Certificate problem--safari says it couldn't establish a secure connection.

Certificate problem. How do I fix a corrupted cert? I think what's going on is that the cert that is installed for this site is bad. But Safari just gives an error and I can't find a way to remove the bad one and add a new one? Can anyone help me?

I haven't experienced any issues like this.
What's a corrupted certificate?

The following message is appearing every time I go to log into an account via a secure link.
Safari can’t open the page because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server
    I am running Mac OS X 10.3.9
    I have Reset Safari 1.3.2
    Removed all cookies
    Emptied my Cache
Contacted my ISP and isolated it is a software issue
I used Internet Explorer and I was able to log into secure web pages. Therefore it is only Safari that doesn't allow me to log into secure pages.
Do I need to reinstall my safari application using my Mac OS X Install Disc following the instructions listed in the manual under topic "Reinstalling the software That Came With Your Computer" heading "Installing Mac OS X and Applications"
Buy reinstalling Mac OS X I hoping it might fix the issue with Safari. I am thinking it is a software/application issue.
Is there anyway I can reinstall Safari without having to reinstall anything else and without making back up file from my hard drive.
How do you go about reinstalling Safari only?

    Hi
this is likely a keychain or settings issue rather than Safari....
but here is Safari from the 10.3.9 combo update.....
You'll need to choose the 'free' option, then unzip the file & drag the Safari app to your applications folder; then repair permissions, then run the 1.3.1 updater, then the 1.3.2 updater. Phew !!
maybe someone will upload the 1.3.2 version eh? I have tiger, so can't help directly

  • Safari can't open the page because couldn't establish a secure connection

    Hi guys,
I am writing on behalf of a friend who is encountering the problem described in the post title.
He cannot even create an account with apple forums and post a question by himself.
He cannot access emails and other accounts like Facebook.
However, he can log in to stuff like "The Guardian" paper (UK newspaper).
So I used the search tool and I got him to trash preferences, trash bin and restart machine.
Repair permission, check if parental control is on. All that done to no avail.
I asked if he has recently downloaded updates, he said no. Asked if he has firewall or antivirus active, answer: no.
I am a video guy and have never experienced problems with Safari, however the specs of his machine suggest he's on an old one:
    Power PC G4
    Mac OS 10.3.9
    1Ghz CPU
    Safari 1.3.2 (312.6)
Do you guys have any idea what the problem could be?
Would you like more information to help you to help us?
I would be very grateful if you could shed some light on this issue that my friend is experiencing.
    Luca

Create a new User Account and test for this Safari problem there. If it occurs, it's a system-wide issue. What sites is he attempting to create a secure connection to, and has he ever been able to do so before this problem started?

  • SSL problem;couldn't establish a secure connection to the server, all https

I cannot log into any secure http sites using Safari. I have firefox, and everything works fine with that. I cannot use my mac mail either, as it says that there is something wrong with the server it's trying to log into.
I have OSX 10.3.9, and the latest version of Safari as well. There have been several threads posted regarding this problem and there do not seem to be any clear resolutions.
Will I have to re-install my OS, or is there a clean way of fixing this problem?
Again, Safari can't open any https pages (not even display them), while Firefox on the same computer has no problems.
    Thanks for any help!

I'm no expert, but I was having the same problem as you and tried various things to fix it as suggested in other posts on this forum - all to no avail - ..... until ..... I moved the trashed X509Anchors and X509Certificates back to /system/library/keychains folder. And now Safari works. Bizarro if you ask me.

  • My Google account won't add to iCal. Says it can't establish a secure connection.

    Hi!
I am trying to add my google calendar to iCal. I am running 10.8.2 on an iMac. I have a gmail account and a calendar associated with the account. In the past, I'd been able to have my Google Calendar sync with iCal both ways. Now, it won't let me do that. I removed the google account from iCal, and am trying to start over by adding it back in.
I clicked the + button in accounts, and chose to add a "GOOGLE" account, filling in my info.
    This is what came up:
I clicked continue, then this came up: (I added the arrows to show you.)
Can anyone help me figure out how to get my gmail to sync with iCal...preferrably both ways.
    Thanks so much in advance!

I did add Google calendar to my Mac today.. I did not understant what happened yesterday.

  • Safari establishing a secure connection

More frequently and annoyingly when I am working in Safari 1.3.2 I cannot connect to a web site because Safari "...couldn't establish a secure connection to the server...". Is this a preference item I can turn off?

    Hi,
My Safari 1.3.2 is giving me fits also. I have an Mac OS X 10.3.9, G4, 256 Ram. If I download the Camino 1.6.3, should I delete the old Safari? If so, can bookmarks be transferred?
I am on cable, but still, at times, the little rainbow wheel goes around and around before connecting. Very frustrating as I'm paying for a fast internet connection. Is there something else I can do to fix this problem? When the machine is idle for a bit and the screen is black, I move the mouse to wake it up and it takes time for it to finally get me to a working screen. What's up with that?
Thanks so much for any help you can give me. I'm not real tech savey, but can usually follow directions for some fixes. (for instance - wouldn't know how to change the cache that the previous person asked about)

  • Cannot get Safari to establish a secure connection

I cannot get Safari to open any webpage that has an https: start to their web page. I get the following message:
Safari can’t open the page “https://xxx" because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server
This started just today but I've done a few things that might have caused this. I reset my system user password and then needed keychain to reset it's password to match up with this. I cleared the chach in users and I also upgraded to Safari 1.2.
If I use another browser I do not have this problem. Any thoughts>

I've had the same problem a few times. I found that resetting the airport gets the problem fixed, providing that you grant your airport permission to access your keychain always. It can be a software reset. Connect to your airport (airport utility) and select yours (in case you get signals from other neighbors too). Then, on the toolbar click reset, and you should be on.

  • Safari "can't establish a secure connection to the server insert website "

Per the title, Safari has started saying that it cannot establish a secure connection to the server. This occurs when I try to log in to any website.
I have reset Safari, I have turned my router off and on (I am using a WiFi connection).
I upgraded (today) to the newest software, Mountain Lion.
There is another Mac in the house (not on Mountain Lion) that works fine.
I downloaded FireFox and everything works fine.
I am using a Macbook Pro.
    Fix, anyone?

  • I can no longer access facebook from my macair and when i try the following error message appears "unable to establish a secure connection to the server.

I have had no issue accessing Facebook in the past using my MacAir.  Last night each time I would try and access the page, an error message would appear, saying that unable to establish a secure connection to the server "www.facebook.com"".  The problem continues this morning.  I have not updated any software or made any changes.  One minute it was working, the next it was not.  I do not have any parental controls; I have deleted the cookies; and I have reset safari.  I can access all other websites that I have tried.  I am using Version 6.0.4.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:  Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
Now open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If nothing above helped, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, restart your internet modem and router.  Then quit and relaunch Safari and try Facebook.

  • Can't open the page ---- because can't establish a secure connection

I recently upgraded to 10.4.8 and had no apparent problems.
There may, however, have been one resulting problem in that when I try to open one of my bookmarked locations, I get a message
"Safari can’t open the page --- because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server"
I tried emptying the cache and that didn't help.
    Any thoughts ?

  • Can't establish a secure connection to the server

Safari loads ok and I can browse the internet. However, when i try to log on to 'my ebay'(and some other sites) I get the following error message:
Safari can’t open the page “https://signin.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn&Using…SAPI.dll%3FMyeBay%26MyeB ay%3D%26guest%3D1&pageType=1883” because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server “signin.ebay.co.uk”.
In the mean time I have downloaded Firefox and that is working really well.
Can anyone help repair my Safari?

I have the same issue although i kind of fixed it. I have two admin accounts and one of the account's safari did the same thing as yours, except, it was the startpage and everypage i tried to visit. I reseted safari, as in the erase all data safari in the toolbar, safari-Reset Safari... But safari still didn't work. I logged out and went to my other account and opened safari. Now it works fine on both accounts. This meant safari had to logout before actually working better. I have this a few times these days.

  • Unable to establish a secure connection

I have a Time Capsule that we use as a wireless router.   After my ISP changed out my cable modem, I now have faster Internet service, but none of my devices (Macbooks, iPads, iPhones) can access SOME secure sites.   All other activity works fine.   These sites ARE available using my mobile provider, so I know it isn't the sites.   I have used both Safari and Firefox with the same result.   The error message in Safari is that it "cannot establish a secure connection."    No settings were changed with the Time Capsule -- only a new modem was connected.    I have rebooted and run diagnostics to no avail.
    Any suggestions?

The problem has been solved.   It was a defective modem -- not the router!

  • I'm having a problem accessing Bupers Online using my CAC reader. I get an error that says safari can't establish a secure connection to the website. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am having a problem accessing Bupers Online on OS X Mountain Lion. I get an error that says Safari cant establish a secure connection with Bupers Online. Does anyone have any tips to access Bupers?

I don't use CAC certificates, but since updating to 10.9.3, I too am getting the same error, BUT only with some HTTPS sites (e.g., https://webmail.pairlite.com), not all. Meanwhile, Firefox (was 12.0, now 29.0.1) connects with no issue.
I too have verified date/time is set automatically, checked for (and fixed) disk integrity errors and permissions, and rebooted, all to no avail.
    Update:
Well...heck. Tried accessing the problematic site via the Guest account, and that WORKED. So...back to the drawing board.

  • "Safari is unable to establish a secure connection"

When I try to log in to bank or credit card accounts Safari will frequently display the above error. It resolves when I restart my computer, but only temporarily. Sometimes the error displays after I'm already logged in to an account and trying to make transfers/payments/etc.
Has anyone else had this problem and/or found a solution?

    Hello B Noir,
Thank you for your suggestion.  I did check the date, time and time zone and they are correct.  I also was able to open the iTunes Store without any trouble.  I actually had trouble getting back to this page, because I was getting the error message trying to open it, and had to reboot to reply to you.  I realize that I didn't give any detail except to say it sounded like exactly the same problem that timiteo was having.
I installed updates to Safari 5.05, and OS security updates to 10.5.8 two days ago.  Since then, Safari keeps getting hung up and/or giving me this error message:
    "Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “https://intuit.com/login/” because Safari can’t establish a secure connection to the server “intuit.com”."
This happens on numerous websites and does not happen consistently.  In other words, I just received the error message when I tried to open my gmail calendar from within gmail.  Other times, it has opened without trouble, and after rebooting, I am now able to open it again (this is adding up to a lot of rebooting today).
I then installed Google Chrome (so I could get some work done), but after a short time, it started doing the same thing with this error message:
    "SSL connection error
Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you don't have.
Error 107 (net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): SSL protocol error."
Once I get the message, then I can't do anything with the particular browser until I reboot, which solves the problem for a short while.  Actually, once I see the message in one browser, it is sure to happen in the other browser right away as well.  I had none of these problems before I installed the updates, so I'm wondering if there is some conflict in the 10.5.8 OS security updates, since it doesn't seem limited to Safari.
I'm not running any virus software on the Mac.  I do have Parallels running a virtual Windows machine on the same laptop and I have Norton Antivirus running on Windows, but I don't even have Windows started up.  I used to have Norton Antivirus running on the Mac "side" - but I uninstalled that months ago, because it was bogging everything down.
I appreciate any ideas you may have.
    Susan

  • "iTunes couldn't connect to this iPad. Can't establish a secure connection to the device."

    Hello anyone this might concern,
I'm having a  problem with my week-old iPad 3 WiFi + 4G (although not 4G in Sweden, but anyway). When I yesterday (19th of June 2012) tried to hook my iPad to my mid 2011 iMac 27" wanting to synchronize it, I got a warning message that I've never seen before and not being known on the interwebs when searching for it.
Translated from Swedish it says: "iTunes couldn't connect to this iPad. Can't establish a secure connection with the device". No error code or anything. Just a window saying this and an OK button. Wierd I thought, tried to search for it and got hits that were similar but not in my opinion the same problem at all. Some people had problems a couple of years ago giving the similar error message, that had to do with the date and time not being the same on the iDevice as the computer hooking it up to. I checked my settings but everything checks out all right.
After a couple of tries of restarting both the iPad and the iMac, reinstalling iTunes etc etc I tried to connect my iPhone 4S. That went just fine, without a hitch. I was able to synchronize it, do whatever. So I took out my MBA 13" late 2010, connected the iPad to it and started iTunes - voilá it worked just fine! But still, the issue remains on the iMac today. I can't for the love of Steve understand what the problem is.
So, anyone out there sitting on an awesome fix?
    Thanks,
    Jacob

    OK!
So I myself had this issue and have solved the issue.  Let me recap:
    1: Purchased a 13" Mac Book Pro
2:Already owned an Ipad that was syned with the PC I was previously using
3: When I connected my Ipad to the brand new Mac and opened Itunes was told (paraphrase) "Itunes can not connect to your Ipad...can not find secure connection
4: Called a multitude of Apple customer service folks who were really nice but couldn't help
              1) I tried different ports
              2) various apple connectors were used (not technical word but you know the cord that you use to connect your iPad to your cable with the usb)
              3) and on and on.....and no the date and time thing mentioned on many forums didn't work
              4) was able to sync photos through iPhoto with no issues
    So what solved it:
    1) Back up your iPad to iCloud (make sure it fully completes)
    2) Go to General~Reset~Erase All Content and Settings
    3) When iPad restores it will eventually get to a promp "restore from iCloud" say yes
    4) At this point you are home sweet home...connect to itunes and Walla!
I also discovered how to sync Google calendars (if you have multiple like me) and google contacts to address.  Holler at me if you need those too...don't waste your entire day like me. Peace Out!!
