Certain videos playing incorrectly

Hi, I'm currently running XP and the latest version of Flash. Just recently I've begun to have these problems with some videos or streams that I try to watch. This happens in both Firefox and Google Chrome, but videos play fine on IE. I've already tried uninstalling the Flash version and re-installing, but it didn't fix the problem.
Here are 2 images that show what it looks like, and the CPU usage since I noticed the messed up video had a much higher CPU usage.
I took them both from Ustream to demonstrate that even the same site gives me a working and a non-working video. These problems have been occuring on videos from youtube, ustream, livestream, and some others I'm sure. Any help on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

When using Firefox certain videos play but the image is green and distorted. The image turns into lines and sometimes it half of the screen of the video. Examples are streaming MLB.tv video and some vimeo videos. The odd thing is that it isn’t all Vimeo videos. Is this a flash issue?
The issue does not happen with Internet Explorer which leads me to believe this is an issue with Firefox. I downgraded to 3.5 and the issue still persists.

IOS4.0 Stops Certain Videos Playing

OK so my 3G would play all the music videos I had on it with 3.1.3 but when I've upgraded to 4.0 I find some that iTunes 9.2.1 wont sync as it says they're the wrong format even though previous versions of iTunes were fine and they played on the 3G. I also find that some of the videos that iTunes 9.2.1 will sync, don't actually play any more on the 3G - I get an 'unsupported format' error when clicking on them.
So it looks like Apple tightened up the checking in 9.2.1 but didn't get it right matching that with 4.0.1, and neither of them is correct in terms of matching the hardware.
I'm now left with videos that used to play but don't any more. I'm putting in a bug report directly to Apple, but I'm left very disappointed with the way Apple has handled the 4.0 upgrade.
Anyone else having these sort of problems?

I'm also getting this. Try to play a music video after the 4.0 upgrade on my 3G iPhone and all I get is a message saying that the file format is not supported. It was before, so why not now. I bought the videos off of iTunes so they should support them. I'm also getting a problem when playing music. I select a song but the iPod dismisses my selection and plays something completely different.

I can't play certain videos from the internet on my macbook.
When using Sarfari or Google Chome, I am unable to play some videos on the internet. News clips, posted videos on blogs, and tv episodes from their own network websites. Youtube videos are fine. I doesn't make sense.
I tried downloading an update for quicktime, but the computer claims that quicktime is up to date. Yet, the videos and tv episodes don't play.
I have checked for the most recent software updates, and everything is up to date. Nothing is wrong with the hardware either.
Any suggestions would be awesome! Thank you!

In addition to Flash, you might need some other plugins. Microsoft videos are mostly in Silverlight, and you'll want Flip4Mac to play WMVs. Perian contains codecs for pretty much every video online.

I contacted a tech spec who said it was possibly a format problem. How do i fix this?

This might sound weird, but here's an idea which worked for me re music that was newly added to itunes and showed up in my ipod but wouldn't play - I simply played the tracks in itunes first, just a second of time or so will do it, not the whole track, then connect the ipod and sync again and this time they played - hope this helps.

Certain Video files do not play in Photoshop Elements 13

I have a problem whereby certain Video files do not play in Photoshop Elements 13 Organizer. The pattern seems to be they are .MOV files. But some files of the same type do play okay? So wondering why some are okay and others not?
I have installed a trial version of Premiere Elements 13 and ALL files play fine there. I understand Premiere installs all relevant CODECS to support all video formats, so why does Elements Organizer not make use of those CODECS?

Why does Quicktime tell me it can't play certain videos created with my Phantom 2 v3 drone ? I fly the drone and switch back and forth from video to still pics and while I may have filmed four videos , sometimes Quicktime tells me that one of them can't be played . Checking the info shows that each of the unplayed videos was saved in the same mp4 format as the playable ones yet some of my most important videos won't play . It's getting very frustrating .

first; I use Perian, that helps even though it is no longer supported, (must have for avi files)
the apple-cores at apple have gotten very sloppy -- quicktime is a bit finicky and flakey.
example,   occasionally (when copy file from quad's card to hard drive) the avi will show up as a 'mov' file and qt plays it no problem and no conversion.
but that is very occasionally, most of the time qt won't convert the file,   -- iMovie won't open an avi without Perian installed , I don't know how that effects qt.
qt 7"pro" is no good either, (qt 10 does everything it does and for NOT the extra $35)
I have gone to VLC and MPlayerX for direct playback for drones and cameras.

I have FF "4.4.10" but when browsing some websites it will not play the video, instead displays messages: 'Plugins are req'd to display media on this page',
'FLASH OR HTML5 browser req for video playback' !!!! yet they play perfectly in Chrome no messing.
This happens on both a WinXP (FF v16) and a Win7 laptop.

I read FLASH is highly discredited, so dont want to install it.
I thought FF was supposed to play HTLM5 videos 'out of the box' without need of 'Addons' ?

Google Chrome comes with its own version of the Flash plugin.<br />
Firefox needs its own Flash plugin, so make sure that the Flash plugin for Firefox is installed.
Do you have the Flash plugin installed and does the test site confirm that the plugin works?

My imac wont play certain videos

For some reason unknown to me, i cannot play certain video file on my imac. They files were copied into the computer looking like this..

Download the free program "VLC" and right click the videos. Go to 'Open With >' and choose VLC player.

Video play: having problems with certain files.

I am unable to play certain videos on my Macbook.
I have installed flip4mac, and it shows as a plugin on Safari.
I have installed WMV 9.
I have installed JAVA.
I have all current OSX and Quicktime updates installed.
An example of a video that I want to play, from tv station KWTX.COM, looks like this:

I believe this forum is appropriate for your question.
Your symptoms sound like an issue with negotiation of segment size and fragmentation. Path MTU Discovery is generally used in setting up a TCP connection to discover the largest frame that can be sent without requiring fragmentation. However there are things that can prevent PMTUD from working properly. Most especially there are some networks that block the ICMP response of Fragmentation Required but DF Set. So the end stations do not find the optimum frame size. If the end station sends a maximum frame size (as most would) and somewhere along the path the frame needs fragmentation, then the packet will be dropped.
Your symptoms sound like in trying to go to those sites you open the TCP connection, the first several frames are relatively small and succeed, so you see the initial message from the site, but then are sending large frames which get dropped.
One way around this is to configure ip tcp adjust-mss and set a smaller size. I have encountered symptoms like yours, have set the size to something around 1360, and had things work very well. I suggest that you give this a try and let us know if it helps.

Hello, I kept receiving prompts to authorize this computer or I would no longer be able to view certain video's. The funny thing is my computer is the administrator or original computer. Never had a problem for years now this started happening. I would select authorize this computer and it would say this computer is already authorized. In the block to authorize this computer it always had my daughters apple id (her e-mail address) and I would remove it and insert mine. I let her use the home sharing option before, could this have anything to do with it? Now i have only 1 movie out of 5 I have purchased remaining on my Ipod. And it won't reload the others back onto my ipod. Where do i go from here? Appreciate any of you pro's out there lending me a helping hand. Thanks very much.........

You may want to double check to make sure that all of these videos were actually purchased with your Apple ID. You can view this information from under each movie's Summary tab of the Get Info window in iTunes.

Do different recorded slide resolutions cause an imported FLV Video to Play incorrectly?

I’ve been working on a project involving many captivate files with flv videos inserted into slides I made the slides in Photoshop, I had the same type of project last year with the same client and had similar problems with the flv videos just not running or not running correctly, sometimes cutting off early. This time using Captivate 4 I’m having problems with the videos playing through fine but then stopping and not continuing onto the next slide. To even further complicate this sometimes in preview the video will play and then advance to the next slide and then after publishing the files and playing them they stop advancing and you have to select the play button to continue the presentation.
The setup for these video slides:
Edit the video in avid and export to After Effects.
Process the video in AE adding titles, keying, and exporting using render cue to FLV files
Process and Import the Photoshop slide into Captivate
Set the properties of the PS slide to; on slide enter; continue, on slide exit; advance to next slide.
Import the flv video at 640x480, skin = none, auto play auto rewind, Options = rest of slide, pause slide till end of video.
What I think I found and at least it is working again is, during the recording session with the various business managers while demonstrating their applications they would sometime resize their screens, so instead of recording at 1024x768 they would stop recording and change their screen resolution to 1032x774, to complicate this even further they were all operating their software applications using remote desktops.
I finally imported the slides into Captivate that were recorded at 1032x774 and resized them to 1024x768 during import and kept my resolution the same throughout the problem was resolved and the project played fine so far. The biggest problem I had was with a slide that fell between two slie sizes even though Captivate resized the slides on import and I resized the slide for the project resolution the Video FLV movie slide would play and then stop. I hope I’m making sense with this and I apologize if I’m not.
Is a recorded constant screen resolution critical when editing a captivate presentation and if so why? Is there a way to correct a slide problem in hypertext to force a slide to advance, and if so what program would accomplish this. Thanks in advance.

Video plays and stops

When playing videos, the audio will start and after about 6 seconds they stop (video is a picture and does not play). I can move the time bar to later in the video and hit play again and it will change pictures and play audio for another 6 seconds. I can't fix it.
I have repaired quicktime 3 times. (videos play fine in quick time).
I have repaired itunes.
I have reloaded and downloaded latest itunes.
I have tried the advance options with the directx and safe options in the setup.
What else can I try.

Sometimes vids can properly encoded but their data rate is just too high for the device in question. In that case, they will likely restart or just stop playing at some point in the middle -- particularly for stuff encoded with a variable bit rate. Also, sometimes only certain types of waveform show a problem with an encoding -- that waveform might not occur until partway through a song.
Similarly, 'Convert for iPod' will in fact convert a video that is already in MP4, provided that iTunes thinks the data rate is too high. It will re-encode as an MP4 with a lower bitrate. I have verified this myself.
As for your playback issue, it seems much more wide-ranging than the problem I was originally responding to. I think it might be an unrelated issue. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for somebody whose iPod has problems playing any video. My suggestions only might apply if the iPod has an issue with a specific video, but continues to play the rest as it always had.

Web video plays on iPhone but gets error message when sent to Apple TV via AirPlay

I belong to a fee-based subscription video site. Videos play perfectly on my iMac, iPhone 4S, and iPad 1. However, when I try to play them on my Apple TV by sending them via AirPlay from my iPhone or iPad, I get the "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later." message. Videos from all other sites (YouTube, Facebook, other subscription sites) all work fine. I've tried restating, resetting, unplugging the Apple TV, cable router, and Airport Extreme. This problem affects both my Apple TV 2 and Apple TV 3. Any ideas why I'm having this trouble with video from this one site? Is there some kind of video format that works on an iPhone but not an Apple TV? Is the site perhaps purposely preventing AirPlay streaming?

Hairpants: I have the exact same problem with my iPhone, but only on certain Apple TV's. YouTube (via Safari) and TED (app) both play at home fine, but I get the "error occurred loading this content" on the ATV at work. Very frustrating.
Winston: I wouldn't think an app wouldn't "block" AirPlay, but rather wouldn't build support into the app. But I am not an app developer, so I'm just guessing. Example: the new YouTube app only support audio over AirPlay, not video. You don't get an error on your ATV, it just doesn't push the video data.

Stuttering in certain videos in iTunes for Windows 7 and Windows 8

I have stuttering in certain videos in the most recent version of iTunes in Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 8 64-bit. The two specific videos I am talking about are video podcasts...."Windows Weekly HD", and "Security Now HD". The strange thing is that I can play those videos in Windows Media Player, VLC, Zune, etc, and there is no stuttering at all. I have no issue with stuttering audio with iTunes.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? It is really annoying to have to use other software just to watch certain videos. I appreciate your time.
Also...this has happened on fresh installs of Windows 7 & 8 on the same PC. I have also tried removing and re-installing iTunes, and all of my drivers for my software are updated, and I have all the updates for Windows.
