Centering a pattern in layer effects CS5

CS5.
is there a way to centre a pattern sample in photoshop in layer effects?
If I scale the pattern it doesnt seem to allow me to centre it, it just grows it left to write and as a top to bottom expansion
Same issue with making a selection and filling it with a pattern.
The only way to get a single copy of the pattern is to use EDIT/FILL, then crop it via selection.
But I want to get a single sample of the pattern block via a layer effect fill.
any ideas thankyou,

With the dialog open just click and drag the Pattern on the canvas.

  • Importing a video layer from photoshop cs5 to after effects cs5

hi - you guys were so brilliant and prompt on answering my last question. thankyou
i did have another i needed help with -
is it possible to bring in a video layer from photoshop cs5 to after effects cs5 - i tried but it said "the photoshop library operation failed because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop"
    thanks again

In the import dialog box, uncheck the Photoshop Sequence option.
The problem is the number on the end of your file name.  When After Effects sees a number there, and there are other files in that directory with the same name and a number, it thinks the images are part of a sequence and will enable that checkbox.

  • PLEASE HELP!! Weird screen glitch in After Effects CS5.5?!? (Windows 7)

I was editing some videos in the trial of After Effects CS5.5, and I went to render something in full screen (I've been using it for two weeks now, and i've rendered in full screen before) and suddenly a bunch of error messages started popping up,and After Effects closed out. Now every time I open After Effects, its like the screen zooms in: I can't see my taskbar or my tools for after effects, or anything on the edges at all. Production Premiere and everything else works fine, but After Effects is always like this now. I've searched all the help centers, and google, and youtube, and I've found nothing. I also tried unistalling and reinstalling the Master Collection trial but it still came up in full screen.
PLEASE HELP I only have 12 days left on trial and I'm trying to finish one last video.

Try deleting your preferences. If that doesn't do it, Reboot, Use the Adobe Cleaner Tool, then re-install AE. If that doesn't work let us know. It's probably your preferences.

  • Using Adobe After Effects CS5- Trouble with Echo & 3D Camera

    Hi
i'm using Effects CS5 to a create a set of superman esque titles implementing the method found in the link below
    www://vimeo.com/6562241
Everything goes smootlhy until i try making additional changes to the animation.
Here's my problem, since this process requires echo to achieve the effect. I try and set an independant camera motion from the text as it extrudes outward. But...once the text begins its animation and the camera starts to move the echo or the extrusion is ALWAYS...ALWAYS altered by the camera. (The path of the echo is follows the path of the camera.) Whether it's in a x, y, or z path it still occurs.
Sure i can change the camera angle and view it from a different perspective stationary, but i can't get them to move independant paths from each other without thecho being altered as well.
IF ANYONE OUT THERE IS A WIZ AT ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS PLEASE PLEASE RESPOND

Pre-compose the layer, then move the camera. Won't give you correct perspective, though. After all, Echo is simply a 2D buffer accumulation, not a 3D extrusion.

  • Any new ideas or suggestions for flattening layer effects without changing appearance

    Hello all,
I've been doing a lot of looking around for ideas on how to make my work flow more simple. I regularly run into an issue with layer effects when they are flattened and have been unable to find any good solutions but was wondering if any new developments have come up with the newer versions of Photoshop that I am somehow overlooking?
My main issue is that when I flatten layers in sections or groups (i.e. flatten only 2 or more layers together in a larger composition but not the entire compostion), layer effects with blending modes often flatten strangely. I particularly notice this with drop shadows as I often use a color other than black, usually a very dark shade of the color that is applied to the element the shadow is overlapping. To me it gives it a much more realistic and natural look. When I flatten a layer I notice that it appears the multiply mode is stripped from drop shadow FX unless they are flattened with the nackground element, so if I used a dark blue for example, once flattened the shadow is now a distinct blue shade that appears to be in normal blending mode. I can set that drop shadow layer to multiply to restore it but then I have to keep the drop shadow element on it's own layer seperate from the body of the other flattened content otherwise it inherits the multipoy mode as well of course, which still leaves me with an unwanted layer to deal with.
My curreny solutions range from hiding all other layers and merging visible, which works from some things but not the aforementioned drop shadow issue, I will also keep things that just don't co-operate on their own seperate layer, like the drop shadow and just leave them be if I can. In cases where that isn't an option I will even hide all other layers and comp the portion of the PSD  that needs flattened to a seperate TIFF or PNG and import back into the PSD. Sometimes this will work around the issue and make everything interact as desired. It's a lenghty affair though that involves mental acrobatics every time to devise a suitable workaround that I can use for my purposes.
The reason I need to do this often is because I work for a web development company as the designer. Once the design is done sometimes I will do the slicing and prepping for web (not an issue when I do this because I can leave everything as a PSD). When other team members like the web developer need access to the graphics files though, they use Fireworks which means I need a layered PNG so they can slice as needed with the software they are familiar with while maintining transparency where needed.
I know some will say just to use Fireworks then but that isn't a desireable solution to me because I find Fireworks very limiting on the advanced Fx and graphic manipulation. I agree that Fireworks can be very capable and can do very nice things when you're thinking of the design of the entire site in general, but it usually can't do the advanced fx and manipulation I like to use for the "eye candy" portions of the site, especially when you are using mutiple Fx on a layer with their own blending modes. I find it more of a hassle to build a general site in Fireworks and import elements from Phoroshop. Keeping track of proper sizing and constantly loading placeholder background images to photoshop for reference isn't for me!
I have a pretty decent understanding of how the layer flattening works and how the blending modes function (like the fact you can't have mutiple blending modes on a single layer, thus many of the issues with layer Fx blending modes). I am using CS5.5 Design premium and am hoping there have been some advances in working with this type of thing. I know that if I could flatten the drop shadow layer with the layer it overlaps that would solve the issue nicely but this is seldom possible on websites where you have fluid areas that need to change size and the image element with the drop shadow may not always be in the same place on the site background.
It would be awesome if, since you have the ability to apply blending modes to individual layer effects, if Photoshop could have a setting to somehow flatten the layer effects and layer in it's own self containted process and then place the flattened layer within the the PSD as if you imported a transparent image like a TIFF or PNG. This is basically what I do on the extreme side of tihngs manually when needed. It would be great if there was a way to automate that type of functionality.
Does anyone know of any new or good method to deal with this type of thing? Sorry about the long post, I was trying to be as detailed as possible as I know it's sometimes easy to misunderstand what someone is asking with this type of question. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read/respond!

    Hi Noel,
Thanks for the reply. The reason I need to do things this way is because of the workflow at my company. I need to be able to convert my photoshop PSD files in Fireworks and have the layers behave predictably. Trying to open a PSD file as is in Fireworks, while keeping the layer flexibility intact usually creates all kinds of chaos, ranging from Fireworks flat out ignoring some layer effects to drastically changing them. I assume because Fireworks way of intrepreting some setting numerically is different than Photoshop and because Fireworks doesn't even have some of the effect properties at all.
The web developers need to have layered PNG files so they can slice re-slice and move elements around as needed white they develop a website. They need to maintain transparency on the seperate elements of the website mockup so that they can reuse and move elements around as needed. At times I end up doing the CSS layout on a site and in those cases it doesn't matter becuase I can work straight from the PSD and export elements straight to PNG files etc as needed. It's when I need to provide the development team with a Fireworks PNG version of the website mockup that I have these issues.
For example and to clarify, I may have a website interface designed that has several fancy buttons or a header element with drop shadows on them or that overlap a background element in some way. If I am doing the coding on the site I can simply hide all other layers than the releveant ones, flatten visible to maintain transparency, save for web etc and I have the element complete with a nice drop shadow ready to drop into the code. If the developers are doing the slicing and layout though, they don't know how to use Photoshop (and aren't going to be learning anytime soon) but they do use Fireworks... so they want the site in fireworks, complete with the ability to hide background elements or other parts of the site that may be in the way of making the proper PNG for that button or other element that maintains transparency AND keeps the drop shadow, the proper color and transparency as well.
What typically happens if I don't flatten each element of the site design before importing into Fireworks is that it will look very different in Fireworks, but being web developers (lol!) they don't notice or maybe even care that something looks weird or appears to be missing a shadow or other effect. Then once the site goes live, the client DOES notice it and I end up scrambling to fix the issue. That usually means going back to the PSD in a rush and trying to flatten all the elements anyway to convert to a nice Fireworks PNG so they can recapture their slices, or taking the slice they used on the website and pasting it into the PSD original so I can make a direct match and converting the element myself after the fact.
In order to avoid these work flow issues and embarrassments I have taken to flattening each individual element (i.e. a button and all of it's effects) of website GUI to ensure Fireworks can't fiddle with it on import. I can then give the web developers a PNG they can slice easily but with all the important elements still completely seperate from one another. If they hide the layer that is the shopping cart button for example, they are going to be hiding the button and it's drop shadow or glow or any other effects. That way it can't be messed up by Fireworks or a developer. With buttons in particular I can't just include a portion of the background where the drop shadow would be becuase that button could end up anywhere on the site in the end. One of the features our business offers clients is a fair amount of flexibility on the CMS side of things to move elements around and create new sections of the site so I need to keep most elements as felxible as possible, preferrably without giving up quality of the artwork.
I feel like I have a fairly solid understanding of why the layer effects act the way they do and how they interact, even if I don't understand fully the math that makes them do what they do. I guess I was hoping that the increasing power in the CS suites, especially in 5 and 5.5 might have made some new work around possible, or that they might have added some feature buried in the menus somewhere because it's not that practicle for many users. I have several ways to work around these issues now, but they are manual and cumbersome, I was hoping there might have been an action script or feature to automate some of this.
I think a really cool thing to be able to do would be to be able to select some layers and have Photoshop copy them and paste them into a new document with their layer styles and all intact, flatten that document with transparency intact and then put the new flattened file back into the original document in the same location on the artboard as a new layer. This is essentially what I do when I hide all the other layers, merge visible and save as a TIFF or PNG and then copy that new file back into my full PSD document. I still experience some color shifting this way but usually not as drastic as when I try to merge directly in the full PSD. OR if that can't work, even better would be to somehow have the effects be able to "float" with the actual photoshop layer, almost like sub layers of that layer, so that each one could have it's own blending mode (and individual masks for each... that would be awesome!) and you could flatten them together somehow when needed and maintain color tones etc. Don't know if this could work though since I don't know what the limitations of the math process that combines the layers are. I would imagine some of it it would be possible, if not worth their time, since smart objects open in their own document window when you edit. I would imagine that some code work on the back end might be able to be applied using a similar method to give extra flexbility of some layer effects in Photoshop. I would love it, I know that!
Hopefully there is at least as faster way if not an ideal work around. It defintely adds to the development cycle of a website to have to go through this step. It's also at a point in the development cycle where the site has been approved and there can be added pressure about why they development team still has to wait on a design that has already been OK'd and should be ready to slice. I have gained understanding with my boss about this and it's worked out OK for the most part, but it would certainly make him happier if I could eliminate that extra step, or reduce the time needed. On a complicated website I might lose half a day of work or more sorting out the various site elements and figuring out how much I can flatten and how and what order to break effects off their layers to maintain appearance. I have tried Fireworks several times as a native solution, but ultimately I feel very restricted by Fireworks and often can't do what I had in mind, although it has gotten better. Also on a psychological level, Fireworks "working with basic shapes" method of desigining a website tends to steer me down that mental path for some reason and I always end up with sites that look much less fluid and organi, much more boxy than when I design in Photoshop. One of our companies selling points is that we design sites that break away from the boxy and simpler web 2.0 look so Fireworks is not really a consideration for me at this point. Thanks again for the help and any respones!

  • After effects cs5 crashing - dynamiclinkmanager, Language registry key, Ivideosource

    Hey everyone,
I'm running After Effects CS5 (10.0.2 - most up to date) in OSX 10.6.8 on a Mac Pro tower
    2x2.66 ghz dual-core Intel Xenon
    7gb DDR2
    ATI Radeon x1900 XT 512mb
    Dual monitors
I keep getting the following error messages, most frequent to least
    <140735089106112> <5> /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/dynamiclink/CS5/dyanmiclinkmanager.app.
<140735243008352> <ASL.ResourceUtils.GetLanguageIDFromRegistry> <0> Unable to obtain the User 'Language' registry key at: Software\Adobe\After Effects\10.5.1\ Defaulting to 'en_US'.
    <140735089106112> <Ivideosource> <5> AE push total_frames 180, MC pull frames w/safety margin 180, margin 0.
I have also gotten other error messages pertaining to these problems invovling the gaussian blur filter and some pdf error.
After Effects error: crash occured while invoking effect plug-in "Gaussian Blur".
After Effects error: There was an error processing this PDF Document. (1074397201) ( 50 :: 29 )
I am working with AI files, some have been converted to footage, some still AI - continously rasterizing. I even cleared all AI files out to see if they might have been the problem, still crashing. File works fine on PC. Have reinstalled twice. Need to stay on cs5 because I'm working on files with others.
Crashes randomly in a variety of processes such as scrubbing the time, RAM previews, composing, etc. I have tried resetting all preferences, deleting prefs manually, and some open GL things.
Would cs5.5 or 6 work? We have additional licenses for both. Could also upgrade to mountain lion?
Any other solutions or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Trying to get work done for a client and have tried running AE CS5 on OSX 10.6.8 on a macbook pro - getting the same problems, and its not the file (fine on pc).

Well, I see the letters "PDF" in the error message, and that's where I smell the rat.
Illustrator can open PDF's: just choose the page you want for multiple-page PDF's.  Then make any necessary changes, and save as an RGB Illustrator document.  Backsave to an earlier Illustrator version if you can.
You can even sort the PDF out into separate Illustrator LAYERS -- not shapes or groups -- which can be used in AE as layers.  Very handy.  Just make sure to create a new layer in Illustrator; most hard-core Illustrator users who aren't used to AE tend to overlook that nifty little feature.

  • Video not importing correctly into After Effects CS5

I just downloaded a trial version of After Effects CS5 to work on a couple corporate videos, but I'm having issues importing the footage (.WMV). When I try to import, I get a message saying that there is an unnamed alpha layer (with a few options on how to fix the alpha layer). Regardless of the option I choose, only the bottom half of my footage imports. It looks like this.
    How can I fix this?

Probably an issue with whatever created the files in the first place. WMV doesn't have Alpha, but can have multiple streams... anyway, AE is crap at dealing with such stuff, so convert it using an external tool like Handbrake or whatever...

  • After Effect CS5.5_Pen tool problem: No Handles display, can't creat straight line

    Hi,
I wonder why in After effects CS5.5, the pen tool doesn't work correctly!
    1. "no handles display", ex: when I click an area whilst holding the mouse and clicking / or hold Alt and clicking the point in order to see the handles.
    2. cannot make "straight line", neither can I make 45 degree coner while holding the shift key clicking.
I coud use it before, but now it no longer work. I tried "the pen tool" in photoshop cs5.1 it works very well.
    Is there any solution?
    Thanks

    Thanks Rick,
    1. Do you have the View Options setup correctly?
Yes, I guess. Beacuse everything is checked.
2.Have you hidden the layer controls?
    No.
    Are you using Roto Bezier?
    No.
3....If it's not try trashing your prefs.
How do you trash the prefs?
I didn't modify any setting in the prefs.
Btw, what does that title stand for "community professional"? Are you working for Adobe?

  • After Effects CS5 timewarp troubles

    Hello all,
Was hoping someone could help me out with a wierd problem I am having trying to apply timewarp with after effects CS5.
I have previously used it for high quality slow motion using the pixel motion option in PPro CS4. Heres what I do.
While in PPro CS5 i would select the small portion(clip) I wish to apply the timewarp to and use the "Replace with after effects composition option." This opens the clip in after affects as normal and is fine at that point. My selected clip appears on the AE timeline ready to play with. Now....
When I apply the "Time Warp" effect, the clip on the timeline changes to a completely different one. I don't mean it changes to a different point on the clip that was imported, I mean it changes to a completely different clip where the footage I wanted to apply it to isn't even available. As soon as I delete the time warp effect the original clip returns. This has happened to me now on my last 3 projects.
If anyone has any ideas where I may be going wrong I would appreciate it. But as it is at the moment I can't use timewarp.
    Thanks
    John

This is in reply to OP J Maggs and RustedX:
Hey guys I feel your pain. I am taking the time to reply just because I had the SAME problem and researched all over the internet and wasn't available to find much specifically about my case which it seems to be EXACTLY what happens/ed to RustedX.
I've got a 16 seconds clip, shot with a Canon 7D at 1280x720 60fps. I wanted to slow it down to 5% with After Effects CS4's Timewarp. So, because I tried the same effect with Apple Motion (with success), I knew the new time of the clip was going to be 5:30 minutes long. So I changed my comp time from 16 seconds to 5:30 minutes. I dropped the clip in to my comp timeline (which showed me a little 16 seconds clip into my 5:30 minutes comp) and applied the Timewarp effect to my new layer. It did slowed it down but still the clip on the layer was at 5% but only for 16 seconds. Meaning it should had been a 5:30 minutes clip, but stayed slowed down at 5% for only 16 seconds. So, I sent to render because I thought 4gb or ram probably wasn't enough or something, and it came out a nice 5:30 minutes long clip with 16 seconds of slow motion at 5% and the rest of the clip is completely black.
I wasn't UNABLE to extend that @#$%!V little clip on my time line. I used all the methods I know (even the ones posted at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/aftereffects/cs/using/WS3878526689cb91655866c1103906c6dea-7e70 a.html [although are for CS5]), but I had no luck. I am not sure, perhaps I did not perform those properly.
It took me almost 3 days of research now (in and out of course), but finally I found a solution (at least for my case) and I am posting it here now in hope it will help more people with the same issue.
    What finally worked was this:
I selected my layer with the clip on my timeline, and I right clicked on the layer not the comp and selected Time -> Enable Time Remapping
    And voula!
My layer with the clip was extended all the way until the end of my comp and was able to preview the results as I was scrolling over the time line.
My goodness, finally! What a relief after all those hours of surfing the web for an specific answer
Oh well, I hope this helps some else!!
    Have a great Timewarping guys!!

  • A Bug in layer effects?

    Hi,
Hopefully the animated gif is self explanatory. (edit: looks like animated GIFs don't work so have included each frame as a separate image).
I have used a layer effect to draw a stroke inside the border of an image and all I would like to do is to hide it at a certain point in time.
If I hide the layer effect it does exactly as I would like.
But if I try to reduce the opacity to 0 then instead of viewing the image behind it crops the image.
My only solution appears to be to set the stroke OUTSIDE the images, but I would REALLY REALLY like to avoid this as there are many, many precomps from photoshop that I've produced with the stroke inside.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
AE CS6, by the way. 11.0.2.11
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Thanks Szalam,
I took your advice & upgraded - now running 11.0.4.2
Crossed fingers and tried opacity again.
    No luck
Thanks for the suggestion anyway — like you say it was worth a shot.
If any one else has any recommendations, or workarounds i'd be very glad of them.
    Chris

  • Adobe Download Assistant communication error(Error 107) only when I download After Effects CS5.5

I've been trying to download the After Effects CS5.5 Trial for over a month now and it is really frustrating because I don't have a problem downloading any other adobe trial just After Effects CS5.5, it says I have a communication error (Error 107) and I know I really don't because I can download any other trial from Adobe Download Assistant. I reallly need help to try to download this program. I don't know if it is that I'm in another country, my server, or something relevant but i would really aprecite it if you could tell me why this is happening.

I would recommend reviewing this thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/4274824#4274824.   Please try the solutions listed within the thread to resolve your difficulties.

  • Sony NEX-5N AVCHD 2.0 1080p50 and Premiere Pro/After Effects CS5.5

    Hi all,
I have a new Sony NEX-5N and have shot some test 1080p50 video using it.
On my quest for some new editing/production software to close the loop I have just downloaded and installed a Trial Version of CS5.5 Production Premium.
I am able to load my video files into Premiere Pro.
However, when I attempt to open the Video File in After Effects, I recieve the following Error message:
After Effects error: '00023.MTS' cannot be imported - this '.mts' file is damaged or unsupported.
I have tried renaming the extension to .MPG, .M4V, .M2TS all with exactly the same result.
Perhaps this is a limitation of the Trial Version or perhaps a limitation of After Effects CS5.5.  Is anyone able to advise?
As extra information I include below the TEXT output from MediaInfo for the file I am able to load into Premiere Pro CS5.5 but not After Effects.
    Thanks.

I just recorded 4 seconds of a clock pendulum swinging, surprisingly the file was 20Mb!?!?  Anyway, I have made the file available for download at the following location:
    http://andrew.net.au/~rowan/avchd/00032.MTS

I am hoping it is a limitation of the trial as I have noticed a few other "gotchas" with the trial version.
Thanks for the advice about video format, I have noticed that my computer (Core 2 Duo) is very slow to process the H.264 stream, PremierePro cannot play the 30sec stream in realtime (starts to stutter around 23sec) and After Effects starts its stutter almost immediately (both just playing the stream with no effects) - that said WindowsMediaPlayer has no problem playing the same stream at full speed.  I am however reluctant to do any transcoding except to a lossless format as it seems counter intuitive - but this will be the subject of another post, as I don't want to clutter this one.
    Thanks again.

  • Mac OS 10.7 (Lion) won't start After Effects CS5.5 because it's a powerpc app!?

I've had CS 5.5 Master Collection installed on my Mac since it came out. All the CS 5/5.5 apps I've used up to now have worked fine, in 64-bit mode (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, InDesign). Now I need to use After Effects, but I can't get it to start.
First it said it couldn't rename a Workspaces.xml file in the preferences directory in my home folder. In fact, there was no such file there at all. Nothing to rename. So, I uninstalled After Effects using its uninstaller; then reinstalled it from the install DVDs.
Now, it fails on startup saying the After Effects CS5.5 application cannot be run because PowerPC apps are no longer supported. True: OS X no longer runs apps that require Rosetta. CS 5.5 is does not require Rosetta; it's compatible with Lion. The OS 10.7 Known Issues KB article says nothing about After Effects: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/905/cpsid_90508.html?promoid=JBQYY
So...what's going on? I need this thing working for a project with a deadline! I don't get it. Anybody seen this before? (I didn't find anything in the discussions about it, nor Google...)

Interesting article, but I knew I was leaving PowerPC apps behind when I moved to OS 10.7, and Adobe claims that After Effects CS 5.5 is fully compatible with Lion. But you must be right about prefs; there's gotta be something causing the Mac OS to think this version of CS is ancient...
Since my initial message, I've tried and failed to find any details about how to select the right prefs to delete. I also ran Disk Utility to repair permissions on my system drive. That got rid of the PowerPC error:) Now on startup AE says mediacore fails to initialize. I can choose to quit or continue on that error, but continuing just results in another error that says dynamiclinkmanager unexpectedly quit, and then AE locks up and I have to force quit it. Not much progress!
No other answers on this so far... Before I uninstall the entire Creative Suite and then delete all Adobe system and hidden files everywhere, any more suggestions? Or a list of the right prefs I should trash?

  • Required Directory. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS5.5\Support Files\Required

That is the error i get when i open After Effects CS5.5 it hapens shortly after it shows me that purple square thing in the middle. then it says to go here. someone help me it worked before i noticed i needed to update. I was on CS5 for the longest time and i did the update for CS5.5 and now its not working!

We need more info on your system. Not much point to it otherwise. Also did you attempt a reinstall? Run as admin? turn off security stuff?

  • MBP 17" 2,3 GHz - After Effects CS5.5 is not usable - too slow

    Hey!
I am a motiongraphics artist working mainly with After Effects CS5.5. I am coming from PC and I am quite new to the Mac-World. But for now I am not really satisfied - actually very disappointed. I have worked the last three years on a cheapo Acer Laptop - and I really have to say it was at least (I am not kidding!) twice as fast as my new MBP mid 2011. The other Adobe Apps don't run that good either - though I have to say I haven't had to work with them as much as with AE 5.5.
To name one thing that is really slow: Ram Preview, in the first place it takes ages per frame to render it, then mostly when it's done with rendering it is not played in realtime (more 1,2 fps ... in this range). So it's really not fun to work with this combination MBP + AE.
This can't be. The Macbook was 4x as expensive. And was build 3 years later. What's wrong with the Macbook?
    My Specs:
2,3 GHz MBP mid 2011, 4 GB Ram (going to be 8 GB soon), 750 GB HDD, Hi-Res 17" Matte, OS X 10.6.7
I already tried running Windows 7 on this Macbook it was so terrible that I was kinda frightend and really just wanted to bring it back to the shop. But maybe there is some way I can fix this?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Cheers!

And  I always thought OS X / Apple Hardware was the way to go in the video-business. Obviously I was wrong all along.
The problem is OSX Lion not the specs of the hardware or CS5.x
If you can manage to revert the OS back to Snow Leopard ( which also can run 64bit software ), I bet your issues will be fixed.
And if you want to give Apples own Video-software a shot, then stay away from FinalCut X which has the same "quality" like the Lion..
Sorry, just saw that you have no Lion, I was redirected here from within Lions forum..
