Central License Price

We are currently investigating use of Output Designer 5.6 and Central Output Server 5.6 - with good success in our prototyping efforts.
Adobe sales is now reporting that the new version of Central Pro, to be released in May/June 2007, will see a list price of around $40K, a hike of more than 100%. Have anyone else heard about this? Therefore we are seriously considering alternatives to this combination - any help would be appreciated,

Yes. It looks like my worst fears regarding this software have been realized. According to the "update" page on Adobe's site "LiveCycle Output ES" is the upgrade path for "Central Pro Output Server 5.6".

with the footnote of "Available as an optional migration for maintenance and support customers who wish to move to LiveCycle ES".
The current product supports data files in XML format. I wonder if the new software will support "field nominated" files or will all current "DAT" file creation software that makes field nominated files need to be changed.
This is quite an about face for this software. Years ago there was a single designer used for both the filler and server-based printing software. Then they separated it into two distinct products, removing the filler features from Output Designer. Now they are dropping the Output Designer product altogether and having the LiveCycle filler product be the designer for the server-based processing.
We are going to have to have a long & serious discussion regarding whether we can continue with the direction Adobe is going. When Adobe switched the filler product to what is now LiveCycle Designer they did not support the immigration of the files from the predecessor software - particularly where they dropped support of VBScript. Now I'm expected to believe they will adequately support conversion of Output Designer files.
The LiveCycle change to a new object model and scripting languages was bad enough. It also came in the middle of our conversion so we could not follow along. If we follow along with Adobe now we'll have staff from both sides (filler & printing) needing to learn everything over again.
Our original conversion/development of our 100s of forms took years and we are just now to the point we can begin doing some serious enhancements. To go into conversion mode again (and this soon) would be a major and expensive undertaking, likely taking several years again. This is job security that I just don't need since I'm retiring in less than 2 years.

Logmein Central 200% price increase

I’ve been an avid user of Logmein for years and paid for Central so that I may organize computers in groups, and have the benefit of adding other users. Now Central is advertised with 10 features; but really only 5 are available with just Central purchase; the other 5 require Pro subscriptions. So I can deploy Logmein package, create users, make computer groups, use Hamachi VPN, see basic reports only. I cannot manage anti-virus without Pro subscription, nor can I use One2Many without Pro subscriptions. I cannot manage updates, setup alerts & monitoring, or perform inventory without Pro subscriptions. So Central is only 50% of what it’s listed to do, but LMI just announced Central price increase 2 weeks before my renewal; so that my cost will increase from $239 to $499 per year = a 209% price increase!! That’s highway robbery and I’m certainly not happy with it; it scares me away and I’ll likely pass on the renewal then.

I have ~100 computers in logmein, 80% of them I connect 1 or 2 times a year (sometimes not), and the remaining 20% is mainly for use by facility
No way I'm paying $ 400 for that, I'll test the alternatives now !I hate racketeering, logmein made the pay offer at the last minute last year, and now double or triple price ...

The base price is $5K per CPU (for the same price you can get a license for Oracle AS Java EE edition that includes the ADF license as well).

About Adobe Interactive Form license price

We need to develop some Adobe Interactive Form with Netweaver Developer Studio .
I know that if customer create their own Adobe interactive forms then they need to purchase the license.
How much the license of Adobe Interactive Form ? We need to develop about 30 forms.
How long does it need that contact to SAP and got the license in general ?

You will need to contact your SAP Account Executive to discuss licensing for your company. SAP Notes 750784 and 736902 are good ones to read in advance.
It does not take long to receive a license and you can go ahead and request Adobe Credentials to begin development.

6i was de-supported long time back and i think Oracle is not providing licenses and support for 6i anymore ......

If you are using Nokia Maps V2, try deleting the "Cities" Folder, run Nokia Maps once and then reloading the map data. This will rule out any corruption of the map data.

I'm doing a test by creating a PO referencing a Central Contract, which is made in SRM. When creating the PO, at this moment the net prices is retrieved from SRM.
Question: Is it possible to retrieve the net price from the copied contract which is in the Local ECC system?
(Customizing in ECC) SPRO -->Integration with Other mySAP.com Components >Supplier Relationship Management>Central Contract-->Price Calculation
The value what is at this moment: SRM Pricing Immediate
Should the value be: 1 SRM Pricing Immediately Only for Hierarchy Contract Item

Check for existing screen layout name from below settings -
Goto SPRO -> IMG Settings -> Materials Management -> Purchasing -> Purchase Order -> Define Document Types
Check for Field selection key against the PO Type.
Then goto below setting -
SPRO -> IMG Settings -> Materials Management -> Purchasing -> Purchase Order -> Define screen layout at document level
Select the screen layout / Field selection key in this setting and modify the field selection group Quantity and price. Make Price and price unit as display only as per your requirement.

Volume Licenses CS6 - CC Team only?

My company currently users Volume Licensing for CS6.
If we are forced into this CC subscription model, will we be able to take advantage of the $30-per-year licenses for the first year for those volume licenses for as many seats as we own? Or will we be forced into Team licensing?
Here's the deal: WE REFUSE TO PAY $70 A MONTH PER SEAT for the "privilege" of having centralized license management. We don't need your damn cloud storage! We have file servers. We have workflow in place. We have collaboration procedures in place.
And does Adobe really think that having centralized licensing and deployment is a feature we should pay MORE for? They NEVER charged us for their Enterprise Deployment Tools before. In fact, we get DISCOUNTS for buying more seats.
But now we are being forced to pay almost 50% more for centrally managed licensing, and worst case, over 100% more if we can't get the $30/mo. price. We won't do that. If we have to, if we are forced to, if our customers upgrade to CC, and MAKE us have to purchase subscriptions, we will purchase single seats, and create as many accounts as we have seats, and put up with the management nightmare of maintaining them all. It's not worth an extra $20 a month per seat, coming out to hundreds of dollars extra a month that they want us to pay for centralized management.
Adobe, if you are listening: We hate you. We REALLY REALLY hate you. And mark my words: If you proceed with this insanity, we will do everything in our power to promote alternatives to Adobe, and encourage our customers to STAY WITH CS6. We'll buy f-ing Quark if we have to. We'll setup an automation server to back-save IDML so we don't have to purchase more than a single copy of InDesign CC. And we are not alone. You believe you are immune from market forces, from the grass roots, from the coordination that social media now gives us? Keep going down this path, and we will make you very very sorry you did this.
It's not too late Adobe. Admit your error in judgment, and we'll all just forget this ever happened. Proceed down this path, and feel our wrath taken out on on your bottom line.

The problem was that I had a personal free Adobe ID logged in to the Desktop app. I removed that ID, got the original invitation deleted and got another invite which then worked when I signed in with my corporate ID. I have experienced issues using Chrome as my browser though, which may not have helped. Chrome displays blank pages when clicking links from Invitation emails and also from within the desktop app.
I'm on Windows 7 running the most up to date version of Chrome.

Price policy of Apple in the Czech Republic

can anyone please send me an email contact to somebody in Apple who is responsible for managing European countries dealerships and controls (more or less) the price policy of those dealers? I just don't get it! On the three lists of countries by gross domestic product at purchasing power parity per capita which is found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita you can clearly see, that USA is somewhere between 7th and 9th place of all countries with around 47000$. On the other hand, the Czech Republic is between 36 and 39 place with about 25000$. That's little more than half of the USA one. Can anyone tell me how it is possible that US citizen, who has nearly twice the purchasing power of the Czech citizen, can have:
New 2011 Mac Book Pro 13 for 1199$ while in Czech Rep. the very same model costs 1547$? 29% more
New 2011 Mac Book Pro 15 (2,4GHz quad-core i7) for 2199$ while in Czech Rep. the very same model costs 2772$ 26% more
New 2011 Mac Book Pro 17 (2,4GHz quad-core i7) for 2499$ while in Czech Rep. the very same model costs 3216$ 28% more
I would understand that the prices would be about the same. It's not possible to sell those Mac Books for 500$ in Congo just because its a poor country. But hey!!! 26-9% MORE expensive??? Come on!!! And please don't tell me that the cost MUST be higher because of the distribution or transportation. These are made in China so they must travel huge lengths anyway and I bet the cost to transport them to US is actually higher than to Europe. It's not the exchange rate problem because US dollar is much cheaper than it used to be several years ago. And I don't think it's a legislation problem of EU or Czech Rep. either because other brands like Acer, HP, Lenovo, Asus etc. with similar configuration are noticeably cheaper than Apple's stuff. I think that this has something to do either with Apple's European, or Central Europe price policy, or the dealers are simply out of Apple's control, they did a silent cartel and they are stuffing their own pockets. It's a shame when you consider how great the Apple products are and how affordable they can be for US citizens. Unfortunately not for the Czech ones. I think somebody at Apple should definitely do something about it. Please, let me know where can I officially send my complaints.

Apple reduced the price on the iPod touch 8GB model back in October. And all new iPods come with iOS 5. An iPod touch with iOS 4 is old stock.

Standard Edition One Processor Licensing

I'm trying to get to the bottom of the licensing for Standard Edition One (and also Standard Edition). I have the processor license prices, but am not sure if we need to apply core factors as we'll be using a single multi-core processor.
The oracle pdf of database licensing states the following:
"+When licensing Oracle programs with Standard Edition One or Standard Edition in the product name, a processor is counted equivalent to a socket;+"
So does this mean if we have a single socket quad-core cpu we don't need to apply the core factors???
Any guidance greaty appreciated, the more I dig around on the Oracle site, the more confused I get!

For SE and SE One, the licensing is based on sockets. For SE, you can have a maximum of 4 sockets. you do not need to take the core factor into consideration for this. The core factor only applies in Enterprise edition. For SE One a maximum of 2 sockets can be used. Please see the following link for more information:

SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse (PDW) Licensing

We have a customer that's interested in SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse
(PDW). I'm told this is an appliance sold by a manufacturer like Dell or HP. But
I also see Licensing price on the EA price list.
Can they also purchase PDW under a VL Agreement?

Yes. Microsoft sells PDW as an appliance with a software and hardware purchase. Note that the PDW requires both the software and hardware purchase.
