Centro media problems

I had a Palm Zire and have recently purchased a Centro (verizon). I have successfully loaded the software and have transferred all of my contacts and calendar info using the import/export function. I still have my Zire info on the software - I just have two different profiles in the palm desktop software. I have no problems with using the palm desktop software except with the Media icon. When I try to load the media program I just get an error message that just continually says "loading" but nothing happens. I have loaded music onto my Centro using a micro sd and the drag and drop method but I would still like to use the media program that came with the Palm access software.
I would appreciate any ideas or help.

I have this same issue. I upgraded from an m500 to a Centro (Verizon) and the Palm Destop hangs when I click the Media Icon. The status bar at the bottom of the application says, "Loading:" and a progress bar is 1/3 complete. On the right side of the status bars shows "3 of 3".
I have to End Task on the Palm Desktop to get out of it. It shows as, "Not Responding" in the Task Manager.
Everything else on the Palm Desktop works great. Help!

Is this a media problem

Greetings- still learning to use the MacPro..am still moving files from PC -was in the editing stage of home movie on PC finished it up- but it won't play on my Mac- does ok in stand alone DVD player... PC burns to + R DVD only so thats what it's on - a Memorex and also a Maxell... I did not attempt to burn to Verbatim +R DVD cause I had no printable ones on hand - and I like to print the DVDs in printer ... I thought at first the Mac couldn't read +R DVDs but I found an old home movie done on the PC on a +R DVD verbatim and it loaded up fine and allowed me to play it with the built in DVD player on the MAC - so is this a user ID 10 T problem, a media problem, possible format (mpeg2) issue and whatever the heck it is, how can I make one to use in Mac- I do have a program called Toast (have never used it yet) if you write and suggest I do fancy things, pls keep in mind I'm an old gal -still learning and be precise as possible... like there are many TS folders on the disk- which do I have to copy into somewhere etc... Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Baryo- after closing the tray the DVD and it's title show up on the desk top- then the Mac DVD player opens and I push play - words pop up in the DVD player window telling me "supported disk not avail" with a circle w/line thru it. Then I tried to go up to menu bar to File and select open DVD Media - and chose the Disk Icon from the far left column (called December 1994) the DVD that's in thebuilt in Mac - Pioneer drive - doing that opened a window for me to choose either Arcsoft or Video-TS (arcsoft is the program I used to create the DVD on the PC) So, I clicked on Video TS -(A bunch 10 to be exact, of files,extended to the right after clicking Video Ts - they are TS Bup, IFO, VOB type extensions or folders in the Video-TS main folder) Since I didn't know thich one of those to click on, I just clicked on the Original Video TS folder -then I got a pop up telling me "there was a problem opening the media - the media type is not suported. I have tried dragging the Icon to the quicktime Q on my bottom (task?) bar - no can do it says.
Yes it does show up in the left pane of the Disk Utility window also- when I click on the one I need I get the info on the disk in question - ie:

Dvd and cd media problem

I have a major problem
when i try to insert any media (cd or dvdr all of it)in the drive then isays it cannot do it because the disk image cannot be changed is this problem of cd and dvd read&write ownership.
If so please tell me how to change the permisssion because i cannt make a thing out of it when try to do it the ermission area is grey and cannot change it also i have a lot of media but dont know if permission is given or encrypted

as i had bought a new dvdr and it was recognisble and i opened disk utility but then to no gain it gave me the same grey are in ERASE OPTION

Try these two things:
1) Go to the "Go" menu and click on Utilities.
Open Disk Utility.
Select your hard drive and click "repair permissions."
Close/quit Disk Utility.
2) Click (once) on your CD or DVD.
Go to the "File" menu and click on Get Information
Scroll down to Ownership and Permissions
Change to "read and write"
You will need to put in your password.
Beyond these things, I am not completely sure what you are trying to do. Write to a CD-RW? If so, you will need to use Disk Utility to erase it first.

DVD dual layer blank media problem

Hi,
I used HP branded media without any problems in the past. Now I got a roll of Ritek dual layer DVDs and most unfortunately the drive ejects them as if they were incompatible.
Does anybody know if Apple keeps a page with compatible media? Or is there any indication which brands would work and which don't? The dual layer media is still quite expensive and I don't know if I can convince the retailer to take back opened disks...

If they're DVD-R DL discs then there's the problem. They should be DVD+R DL.

Strange Reconnect Media Problem

I recently moved my computer to a new residence and had to disconnect my external media drives from my computer. When I started up FCP yesterday, I found, not surprisingly, that all my clips were disconnected from their media files. So, I proceeded to try to reconnect them. Just as a test, I selected one video clip file in my browser and hit reconnect media. But when I did this, the only "file" that showed up in the list was the character ". Just the quotation mark. So, I am unable to reconnect " to any file, because I have no file named ". The strange thing about this is that if I close this project (which is a close copy of another project) and open the original project, all my files show as connected to their media. For a variety of reasons, I don't want to use the original project file. I want to use the copy. Any ideas why this project (which I've used for 6 months with no problems) is suddenly not connecting to the media but instead is giving me quotation marks?

I echo the posters above. This is a major bummer Apple! How is this fixed? In my scenario, I started a project on my raid, had to pull in clips from a network drive , which ended up becoming offline. When it was placed online again, the clips had to be reconnected, and instead of there being clip names for these in the reconnect media window, there is only " any attempts to get around this either by selecting multiple clip names or single ones are met with "

Reconect media problems

I extracted Video footage from a Home movie DVD coded .VOB.
I have everything edited and I needed to make some changes a few weeks later, but when I opened the project the media shows no connection to the project. When I mannualy reconnected the media, nothing happens not even an error message.
The funny thing is the content in the timeline still plays as if the media is connected, even tho the time line and bin both show "media unconnected".

just out of curiosity, pop the DVD back in and restart your project. See if everything is back on. If it is, then you may have been using the media files out of the DVD directly. If the problem persists then you really need to do a search for your media files. Remember to always have a dedicated location for your media files, so that project files can point directly to them.

Windows Media problem with Airport N

I'm having an odd problem. Since upgrading my airport to the new version, I can't get certain Windows Media files to play. They worked perfectly before with Flip4Mac and on my MacPro with XP bootcamp, but now I get a "URL not found" error. It doesn't work on any of my computers, Intel mac, PPC mac, or XP via boot camp or parrells. These files have been confirmed to work out side mty network.... Also other WMV files on other sites work fine, CNN for example.
Any insight? Is there something wrong in my set up? Is it a bug? Hmmmm....

Airport Extreme N Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Hm, so far away, without testing somethings its hard to say, thats happen.
Its not clear for me ... at first you say, we talking about airport extreme, now it is an airport express - thats different. Because, in default mode the airport extreme work as an cable modem/router. The first physical port (marked as Ethernet WAN Port) is configured as an P2P line.
You can use that port as an normal Ethernet port, but need to configure. May, that ist the problem.

CS3 Relink Media problems

I have a project that I edited two years ago... it's a Matrox LE, HD project. 1920 x 1080. All of the clips are XD Cam HD. (I know 1440 x 1080, but at the time, Matrox didn't have a preset for this...) Upon completing the original project, I trimmed it down.
Now, I have all the files on an external drive. I've tried to open the project, but get the dreaded unlinked media red page with Japanese characters. The funny thing is: ALL OF THE MEDIA is there! I can actually go to the "drive level" and play back the media! When opening Premiere asks me to navigate to the media... I do, but when it opens, it still appears as though MOST of the clips aren't there... two or three come up, and play back just fine in the timeline, the rest do not.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to alleviate this problem?

I have tried relinking the media from the project window.... I have tried on single clips and several clips to RIGHT CLICK and then select "relink media".
I get the navigation prompts, it ALLOWS me to select a clip to relink, and then the nav box closes... the clip in the project window remains the same. What other ways to do this are there?
As for the project file... well, you've given me a good idea. I'll go see what I have in the "vault" of auto saves! I am indeed using the project file as I've "control S'd" like crazy!
I'm using a project file that was TRIMMED down from the original in Premiere itself, using their tool to do so! I've had GREAT luck with that in the past. I'm a type A guy, so now I'll scour my drives to find the original project, if it still exists!
I am indeed using the Matrox card still... I have no idea what could cause this!

Flash Media Problem in CS4?

I've been using DW CS3 since it came out and have inserted
numerous flash video in web pages using the "Insert", "Media",
"Flash Video" menu commands. I mention this so that you will know I
have a basic understanding of how to do this and I have never had a
problem.
I've recently upgraded to DW CS4 and all of a sudden, I can
no longer get Flash Videos to work. I go through the same menu
command (except "Flash Video" has been replaced by "FLV..." Despite
the difference in menu command, it appears to be the same since the
same dialog box opens up for me to select flv file, skin and size.
However, once I complete the process and save it and view it either
in Live View OR in a browser, the video does NOT play. Instead of
the video playing I get a a blank white square the size of the

The other issue is that I've gone back to DW CS3 (I still
have both on my computer) to see if I could enter the new video on
the page there and now it won't work either. The only change I've
made to my computer since this has worked is that I've installed

Centro Hotsync problem: two Date Books, second never finishes syncing

I have a Centro. It worked fine syncing for many months using the USB cable. For some reason, now it won't synchronize. All the information in Palm Desktop on my computer disappeared -- I only have my calendar on the phone now. When I try to sync, the HotSync Progress box appears on my computer, and if I show the details, it gives me the following, where there are two Date Books and the second one never completes:
Package Installer -- done
Install -- done
Install Service Templates -- done
Install To Card -- done
HotSync Exchange -- done
Date Book -- done
Date Book -- synchronizing
Address Book
Address Book
To Do List
To Do List
Memo Pad

As you can see, several items from Date Book on are doubled, and the second Date Book gets stuck in perpetual synchronizing.
I haven't found any answer for this in searching the forums. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Palm Desktop. I followed advice on Palm's troubleshooting page to rename my username on Palm Desktop and to delete my username from the phone. None of it made any difference.

check the hotsync log for the 2nd user (2nd centro that froze).
try see if you can find any significant error message or codes.
also try to attempt syncing the 2nd centro and this time change the action of the datebook/calendar to handheld overwrites the desktop.
that if your desktop is good to be overwritten.
it is very unusual to behave this way where both of the centros have 2 different user ID's and both are syncing to palm desktop.

The best way is to not sync media rather use an SD card to store pictures. Less stress on you and more free memory for your device.

IPhoto Media Problems with iDVD

I know there are several posts on this subject in the forum but I'm not sure I have come across a real answer.
Like other subscribers I cannot access my iPhoto libraries (I have several) in iDVD or, for that matter, iMovie. The applications are up to date and I have rebuilt the AlbumData.xml file several times.
My libraries are on an external firewire disk so they are not in the default location (i.e. user/pictures/iPhoto library). I tried to get around this problem with iPhoto Buddy but the truth is nothing is working. I can access movies and music from the media tab in iDVD just not the photos.
Drag and drop works but I was expecting iDVD to pick up the location of my iPhoto libraries.
Has anyone got a foolproof solution to this problem, please?

OK I have resolved this issue with help from the iPhoto Buddy support team and thought I'd document the solution in case it helps anyone else.
Basically, the library I wanted to use included an ampersand (&) in the name as well as an apostrophe. I renamed the library and removed the ampersand and the apostrophe and am now able to switch between libraries when using iPhoto Buddy.

Reconnect Media Problem

One of my files on the FCP7 Timeline has gone offline. The file name is Clip #366. But when I Reconnect Media it will ONLY give me the option to Reconnect to Clip #367!
Out of frustration I tried to Reconnect to Clip #367 but then it wouldn't even allow me to do this!
What, if anything, am I doing wrong?

There won't be sync issues due to re-naming, however, when you export from QT you'll stamp it with a new timecode which will cause problems. Here's what I would try.
1. Open clip in Qt and export, as mentioned.
2. Bring that clip into FCP.
3. Look at the Media Start timecode of your original clip in the Browser window and make a note of it.
4. Double click the new duplicate of your clip to bring it to the Viewer, and ensure the playhead is at the very start.
5. Go to Modify>Timecode... and enter the start timecode from you r original clip in the Source TC: Timecode box.
6. Save.
7. Reconnect to this new master clip, with it's new timecode.

FCP X and Importing Media problems

I currently have the Macbook Pro Retina (running Mountain Lion), A Sony HDR-PJ10e Camcorder and Final Cut Pro X and am having increasing problems trying to import the video shot on the camcorder.
Prior to installing ML, the camcorder would be recognised within FCP, but refused to recognise any of the footage, indeed if I tried to import the MTS files direct, they are greyed out which I have previously read is a known issue of sorts and that only import from camera can be used (but is not working in this case)
I have tried encoding the MTS files using Adobe Media Encoder, i have tried various formats but the only only that FCP will recognise is quicktime MOV files.
What can possibly be causing this problem?
I should add that the footage is shot in 1080p, but even down converted to an MPEG2 file (be that .mpg or the split .m2v and wav files) FCP still refuses to recognize these as a valid format as they are greyed out when trying to "import files"
Any help would be appreciated but I have to confess to being a relative novice to all things mac.

Prior to upgrading to ML, the camcorder was recognised but refused to import anything using the method you describe (I already tried that). I was able to make an archive from the camcorder but it will not even open that archive to iport anything.
Unfortunately, since the upgrade to ML when the camcorder connects to the computer, the PMB software crashes. The camcorder is still available in Finder after pmb has crashed, but it is no longer recognised in FCP as it was prior to the upgrade to ML.
The camcorder has internal memory and the ability to use a card, but everything is currently stored on the internal memory, everything is in the exact same format, frame rates etc...

Transmitting media problem

Hi,
I was trying the sample "Transmitting Media over RTP" on the solutions page in JMF section on Sun's site.
I wanted to transmit media over a network using RTP, and through the transmiter class in the sample.
The problem is when I tried to run the sample "AVTransmit2.class" with the required parameters, I keep getting the error, "Couldn't create DataSource"
because it falied to create a data source for the passed locator and I do not know why is this happening

Hi,
As far as I understand what he means is:
He use the wrong media Locator. I suggest you to go and check the JMFRegistry for the correct mediaLocator. Then use it as you mediaLocator.
