Certain site displays top half of screen on FireFox but all on Explorer 8

I have several thousand photos in several folders. I have noticed that whenever I want to change the folder used as the side show source, it takes the Screen Saver Preference pane a very long time to respond. It is as if it is scanning all the photos in the currently assigned folder in order to display them in the preview window provided, and it gets so dogged down doing that it can't respond to my clicks on the Choose Folder option.
Assuming you don't want to redistribute your photos into a greater number of folders or subfolders so there would be fewer in each folder to process, you could try a workaround. Try moving your currently-assigned folder to your desktop temporarily, before opening the Screen Saver preference pane. If the preference pane can't find the old folder, it may immediately ask you to choose a new one. You could hopefully then do so, close the preference pane, and then put back the old folder.
It's my understanding that there will be no future updates to Tiger, only security fixes.

How can I OPEN files I just downloaded? They're on the DOWNLOADS screen of Firefox but I can't open them even after double-clicking? And they're not on the FOLDERS as well. I tried RIGHT-CLICK and the "open dowloading folder" or something does not work! P

After screen replacement, top half of screen starts by looking normal but then fades to black while bottom half stays bright but with images blury. What might went wrong?

A friend recently gave me their old Macbook pro 15 because they broke the screen and the Apple store quoted them $500-600 to fix it. I looked online and bought a screen of ebay for $170 in hopes of fixing it myself. After getting the screen I hooked it up using the steps I found online. Sadly when I turned it on, the top half of the screen was working apparently normally, but then it faded to black. The bottom half stayed bright with color the whole time but the images were always blurred. When I close the screen with it on, then open it after turning the computer on, the top half lights up with my desktop images as if it is working fine but then fades to black. The bottom is still blurred the whole time. What all could be wrong? Display cable, Inverter cable, not registering the screen or something, the screen is bad? I don't now a ton about all this and I have learned most of what I know from online research. I am not sure if I should send the screen back or if there is another issue. I just want to fix this thing.

Unfortunately, you don't even know the lower half of the computer is working properly, because you didn't have it until after it had been abused. So forget the attached screen for the moment. Connect an external monitor to it, fire it up, and see whether you can get a usable image on the external screen. If you can, send the defective "new" screen back for a refund, or replace the LVDS video cable first to make sure that's not where the problem lies, and if it isn't, then resort to sending the screen back. If you can't get a good image on the external, give the junk machine back to your friend and walk away.

Top half or screen not working

Recently the top half of my iPhone's screen quit working. The bottom half works fine, but everything on the top half won't work. I've tried resetting it but to no avail.
Any ideas? Need help!

The screen is mist likely defective. It's been happening to some. Just contact Apple and they should replace the phone for you.

I somehow got pumpkins at the top of the screen on Firefox - can't figure out how to change them to something else. Help!

Across the top very top of the screen I somehow loaded a seasonal picture of pumpkins. I can not find where I got them from and can't figure out how to change it to another picture.

My bulleted list displays correctly in IE 8 and Firefox, but not in IE 7

I have a simple bulleted list in a right floated sidebar for a website. If views fine in IE 8 and Firefox, but not in IE 7 (and perhaps earlier, though I only have access to machines with IE 7 and 8.
Because the default indent for the bulleted list moves it too far to the right, I set a negative margin for that area of text in order to move it to the left a little. While it looks great in IE 8 and Firefox, it appears this margin setting is causing the bulleted list to shift too far to the left in at least IE 7. The rest of the copy in the sidebar div lookes fine including the title and paragraph copy.
Can anyone suggest a fix?
Also, I noticed the spacing above the main content div is smaller in IE 7 than with the IE 8 and Firefox. This div has a h1 heading followed by paragraphs. (This site was developed using a pre-existing CSS style sheet from Dreamweaver by the way.)

A div in a site am developing is not showing in firefox but shows on all the other browsers (chrome, safari, opera and explorer), can anyone help?

i am developing a site and i used divs in making the arrangements.
all other divs on the page shows but on particular one does not show.
i gave all the divs a border with a red color, all the other browsers(explorer, opera, chrome and safari ) shows the divs with the colors but firefox does not even show the red color

Can you post a test case demonstrating the problem? It doesn't need to contain confidential content or active links. (This forum doesn't handle raw HTML very well, so I don't recommend pasting code here unless you convert your angle brackets to HTML entities.)

Certain sites display fractions font...?

Does anyone else have this probelm? For example - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page almost all text is unreadable and displays in this fractions looking font... it is so bizzare. The page display fine in firefox.

The standard advice given in with this display problem is to get rid of the Helvetica Fractions and Times Phonetic Fonts, if you have them.

But the little home page icon is on the far right, and (I hope) the awesome bar is working properly. This happened after a Windows Service Pack update, I think, although no one at HP tech support has an answer for me. Everything worked fine for a week, then the update, then the hybrid change. I would like to add:
you have incompatible software: start in SafeMode, read Woodmeister and see if it is free of issues.
Akamai is crap software needed or not, Huawei the same.
It is very possible that the keygenerator you used for generating a key for some softwares has infected your mac.
The non-regular software with the false key(s) are not compatible probably or generate malware. Luckily you can not update them automatically because the keygenerator blocked the software for contacting the developer... I propose to consider getting rid of those softwares by really good uninstalling.
You have a beautiful mac, don't degenerate it with crapped software. There are alternatives for expensive software, for example Adobe Photoshop has a free alternative (with a less beautiful interface) in GIMP. And so on.

Try holding down the power button on the top with the home button in (round one) wait about 10-15 seconds to see if the apple logo comes up>if it does let go if it doesnt >open iTunes on computer plug iPod in & se if iTunes see's it. If it does restore AS NEW> if it doesnt try remove iPod from computer but leave cable connected to computer hold down round button & connect again Keep round button held down wait about 15 seconds & see if you see the iTunes symbol on iPod with usb cord>if you do keep the round button held down & wait for iTunes on computer to give you message to restore>restore ...If symbol does not show up & you are not able to restore device will need to be replaced

Trying to load 4Loot. I get an arrow pointing to the bar at the top of the screen...but there's nothing there to click on, like with Google Chrome.

I had to remove 4Loot because of an issue. When I try to reload it now I can't. The program points to the bar at the top of the browser, but unlike Google Chrome where there's a tier of three bars to click on and load 4Loot search engine...there's nothing on Firefox. Need help.

A Google search indicates that 4Loot is questionable software, so you may want to reconsider reinstalling it.

How do you block certain site (ex: Facebook) from being used when Firefox is your browser? We have some employees constantly checking Facebook and my employer asked me to block it. Haven't seen the answer yet? Do I look here or in my e-mail?

But that is going to accessible to the user, so you're better off blocking specific websites on your intranet server if you're using a Local Area Network.

Firefox has a setting for what to do with PDFs. The options include displaying it in a Firefox tab using a built-in viewer or the Adobe PDF viewer, or opening it using an external application such as Adobe Reader, or just saving the file. The settings file that stores those choices sometimes becomes corrupted. In that case, the standard medicine is to remove the file and have Firefox generate a new one with default settings. If you find that Firefox ignores your selections in Options, then here is how you would do that:

* (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
