Certain playlists are in reverse order

Dear All,
All of my music on my iPhone has sync'ed properly, but in one play list titled "Purchased", all the songs are listed from oldest to newest, even though in my iTunes database, they are sorted by most recent purchases first.
Other than manually moving the songs using the edit function while in Music, can I get them sorted the way I wanted them to play?
Thanks-

How many icons do you keep on the desktop - and why?
Performance tip: Keep the Desktop clutter-free (empty, if possible)
Mac OS X's Desktop is the de facto location for downloaded files, and for many users, in-progress works that will either be organized later or deleted altogether. The desktop can also be gluttonous, however, becoming a catch-all for files that linger indefinitely.
Unfortunately - aside from the effect of disarray it creates - keeping dozens or hundreds of files on the Desktop can significantly degrade performance. Not necessarily because the system is sluggish with regard to rendering the icons on the desktop and storing them in memory persistently (which may be true in some cases), but more likely because keeping an excessive number of items on the Desktop can cause the windowserver process to generate reams of logfiles, which obviously draws resources away from other system tasks. Each of your icons on your desktop is stored as a window in the window server, not as an alias. The more you have stored, the more strain it puts on the window server. Check your desktop for unnecessary icons and clear them out.
Keeping as few items as possible on the Desktop can prove a surprisingly effective performance boon. Even creating a single folder on your Desktop and placing all current and future clutter inside, then logging out and back in can provide an immediately noticeable speed boost, particularly for the Finder.
And it is why Apple invented 'Stacks' for Leopard.
Here is Apple's take on the subject:

  • When downloading updates from iTunes to my iPhone my playlists appear in reverse order with least played at the top. I just want the playlist to appear in the same order as my iTunes library. This seems to have changed after downloading iCloud

When dowloading updates from my iTunes library onto my iPhone
my playlists appear in reverse order with the least played at the top of the list
and most played at the end on the playlist.
Therefore I cant play my favourites in the order that I like to hear them.
This all changed when I recently downloaded the iCloud application.

    Hi Jim,
Is this temporary cache accessing my data when I play songs from it? As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm still able to listen to these songs even when my phone is in airplane mode and the download icon is still present next to said songs. This implies that the songs are already downloaded onto my phone even if I didn't opt to download them directly from the cloud -- they're on my phone because my phone was shuffling my library on a wifi network.

  • Songs are in reverse order on iPad, but correct on iTunes

I have a number of Smart Playlists that look fine when displayed on iTunes, but when iTunes copies them to my iPad Air, the list of albums shows up in the correct order but the songs in each album are sorted in reverse order.
So for example, I have a Smart Playlist defined where "Artist is Jean Michel Jarre".  That playlist is sorted by Year in list view and by Year-then-Title in Grid view.
When I look at that same Playlist on my iPad Air, all of his albums appear in chronological order (which I expect), but the songs on each album are listed last-to-first.  So Oxygene (his first album) shows up before Equinoxe (his second album), but the list of songs on the Oxygene album are shown as: Part VI, Part V, Part IV, Part III, Part II, Part I.  All of the albums on the list are in the right order, but the list of songs on each album appears backwards in each one.
This is just one example of a bug that manifests itself a lot on my iPad.  I have a lot of Smart Playlists that misbehave just like this.  I deal with it by creating not-smart playlists that are exact copies of the Smart Playlists -- but honestly, why offer Smart Playlists if they're not going to display correctly?  If they're this buggy, why am I using them at all?
Does anybody know of a workaround for this bug?  Does anybody know whether Apple is aware of it, and if they have any plans to fix it?  Please? Maybe? Someday?

I am now home from work, and over the past hour I have tried every combination of up-arrows, down-arrows, Copy To Play Order, sorting on the leftmost column, sorting on the Year column, etc. etc. that I could think of.  I believe I have followed your recommendations slavishly and to the letter.
My Jean Michel Jarre Smart Playlist is sorted with the triangle on the leftmost column, and in iTunes, the playlist order is correct.  I have sync'd my iTunes library to the iPad several times, I have unchecked that playlist, performed the sync again to remove it from the iPad entirely, checked it again and performed the sync again -- I have also tried closing the Music app on the iPad and restarting it -- I've also tried deliberately sorting the tracks in iTunes in reverse order to see if the iPad does anything any differently, including a "Copy to Play Order" for good luck -- and every combination of all of these choices results in exactly the same outcome: on the iPad, albums show up in chronological order, and tracks in each album show up in reverse order.  Nothing I do makes any difference at all.
Here's hoping iOS 8 at least doesn't make things any worse.  Maybe if the gods are smiling, it might actually solve this problem.  I was hoping that the upgrade to iTunes 11.4 might have made a difference, but, sadly, no such luck ... which is why my hopes for salvation in iOS 8 are not high ... but that doesn't stop me from being grateful to you for trying to help.  Thank you for your time.  I do appreciate it.

  • Smart playlists are not in alphabetical order on iOS 5.1 devices

One of the most frustrating things for me about iTunes Match is the fact that the smart playlists in iTunes (version 10.6) do not sync in alphabetical order on my iPad/iPhone running iOS 5.1.
Even though I click on the Name column and the songs in iTunes appear in alphabetical order, the songs appear in a random order on the iPad. I spent hours trying to fix this by turning iTunes Match off on my iPad, turning it on etc all to no avail. I created new smart playlists thinking that maybe the original smart playlists were corrupted in some way by the upgrade to the latest version of iTunes. This did not work either.
Then, I had an idea. I created a new playlist (not a smart one), called it Test Alpha, copied the songs from the smart playlist into it and waited for my iPad to update.
Voila! The songs in this new, non-smart playlist are in alphabetical order.
I do hope that this problem is fixed. It is a pain to do this for the 15 odd smart playlist I have. Hope this helps someone else.

No. And the problem persists in iOS 6 with the latest version of iTunes.
For three weeks, I had been talking on and off with a techie in Singapore. She got me to run all these test, send screen shots etc..
In the end, I was told that the engineers said 'that is how it's supposed to be'. Well, thank you very much. No help at all. No further discussion about the issue ensued.
Apple's arrogance will soon be the cause of its share price collapsing. My solution? I have not renewed my subscription to iTunes Match.

  • IPod Classic will not update certain playlists

I have a 120GB iPod Classic running software 2.0.1, and I cannot get it to update some playlists. Some will have a different album artwork than in iTunes, and the couple that I really care about are in reverse order.
I tried creating new playlists of the same albums with slightly different names, but they still show up in reverse order on the iPod, which doesn't work so well for a story.
Last nigth I got so frustrated that I restored my iPod to try to get it to work, but still the same playlists are showing up in reverse order.
I have tried restarting my iPod, reseting it, restoring it. I have even run diskwarrior on my iPod, and have tried trashing the com.apple.iPod.plist, to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas, or am I SOL?

    Update!
This is what I did to fix both the skipping songs problem and the iPod verifying forever & not able to restore problem (because of iTunes 9):
    a) I used Disk Utility to reformat my iPod while in Disk Mode using the instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363?viewlocale=en_US
    and here:
    http://www.methodshop.com/gadgets/ipodsupport/erase/index.shtml#backup
    b) Do not unplug your iPod after reformatting (mine showed up as a firewire disk) - simply launch iTunes ( I went back to 8.2) and follow the Restore instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339
iPod is recognized, syncs and doesn't skip songs anymore after that miserable experience with iTunes 9!!!

  • Playlist synching out of order

My playlists are out of order on my iPad and iPhone.  In iTunes the playlist shows the way I want it (sorted by date added...last added shows first).  However when I open the playlist in either my iPad or iPhone they playlist order is completely messed up.  In fact, I can't figure out what the order is as it isn't date added, alphabetical, artist, etc.
I have the latest software on all devices and I use iCloud synching and iCloud matching but noticed this problem before I used iCloud but after I had upgrade to iOS5 and OSX 10.7.2.  Also, I have right moused clicked on the playlist in iTunes and selected "Copy To Play Order".
Does anyone know what to do?
    Thanks

Me too, on my ipod Touch only (correct on iTunes and correct on iPod Classic).  So irritating!  It's ALMOST in reverse order (least recent at the top, rather than most recent the way I want it), but then within an artist, it's in arbitrary order.    No fixes found yet.

  • Printing config sm to be set to print in reverse order. How to fix?

OSX 10.6.3 and MS Word 12.23. When I go to print-to-disk a Word document (i.e. turn it into a PDF using Preview as the default display tool) I get a PDF whose pages are in reverse order. Fine for hard copy output, useless for PDF. Every Print pref or config setting I look for offers no help and, of course, as is completely normal, the Help menu offers nothing either.
I have found an easy fix for a small document — do a "preview" of the document in the Print dialog then drag the pages manually to where they should be. But not every document I work with is small.
    Suggestions please.

Oh John, thanks for trying to help. However, I'm not trying to print to any printer. I'm trying to "print-to-disk" i.e. save as a PDF to the desktop so I can later send it as an email attachment.
And by the way, I forgot to mention for you and other kind folk in here — the Word print dialog box does contain a setting Copies & Pages/Page Handling/Page Order with the options "automatic, normal, reverse" but it makes no difference what I select, I still end up with "reverse".
    Grrr

  • Can I chnge the context menu "open in new tab / window" options back to the previous version (reverse order)?

In Firefox 4, the context menu "open in new tab / open in new window" options are in reverse order compared to 3.6. Can this be "fixed," i.e. change the menu item order? I use this feature constantly and it's a matter of habit, also still use some 3.6 machines.

You can use the Menu Editor extension to re-arrange the menus - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/menu-editor

  • CProjects - PS - elements on the first level in reversed order

    Hello,
I am using the hierarchical Accounting with PS and facing a problem with the order of the created elements.
The project definition and the second level are in the correct order. Somehow the first level (-> the level with the phases in cProjects) are in reversed order.
Can someone tell possible reasons for this?
    Thx, Max

    Hi Max,
It is a known problem, but there is no solution so far . The purpose of the replication is for the controlling, and from the controlling point of view. It does not care, which wbs is on the left or on the right.  There is even a note to indicate this system behaviour.
    Kind regards,

  • Playlists are all in reverse order

i've got a 32gb touch, 2nd gen, running xp, latest itunes... blah blah
for some odd reason. all my playlists are in the reverse order...is there anything i can do, besides restoring my ipod?

okay there's some sort of error with handling playlists...if you select songs in itunes, and then select "create new playlist from selection", for some reason it shows up in the reverse order on the ipod...
sorting won't make a difference.... what i did was manually drag and drop songs to playlists.... restoring the ipod didnt work.... sigh... please iron out these bugs apple!

  • When I burn a disk from my playlist the songs are out of order. How can I fix this? Thanks!

When I burn a disk from my playlist the songs are out of order. How can I fix this? Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure but I think you create your play order manually then select the playlist, right click it (or use ctrl+click) & select "Copy to play order".
I think when you burn that playlist it should obey that order, it has been so long since I made a mix CD that I'm not certain, good luck.

  • How do I get my ipod to play a playlist from reverse order? (Start with recently added song instead of first added)

How do I get my ipod to play a playlist from reverse order? (Start with recently added song instead of first added)
So I'm adding new songs to a very old playlist? Is there anyway that when I add them, they automatically go to top of playlist? How about getting one song to the top of a playlist.  That drag to arrange function is very annoying because it is slow and the playlist does not scroll up very well on a PC.

Make a new playlist by pressing the little plus button at the very lower left corner of iTunes. An new playlist will appear in the Source pane called "untitled playlist". While the name is highlighted, you can change it to whatever you want. Drag all of the tracks from all the albums that comprise a single book to that playlist. Sync that playlist to your iPod.

I have an iPod 5thGen 30 GB. My tracks on my playlists are rarely in the correct order on the iPod, tho the order is correct when viewed on iTunes. Is there anything I can do?

It goes by the Track # field, as seen in on a list in iTunes.  So, make sure the Track # field is correctly entered for each song when you review the album on a list in iTunes.  Also, make sure the Album field is entered identically for all the songs on the album.
You can edit those fields by doing a Get Info on a song, and going to the Info windows's Info tab,

  • Images in roll are in reverse frame order

Greetings from a Mac and iPhoto newbie,
I just had 7 rolls worth of 35mm film negs scanned to (7) CDs by the local drugstore and I loaded the photos onto iPhoto. No problem there, but I then realized that the lab had scanned my photos in reverse order (ie. frame #1 is now 24, frame 2 is 23, etc.)
So now my photos appear as an iPhoto "roll" backwards from how they were shot in the camera. I suppose I could manually change the time on each and every photo to force it to whatever order I want, but that would be a bit of work to do.
My question: Is there an easy way to reverse the photo order on each of the rolls?
    thanks for any assistance!

The files will be sorted by the capture date or, in the case of scanned files, the scanned or modified date of the file. This will reverse when you change the ascending to descending. If the files were scanned you need to check the which date of the actual file that is being used. PhotoInfo can open a folder of files and display and change the capture date. Try it to see if there is a capture date and what is the order of the dates.
If it's the captured or modified date that's being used the only application that can change those is Mira. The downside to it is that all files in a folder are batched changed to the same date and time (if you select the time option). There's no option to add a delta time between each subsequent file.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
