are 3648x2736 for portrait (and vice versa for landscape).
After making whatever color correction and changes to the image, I am happy with what I have. So moving onto the crop and aspect ration and dpi settings - and then the export to have an altered and saved new image to send off for printing - this is where I feel totally lost.
For example...the crop sizes listed, I see 4x5/8x10 - my understand is that these sizes...4x5, 8x10, 16x20 - they are all the exact same aspect ration - so no matter how big or small I want to print the image, as long as I want one of those sizes, it would be fine, correct?
When I initially click on the 4x5/8x10 selection, it puts a small crop area in the center of the photo. But it allows me to drag the corners to enlarge the crop area, so I am curious to know...is the 4x5/8x10 crop area that initial smaller section, or is it still the same even if I click and drag ou the corners making it larger.
Does anyone know also, how/where do I change the dpi to 300?
And lastly, how do I know if I have enough pixels to make an 8x10 or a 16x20. I have RAW files and JPEGS - and they all vary in pixel dimension. Is there a simple process to figure out if what I see on the computer screen will look the same as a finished print?

Excellent questions ... that cover a lot of ground.
    3648 / 2736 = 1.333333333.  The aspect ration is 4:3.
Are you printing from Aperture or sending a file out to be printed?  If printing from Aperture, all you need to do is create a Version that is ready to print, and then print it.  Printing from Aperture is an export-and-print operation -- there is no need to export the file and save it.
(This is worth understanding.  In Aperture, you make Images that are ready to be exported (or printed), but you don't create files (or prints) until you need them.)
The aspect ratio has no units -- it is just a ratio.  It describes not the size of a rectangle, but the ratio of the sides of a rectangle.  4:3, 8:6, 1.33:1 are all identical aspect ratios.
Once you have set the aspect ratio, you can set the size (and position) of your rectangular crop by dragging the crop box handles or the crop box itself.
Generally speaking, you will want at least 150 pixels for each inch to be printed, and don't need more than 300.  150 ppi is a slightly impracticable minimum -- you will likely want to use some sophisticated up-rezing to get a stellar print.  200-250 ppi is enough.  300 ppi is plenty.  All of this is based on norms of printers, ink, papers, and display (distance, lighting) that may or may not fit your needs.
    For a 16" x 20" print that looks good at arm's length 3,200 x 4,000 pixels should suffice.
Aperture includes soft-proofing.  You select a profile of the printer, paper, and the printing settings, and Aperture will apply this to your Image and show you what should be a match.  Soft-proofing is complicated.  At a minimum, you will need a high-quality monitor and hardware calibration.
The User Manual covers much of this in detail particular to Aperture, including a section on Proofing.  Well worth reading.

  • HP solution center for window vista 32 bit and HP 6210

need to download Solution Center for HP office jet 6210 and Windows vista 32 bit. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi mary1929,
HP Solution Center is the main software program that you use to control and maintain HP printers that use version 13 and 14 software. Your printer uses a version of software that came before version 13 and 14. I believe you have something called HP Director. HP introduced HP Solution Center to replace HP Director in 2004.
I did find a document that says you may be able to install software for Vista that includes Solution Center. Please take a look at the information in this document; HP Director and Windows Vista Compatibility. If you recently upgraded to Windows Vista, you will not be able to use HP Director. However, you might be able to upgrade to HP Solution Center in its place.
This might be the software you need; File name: AIO_CDB_Full_Non-Network_enu_NB.exe
I hope this helps. If this does resolve the issue please let me know, if you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.
