Centro (verizon) goes straight to VM after on standby for many hours

hi all. my verizon centro has worked flawlesly for a year. i did drop it a week ago but i don't think this started happening at the same time.
every morning when i wake up, calls to my phone go straight to voicemail. i can't quite figure it out. it seems to be an overnight issue because all day when i have it on standby i am still able to get calls. i thought at first it was because of the charging but last night i didn't charge it and it still went straight to VM.
once i make a call with the phone, it unlocks whatever the issue is, because then i can immediately get calls again.
any ideas?????

It is always the first thing I check. It seems to be a random problem. It seems that as soon as I made an outgoing call, it triggered everything. Then texts came in and calls rang. But I will have the problem again tomorrow or even the next day.

Apple told you it was unrepairable.... You had it serviced by an unauthorized party. It's now no longer eligible for out of warranty replacement by Apple.
There's really nothing else we can say about it. Find a competent 3rd party repair shop or buy a new one.

Yes I have tried that last weekend ad this weekend. I have tried wi fi at different times of the day too; in case it is speed issue. I have tried selecting only backing up limited content and not every thing per what other users suggest.
It's maybe either the router is lousy or there is something wrong with my software or hardware.

I have a similar (if not the exact same) problem! Here are some more details if they are helpful.
My iPhone 4 died earlier today and will not turn back on. It seemed that the battery died while it was not in use. I attempted to charge it on one charging cord in multiple wall outlets and none worked. Assuming it was a malfunction in the cord, I took my phone home to try charging it there.
Again, I attempted charging it in multiple outlets with a different cord than previously used. None of these seemed to work, though they would flash the Connect to Power screen for a brief moment before returning to a black screen. I assumed that my phone was simply so depleted of battery that it needed a long charge.
I charged it for 30+ minutes without any success, then attempted to charge it through my MacBook instead of through a wall outlet. iTunes did not even recognize that my phone plugged in (and still hasn't). I've attempted charging it for an extended period of time (1+ hour) with no luck. Sometimes when I press the Power button it will flash the Connect to Power screen once more before returning to black.
The Apple logo never appears, nor does any apparent progress on charging. I have attempted holding down the Power and Home buttons simultaneously for 10 - 30 second increments. Still no luck. There is no reason anything should be happening with this phone that I can identify.
I have no warranty and just recently replaced my previous phone which had had similar problems before completely crashing. This is a phone new to me that was previously used but in almost new conditions and factory reset by Apple prior to my purchase.
Does this mean that my phone battery is dead?
Is there anything else I can do??

When is Verizon going to push OTA Android 5.0 for VS985? Rest of the world has it - why not US?

Seems Verizon is one of the last to push this to their customers. Come on Verizon, we were stuck with 4.4.2 on release day and you have done nothing for us except that stupid video call update you pushed a month back.
Hell, even straighttalk pushed 5.0 to their customers already.
We pay more for less with Verizon - hell I am paying almost 150 a month for ONE LINE. Since we are paying premium we expect premium.
No crap about "we have to ensure it works on our network". You guys have had 6 months since Developer release and 2 since LG Released final code. It doesn't take 2 months to test it on one device.
Stop dragging heals and take care of your customers for once.

This is the same reason the VS985 shipped with a locked bootloader - it's all about protecting Verizon's ability to charge it's customers for what has become one of the most expensive services in the US.
It's all about the Greenback and nothing about the OS Stability.

Just wondering when this was going to happen. My wife is due for an upgrade and I'd like t wait and get the iPhone 4 for free rather than paying 100 bucks right now and extend the contract for two more years.

After being on for an hour FF starts using up to 1.6 GB of CPU

This has been going on for a long time, but it is really annoying. I have to restart firefox all the time. If I don't it will just crash. The cpu use goes up to 1.6 GB and in general having more then 2 tabs makes it really slow [even with low cpu usage 200-300 MB].
Yes, I have read all the help topics and done what I could [few months ago], but if else things are getting worst. I really can't use it for all the things I need it and there is always a chance if me loosing any messages I'm writing due to the crashing problem.
Any help would be appreciated

Recently my FF crashed and all info was lost. I had to create a new profile and substitute the information from the old one to the new one. Opening the old profile didn't work. I did not press any shortcuts, FF simply crashed. That's fixed now but I'm just notifying you.

Sometimes after running Firefox for an hour or so, the menu bar at the top of the screen(Mac) freezes.

This would be the bar with File, Edit, View, etc. Trying to figure out why it might be doing that and a solution.

It is certainly not normal. The first thing I would suggest is to reset the SMC. Shut it down, remove the battery and the power supply, hold down the power button for 5 seconds or more, then replace the battery and power supply. Restart and see if it works.

Power supply problem a little better after unplugging imac for 24 hours

I'm currently having power supply problems (at least I hope it's the power supply and not the mother board), similar to many others I've seen on these boards. What I've noticed is that if I unplug my iMac for about 24 hours I can get it to run again for a little while. Unplugging it for a few minutes (or even 8 hours) doesn't seem to help. My iMac won't get much further than the starting chime before it loses power. But it seems to me that unplugging it for 24 hours has gotten me between 5 days to 5 hours of use before I unexpectedly lose power.
Is there anything to account for this or am I just imagining things? Ultimately, I don't think the answer will help me much, but I am curious to know. I'm taking my iMac to a Mac Genius tomorrow to see if they can help diagnose the problem. I saw a little hit in my video today, which was a first, so I suspect the problem may be getting worse. I'll probably be buying a new power supply soon.

I'm having the same problem. They say to restart you have to unplug the power, wait 10 seconds and then plug it back in but apparently it's not enough. I have to unplug for about 30 seconds, plug back in, and wait anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours before it'll start up again properly. The last time I had this issue was in october '06- when I had a new logic board and power supply put in. Now I'm worried because my applecare is expired by about 3 months. I bought the computer in feb. '05. I hope a new board doesn't cost more than what the computer itself is worth but I'm afraid that'll be the case...

My 5-year old iMac is freezing up and will not reboot unless it is turned off for an hour or so. What is going on?

After some heavy lifting ( backing up or working in several applications) the system will slow down to a crawl and then freeze. A hard shutdown and restart will usually not reboot it. I typically get a white screen with a floder with a ? mark on it, a circle with a line through it, an Apple logo with a spinning wheel for many hours (I let it go overnight once to no avail), or a simple white screen.   The disk checks out fine with Drive Genius and disk usility, from both the hard disk (when I can get it running) and from the Disk utilite and Drive Genius Disks.    I have erased (zeroed out) the disk and reinstalled Snow Leopard several times with all updates. Reparied permissions successfully. It runs swimmingly until I start loading up files and try to use them or tao back up to Time Machine on a Time Capsule.   It will then repeat the whole scenario.   Often, If I leave it shut down for an hour or two, or overnight, it will boot fine, even after all of the prior white screens.
I have taken it to the Genius Bar a coupole of times, and they have done a system reinstall and analysis to no avail.   Everything looks fine. Infact, ast time it had rested and while it did not boot before I left, it did fine there.
The only devices connected are an ethernet cable, bluetooth mouse, and keyboard. What's up?
I think this is a hardware not a software issue.

    BankerDad, let's see if we can change this device's behavior. Is there any physical or liquid damage on that device? Connect it to a charger to see if the charging battery icon populates on the screen. Keep us posted.

SQL Developer hangs for a few minutes after being idle for a while.

Is anyone aware of any issues with SQL Developer hanging for several minutes after being idle for several hours? After being idle for several hours (and probably minimized), when we bring up SQL Developer we just get a blank white window for several minutes before it becomes functional. Obviously, this isn't a critical issue, but sure is annoying when you run into it.

This is fairly typical java application behaviour. For whatever reason, they are particularly prone to being swapped out by the operating system and take time to swap back in.
There is an add-in around called "keepresident" which helps this but I thought it had been superceded in later JDK version.

MBP harddrive makes a lot of noise after working for few hours

Harddrive on My MacBookPro INtel 15" 2.0 makes nose after using it for few hours?
It also overheats. I took it to Apple care and they performed series of test and found nothing. To be honest, this is the on laptop that I had which gave anourmous amount of heat. I cant put it on my laps so I wouldnt call laptop.
Are these know issues?

My MBP doesnt boot after update / Prohibition sign flashes twice and then goes straight to OX Utilities

I thought I would never be here, but I am.
After updating iTunes and Memory Clean in App Store (nothing unusual) my MAC stopped booting properly.
MBP / early 2011 / Mountain Lion
It shows the Apple logo flashing twice the prohibiting sign (cancel circle), after that it goes straight to the OS X Utilities.
Note:
- It recognizes the HD and the Recovery partition.
- Verify permission shows a lot of /Applications/iTunes issues, but I have repaired like 5 times and still showing issues.
- Hardware test passed OK.
- Repair disk, no issues.
- Shift (safe mode) doesn't work (lot of flashing ? folder, apple logo, etc).
- PRAM restarted, twice.
I can't reinstall or launch the ML installer, when I go trough the install process which mandatory requires Internet connection and AppStore login, it states: This item is temporarily unavailable. Try again later.
Please help me, I'm desperate this is my production machine and I'm travelling.
What I'm missing?

You cannot reinstall Mountain Lion from the App Store, but you can install Mavericks which is free and will run on your computer. Here's what you do:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
