Certification in Captivate 7?

Does Adobe offer certification in Captivate 7? If not, is there a timeline when it will be offered?

Hi There,
Currently the certification for only Captivate 5.5 is available. As such there is no timeline to tell about when it will be available for Cp 7. Also with the release of Cp 8 now the certification may be for Cp 8 in near future instead of Cp 7. But still not sure about it.

Captivate Certification does not work for at least another week

Hi there,
yesterday I was supposed to take my class for the Adobe Captivate Certification (ACE Exam).
But Pearson Vue did not manage to send the test over two hours.
Last comment was:
We will look into this, but the next test will not be within the next week.
I had to laugh a bit, because I was trying to take an eLearning exam about eLearning creation software and the eLearning system did not work.
So - for everyone who scheduled a class, you probably want to check back, if it is working.
Pearson VUE did not contact me until now, so I cannot tell you any more.

Adobe Captivate 5 Certification

Hello fellow Adobe Captivate Users,
I have the opportunity to get certified in Adobe Captivate but there are no training resources. Has anyone completed the certification? If so what training resources did you use?
I called Adobe customer support and they stated that the Adobe Captvate 5 User guide would suffice. However, having compared the certification test preparation guide to the user guide, there are some pertinent functions that are not covered in the user guide.
Any suggestions would be helpful! I am not looking for tips on the test just some good resources to help me pass the test. A heads up on whether the test is difficult would be helpful I think.

No, there was a discussion if you search "30004" that references the dropped calls. It was posted in 11/14.
Let me make this clear so we do not have to go around and around again. My husband and I are on the same account. Therefore we both have verizon. He has an iPhone 5 and I have a 6. This was not a problem for me or my neighbors until a few weeks ago and I have had the phone since 10/14. My husband, who has the iPhone 5, has not experienced the dropped calls in the vicinity of our home and in our home. If it was the phone, why would I just be experiencing these issues? We are on the Cumming/Alpharetta line. 30040/30004 line. I'm sure that it wouldn't be impossible for you to check our address which is 240 Montgomery Avenue Alpharetta, GA 30004.
Please let me know what you would advise and let me know about our service area. If there has been a change without my knowledge I will need to return my phone or change carriers because I am not getting the service I am paying for.

Drop-down Menus in Captivate 3.0

We are developing a new training/certification course using
Adobe Captivate 3.0. How do we create a drop-down menu that easily
allows you to jump from one lesson to another? Also, we're
interested in creating a menu down the left-hand side using a
scroll bar. Is this possible, or do we need to use 'Next' and
'Previous' buttons to access more modules?

Hi Barry B and welcome to our community
I've never seen anything in Captivate that facilitates using
scroll bars. The closest I've seen is when inserting a FlashPaper
.SWF into a Captivate slide. But it's been my experience that only
a single FlashPaper .SWF will work. Others will fail.
One possibility is to use the Skin Menu. To create one of
these, you click Project * Skin * Menu tab. But it has its own
quirks. If you need to insert a new item near the top, you must
delete the bottom items until you reach where you want the insert
to occur. Then carefully re-add the former items. You are limited
in the amount of space you have to type text. Type too much and it
truncates and fails to display. Configure the font too large and it
gets cut off.

Captivate or browser crash

I'm trying to make a tour of my website using Captivate 2.
I'm running Windows XP. When I use Explorer 7 for the browser,
Captivate crashes when a pdf file is in the browser. The timeing in
unpredictible. It doesn't happen on the first screen of the pdf
file. If I switch to Foxfire 2, it's Foxfire that crashes instead
of Captivate. this usualy happens on a screen that has a Java-based
tool.

Hi. I'm trying to get Watchfire WebXACT certification for a
Captivate 3 production that I just created but I'm getting the
message-

plug-ins---. Can someone tell me how to incorporate the download
plugin within Captivate's HTML code?

If the certification allows a link in the HTML itself, then
just edit
the HTML itself ;-)
I don't know how smooth adding such a link within the
Captivate
presentation would be...especially that, if you do that, the
user would
have to load the Captivate movie in order to see the
link...which would
mean they already have the Flash player installed... If they
don't have
the player installed, they won't be able to load the movie,
which means
they won't be able to see the link to download the player...
So, just edit the HTML to include a 'Requires Flash Player'
hotlink to
the FlashPlayer download page. This will, of course, take a
little HTML
knowledge.

Communication entre Captivate et Dokeos concernant le score

Je sollicite votre aide concernant un problème que je rencontre lorsque j’intègre un module réalisé avec Captivate 4 dans Dokeos 1.8.4. En effet, une fois ce module intégré dans la plate-forme Dokeos, le tracking ne fonctionne pas et je n’arrive pas à récupérer le score de l’apprenant… J’ai fait plusieurs tests en changeant les paramètres dans Captivate mais rien n’y fait ! Quelqu’un aurait-il quelques conseils à me donner ?

La liaison série (RS232) est un moyen de communication très répandu pour la transmission de données entre un ordinateur et un périphérique.
Mais comment vas-tu encapsuler les données à transmettre ?
Pour faire simple, il te faut un driver qui est en quelque sorte le programme qui fait le lien entre le logiciel d’application et le matériel.
Le premier réflexe : internet. Le driver de ton instrument n’existe pas sur Internet (IDNet) alors tu vas devoir l’écrire. Pa de chance, cela va être plus compliqué, car tu ne connais pas l'IDE LabVIEW.
Sur du RS232, il est recommandé d’utiliser l’API VISA pour encapsuler les commandes (ensemble des VIs permettant de lire des données ou commander l’appareil). Tu vas devoir faire le driver Play & play LabVIEW (recherche sur internet comment).
Par contre, comme tu utilises un automate, il faut regarder s’il n’existe pas un serveur OPC, pour communiquer avec lui. (recherche sur internet OPC et le nom de ton automate)
Sinon je connais un très bon livre pour apprendre à utiliser LabVIEW (et pas labview). Bonne chance.

"Send email" button in Captivate 5.5 quiz

I am trying to get the results of a completed Captivate 5.5 quiz emailed to me from other people's computers, after they complete the quiz. The Send email button does nothing (no error message and no email). The quiz has been published in each of: PDF, Flash and HTML and the email button does not work in any of them.
After looking at postings on several forums, it appears that the problem may be a bug in Captivate or possibly a setting that needs to be changed in Flash player. The problem is that if it is necessary to change the Flash player settings, I can't do this on another user's computer, so this will never work.
In another project, I have used the send email button in Acrobat LiveCycle and that works perfectly well (opens an email message and attaches the information from the current Acrobat file as an XML attachment) - what's the problem with Captivate?

The problem isn't Captivate. It's the whole concept of using email as a 'reliable' reporting mechanism.
You are correct that this 'feature' will not work if you're trying to use it from published content in a folder on your local drive or a LAN server unless that folder has been added as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings.
You are also correct that it would be either impossible or impractical to try and change these settings on each end user's PC. To have any chance of success, your best output format for this would be HTM/SWF/JS and you should be considering delivering the content only from a web server, not a LAN or other type of drive.
However, even if you do everything right, email reporting (as you found with LiveCycle forms) still has many limitations and should be considered unreliable. There are too many ways it can fail, and most of those ways are outside your control. Added to this is the fact that since the solution requires the user to send the email message and not change any data first, it's really NOT all that secure. You could not hope to use it for courses where serious certification was a must.
The only times I have used it successfully with Captivate required a custom-coded web page (PHP) on a web server (Apache or IIS) that was used to dynamically send the email after receiving data in an encoded URL. Basically, the Captivate module would call this web page and the page would add the data from the URL variables to build the email. However, this is NOT standard Captivate functionality. I went this route because the client's LMS was only a few weeks away and they needed a very temporary solution. I would avoid doing something similar again unless there were no other available solution.

Captivate - student membership site?

We want to provide e-learning to Grade 10 - 12 adult learners to obtain matric certification in our country. However, as they will be a largely online community, how does one use captivate for such a situation where students need to register etc? Can I integrate captivate with an existing membership site? I am not entirely sure how to word my query.

My animated gif keeps pausing in captivate and flash

Hi guys, thanks for your help.
I made an animated gif in Photoshop CS4 and inserted it as an animation into captivate 6. The animation works (I played it several times by opening it with internet explorer and safari). But when I open it in Captivate the animation goes black for a split second-several times, before it reappears-several times. It gives it almost a "reloading" or pause look when I play it. The same in flash, but in Adobe Flash CS4 Professional the timeline shows black dots once in a while, as you can see in the screen shot below.
See those black dots? I will insert a picture of what happens, when the player lands on one of those black dots:
It's the same animation, but only shows a little. Like I said, it plays fine when I open it with an internet browser, it plays fine when I play it in photoshop, but it just won't work with flash or captivate.

No problem. Building a simple animation in Flash isn't that bad. You could save each "frame" as an image from PhotoShop and then import these into Flash and place one frame at the time on a keyframe in the flash timeline (press F6 to insert a keyframe).
If you want your animation to loop then you don't have to do anything as this is the default behavior. If you want it to stop at the last frame you insert a command in ActionScript to stop it. Select the last keyframe and hit F9 and type stop() in the ActionScript window.

How do I create multiple TEBs with one submit button on one page in Captivate 7

I've read other posts on this topic (which refer primarily to earlier versions of Captivate) and am still at a loss as to how to put multiple text entry boxes on a page with one submit button. Here's my scenario:
I am creating test questions.
Each test question has multiple text entry boxes (for numbers only).
Student should be able to enter numbers into the textboxes in any order.
Then there is one Submit button that should initiate validating all the text entries, and move to a scoring page (so I can test it). (What would be best is if this button not only did the above, but also submitted scores to the LMS. But that is not my question at this time.)
I'd like this question to be set up as a template so that I can duplicate it, be able to add or delete text boxes and change the values required in the text boxes.
Here is an image of a sample question page with multiple TEBs. The yellow boxes tell the student where they need to enter text:

I think the problem here is that Arlhoolie wants all of the different TEBs to behave as if they were part of a single interaction that submits only ONE result to the quiz. Using multiple TEBs in Captivate means that you have multiple scored objects and therefore multiple results being submitted to the quiz.
If you want a single Success or Failure result submitted to the quiz based on the results from multiple interactive objects then there really is no simple way to do it. But you could try using the Infosemantics Interactive Master widget to combine all the TEBs as slave objects that report to the Master Widget, which then reports a single score to the quiz based on the results from the slave objects.

Is it possible to play two videos at the same time in Captivate 4

My idea is to create some e-learning material which shows a screencast of a powerpoint presentation and a video in the top left corner of the screen showing somebody presenting the slides.
Does anybody know if it is possible to do this with Captivate 4?
I know this functionality is provided in Adobe Director.
Any help regarding this will be greatly appreciated

Do you have the eLearning Suite? If so, you have Adobe Presenter available to you. If you don't, you should be able to download the Presenter installation file and evaluate it.
Presenter is an add in for PowerPoint. The neat thing about it is that it provides for a Table of Contents type of functionality as you see is configured in Captivate. But the twist with that is you are able to do something you cannot do in Captivate. You are able to insert videos inside the TOC area!
