Centrally Controlled P2P Connectivity

Hi All,
Came across this line in one of the XI overview docs: "The architecture allows Peer-to-peer connectivity (still centrally controlled) to avoid additional point of failures". Can anyone explain how this can be done?
Thanks in advance.

Bharath

Naveen, the initial question was:
> Hi All,

My previous answer was based on that initial question and with the assumption that the interfaces are/were developed and maintained in XI. As you have stated here, non-XI interfaces cannot be monitored with XI which is logical.

    The volume limit is preset so yes you are unable to alter the volume on the iPad however you can control the volume on your tv and if you have AirPlay speakers you are able to adjust your volume as well..

  • TDMS central/control system, should I have to install it in a solution manager? Is it a prerequisite?

    Hello,
    I have a doubt about the installation of the central/control system of TDMS, the documentation say that TDMS should be installed in a Netweaver 7.0 and it also say that the solution manager can be used for the central/control system, but I also have read in a lot of documents relating TDMS with solution manager, so I am a little confused with this prerequisite.
    Is the Solution manager a prerequisite for the installation of the central/control system? If so, where can I find it in the documentation?
    or
    Can we use a simple Netweaver 7.0 ERP to be the central/control system? Without any solution manager?
    Please, advice
    Thanks in advance,
    Walde Requena

    Hello Billy,
    This is quite interesting.  TDMS is fully supported with a Solman system as well and is being used
    extensively by several customers. We have not heard of any Solman Service getting impacted because of using that system as a TDMS Control system. Can you precisely describe what kind of
    conflicts where encountered , when you had tried using your solman as a TDMS control system.
    May be you have followed some incorrect step here.
    Note : The idea of using a Solman system was to avoid redundant systems in your landscape .
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • SAP TDMS add on setup on central/control , sender and reciever systems

    I found that SAP TDMS is shipped in the following add-ons:
    DMIS: Contains general functions, for example for the process monitor and for the technical data transfer
    DMIS_CNT: Contains TDMS-specific functions and some of the process types
    DMIS_EXT: For various additional process types (reduction scenarios) for SAP TDMS; currently, it contains only the process   type for business process library
    DMIS_BSC: For the process types to be used with SAP BI or CRM systems
    DMIS_HR: For the process types to be used in the context of SAP Human Capital Management (HCM)
    I have read TDMS master guide under section 3.4.1 Setting up the TDMS Server. There is a reference to SAP Note 970531 which is for DIMS setup and there is also reference to SAP note 970532 which is for DMIS_CNT setup.
    I would like to know if DMIS_EXT,DMIS_BSC and DMIS_HR need to be setup on TDMS central/control server , sender and reciever or only need to be setup on central/control server for respective scenario realization.
    Best Regards
    Mohammed Ashraf

    All the add-on components need to be installed in all the system (sender, receiver, central, control) in the landscape.

  • How do I maximize the chance of a successful p2p connection?

    I understand that the p2p connection may not be possible, and sometimes even the stratus connection may not be possible, but I would like to know any steps I can take to help improve the probability of success. Are there any recommendations on guidelines on this?

    if you have a firewall, ensure it allows outbound UDP (and associated return traffic) to ports 1024..65535 inclusive.
    if you have a NAT, make sure it isn't a symmetric NAT, or isn't set to symmetric mode.  symmetric NATs are inherently defective* and should be reconfigured (if possible) or replaced.  your NAT is probably symmetric if, when you go to
       http://cc.rtmfp.net/
    you get "No" for either of "source IP address is preserved from original connection" or "source UDP port number is preserved from original connection".
    if you want to talk to other computers on your own network, don't use additional NATs behind a first NAT.

  • Central control data format

    is it possible to have a central control of data format
    for example, all number data are with thousand separator and zero decimal place.
    if some columns have data format, user can customize it (like current way - set manually in column property)

    Hi.
    Yes, you can edit this in localedefinitions.xml whic is located in:
    ...OracleBI\web\config\localedefinitions.xml
    <--property name="decimalSeparator">.<--/property>
    <--property name="thousandsSeparator">,<--/property>
    or in Answers you can save in the column properties:
    as the system-wide default for this data type

  • P2P Connectivity

    Hey people
    if you don't mind I have a little question:
    How can client get results like here: http://cc.rtmfp.net/
    Can stratus server provide same information as matthew home server does (connectivity info) ?
    It would be cool if my program could tell to user "Hey, your p2p is not working, please configure your NAT".
    Because for now its a bit strange: some users can connect to Stratus rendezvous server, but they cannot communicate with peers and they never get onPeerConnected. I have addressed this by timeouts and fallback to FMS, but this is quite unstable, and it takes a while to check.
    in LCCS, there is property "isp2p", which is set to true or false (depending from user being able or not to use p2p) which is just set after client is connected to lccs rendezvous server
    that's really great and it would be nice to know if there is something equal to that in stratus
    thanks and keep up the great work, its really a big leap in the future *thumbs up*

    we considered (and have not entirely dismissed) adding CC's function to Stratus.  currently we're leaning away from including it in Stratus directly, but (as it is today) it could still be used as a parallel service since you can open multiple NetConnections.  CC's results are diagnostic, rather than predictive, so it doesn't always make sense to run its tests nor to avoid trying to make P2P connections because of unfavorable results.
    we will definitely take your request into account as we consider future features of the Stratus service.

  • Resource Central doesn't connect

    Resource Central will not connect in Soundbooth. When I open it, it just displays a picture of an unplugged cable. I don't believe my firewall is blocking, it doesn't even try to connect. I am definitely connected to the net. How can I troubleshoot and or fix this?
    thanks

    Durin,
    I have traced the dns resolution as follows:
    resourcecentraldl.adobe.com resolves to
    resourcecentraldl.wip3.adobe.com which resolves to
    resourcecentraldl.adobe.com.edgesuite.net which resolves to
    a1545.g.akamai.net which resolves to
    204.0.3.115 and 204.0.3.137
    (finally hit a server, looks like a load balancer or cluster)
    n0g.akamai.net = 64.86.32.188
    n1g.akamai.net = 69.26.188.29
    n2g.akamai.net = 69.26.188.44
    n3g.akamai.net = 204.0.3.68
    n4g.akamai.net = 64.86.32.198
    n5g.akamai.net = 69.26.188.7
    n6g.akamai.net = 69.26.188.39
    n7g.akamai.net = 64.86.32.204
    n8g.akamai.net = 68.44.123.147
    (never resolved to the IP you reference above)
    I have a laptop and a highend desktop I use for video and audio editing. The desktop ping would not resolve until I got to a1545.g.akamai.net, but the laptop would, same ISP and router on this end. I used the laptop to do the trace.
    Based on this information I feel contacting my ISP for a solution will be a waste of time. How do we get Adobe network experts to look at this problem. I suspect there might be a timing problem because of the number of resolution attempts required to resolve.

  • Is there centralized control access for html5 notifications permissions?

    the desktop notifications permissions used by websites to control the creation of desktop notifications—for things like email and twitter—seems to have no centralized control. looking around i found the permissions manager (about:permissions) and the alert slide effect toggle in about:config but neither of these seem to have the permissions for the display of notifications.
    as far as i can tell the only place i can go to control these permissions are the individual pages themselves for which the permission was granted, under the page info > permissions tab. this would be fine but if i wanted to revoke this/these permissions globally i would need to remember and revisit all websites to which i had granted the permission.
    permissions manager seems like it was made for just such a purpose: to centrally locate global and individual permissions granted to websites. but the websites that i have granted this permission do not even show up in the list. i find this curious as in those pages "view page info" > permissions tab the same permissions that other sites have that are listed in permissions manager are listed directly above the notifications permission in the page info window.
    is there a centralized control for the notifications permission? if yes; where is it? if no; could it please be implemented?
    chrome has notification permission control in their advanced settings. easy to find. not like about:permissions.

    i should have stated in my original question: i am using firefox 27.0.1. my addons/extensions consist almost entirely of privacy and developer themed addons ie: noscript, priv3, ghostery, firebug, jsonview, and html validator.
    the exceptions button you referred to in the security tab is not for allowing collective things. that button is for listing the sites allowed/denied to install addons. i checked every page and every button in the options window before i started looking online for information about notifications. that is how i found the about:permissions page.
    the functionality of notifications i refer to is built into firefox. it is not from a addon/extension as the desktop notifications work while i am running in safe mode. so no, it is not a third party addon. if it were then the management of the permissions it is granted would be done through it. there are likely addons i could get for desktop notifications but i doubt they would be using the html5 spec notifications feature and thus not useful for my purposes.
    for reference the specific website that brought this feature to my attention and hence the management thereof was mail.google.com. on the general tab of the settings page for your inbox allows you to turn on or off desktop notifications of incoming mail as it is received. if you turn on the notifications the browser will ask you to grant or deny permission to the site for the display of notifications. a few days later i was thinking about these notifications and was curious how i would go about revoking the permission after it had been granted. i knew how to turn off the display of notifications by gmail, but that was not the same as revoking the permission. this search ultimately led me here.
    as i stated before the permissions of a site can be viewed by looking at the page info > permissions tab, accessible from the right click menu on the page. this however, as guigs2 found, seems to be the only place where the notifications permission is found. if it were also available on the about:permissions page that would satisfy my desire for a centralized control system of the notifications permission.

  • Central Site Internet Connectivity for MPLS VPN User

    What are the solutions of Central site Internet connectivity for a MPLS VPN user, and what is the best practice?

    Hello,
    Since you mentioned that Internet Access should be through a central site, it is clear that all customer sites (except the central) will somehow have a default (static/dynamic) to reach the central site via the normal VPN path for unknown destinations. Any firewall that might be needed, would be placed at the central site (at least). So, the issue is how the central site accesses the Internet.
    Various methods exist to provide Internet Access to an MPLS VPN. I am not sure if any one of them is considered the best. Each method has its pros and cons, and since you have to balance various factors, those factors might conflict at some point. It is hard to get simplicity, optimal routing, maximum degree of security (no matter how you define "security"), reduced memory demands and cover any other special requirements (such as possibility for overlapping between customer addresses) from a single solution. Probably the most secure VPN is the one which is not open to the Internet. If you open it to the Internet, some holes also open inevitably.
    One method is to create a separate Internet_Access VPN and have other VPNs create an extranet with that Internet_Access VPN. This method is said to be very secure (at least in terms of backbone exposure). However, if full routing is a requirement, the increased memory demands of this solution might lead you to prefer to keep the internet routing table in the Global Routing Table (GRT). You might have full routing in the GRT of PEs and Ps or in PEs only (second is probably better).
    Some names for solutions that exist are: static default routing, dynamic default routing, separate BGP session between PE and CE (via separate interface, subinterface or tunnel), extranet with internet VRF (mentioned earlier), extranet with internet VRF + VRF-aware NAT.
    The choice will depend on the requirements of your environment. I cannot possibly describe all methods here and I do not know of a public document that does. If you need an analysis of MPLS VPN security, you may want to take a look at Michael Behringer's great book with M.Morrow "MPLS VPN Security". Another book that describes solutions is "MPLS and VPN Architectures" by Ivan Pepelnjak. There is a Networkers session on MPLS VPNs that lists solutions. There is also a relevant document in CCO:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk436/tk428/technologies_configuration_example09186a00801445fb.shtml (covering static default routing option).
    Kind Regards,
    M.

  • Centrally Controling JRE Installations/Updates Company Wide

    We are currently using a java based CRM system with a huge number of different peices. We would like to look into doing some upgrades and it has come to our attention that if a user has an older version of the JRE one of the applications works fine but when they click the upgrage feature at the client side and upgrades to the latest version, the application no longer runs.
    I fully understand this is probably an issue with the CRM solution not working with the newer JRE but our fear is that more then one person will begin to upgrade their clients. Also, we have very little control over what JRE versions they go and download and install.
    The question is, is there a known function/feature/or software package that will allow us to centrally manage what version of the JRE is allowed to be installed and or upgrade similar to how you can use WSUS for managing what microsoft patches are released to your corporate enviroment?
    Does Sun have anything like this?
    Does anyone have any suggestions on things we can do?

    Hmm. Well... I'll bump this thread one more time to give it one last gasp. Am I asking too many things at once? If I had one single question that needed to be answered, it's this:
    When dealing with Adobe software that requires a login for ongoing communication with Adobe, what is the risk of using the master user account and password for my organization as the username and password for any individual installation, and how do other people mitigate this risk?
    Oh wait... is that two questions? Crap!
