Central Configuration Manager

Hello,
I have downloaded Crystal Server 2008 for evaluation & if it does what we want we will purchase it. I'm having difficulty getting it operational. I've noticed in some documentation (dont know specific as I have looked at so much and have been pressed with other duties) that you are supposed to be able to manipulate CMC via the Central Configuration Manager, but I only see the Apache Tomcat 5.5.20 & the Server Intelligence Agent. On our previous crystal server the CCM displayed way more than the two mentioned. Should I be able to access the CMC via the Central Configuration Manager? If so, should I remove crystal server 2008 and reinstall.
I know I haven't provided much detail, but I just wanted to know if the CMC should show in CCM.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I normally just create & administer reports. This is my first time installing anything that is not done by just clicking install.

What you see in CCM is correct. To access CMC you need to open your Browser and go to http://servername:port/CmcApp
servername is the name of the server where you have installed CR 2008 and port is the port you set your Application server to (Tomcat by default has 8080)

Hi Gurus,
i have a problem with my system.
I installed Enteprise XI 3.0, Crystal, CR, Xcelsius.
By trying to install Live office i receive an error.
I open the Central configuration manager and received this:" The procedure entry pint? Can stack Dump@SLogger@CXLib400@SA_NXZ could not be located in the dynamic link library CXLIBW-4-0.dll"
I can´t start nor stop in CCM.
Do you have any solution?

I think you are looking for the server list.
With BOE R3 and the introduction of the SIA the servers are managed be the SIA.
If you need to see the serverlist go to the CMC or clicl in enable/disable server.

Using central Solution Manager for monitoring multiple customers

Hello,
We are working on monitoring SAP systems of several customers. For every customer we have configured central monitoring on Solution Manager system of that customer. All satellite systems are added to RZ21 and CCMS agents are configured correctly. On the Solution Manager, in RZ20 we have created a rule based monitor specific to the needs of customer, and that monitor is used for the whole landscape of every customer.
But now I need to configure our central Solution Manager system which will collect CCMS data from all satellite systems of all customers on one place in RZ20. That central Solution Manager system should have direct connection only to customer Solution Manager systems and not to their satellite systems. Is this possible? If yes, can you please explain me how to do it or point me to documentation? I was unable to find solution.

as far as I know this is not possible.
we had similar issues, every time we migrated a new customer to or datacenter. Our solution was, to register the CCMS agents to two systems for a period of migration.

Source Configuration Management / Version Control

I was wondering what the Forte raving masses out there are doing about Source
Configuration Management and Version Control type of issues?
Have you been able to implement or "skunk work" a packaged product with your
Forte development environment?
Our shop consists of WindowsNT Forte developers coding for predominantly
Windows95 clients and a HP UNIX Central Server. At this time we currently use a
home grown "system" to handle Source Configuration Management and Version
Control issues. We are now looking to see if there is a better way to do this.
We've identified several Industry Standard packages (SCCS, CVS, Microsoft
SourceSafe etc.) and still haven't found anything very useful.
What I am seeing is that all of the packages so far have direct hooks in C++,
Visual Basic etc.
I have yet to see something with Forte hooks.

Setup Central Contract Management SRM 7.01 with differing release versions

Hello experts,
OSS note 1268821 explains how to configure the central contract management between a SRM 7.0 and an ERP 6.04. So far so good, but how should it be handled if there are differing release versions such as ERP 6.04 and ERP 6.03? I guess that a technical split (xml services/ ALE distribution) is necessary?
Assuming that there are some backends with differing release versions and in some cases with differing master data (not supported by central master data client) would you always go via PI? Independent of release version, technology and master data.
Could you give some further detailed informations how to configure such a scenario? What has to be done to transfer existing contracts from an ERP 6.04 into SRM CM component (migration concept)?

Hi Thorsten
The minimal ECC version is 6.0 EHP4, Central Contracts require certain business functions in ECC to be activated and as these are included within ECC EHP4 you won't have these available in lower version. Therefore you won't be able to operate central contracts in such an ECC system.
You would either have to go with patching these systems or go with GOA's for these systems.
Operating central contracts via PI or SOA i believe provide almost similar functionality. SOA however requires an SRM EHP1 system and ECC EHP5 back-end to operate whilst central contracts configured via PI can be operated onwards from an SRM 7.0 and EHP4 system.
I can't help you on your migration issue, maybe someone else can.

SRM 7.0 / ERP 6.04: Config. of Central Contract Management

I want to configure the newly introduced integrated Procure-to-Pay Scenario Central Contract Management.
I found SAP Note number 1268821 where all tasks are described in order to implement the previous scenario.
For correct implementation, business function "Purchasing - SAP SRM Integration" (LOG_MM_P2PSE_1) activation is required in the ERP Systems.
When I run SFW5 t-code in order to activate the previous business function, SAP system gives an alert message.
What are the consequences of this business function activation ??

Hi Michele,
I don't think there will be any consequences, we had certain warning messages aswell when we activated the business functions in ECC 6. Reading the warning messages we could conclude it wasn't any serious problem.

Hierarchical, Parameter-based Configuration Management - is SCCM the answer?

I'm looking for the opinions of those that have used SCCM 2012 in a production environment. What do you think the feasibility is of using SCCM 2012 Configuration Manager to manage the configuration of several Web Farms that are divided by primary use
and development tier? I.e. a Public Webserver environment that has a DEV / TST / PRD environment, with parameters specific to each, with individual similar web sites on each of those environments.
I've been looking at DSC recently as it appears to have all of the native tools to allow you to define the kinds of hierarchies that are necessary (and pass parameters to resources defined to a node). Will SCCM allow me the same kind of environment
+ role based management?

It all depends upon what exactly you want to configure. ConfigMgr will allow to enforce anything ultimately, but you are most likely writing scripts to get it done as it doesn't natively know how to configure most applications including IIS.
Without knowing more detail, that's about that can be said though and thus I would say DSC is your best at this point because it was designed for what you are talking about. The only short-coming of DSC is that there is no central management. Thus, you could
really combine the power of the two tools and have ConfigMgr enforce the DSC policies. That's not a native capability but wouldn't be too difficult to get going.

You first need to have every SAP system already configured into Solution Manager in a Solution Landscape whereas, to configure the central TMS to handle all the T.O you need to configure the Change Management feature in Solution Manager.

Updates on Configuration Manager in AW fails

Got a UCCE 9.0.3 Deployment with 2 Primary AW/HDS boxes. Having an issue with the LoggerB for some reason. When LoggerA is up, I can make changes in AW-A in Configuration Manager (such as adding or deleting an agent) and if I go to ICMBA and look at the Configuration Table>Agent, I can see both Loggers updating. However, when I manually stop LoggerA services, I can't make any changes. I'm getting the below error from uaw:

I believe I should be getting the hostname and IP but it doesn't show up on the log. I do have host files configured on all boxes and am able to ping all the hostnames just fine. Validated I got mixed mode setup in SQL as well on both Loggers and AW. I am also able to login to both Roggers in SQL Server Management Studio from both AWs and from each Rogger. Any ideas why?

Configuration Management with push?

Are there any configuration management tools with a 'push' functionality? I want to have one central server that holds a tree of files I specify for other servers (eg, /etc/resolv.conf. rc.conf etc) and when I change the file on the central server, I can issue one command to 'push' the changes out to the remote server without having to login and manually pull it in.

Using git seems like pushing a round peg in an oval hole, but maybe the best solution. I've found 'cfengine' while looking into this which kind of seems like what I'm after, but also seems very complicated too

SCCM 2012 R2 Configuration Manager Client Package - stuck "In Progress"

Hi Team; I’m having 2 issues with SCCM 2012 R2:

Issue 2: I'm trying to deploy a couple of Packages/Applications using SCCM 2012 R2 running on Win2K8 R2 with no luck, knowing that I could install the packages
on a test VM “in the DataCenter site”, but when trying to deploy the packages to production PC “in the Office Site”,
the status is packages deployment compliance stuck at 0%
Infrastructure:
3 SCCM servers: CAS, PRI & SEC. Both CAS and PRI are in the DataCenter site, and SEC is in the Office site. The office site has several IP subnets.
Boundaries are configured through Forest Discovery “IP Ranges and AD Sites” since that the AD site should contain all the IP subnets that the AD site contains, Boundaries groups are also configured and a site reference
server is configured for each group respectively.
A OU based Collection has been configured that contains 13 PC "the collection contains the PCs that the packages should be installed.
Packages/Applications are configured correctly since that I could successfully deploy the packages to the test VM which is on the same subnet as the CAS and the PRI servers "the DataCenter subnet". The issue
is that I can't deploy the packages to production PCs in the Office subnet!
Firewall rules are configured and applied via GP, and I even turned Windows Firewall off, and still nothing! I tried to manually initiate Computer Policy download via the SCCM GUI and via a script, still no luck!
I tried configuring IP Subnet Boundaries, still no luck!!
Here are the last 2 lines in the LocationServices.log of a client PC at the Office Site:

It looks like clients in the Office Site can’t connect to the DP/MP of the Secondary Site server which is also a DP.
While on the PC that the application was installed on I see the folowing in the LocationService.log:

Update:
I fixed the issue with the default XXX00002 package - "Configuration Manager Client Package", it will not deploy to the Secondary Site DP. I did that through "Update Distribution Points" option, and after a while the status was 100%.
However; the second issue is still unsolved...

When converting over to HTTPS and PKI for clients, not all actions are available in configuration manager cpl

I'm not exactly sure which forum heading this should go under so if this isn't correct please let me know or move it on my behalf.
So I am trying to setup Internet Based Client Management in SCCM 2012 R2 and have come across a few articles on how to do so. I think I have mostly gotten it to work but I seem to be having a client issue when deploying new machines. My already
deployed servers seem to have picked up the PKI setting no problem. In the past when I would deploy a new windows client everything would be fine. When i converted over to PKI in my test environment I am now having issues when I go to deploy a
new windows client. I don't get all of the Actions listed in the Configuration Manager control panel. All I have are Discovery Data Collection, Machine Policy Retrieval and Eval, User Policy Retrieval and Eval, and Windows Installer Source list Update
Cycles, before all of them would populate no problem. I have let this machine sit here for several hours and nothing has changed yet. It does say PKI for client certificate. Sometimes when I would deploy new machines it would say NONE for
Client certificate. In my production environment it says self-signed. I have found if i uninstall the client and re-install the client it does populate all of the cycles but I don't understand why it is not working on deployment.
Ok so maybe not all the time that when i reinstall the client it fixes it. I just did an uninstall and reinstall on a test client and all it has under actions are machine and user policy cycles.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I think SCCM client installed before the GPO applied, so you don't a certificate available when it is required.
You can export and import the certificate by using MDT integration, try this blog for PKI part:

Unable to copy hidden package "Configuration Manager Client Package" to local DP

Content status lists it as successfully distributed to all DPs (including the local site server)
However, component status for SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER continually logs these events:
Distribution Manager failed to process package "Configuration Manager Client Package" (package ID = CDW00001).
Possible cause: Distribution manager does not have access to either the package source directory or the distribution point.
Solution: Verify that distribution manager can access the package source directory/distribution point.
Possible cause: The package source directory contains files with long file names and the total length of the path exceeds the maximum length supported by the operating system.
Solution: Reduce the number of folders defined for the package, shorten the filename, or consider bundling the files using a compression utility.
Possible cause: There is not enough disk space available on the site server computer or the distribution point.
Solution: Verify that there is enough free disk space available on the site server computer and on the distribution point.
Possible cause: The package source directory contains files that might be in use by an active process.
Solution: Close any processes that maybe using files in the source directory. If this failure persists, create an alternate copy of the source directory and update the package source to point to it.
NOTE: It appears to not be any of these causes.

Both errors are certificate related. Is there anything special about your configuration such as special ACLs on the certificate store or FIPS compliance mode (see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811833) being enabled?
Nothing special with certificates; I've used the basic stuff for intranet management of clients.
The only related thing I can think of that may have affected this, is that I discovered earlier today that my MP installation got hosed (error 500) due to a broken client install on the site server itself. I uninstalled the client manually and the server
(as indicated by the component status views) appears to have repaired the MP install. Perhaps it didn't repair it completely? Would a site reset do me any good?
