Certain texts of a document vanished and is untraceable, ie no earlier versions available despite haviing autosave enabled?

I created a basic plan for my dissertation which was sent to my lecturer who added comments as is possible.
this was back in October, I have made over 3000 words of notes and research to this since then all of which was sub bullet points and in red ink including references and hyperlinks. The last time I used it would of been this time last week and it saved
etc perfectly well no problems.
On opening the document 2 days ago it has all vanished?! All my additions are gone and only the original bare document with my lecturers notes remain? This seems impossible to me, as in order for me to do this myself I would have had to have
copied and deleted multiple times so as to not remove these remaining "headings"?
I have made multiple changes to this document over a 6 month period and nothing like this has ever happened before on this document or any other.
I have SkyDrive so thought I would have a backup of this on there since I am 100% sure I was ultra careful to do so? This seems very unusual to me that a document would be so selective in loosing text? Is there anything I can do, is the text
in some way recoverable or hidden or is it gone for good and if so how did this happen?

It's possible you've been using Track Changes and have switched from one of the markup views to the 'Original' view. See the dropdown under Review>Tracking. If it shows 'Final' or 'Original' switch to 'Original: Show Markup'. Another possibility is that
your additions have been formatted as hidden text, in which case click on the ¶ symbol on the Ribbon's Home tab.

That Preference does not exist in Pages 5.5.2, you have to use Pages '09.
To get rid of Pages 5.5.2 just drag it from your Applications to your trash, but be warned that any documents you created in Pages 5.5.2 will first need to be Exported back to Pages '09 format to0 be opened in Pages '09.

That was probably caused by your Firewall blocking the newly installed version of Firefox.
No known security issues with Firefox 3.6.17, which was just released this past week.

How to embedd video using adobe 9 pro, and making it compatible to earlier versions?

Many companies lag in updating the latest version of adobe reader for their field employees. I am dealing with a company now that has field computer with version Adobe reader 6.
Using adobe 9.3 Professional.
How can I embed a video (video format - mpeg, wmp, mov, etccc) into the document and be able to run this adobe file in reader 6 or above and it be able to run.
I would like to send the file with the video embedded directly into the file, and would we fine with adobe popping a new window to play the video using Windows media player.
The problem that I am seeing is there seems to be a path that gets defined when you embed a video file.
The idea here is to create a portable file that can go out to the field, with this defined path from the orginating computer seems to be assigned to the file and thus crashing the abilty to run the video, when place on other computers.

Speaking in general terms the user interface for the Acrobat Family was defined back in version X after a lot of consultation with the target customer groups (enterprise knowledge workers), so it's not surprising that Adobe have stuck with it ever since. I can NOT take the continual freeze ups of my entire browser even worse when updating a page let alone just opening email. I closed the browser and have had to use even just microsoft or Google since this Firefox has gotten so horrible...

First, that cannot be an iBook G4 as that machine cannot run Snow Leopard let alone Mountain Lion. To run Snow Leopard it has to be an Intel processor, not a G4. What does it show as the Model Identifier in About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Model Identifier?
Second, if you have erased the hard drive there should not be remnants of any prior content. Even though Disk Warrior is saying nothing is wrong with the hard drive, it sounds as though there are problems. You may want to consider simply replacing the hard drive so there are no questions about faults. A good source is OWC, http://www.macsales.com where they also have on-line videos showing how to do the replacement.
Third, you could also try again to restart using the Snow Leopard DVD/CD and use Disk Utility on that install disk to erase again, and do it a couple times, then try to install. If it continues to refuse, then it sounds as though there is a fault with the hard drive.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

I don't like some features in the new iTunes and my favorite visualizer doesn't work with it . I threw everything to do with iTunes away and tried to install an earlier version but the installer kept giving us this error page telling us to quit iTunes !

The installer is crazy . It keeps thinking that iTunes is running even though we dumped everything we could find ( preferences , application , libraries ) . Did I miss something ? Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine.

Airport stopped working, so I tried to reinstall the OS and applications, but because it's all earlier versions, I can't use Word, iWork, or anything else. Since I didn't erase the versions I got with my (secondhand) macbook, can I uninstall and go back?

I bought the macbook with other stuff installed, but was only given the original discs. I hadn't realised that the OS and pretty much everything else had been upgraded from what was on the discs, and now I can't work on any of my documents. I have also bought software based on the operating system installed when I bought it, and now some of it is no longer usable, either.
It's bad enough I have to borrow my roommate's computer to get internet for job hunting and important communications, since Airport just stopped working (not sure what's up with that, but I hardly care now, in light of everything else), but now I need it to even write out lesson plans for my volunteer teaching or do my own writing. If I had a job, I'd have gone to an Apple certified place a long time ago to try fixing the Airport. Since I couldn't afford it, I thought I'd try reinstalling everything. I don't know much about where everythign is, so I figured maybe that would reinstall Airport, too. .
The sucky thing is, I had planned to buy more recent versions of any of the extra programs that I use once I had the money. just not quite yet.
I didn't use the 'delete and install option,' yet the earlier versions seem to have taken over and overwritten things. For instance, now some programs say parts are missing, or are just trial versions.
Lesson learned: Leave things well enough alone until you can afford the experts. Obviously there are some things I can't fix for myself.

Hi!! To add more to the issue, the other day, my airport card is nowhere to be found. It now says no airport card installed which is really crazy. I also noticed that my MBP freezes during start up and I had to zap the PRAM so it would open up. Anyone there who experienced the same thing? I'd really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!

I updated Numbers, but now when I try to open a Numbers document, it tells me I need a newer version available at the app store. The app store tells me I am up to date. What do I do now?

Be sure you're opening the document with the version of Numbers that is in your main Applications folder. (The old version is still on your Mac, in a subfolder named iWork '09, and any icon you had on your Dock still points to that old version).
