Expand a Stand-Alone Primary Site into a Hierarchy with a Central Administration Site
I have a stand alone SCCM server in my Lab. Now I need to install a CAS and add the stand alone SCCM site to the hierarchy.
As I have searched on Google the steps are quite simpler I have followed the below link for doing the same.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj591551.aspx
http://www.scconfigmgr.com/2013/05/03/install-a-configmgr-2012-sp1-central-administration-site/
But when i click on install, the installation failed at this particular step:-
In the log file below is the error I received:-
I am only using a single Domain account throughout the environment and SQL and SCCM has been installed with the very same account.
Stand alone site has been installed on the default SQL instance and I have created a named instance "CAS" for CAS installation on the very same SQL Server. The domain account has sufficient rights on the SQL and the Machine accounts have the local
admin privileges both for CAS and stand alone and also on SQL.
Gaurav RanjanHi,
Have you disabled the firewall?
You could create a UDL file to test connectivity between machines (See

what should i do?
please help me.. Thanks in Advanced
When i was checking EventViewer , i saw an Event log :
The Forefront Identity Manager Service cannot connect to the SQL Database Server. The SQL Server could not be contacted. The connection failure may be due to a network failure, firewall configuration error, or other connection issue. Additionally,
the SQL Server connection information could be configured incorrectly. Verify that the SQL Server is reachable from the Forefront Identity Manager Service computer. Ensure that SQL Server is running, that the network connection is active, and that the firewall
is configured properly. Last, verify the connection information has been configured properly. This configuration is stored in the Windows Registry.
Is there any relation between this message And my Problem!!!???hi Mr Thuan
Soldier
i checked
some of your Solution like SQLService (Was OK) , Allow Remote connection (was OK & has check mark), Restart SqlService (Done Successfully), Network Card Driver (my Connection is OK) before , but didnot check SQL

People Picker in Central Administration on change Site Collection Administrator page.
Hi there
We are coming to the end of our rope here.
We have a problem where the people picker is not working in Central Administration, particularly the change Site Collection administrator page. It simply does nothing but hang the page, it doesn't even give the red squigglies. The search dialogue boxes also
hangs. It works in other parts of Central Administration.
The environment has 2 domains with one way trust between them and the peoplepicker-searchadforest attribute is set.
Any suggestions?Hi Chad,
Did this issue only happen to the "_admin/owners.aspx" page for your Central Administration site?
Please compare the peoplepicker-searchadforest attribute for your Central Administration web applicaiton with other working web application, see if they are the same ( iisreset may need for your Central Administration ).
Also check
ULS log for more related error message (also try others may like "developer dashboard","fiddler", ect.) recoreded when this issue occurs.
Thanks

Central Admin site won't let anyone log in.
I am trying to set up our production multi-server farm. I have run the configuration wizard after creating the configuration database manually using powershell, and Central Administration site loads fine when opened directly from the application server
which it is hosted on while logged in as the setup user account. However, if i am on any other server or machine, it prompts for credentials and doesn't accept anything. Also, if i am on the application server hosting the central administration
site, and i try to sign in as the farm administrator account, it will not accept those credentials. It won't even then accept the setup users credentials. I have to close IE then re-open the central administration page in order to be able to administer
anything.
Here is a little more information:
I already ran through the same type of installation on a sandbox machine in a single server environment, and it was working fine. The only major difference at this time is that i am using separate accounts for the setup user and the farm administrator.
I have tried to push forward with my deployment, however, i get an error when trying to set up the search service. After running a set-spenterpriseSearchService command i get an error: "The specified credentials are invalid"
I am using Kerberos authentication just like i did on the sandbox, and i have set up the SPNs for the SQL service account, farm admin account, application pool account, and the setup user account just in case.
I am at a complete loss on this one, it seems like it is not able to validate any credentials, but i don't know how to verify that at all. I did try to verify kerberos was working, but i didn't see any security logs regarding verification of any account
at all, so i don't technically know if kerberos is working or not.
Please help. Thanks. From the login issue you described in your last post, this sounds a lot like a Kerberos configuraiton issue. IIS will challenge for Basic, NTLM, and Negotiate protocols before issuing an access denied message (which it appears you were not even getting).
So, you may want to run the get commands from the KB article I posted to check the CA web site to see if only NTLM is configured which could cause the problem. The cscript commands in the KB I posted still work on IIS 7. I used them in Beta to
fix the triple login prompt I was getting from Central Admin. Regardless, when you have a Kerberos issue, you need to check multiple facets of the configuration:
Account trusted for delegation in AD?
Computer trusted for delegation in AD?
No duplicate or missing SPNs (ldifde or setspn -l commands can provide listings)?
IIS Web Sites configured for Negotiate protocol
Sometimes you need to go to Component Services and find the DCOM WAMREG properties and allow local activation for service accounts though I thought this wasn't necessary in SP2010.
Is the correct Service being registered?
For instance if my web application is on a machine with FQDN server.host.com so that the NETBIOS name is "server," then I'd issue the following SPNs:
"setspn -a HTTP/server.host.com <Service account w/ domain>" and "setspn -a HTTP/server <Service account w/ domain>"
That being said, if you are using the same service account for everything (such as port 80 web app pool and CA app pool), then you may be having a duplicate SPN issue due to the port numbers not being handled properly in the browser. However, this issue
should only exist in IE6.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908209/en-us
I agree with Rob_H that you may want to only allow NTLM for Central Admin.

Hello friends,
My finding it finally is....there wasn't any configuration issue as I mentioned above.
I'm using an evaluation edition of SQL Server 2008 R2; it just allows default instance (MSSQLSERVER) to be used, not a named instance.
The confirming test for this was...I re-installed SQL Server with all the same settings except changing from a named instance to default; once I finished applying service pack 3. I could initiate WSUS 3.0 SP2 x64 setup and point it to use this SQL server.
WSUS setup completed without any errors. This was not happening when named instance was all configured properly. It was just not accessible from outside.
Well this is what my finding is. For lab environment of CM2012 it suffices the need.

Hello Community
I reinstalled Sharepoint 2010 and SQL Server 2008R Evalution 64bit edition
on a member server running Windows 2008 on Windows Server Enterprise Service Pack 2.
Then I click the "Sharepoint 2010 Central Administration"
The first error I got was something to the effect that:
"The IIS Admin Service" service failed to start because a privilege that the service
requires does not exist in the service account configuration run Local Security Settings
MMC."
So I changed all of the service accounts to run under the domain admin account
except IIS Admin because it would only work under either the Local Account or Network
Service so I ran it under Network Service.
The error message I got after that was similar so I added "Create Global Policy"
to the group that the domain administrator account and services is in.
After that I didn't get the error message instead in the address bar I
saw http:\\<machine name>:port number\
But the page below was blank.
I went to Administrative Tools and discovered I have two IIS items:
#1-Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager
#2-Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
#1 is blank: Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager
#2 is "IIS 7": Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
so I double clicked Sharepoint Central Administration v4 and clicked the Security Tab
and added the group with the domain admin account and gave it full control. I also
enabled the following:
Anonymous authentication
AsP.Net Impersonation
Basic authentication
Digest authentication
Forms authentication
Windows authentication
Then I click the "Sharepoint 2010 Central Administration" again and
then I saw http:\\<machine name>:port number\login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f in the address bar and
on the page I saw HTTP 404 Not Found.
I think Sharepoint 2010 uses the 14 hive but since I just installed it I don't know what pages
should appear so I am at a lost at this point.
What can I do to make the Central Administration page appear?
Thank you
ShabeautHello Daniel
Okay, actually I have tried to do this perfectly but after
failing initially I have probably been trying anything that came
to my mind. So let me explain my initial effort:
I used a domain admin account and logged on locally with that account to
member server to install Sharepoint 2010. Then like you say, I ran the
product configuration wizard to create the farm and Central Administration
site. A Central Administration site was created that I can see in IIS7.
I don't remember clicking "Basic Settings" or "Test Setting" but I do
remember clicking "Authentication" and I think I saw 5 or 6 types of authentication
but only 2 were enabled so I enable the other 3 or 4 and think they were:
Anonymous authentication
AsP.Net Impersonation
Basic authentication
Digest authentication
Forms authentication
Windows authentication
After all of this when I clicked "Central Administration" from
the "Start Menu" I would get prompted 3 times for a password and then just get
<machine name:port number> in the address bar with a blank screen.
After repeating all of these steps over and over again I decided to just
install WSS 3.0 and upgrade that working WSS 3.0 into Sharepoint 2010. But the
problem is I don't know how to perform that type of upgrade.
But now I want to answer your question because you seem to know where I went
wrong so I am going to reinstall Sharepoint 2010 up to the point where I can answer
your question of:
"If you select the web site and from the actions pain choose Basic Settings, then click Test settings, what is the result?"
and
"What authentication is enabled if you open Authentication under IIS in the central pane?"
My only questions are what is supposed to be the results after choosing
"Basic Settings" and "Test Setting" and which of the Authentications should be
enabled and after I set them to what you say, should I then get the Central
Administration page when I click "Central Administration" from the start menu?
Thank you

SCCM 2012 Replication between Central Admin Site and all Primary Sites is failing
Let me start by saying I have made a mistake and now I am paying for it and attempting to fix it. All of our SCCM servers are virtual and exist on an ESX environment. The mistake I made is I restored our Central Admin Site from a backup without also
restoring the two Primary Sites at the same time. Now the databases between the sites simply refuse to synchronize. I can run the Replication Link Analyzer until I'm blue in the face and even though the data gets replicated once, the replication immediately
breaks and fails after that.
Regrettably I no longer have access to backups that would take me back to a point where the three servers were happy. The problem there is our ESX administrator only keeps a limited number of backups per server (we have in excess of 180 virtual servers in
our ESX environment) and the backups from a point in time where they worked is no longer available.
As I have said I have tried running the Replication Link Analyzer many times. I have also tried going into the SQL server console and running the stored procedure spDrsSendReplicationInvalid.
Can anyone provide me with any assistance on how best to restore replication between the Central Admin server and the two Primary servers?http://blogs.msdn.com/b/scstr/archive/2012/05/31/how_2d00_to_2d00_site_2d00_server_2d00_recovery_2d00_central_2d00_or_2d00_primary.aspx
Just an addition: the option called "Recover central administration site:
Then specify the FQDN of a
Reference primary site" is the one to try first.

Hi Everyone,
I think I've shot myself in the foot by not properly following set up instructions.
I have a two-fold problem. Firstly, my Sharepoint Central Administration V4 site is showing
Service Not Available. This seems to be related to the credentials the
Central Administration V4 Application Pool - hitting Test Settings within
IIS Manager for the site shows an Authentication and Authorization error for the credentials due to a bad password.
My reading indicates that I should run something to the effect of:
%STSADM -o updatefarmcredentials -userlogin DOMAIN\username -password <new password as set via AD>
This runs into the following Error message
Error deploying administration application pool credentials. Another deployment may be active. An object of the type Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPAdminAppPoolCredentialDeploymentJobDefinition named "job-admin-apppool-change" already exists
under the parent Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPTimerService named "SPTimerV4". Rename your object or delete the existing object.
I've tried searching out a solution but as yet have been unable to find a mechanism to resolve this error. I have had a look through http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sharepointadmin/thread/b7c17dac-1cd1-4f75-a031-e28e4fbfd2f7 but
it doesn't seem to relate to the same problems - as far as I know the account from which the command is being run is a farm administrator and the problem seems to be the existing job rather than permissions errors.
Your help will be much appreciated.
StuartHi Stuart Weaver,
Firstly, please check if the SharePoint 2010 timer service is running. If not, please start it manually, then check the effect. In addition to this, you can try to
run SharePoint configuration wizard, then check the effect.
Note: when you start the SharePoint 2010 timer service, make sure you input the latest password. The steps are as follows:
Open services.msc, locate the SharePoint 2010 timer service, double click it, then click log on tab, input the updated password, then click apply.
Hope this helps.

Content Database Status Error in SharePoint 2010 Central Administration
Hi,
I am having a new problem with SharePoint 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2. I have SQL Server 2008 R2 as SharePoint Database on Windows Server 2008 R2. I have total no. of
Seven Content Databases for one Web Application. I found
two of my Content Databases showing Error under the
Database Status column in Manage Content Database section in
Central Administration. Five Content Databases are showing
Started.
Would someone please guide how to resolve it and whats wrong is going on?
Thanks in advance. What is the output of:
$db = Get-SPContentDatabase <error'ed db name>
$db.Status
And can you set it to Started?
$db = Get-SPContentDatabase <error'ed db name>
$db.Status = "Online"
$db.Update()

In our company installed SharePoint 2007. On the tab "Create site collection" in the Central Administration we have a custom template (for russian language), which has been installed by previous developer. There is no documentation or installation
file about this template.
Please suggest how i can extract this template (installation file) from Database? We make a migration to a new server and i need install this one more...we need to extract using visual studio
Once you have the .stp file, you can change the .stp file extension to .cab file

Hi karabo,
According to your error message, it says that the ajax.dll (Version=5.7.20.2) assembly is missing.
As far as I know, SharePoint Central Administration web application does not refer to the ajax.dll assembly by OOB.
Do you have any custom solution which reference ajax.dll assembly? If so, please undeploy it before your solution is working fine.
Also you can try to copy the ajax.dll assembly to Global Assembly Cache or your Central Administration web application Bin directory.
