Centre Speaker problemo. Audigy 2 ZS, Logitech X-

This problem is all over the forums already, but nothing i've found / read about has been able to solve it: my front centre speaker is playing softer than the rest (in CMSS and CMSS 2), and if i enable an EAX Equalizer i get no sound from the centre speaker at all. What im not sure about is where exactly the problem is lying... some people claim it to be codecs, others a hardware problem, others driver problems, etc. Im using an Audigy 2 ZS and Logitech X-530 5. speakers. I checked my windows setup, AC3 filter, AudioHQ, etc. and all have been set to 5. surround sound. In the speaker console, i test the speaker and it works fine (same loudness as the other speakers).
I dont think its a driver problem. Im using the drivers that provide EAX4.0 support (the one which includes two driver updates, the 2003 and 2004 ones), but even before that i had the same problem (was using the drivers that came with the soundcard). I dont think its a hardware problem either, because the subwoofer's playing just fine, and the centre speaker does work... the sound's just really faint.
The centre speaker works fine with DVD-Audio and DVD-Video tho (voice and other sounds channel perfectly). So im assuming its something to do with the codecs or something? I use Winamp 5.08 for MP3's and Windows Media Player 0 for audio CD's. For mpegs, avi's etc. i use WMP0 or VLC. Anything non-DVD gives me crap.
Errrrr... helpz0r please <IMG height=6 src="http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-tongue.gif" width=6 border=0>

  • Audigy 2 ZS + Creative T7900 7.1 Centre Speaker Prob

I've just installed an Audigy 2 ZS sound card and Inspire T7900 speaker system. When setting up the speakers I noticed that the centre speaker was not working, looking into the problem futher the speaker is working but the volume level for it is SO VERY LOW. I've tried lowering the volume levels of the rest of the speakers to try and balance it out, but that doesn't help much.
    Can anyone help?
P.S. I'm using Windows XP SP2 & the latest drivers for the sound card.

Thanks for the replys, tried all but still the same.
I then decided to remove the sound card and reinstall it to a differnet PCI slot. Whilst removing the card I noticed that the cable connecting to Line Out 3 (Yellow'ish) couldn't fit flush up against the sound card, 5mins later, and small modifaction to the case and hey presto full 7. sound.
    P.S. I'm an idiot 8-))
I like your honesty there. and enjoy ur audio now. Cheers

  • Centre Speaker Problem with Z-5500 and X

When I have entertainment mode enabled (not sure if its the mode's problem or not) the centre speaker doesnt play alot of the music (I heard the voices are supposed to come from centre while ambience comes from the other speakers) most of the sound is coming from the other 4 speakers. Also, when the song gets real intense (or a word starting with "s" is said) the speaker starts to crackle and fizzle, and it makes me think the speaker is dieing or not able to handle that sound. However, when I enable game mode and play counterstrike or such, with the volume pretty high (about halfway for the Z-5500 is deafening) I can shoot and throw grenades and such but the centre channel (which plays alot more sound then when Im playing music) doesnt crackle or fizzle, it handles pretty much 80% of the sound) I especially hear the crackling/distortion or whatever it is when Im playing System of a Down's Chop Suey, when he says the line "self righteous suicide" it crackles and causes a fuzzy sound when he says it, and some other songs have parts of it when this happens. Just wondering why the X-Fi is causing this (i dont think its the modes problem cause I have the problem with game mode too) but it cant be the speaker as it works perfectly fine in game.

Hows it going mate. i have a very similar setup to you and have the same problem. the sound only comes out of the front and centre speakers. even the surround sound comes out of the fronts. this is because the vista drivers do not support dolby digital or dts. lol what a waste of money. there is no warnings about this when you purchase the card. i am appauled at this. It is false advertising.

  • Woofer and centre speaker not working

Hi, recently purchased a Creative P580 and I can't seem to get the woofer and centre speaker to work, I have a 5.1 sound card and it does support 4 channel sound, suuround sound is turned on, any ideas? thanks Pete

    Pete,
You didn't mention specifically which card you have, or what kind of audio you're testing, but take a look at this knowledgebase article first. For music, for instance, you would need to enable CMSS if you want sound out of all of the speakers, as the source isn't real 5.1
Other than that, just make sure the speaker settings for the card are set to 5.1, and that you've adjusted specific volume levels for speakers (if it's available on your card - like a center speaker volume bar in the mixer).

  • Centre speaker does not w

Hi i just bought the Creative Inspire 5. P5800 speaker system. I've got a Creative SoundBlaster Li've! 5. Digital soundcard. I've plugged in all the cables correctly, changed my Windows sound system setting to 5. surround and did the same on the Creative Speaker system application. When i test the speaker through the creative speaker application, all 5 channels will output correctly but if i open up any other application for movies or music, the centre speaker won't work. I've tried disabling my onboard sound chip (C-media), uninstalling codecs (heard AC-3 filters usually conflict with creative center speakers' output), and reinstalling all the creative sb li've! drivers. That still wont make any difference. I'm wondering if the cause is because i had to connect the center audio cable (the orange cable) to the digital output jack of the creative soundcard (but thats where it's meant to be, so... ). Can anyone please help. I sold my Creative 4. 4400 2weeks ago, and if the centre satellite of this P5800 wont work, thats really money wasted. My last option is to format, and reinstall everything properly but i doubt that's gonna work. HELP....... Thanks

Change your windows sound system setting?from 5. to default 7.. You may have go into the?SoundBlaster Li've! 5. speaker settings/control center to setup your speaker set to 5.. and to calibrate the speaker set.

That's definitely a hardware problem(drop then malfunctioned). If you've replaced the ringer/buzzer & speaker from original parts & it does works also, most likely contacts on mainboard or soldered parts been dislodge. An autorized Nokia Care Center could resolved your problem.

  • New X-Fi USB problem: Signal for sub and centre speaker seem to come through the same channe

.. im not very technical so Ill try and explain this as best to my ability!!
I recently purchased a X-Fi soundcard to use with my 5. surround sound system and I seemed to have a problem as soon as I set it up. When I play any music there is no bass at all, however when I switch the two input cables (centre/sub) over at the back of the sub there is too much bass and it sounds like its just the output for the centre speaker, only coming through the subwoofer and the centre speaker stops working.
I'm on a Acer laptop if this hel
    ps.
. im guessing its a problem with drivers as im almost certain the physical setup is ok. Ive tried a couple of other friends 5. setups with my soundcard and exactly the same thing happens.
Im really stumped so any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Jamie?

Ive tried looking for an option like this but cant seem to find one. Is it a standard feature with creative sound software?

  • Audigy 2 + Logitech Z-5

    Hi,
I've got a new PC with an Audigy 2 soundblaster. The problem is, that neither the speakers (Logitech Z-5500) nor headphones etc. are found. I think I have installed all drivers for the Soundblaster. Actually, the speakers should be found when they are connected to the PC.
    What can I do?
    (Win XP SP 2)
    thanks.

This sounds like something basic, please forgive me if I have guessed it wrong.
Let me get this straight, you in all probabilities have upgraded from Realtek onboard sound with jack sensing technology. So you would get a pop up through Realtek Audio Manager on chosing what you have connected to the jack eg. headphone, rear out front out Centre/SW etc.
Unfortunately this functionality of jack retasking or auto sensing is not available in any of the creative products.
For connectivity of the speaker system, please refer to the product manual. If you are still using the original analog 5. cables supplied with your Z-5500 speaker system just plug them in firmly with color corresponding color jack if you have value edition of Audigy.

  • No sound from rear speakers; SB audigy 2; Logitech X-530; CMSS is enabled; Win

I have the above setup but am getting no sound out of the rear speakers.
I have tried the self-help route of looking at all of the suggestions to prevois posters, and tried as many as seemed different. eax -> cmss CMSS is turned on (CMSS2 also tried, but still no sound). Drivers reloaded, and updated fromt eh Creative web site. Other sound-related hardward on the PC are: Guitarport - this connects into the line in on the SC card and a Philips SPC900NC webcam with a built-in microphone. I saw a rreply on a Logitech webcam causing issues because of the echo cancelling. Cannot find any equivalent in the philips tho'. Any help appreciated. Thanks

    Hello,
I am running into the same problem. I had a audigy and the sound test would not output sound to the rear or center speakers. I then tried an x-fi card - same problem.
I also tried a different set of speakers... I am pulling my hair out here. This used to work great, can't figure it out. When I run through the speaker test with the x-fi, I hear everything coming out of the front two speakers. It says "rear right" out of the front right speaker. It also says "front right" out of that same speaker.

    SB:0240 Audigy 2 platinum?CAmbridge soundworks DTT2200 5. speakers
    Have tried everything I know:-
Checked FAQ & made sure of CMSS etc. Uninstalled drivers & re-installed latest driver. Checked & re-checked speaker connections.
Board passes all diagnostic tests but on speaker test I only get sound from rear right & rear left speakers.
I only get sound from rear speakers at any time which means I lose out on the dialogue from some video.
    Can anybody help please?

did you go into Windows and set your default Speaker Sound Playback configuration.

  • Audigy 2 + Logitech Z680 speakers, only center channel and sub work

I have an audigy 2 and logitech z680 speakers, and only the center channel and sub are working. I have tried reinstalling drivers, unplugging and replugging everything, i even moved the soundcard to a different pci port. Whenever i try to install any creative things, it tells me that it cannot find any required components. (anything creative). If anyone has had a similar problem or can help, i could use any help i can get. Thanks!
Also, i recently moved the whole system from school to home, and since then it hasn't been working correctly.
    Thanks

Ok, so now I tried to play a DVD movie with my DVD-drive. Before I got this new Audigy sound card and SBS 580 speakers, movies would run almost fine, as in the video and sound would be smooth unless there was a great deal of action occurring, in which case it would be slightly choppy. But now, the video seems to change pace, occasionally stopping entirely for a few seconds, then running again, but slowly, then running normal, then becoming choppy, stopping again, and so on. Also, the sound does the same, sounding almost normal one second and choppy the next. But the biggest deal is the fact that I don't hear any speech! I read somewhere that the center channel handles speech in video playback, and without it I can't hear any talking.
Is the subwoofers center channel broken and should I go get another set with the warranty, or whats the problem?

  • No sound from front centre speaker and sub

I have an Audigy 2 with Creative Inspire 6700 speakers. I have a problem where there is no sound from either the front center speaker or the sub. If I test it with Speaker Setup in Control Panel there is no sound on those two speakers.
Has anyone got any suggestions please?

I have this issue aswell - but do not exspect any help, support from this forum.
This company is crap, I hate them.. They will NEVER be getting a penny from me. The only reason I come here is b/c? I paid a lot of money for my card, and I'm hoping one day for a fix...
