Certain songs stuck at 0:00

hi, i have a 5th gen ipod.
and the problem is the songs on my ipod usually play normal, but sometimes certain songs stuck at the beginning. and if i make any actions on the ipod, it freezes. e.g if i want to rewind/forward or select other song it freezes, but if i press play it pauses, pressed again the play sign shows but it does not actually play.
i tried it 3 and more times again with a playlist and it seems it is always the same songs on which the problem occurs. but if i select these songs seperately they play normal.
and also if i let these songs play and i wait the amount of time of the song, means e.g. 3 or 4 minutes, it play normally on. sounds so wierd!!!
and i tried it on another ipod 5.5 gen, and the problem still occurs with the same playlists, same songs. so its does not seem to be a hardware error.
can someone explains this!? its really annoying when you have a playlist with good songs, certainly the song stops, you wait, and suddenly it plays...

Have you tried to simply re-sync everything?

  • 6gen nano doesn't like certain songs

There seems to be a problem with certain songs on my dad's 6gen nano.
It plays with no problem but on certain songs it will play for about a minute, makes a "bubbling" noise then skips to another song.
Can anyone help - what am I missing??
    Thanks

OK, this reply was nice. It helps with one question. Also, I have discovered that the Nano does not register songs/podcasts as "played" unless it is syncing songs or podcasts. I now have Podcasts set to sync the latest episode and this eliminates the blue "unplayed" ball when I reconnect the Nano.
Now, how do I fill the rest of the space with music? I tried "Manually Manage Music" and this way I can fill the rest of the space with some of my music. But I'm stuck with figuring out how to Randomize the fill. I put the songs in alhpabetical order by title and then stick in the first 200, then the second 200 after a few days and so on. Not very satisfying.
I tried to sync the music by checking the box but it won't select any music on it's own. Just tells me that there is no more space on the iPod and I believe it just starts at the top of my playlist and works it's way down, always the same songs. I know how dumb I am for not being able to figure this out but, again, an Autofill button would be the cat's meow for my situation. I used to Autofill my Shuffle and then delete as many songs as necessary to fit the podcasts I needed for any given day, the exact opposite of what I'm doing now and much more satisfying. Does anybody have a cool way of doing something similar?
    TIA, Rick

  • How do I add certain songs and playlists to my iPhone but not others?

    Hi all,
I recently installed iTunes 11.0 onto my MacBook Pro, and I yearn for the days of far simpler content management.  All I want to do is add certain songs and playlists from my computer onto my iPhone without re-syncing the entire thing (every time I do, sound files that I created for work find their way onto my phone, and I have to re-delete them every time).  But I can't figure out how to simply add ONE song or ONE playlist to what is already there.  In the previous version, it was so simple--just point, click, and drag.  Now I can't figure it out and I feel like an idiot.  Can anyone show me how to do such an absurdly simple thing?
    Thanks,
    Neil

When you sync your phone with your laptop (or other device that has the songs you want), go into your music preferences and choose "Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres." This should allow you to select the three songs you want from your library. Make sure to click or tap on "apply" or else the changes will not be saved. Let the phone completely sync and those three songs should be in your phone's music library.
    Hope this helps!

  • Certain songs won't transfer to iPod

Ok, this is bugging the crap outta me.
A few days ago, my iPod Classic kinda went on the fritz. For some reason, the sound became all distorted. So I tried restoring it. That didn't fix the problem. In fact, it made things worse, because after I restored it, it wouldn't update properly. Certain songs wouldn't go, and a message would pop up that said "Attempting to copy to the disk failed. The disk could not be read from or written to." I assumed there was something wrong with my iPod, because there had already been something wrong with it. Which there was, and now it's like dead completely.
Anyway, that's not the extremely troubling part, because I had to get that iPod fixed anyway.
The really troubling part is that my dad gave me his old 4GB iPod Nano (3rd generation) to use because he just bought a new iPod Classic. So I try to put my music on this one, and guess what... same thing happens. I erase and restore it, and when I try to put my music on it, there's certain songs that won't go, and that message pops up. No matter how many times I try to put it on, it's just those certain songs that won't go. And I cannot find ANY connection between the songs that lets me know what the problem is. The files are connected just fine, the songs seem completely random... I can't find any common thing between them... bitrate, encoding, length... nothing. And there's nothing distinguishing most of them from the songs that transfer just fine. They're all MP3s. They all play just fine in iTunes, but won't transfer to the iPod.
I'm getting the feeling there's some kind of bug with iTunes 8, because that's the only thing I can think of that changed recently that might be causing this.
Anybody have any answers? I'm desperate.

I've been having the same problem recently- after we downloaded Itunes 8, around the same time we got the new Leopard software, most songs won't sync to my Ipod 3rd gen. And, of course, most of those songs are my favorites.
Have you gotten the answer to this??

  • Certain songs won't download

I'm new to this and currently trying to download songs I have in Itunes - on certain songs it gives me a message stating "Some of the songs in Itunes music library, including (song I'm trying to download), were not copied to the Ipod...because they cannot be played on this Ipod." Of course, these are the songs I want most of all - what is this about?

  • My iPod wont allow me to download certain songs and apps, why not?

I have tried to download certain songs and apps on my iPod touch, but for some reason where it say 'install' the button can't be pressed, I can download other apps and songs but its just songs and apps here and there. For songs as well, I can have them on my iTunes but not on the iPod, I don't understand!

Is the "Restrictions" feature enabled? You can prevent downloading explicit songs and apps with that feature. Check that and then try again.

  • ITunes 11.0.4.4 crashes when I play certain songs and the problem is spreading.

Ever since I downloaded iTunes 11.0.4.4 (for windows 7), the program has been crashing whenever I play certain songs and at this point the problem is spreading, more and more songs that weren't problems before. I have been through just about every troubleshooting step I could find more than once, reinstalling, safe mode, conflicting programs... if a solution out there was even vaguely related to my problem, I've probably tried it. The only modification that I've made to the program is enabling 1/2 star ratings, and I don't think that's the problem because the earlier versions of itunes worked fine with it, and I've tried temporarily moving the itunes preferences xml to make it generate a new one, and it didn't fix anything.
My library has over 14,200 tracks so I can't possibly delete and then re-add all the problem tracks to iTunes, and even if I could, I've tried doing that with a small number of specific songs already, and while it worked at first some of them have started making iTunes crash again at this point.
I understand that the problem is most likely that my library is corrupted, but I'm very wary of the solutions to that problem that I have seen because I have had to use them before more than once, and each of those times I've lost thousands of songs (last time it was 5,000 tracks) in the process and a shockingly large percentage of the tracks came back disorganized and improperly labeled (some of them as 4 letter strings of capital letters that I can't seem to identify without using shazam) and without ratings ( I have "keep iTunes files organized" and "copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library" in preferences checked.)
It takes a huge amount of time to redo the information for the amount of tracks I have even if you buy software to help automate it, and it would take me 5.7 days to redo all of the ratings I've done, and ratings are important to me. I've added a lot of new tracks since then and my library is still 2,000 tracks smaller than it was before i had problems last time. The solution scares me enough that I've put it with the crashing for two months now, but it's getting unmanageable. If anyone can give me a way to fix this that would leave my library intact, or at least minimize the damage, I would be extremely grateful.
    Thanks.

I found this and it worked!!!

I had this exact same problem.  I found a fix on another support post that worked perfectly for me.  Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.  Then browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you.  My iTunes store is working fine now.

  • How do I fix this?! Certain songs on my 6th gen nano will no longer play AT ALL, but they used to.

6th Gen iPod Nano will not play certain songs; it just skips over them to a song that WILL play. These are all songs that PREVIOUSLY played without any issue. They still play fine in iTunes on my computer. All mp3 format. Tried restoring several times. I've looked around online and have found that I'm not the only one experiencing this issue; however, I have yet to find any solution to the problem. Help!

Try running these songs through MP3 Validator to see if there any issues.

  • IPhone would not let me delete individual song from library, tried deleting album to remove music from local storage, now certain songs from album do not show in iTunes match on iPhone only on computer

Upon completion of matching and uploading my very large library of music (+15,000), I wanted to see how iTunes Match worked on my iPhone. I started it and selected the first album in the list to listen to. I let it play the entire album and then decided that I wanted to remove certain songs off of the iPhone's local storage. Tried to delete the individual songs and it would not let me. So I figured that I would go back and just delete the album. After selecting delete I went back to listen to one of the songs on the album and realized that it deleted several of the songs from the iTunes Match completely. When pulling iTunes up on my computer the songs are still there but does not give me the option to upload to iTunes Match.
I have tried turning off Match on iPhone and back on (doesn't seem to do anything cause when turned off the iPhone still displays the music.)
Then tried power cycling. (Still shows the music)
Then I tried power cycling again and resyncing the phone and the iPhone still shows the music as it was on the phone.
How do I get the music to be accessable on the iPhone again.. I have been messing with this for the course of 3 hours now.. and any help would be appreciated!!
    iPhone 3GS 8GB

Actually Michael I know exactly how to delete.. The iPhone would not let me swipe to the left to delete the individual song, so I went to the album view and did it there.. The issue I am having is a bug because it removed 3/4 of the albums availablity off my iPhone.. You post proved no help because it is basic troubleshooting which, if you read my post, I have already done.. I did however figure out how to fix my issue on my own.. Basically I had to remove the album from my iTunes on my computer and upload it again to iTunes Match..

  • IPod won't play certain songs

    Hi,
I old iPod died during a firmware upgrade and I went out and bought a fifth gen video iPod. I thought it was great but it is having problems.
    1) When playing through playlists it comes to certain songs that it just won't play. The clock says 0:00 and doesn't advance. One can simply skip the song by moving forwards or backwards or going back to the menu. The songs play just fine in iTunes. However more and more songs are now not playing on the iPod.
They are not purchased from iTunes but are loaded from CD. So this is not the same problem previously reported. I have started loading songs back from the CDs but I do not want to go through this again a thousand times.
    2) If I listen to songs on the iPod (the ones that work) and assign ratings, the ratings are not transferred back to the iTunes library. Neither does the play count get update. I do not have it set on manual sync.
I have tried everything in the articles I have found. No luck. I still think the last software for the iPod is a bit flaky...
    Grateful for any ideas.

I have almost the same exact problem. The songs play fine on my computer (on iTunes) but some will be skipped on the actual iPod. When I attach my iPod and look at its library, the songs don't appear "ghosted" out but some have the little next to them.

  • My iPod freezes when I play certain songs

    Hello,
I`ve had this problem for some time now. When I try to play certain songs on my (G1) iPod, it just freezes, and I have to reset it to make it work again. The strange thing is that this problem only occures with some of the songs, not all, and it´s the same songs every time that causes this problem.
I´ve tried full resets several times, updating the software on the iPod, and tried using both a PC and a Mac to transfer songs, with different iTunes versions, but the problem endures...
What´s even more "strange" is that even though I now use a Mac, and have imported all my songs all over again to this machine, almost the same songs that caused trouble before I changed computers are still causing trouble!
This tells me (even though I´m not a techie) that there is a HD problem on my iPod...
Does anyone have any ideas about this?

  • ITunes will not copy certain songs to my iPhone - I'm "not authorized for it on this computer"

Hi.  I get an error when I try to transfer certain songs from my computer to my iPhone.  I get the following error, "(song name) was not copied to iPhone "____" because you are not authorized for it on this computer." For the particular songs for which this error comes up, I purchased them many years ago.  I had them on my PC and transferred them to my iPhone just fine.  I recently got rid of the PC and bought a Mac Mini (yay!) and copied my files over to the new computer. Then, I connected my iPhone to the Mini and synced it.  Then, I noticed that there were some songs on my phone that I didn't want on it so I unchecked them in the Library on the Mini and chose the "sync only checked songs" option and synced again.  Nothing changed.  So, then I did an Autofill thinking that would make the selected songs on my Mini and matched the songs I wanted on my iPhone.  That's when I noticed the songs missing on my iPhone (songs that I had selected on my Mini and wanted on the iPhone).  I've never really been able to figure out how to work iTunes so I'm sure I've done something wrong.  I can't decifer the error message so your help would be greatly appreciated.  (I've authorized the Mini.)
Any ideas what the problem might be?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi there!
I've a very similar & the same problem but for me this has been happening ever since iTunes 7.1.5, so not exclusively since 7.2 was launched
In addition to the same problem you're having, iTunes will not sync any of my converted DVD movies and several video podcasts giving me the same error message you mentioned. If it try to play these video's out side of iTunes with QuickTime, I get 'Error -36: An I/O Error' warning and thats it, but I can play with any other media player including the dreaded Windows Media Player! If I copy these files on to a separate HHD, Flash Stick or on to another PC (i.e. so they’re played from not in the iTunes folder in my documents) they all work fine and oddly also with QuickTime, so I'm happy the files are not corrupt. I'm afraid to attempt to play any remaining video's that I managed to sync sometime before this problem in iTunes because when I do, its then that I can never use it again and it gets removed from my iPod!
I can't find anything on this problem anywhere, and I don't know where to go to get help from Apple not that I’m sure they’d be too helpful?
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Regards
    Jaime

  • "Disk cannot be read from or written to" When syncing CERTAIN songs to iPod

So I bought my friend's iPod Touch. I've talked to her about this issue and she's never experienced anything of the sort. When I got her iPod Touch I downloaded the newest software (3.1.2).
It's still currently running on 3.1.2 (as I know of no way to set it back to a previous version). When I try to update the iPod it will sync fine until reaching certain songs. These songs will freeze iTunes entirely for a few moments, an error message will pop up saying "Disk cannot be read from or written to". The only way I could go around this predicament was to go through my library and un-check the songs which caused the iPod sync to fail. This is quite annoying having to have several songs un-checked as some of them are the songs I want to listen to.
What can I do to fix this? I've reset and restored everything. Multiple times. Yet to no avail.
The error occurs only with songs, I have not run in to any errors updating applications (yet).
I'm running Mac OS X Snow Leopard, the iPod Touch is running 3.1.2 (the newest update), the iPod was originally purchased back in July.

I suggest you read through the following article for some help: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1207
Normally, if you have a DRM'd song that you do not own, you will get an error (not this one, however) that the song will not/cannot be copied to your iPod. My feeling is that you might have some corrupted files.
