  • Century gothic font problem with pages 09

I have a document using century gothic with Pages 09 on an Intel Mac with the most recent Snow Leopard upgrade.  It looks and prints fine. When I transfer this document to another computer with pages 09 the century gothic font is missing and pages asks if I want to replace with another font. What can I do? I need century gothic. This second computer is a G4 so it has the most recent version of Leopard. I need to use this G4 to print large quantities.
I have all of the fonts loaded onto this computer using the Leopard extras installer DVD. Century gothic is not one of the included fonts. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have Century Gothic on the Intel mac probably because of numerous Adobe products on the Intel Mac. If I load say Photoshop on the G4 mac then maybe Pages will recognize Century gothic once this font is loaded onto the G4. I converted the document to a PDF and then tried to print from the G4. It almost worked but the last line in the document get it's lower half chopped off. Any suggestion?

Just copy the font from one computer to the other.

  • Problems with Century Gothic font with Mavericks

I use Century Gothic font quite frequently & since updating to Mavericks, the larger text is distorted. Any suggestions on how I can sort out this problem?
    Here is a screenshot of size 36 & 12 - 12 displays fine, 36 is distorted & unreadable!
    Thanks for your help

    Hi, Viking,
Could you please clarify where the font should be saved to? Where do I find the "login directory/Library/Fonts folder"? (sorry if this is a dumb question.)
I just installed Mavericks and Century Gothic displays and prints properly in other applications but not in iWeb. It shows up in iWeb in the fonts panel but it doesn't display correctly. Century Gothic is in my Font Book.
    Thanks for your help!

    Not on this list.
Maybe it gets installed with something else? For example, I have MS Ofiice on the 10.7 system but not on the others.

  • Century gothic displays in adobe reader 8 and not in 9

    Hi
I have created a pdf using adobe livecycle and i have set the address font in my header to Century Gothic. When i view the doc in Adobe reader 8, it shows it exactly the way i want. When i view it in adobe 9, it has changed to arial. Why is this happening? and how can i prevent it from changing when viewed in the different versions of adobe reader?
Also, it doesnt make sense to say that the font is supported in adobe 8 and NOT in 9. Surely capability should be backward compatible?
    PLEASE HELP!!!
    Fatima

    Hi Hitender
The document does not show the correct font in Adobe Reader 9.0. We have now downgraded our adobe reader on the server where we are printing the docs from.  We have tried installing the font onto that server but that was also unsuccessful.
Please let me know if you have any advice for my problem.
    Thanks

  • Century Gothic incorrect display

Not sure if this is an Illustrator or Acrobat question!? I created a document in Illustrator CS6 using the font Century Gothic. I converted the text to outlines then saved the document as a PDF. When the document is viewed in Acrobat Pro or Reader, the lowercase letter "L" does not display properly. It's as if the pixel depth is not granular enough, so it increases the width of the letter. If I zoom in past 200% the letter seems to display properly, but anything below that it displays oddly. I sent the exact same file to my DropBox account, downloaded it onto my iPad (retina) and the letters look just fine; same with my iPhone.
    Screenshot: http://www.purpleproof.com/downloads/century_gothic.png
Note: This happens whether I create/view on my Mac or my PC. Additionally, if I do not convert to outlines, the font displays just fine. Regardless of the display, the document always prints correctly. I've experienced this since CS3, but never cared too much since most of my documents were for print only. Now many of my docs will be viewed rather than printed, therefor proper display rendering is a much bigger issue.
    Any thoughts?

This is a well-known failing of outlined sans serif type and not much you can do about it.
However it looks o.k. when you zoom in as far as you can go and will print o.k. too.
    Just looks nasty on screen.

  • Photoshop CS5.1 not seeing any Trade Gothic fonts

I'm sorry if this question has been answered before, but I didnt seem to find it anywhere. I cannot use ANY Trade Gothic fonts within my Photoshop at all. I have tried on different accounts on my Mac Pro and they all are able to access it and change to to but on mine it never shows up on my list. It's definitely in my Fonts Book. I'd like to add that this happened after I upgraded from 10.6 to 10.7.4 but that seems to not make too much sense since all the other accounts on this machine can see the font just fine. Please help!

I have a new hard drive and OS (Yosemite)
When I try to install Photoshop, I get 'configuration error 15' and think it may be a registration problem.
My late husband bought CS5 for me and I don't know his password.
Our email addresses were with BT at that time and I've changed to another provider and the previous email addresses no longer exist.
This means that I can't alter the password.
I can play with my existing PSDs but can not get JPGs to open in Photoshop.
    I get the error message.
I don't know much about computers but am a wizz with photoshop ... restoring and colourising pics

  • Copperplate Gothic font not working in some versions of Firefox

Copperplate Gothic font not properly working in some versions of Firefox. whereas perfectly working in remaining browsers. when I follow the instruction and Restart Firefox in Safe Mode, the problem does not happen in Safe Mode. According to instruction for Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems, If problem not occur in Safe Mode, it is most likely because of hardware acceleration. when I Turn off hardware acceleration, the problem is no longer happening, then hardware acceleration is likely the cause of this issue. How i can fix this issue for Firefox on deployed site without changing font.

Does Firefox use another font instead?
If this is the case then which font?
You can use this extension to see which fonts are used for selected text.

  • Does keynote have Trade Gothic font?

I need to do a presentation on the font Trade Gothic. Only problem is I can't find the font in PowerPoint or InDesign. How about Keynote?

If the fon't isn't on your computer then keynote won't have it. All applications use the same font list. If you want a copy of trade gothic you'll have to pay I'm afraid. There two versions, one by Adobe, one by linotype. I don't know which one you want but they are available here http://www.myfonts.com/search/%28trade+gothic%29/fonts/

  • Font spacing issues

Have run into an interesting issue that I haven't been able to get to the bottom of.
The font in question is "Century Gothic", a fairly well-known and used font. When using the "regular" setting, everything seems to space out just fine. But if I attempt to use Bold, Italics, or Bold Italics, the character spacing goes nuts:
Here is a bit of test text in Pages:
Here is the same text (copy/pasted) into a Word 2011 document:
Of particular interest is that when either is printed - they print exactly as they look on-screen, complete with spacing issues.
Also notice that the "Bold" doesn't appear as "bold" in the Word document, but spacing is much better.
Any suggestions what might be the issue?

For your “Century Gothic” font, there may exist, typographic hints that Pages needs enabled for this font to achieve the correct visual presentation. Type ⌘+T to bring up the Fonts panel. Select the gear pull-down and select Typography. Perhaps the Pages and TextEdit teams have digressed in their design goals.
A pop-up panel will offer a (variable by font) list of available settings, or none.

  • Adding a Font

I'd like to use the "Century Gothic" font in cfdocument. I
have the font in my c:/windows/font computer on my own machine. Is
there any reason I can't upload these font files to the server and
use them? Are there any licensing fees I need to worry about? If
so, where do I go to make this legit? Who might own this font? How
much can I expect to pay someone to use this font if indeed I need
    to pay someone?

I don't expect Apple to modify the iPad's OS to allow for font installation. It would be a matter of days before users would flood the support site asking why the iPad is not reacting to their finger after installing 50 new fonts.
What I feel would be a PERFECT solution, is to modify the Mac version of Keynote to allow Font Embedding and then make that embedding compatible with Keynote for iPad. That way each character set would be loaded onto memory on a need-to-display-basis.
Either that, or Apple should create a proprietary font format (available through the App store at .99¢ per font :^) and have a FONT section under preferences on which you can install up to, lets say, 5 fonts, which would become available across all text editing apps.
All I know is, I NEED CENTURY GOTHIC!!! Please!!!!!!

  • Blurry bold font after mavericks update

Bought a used 2011 mini that was on Lion and upgraded it to mavericks today but after the update bold fonts look like this http://i.imgur.com/uM3hBdY.png
This is on chrome but I've tested safari as well and remember this happening on a different mac I think from the jump from Lion to ML but I can't remember what fixed it. I believe it had something to do with going into the fonts folder. Can anyone tell me for sure?

I'm sorry but new iWork apps lost their charm. Until Apple puts back all the functionality they stole, I'm sticking with the version(s) just prior to Mavericks, iOS7 and the related new iWork. However, my Century Gothic fonts in my previously designed and still useful Keynotes look like the one pictured at the top of this thread. Soooooo, the question remains whether there is some way I can get the font back to where it once was WITHOUT downgrading my iWork apps to the new ones? Thanks in advance for any thoughtful suggestions.

  • Font displaying "compressed"

I have a video that is 11:30, shot in 720p and 30fps. I've used Century Gothic font in Boris to make the font "tangerine" color and to give it a black border. It looks fine in FCP 7.
However, I've used the File > Share function to export defaults for both Apple TV.m4v and iPad and iPhone 4.m4v. When I view the video in QuickTime made for iPad and iPhone 4 (a 725 MB file, 1280 x 720 pixels) the font looks the way it does in FCP. But when I view the video (in the same QuickTime player) made for Apple TV (a 415 MB file, 1280 x 720 pixels) the font is smaller and vertically compressed. The rest of the video (people, trees, desks, etc.) looks and displays the same as the other. It seems that the font is the only thing that's different. This is true every place in the video where I use text. I've only used the one font (with both bold and italics) in the video. I've used it in 42, 36, 30, and 24 point sizes all with similar results. You should be able to see the problem with these jpgs:
I went into FontBook and the font (TrueType) is valid. What is causing the font to look compressed when "Apple TV" is used, but to look properly when "iPad and iPhone 4" is?
    Thanks in advance.

Michael, thanks. I tried what you suggested and was surprised to find that displaying the exported file in QT showed the font properly, but everything else displayed as a 4:3 and not 16:9 image. Perhaps when an image is created from FCP's default settings for AppleTV it assumes a different HxW ratio than it does for the iPad and iPhone 4 settings. And, maybe fonts are handled one way and the rest of the image is exported/compressed differently.
    Thank you again.

  • Fonts ok on one site, missing on another

hi, i am going out of my mind trying to figure out what is going on with my font issue.
i am using iweb 3.0.3 on a macbook pro, osx 10.6.8.
my website is http://www.sarahstarlight.com - this is a "jump site" for 3 of my websites (this comes into play later)
here is the issue: when you go the site, all of the fonts on the home page are coming up as a standard font when i view the site on my desktop or iphone, when they are actually supposed to be curly and sanskrit looking - which is how they look on  my laptop browser. i understand that if a computer does not have that font installed, it will default to something else. and this is the mystery! click on any one of the 3 links on the jump site and it will take you to another site, *also build in iweb*, and look for the "home" button in the star - THERE! do you see the font! that is it! it actually shows up on ALL 3 of my websites in EVERY PAGE in the little star, but NOT on my JUMP site! WHY???
here's the trouble shooting i have done:
    - i completely deleted the entire domain and rebuilt the page
    - i tried deleting the text boxes and putting the text in a shape because the text on the other 3 sites is inside a shape
    - i went to ftp and deleted all the files and re-uploaded
    - i restarted my computer
please help me before i loose my mind!
    THANK YOU!
    sarah

If you do not have those fonts installed on the viewing computer other fonts will be substituted for them.  That's why it's recommended to use Web Safe Fonts. That way all computers, Mac or PC, will see the site the same.
If the problem font is only a title you can add a drop shadow at 0%  to convert that text box into an image file that will be seen the same by all computers.  However, doing so will exclude that text from being used by any search engines in ranking your site.
The Century Gothic font you use is not a web safe font so those computers that don't have it installed will view it using whatever is designated as a substitute.

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the block elements. The elements within these blocks have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the block itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the block element and place a second block element within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
    2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a block set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For blocks where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the block element's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
    3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar blocks could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
    4) If you prefer your nav on the left instead of the right, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all left instead of all right) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the blocks around in the HTML source.

I am not sure what's happening with IE9 (no live site) but I had real problems viewing your code in Live View - until I removed the HTML comment marked below.
