CentOS-4.2-x86_64

I have an installation problem with CentOS-4.2-x86_64 on my Compaq computer. I get an error during installation which means I do get the local-disk driver bundled up with the this release of the OS for my Compaq PC. Here is the error message:
An error has occurred; no valid devices were found on which to create new file systems. Please check your hardware for the cause of this problem.
BTW, I don't have this problem when I install Centos4.4 as the drive gets recognized and partitioning gets underway; but I must use Centos4.2 for firewire driver reasons, which Cenots4.4 does not have... so, it's a catch-22 problem...
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Vil

Hi Jer:
I am not sure how to make a driver disk. Where would be my source for drivers, what would the driver be called, and how would I install the driver?
I have all four iso images that I burned into a CD and that's all I have (CentOS 4.2 64 bit).
I know for a fact that because my hardware is brand new and came with a serial hard drive (ATA), and, apparently, VenOS 4.2 supports/has drivers for IDE drives (older drive technology) alone. The question is where to get and incorporate driver for ATA drives
into 4.2 -- Centos 4.4 has the driver, and I must stick to 4.2.
Thx,
Vil

    Hi;
    Could somebody suggest me any documents for installing Oracle 10.2 on CentOS 6.2(Linux x86-64). CentOS is a freely available Linux distribution that is community supported and designed to be similar to Red Hat Enterprise Linux. It is not specifically sold by, or endorsed, by Red Hat Linux.
    CentOS is not a certified and supported operating system for Oracle RDBMS software and there are no plans to add support for CentOS. Supported operating systems are listed in the 11gR2 Oracle Installation Guide in chapter 3.
    Found few documents in metalink but they are for RHEL 5.
    Can I follow the same, or are there any extra OS changes required for release 6.2.Please use OEL 5.x for your installation which is certifed and which you can download from e-delivery oracle site freely.
    PS:Please dont forget to change thread status to answered if it possible when u belive your thread has been answered, it pretend to lose time of other forums user while they are searching open question which is not answered,thanks for understanding

  • X86_64 v10.1.0.1 or X86 (32-bit) v10.1.0.3?

    I'm about to install a new Secure Backup server -- OS is CentOS 4.4 x86_64. I see the only x86_64 version is 10.1.0.1. There is a linux 32-bit version with a higher rev-level.
    Which should I install - 64-bit or 32-bit?

    I got an answer to this from Oracle Support. I actually spoke to a person that used to work for Reliaty (the company Oracle bought to get OSB).
    The answer is that the patch levels changed each time they released a new platform. The software is identical. This is different from the way Oracle handles other software.
    So, use the appropriate platform and don't worry about the patch levels.
    They hope to get everything at the same level eventually.

    I had the same problem on CentOS 6.2 x86_64, albeit not on EC2. It seems that the installer creates a symlink to the i686 libpcap (libcap.so.1 -> /lib/libcap.so.2) and fmsedge won't run with it. Manually removing that symlink and instead linking to the libcap.so.2 in /lib64 solved the problem for me.

    I'm trying to install 10gr2 on centos 6.3 x86_64 bit system.If this is not a typo, you should be aware that 10gR2 is not certified to run on RHEL/OL/CentOS 6. You should use CentOS 5 and follow the pre-requisites for the installer. The first version of database certified to run on RHEL/OL/C6 is 11gR2 11.2.0.3.
    Regardless of whether you actually have the pre-reqs installed properly, any version prior to 11.2.0.3 will probably always fail the pre-req check on 6.

       Dear Adobe I can find instructions and a list of needed  for modifying Apache to work with HLS for Apple/IOS devices. However I cannot use .dll on Linux but I can possibly use the .so files ....so can you verify that FMS 4.5  HLS  for Apple/IOS devices works on Linux by installing just the  3 .so files below? If it is in short why don't i need the .dll? Please answer so I don't spend days trying to install FMS 4.5 in a way that is not documented or tested by you. • 32 bit Firefox Segmentation fault on 64 bit host

    Hi,
    I'm running CentOS 5.2 x86_64 (64 bit). I've done may
    installs and got flash working using a 32bit firefox.
    This is a newly installed host and I have a 32 bit firefox
    installed yet flash 10 always causes a segmentation fault when I
    access a web page that has flash content.
    strace on firefox shows:
    write(2, "/usr/lib/firefox-3.0.4/run-mozil"...,
    97/usr/lib/firefox-3.0.4/run-mozilla.sh: line 131: 6278

    I can't see the problem. As I said previously, I've had
    firefox and flash (32bit) working perfectly happliy on 64 bit
    before but it is now broken.
    Any with any clues?
    Thanks in advance.

    Pl post details of exact OS, database and client versions.
    Yes, you can install 32-bit client software, as long as you use a separate ORACLE_BASE and ORACLE_HOME to do so.

  • Live webcam video becomes choppy after 600 connections per stream

    Hi!
    Server conf:
    2 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU           L5410  @ 2.33GHz
    16Gb RAM
    2 Gbit ethernet channel
    OS - Linux CentOS 5.5 x86_64
    FMS4 Interactive
    Live stream parameters:
    320х240
    qua_=87
    bw_=200000
    kf_=5
    fps_=18
    So, after approximately 600 connections to one stream video becomes choppy (periodically freeze, slow motions). CPU-usage at this time is 100-120% (maximum is 800%, 100% per each core), network usage is 500 Mbit/sec.
    But second live stream(with few connections) at this server looks fine simultaneously with 600 connections at first stream.
    Experiments with recommendation in "Configuring performance features" documentation chapter(enabling/disabling  aggregate messages and configure the size of stream chunks) do not help.
    Please, help me to find bottleneck!
    Thanks for answers.
    Apologisw my english.

    What Flash Player version are you using at client-side?? have you tried changing the FP to the latest (in case if you are already using latest FP, then try to switch to some previous version)  and see if this issue still remains?

  • FPGA: Xilinx Versions supported by Linux Version

    We do projects that cover many different versions of LabVIEW and therefore LabVIEW FPGA.  We recently setup a Linux Compile Worker and a Compile Farm Server.  We would like to use this worker for as many types of compiles as possible.  To this point we've been able to find 13.4, 13.4(64-bit), 14.4, and 14.4(64-bit) Xilinix tools for the Linux compiler worker.  Are the other Xilinx compile toolkits that have been used by LabVIEW FPGA available?  More specifically I'm looking for 10.1, 12.4, and 12.4(64-bit).
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Hi TJ,
    Thanks a lot for your efforts! Following your suggestions I tried Centos 6.6 with the following results:
    I installed a VM with the "CentOS-6.6-x86_64-netinstall.iso" and chose the "Software Development Option". After system setup I installed all availlable updates. Giflib seems to be included in the "Software Development Option":
    [root@localhost rs6082]# more /etc/*-release
    /etc/centos-release
    CentOS release 6.6 (Final)
    [root@localhost rs6082]# uname -r
    2.6.32-504.16.2.el6.x86_64
    [root@localhost rs6082]# yum install giflib
    Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit, security

    Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
     * base: ftp.fau.de
     * extras: centos.bio.lmu.de

    Package giflib-4.1.6-3.1.el6.x86_64 already installed and latest version
    Nothing to do
    After that I installed compile worker for LV2013SP1 (Xilinx 14.4) and tested it with a compile of an empty FPGA-VI. Connection to FPGA compile server worked without problems. But compilation worked only after installation of the additional packages from your other post:
    yum -y update glib2 libuuid
    yum -y install glibc.i686 libstdc++.i686 libgcc.i686 libuuid.i686 zlib.i686 glib2.i686 libSM.i686 libXi.i686 libXrender.i686 libXrandr.i686 freetype.i686 fontconfig.i686
    Then I installed LV2014SP1 (Xilinx 14.7) and again it killed the older version ...
    The Xilinx 13.4 - Tools are to my knowledge part of LV2012SP1. I haven't been able to install this version due to the problems described in this post.
    I did not try your suggestion there to build the mono-packages from source so far. I assume I tried with the wrong installer, meant for RHEL5.6. Download of Xilinx13.3 SP1 still needs some hours...
    I try your combination 13.4 + 14.7 as soon as possible.
    Regards
    Reinhard
