  • Forms 10g Builder with 11g Database Release 1 - Connectivity Problems

    Hello All,
I am trying to connect 11g Database (Version 11.1.0.7.0 mounted on Linux) from my Oracle Forms 10g Builder 10.1.2.0.2 in my client PC Windodws XP. But its just hanging and doesnt connects at all.
Strange is that from the same Oracle home i am able to connect to same 11g user through the reports builder 10g and
, sqlplusw and sqlplus from 10g home.
But i am not able to connect to 11g R1 database from my Forms Builder alone. Why is this? Can the PROs get me out of this problem please.
    Thanks in advance.

First, using 10.1.2.0 against 11.x is not recommended. You should at least be using 10.1.2.3 if you plan to work with 11.x. Further, there is a known issue which causes connection, compilation, and some sql execution to run significantly slowly. This issue has been corrected with a patch and new switch. If you have an active Support contact, I would recommend creating a Service Request in order to get the latest information.

  • One landscape with different databases releases

    Dears,
A customer have MSSQL 2000 installed on your systems DEV and QAS. The PRD system does not installed.
Now the customer need install only the production system, but he want with MSSQL 2005.
Does have problems? What SAP recommend?
    Thanks,
    Dejalma Rodrigues

    Hi,
It is possible to have different releases of DB within a landscape <u>as long as the same release of the SAP application supports it</u>. The end users will not see any difference.
The challenge is support for DB patching if you don't have anywhere to replicate production issues. Not to mention possible issues with different DB tuning parameters and back-up recovery processes.
I would suggest that you <b>at least</b> upgrade the QAS system to SQL Server 2005 too in the short term. The recommendation you will always get is to have all 3 aligned on the same release - that should be your longer term goal.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • Release 1 with Database Release 2

Which, if any, versions of Oracle9iAS Release 1 work with Oracle Database Release 2?

None of the Oracle9iAS releases is currently certified to work with Database Relese 2. We will certify Oracle9iAS Release 1.0.2.2 as well as Oracle9iAS Release 2 against Database Release 2 but it will be some time (end of July, at least) before the certification is done for 1.0.2.2.

  • Error while importing the Oracle8i database

The error message we get is "segmentation fault core dump".
This error Occurs when i had exported the whole Oracle8i database using system/manager and then trying to import any table from this export file(.dmp). We are using the oracle8i release 8.1.5.0.0 on solaris 2.7. import and export utility also has the same version(8.1.5.0.0). We have given imp_full_database to all the database users. we able to import any table from export file taken for a single user(user-mode).
    null

    Hi,
it is not astonishing that the error occurs every time you try this create table statement.
A table with this name already exists. And error -955 tells us exactly this.
    What to do?
As I do not know if there is data in this table and/or if there are views / other database objects
using this table, I cannot decide, if dropping this table would be a good idea.
But what I do not understand is, why during one (?) loading in a clean (?) database this
table is tried to create more than once. Or was the database you are loading into not clean,
fresh and empty? Then it will happen that not only this table, but some others will result in an error
    because they exist already.

  • EM12cR2 - Agent 12.1.0.2. compatible with older databases?

    Hello,
we still searched in MOS and found out, that the agent 12.1.0.2 is compatible (certified) down to oracle database 10.2.0.5
Unfortunately, we have a few older database releases to manage. Is it possible to monitor databases down to oracle 8i with the 12.1.0.2 agent, even though it is not certified?
    Thank you.

  • Current Patch Set for Oracle Database Release 11.2

    Hi
I am upgrading oracle 10G to 11GR2 in AIX 5.3 Environment with SAP ECC6 , I have just just installled Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 according to the "Database Upgrade Guide -Upgrade to Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2): UNIX". After database software installation , in upgrade manual in section 3.4.4 it says, you need to install current patch set for oracle database 11g R2 and referencing a SAP note 1431799.
I have just read note 1431799 which says Current Patch Set for Oracle Database Release 11.2 is not generally available for SAP customers until December 2010, also I donu2019t find the note 1522330 as mentioned in 1431799.
Please let me know how I can get current patch set to apply with Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 (Is it in SAP service market place?)
I also want to upgrade my installation to oracle 11.2.0.2, please let me know where I get the patch set to upgrade from 11.2.0.1.0 to 11.2.0.2,
    or
I have to live with 11.2.0.1.0 and apply SAP Bundle Patch ( SBP)

    Abu Al MAmun,
I understand from your posts that you recently upgraded to 11.2.0.2.
I am having the same difficulty, of finding the current patch set for 11.2. Could you please let me know how you worked around it?
    Thanks,
    Siri
    Hello Everyone,
I did read the post on to how you have to install the current patch set for 11.2.
But honestly, it pretty much flew over my head.
I am trying to upgrade our SAP AIX 64 bit test system from Oracle 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2.
And so far I have downloaded all the required sw for the upgrade, except for the current patch set 11.2.
This is what I have right now:
    1) Oracle 11.2 AIX 64 bit upgrade sw - 51038805_part 1 to 51038805_part 7 and 51039800.
    2) Database Patches -->Oracle 11.2.0.2 -->
    All they have here is
    a. Database RDMBS - SAP_112020_201012_AIX.zip and b. SAP_112020_201101_AIX.zip
    b. OPatch - OPatch_11201_Generic_v3.zip and mopatch-2_1_6.zip
    c. Database Vault - DV - >Generic - p9656644_112020_Generic.zip
If I am not wrong, the Database RDBMS files are nothing but the SAP Bundle Patches that have to be installed after installing the currrent patch set 11.2.0.2 using MOPatch.
But I did not find the currrent patch set 11.2.0.2.
Could someone please explain the process to me in detail? This being my first time , I am finding it a bit hard to catch up with some of the stuff.
    Thank You!
    Siri

  • Best practices to reduce downtime for Database releases(rolling changes)

    Hi,
What are best practices to reduce downtime for database releases on 10.2.0.3? What DB changes can be rolling and what can't?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    RJiv.

I would be very dubious about any sort of universal "best practices" here. Realistically, your practices need to be tailored to the application and the environment.
You can invest a lot of time, energy, and resources into minimizing downtime if that is the only goal. But you'll generally pay for that goal in terms of developer and admin time and effort, environmental complexity, etc. And you generally need to architect your application with rolling upgrades in mind, which necessitates potentially large amounts of redesign to existing applications. It may be perfectly acceptable to go full-bore into minimizing downtime if you are running Amazon.com and any downtime is unacceptable. Most organizations, however, need to balance downtime against other needs.
For example, you could radically minimize downtime by having a second active database, configuring Streams to replicate changes between the two master databases, and configure the middle tier environment so that you can point different middle tier servers against one or the other database. When you want to upgrade, you point all the middle tier servers against database A other than 1 that lives on a special URL. You upgrade database B (making sure to deal with the Streams replication environment properly depending on requirements) and do the smoke test against the special URL. When you determine that everything works, you configure all the app servers to point at B and have Streams replication process configured to replicate changes from the old data model to the new data model), upgrade B, repeat the smoke test, and then return the middle tier environment to the normal state of balancing between databases.
This lets you upgrade with 0 downtime. But you've got to license another primary database. And configure Streams. And write the replication code to propagate the changes on B during the time you're smoke testing A. And you need the middle tier infrastructure in place. And you're obviously going to be involving more admins than you would for a simpler deploy where you take things down, reboot, and bring things up. The test plan becomes more complicated as well since you need to practice this sort of thing in lower environments.

  • Problem with compatibility(database-BIBeans)

hello erybody, I have installed a jdeveloper and bibeans (both have version 9.0.4) an Oracle8i database
when I have to create new graph BIBeans,I have to connect on the database so it show me an error that his version is incompatible with BIBeans9.0.4,so sould I install Oracle 9i database or????(is there an upgrad for Oracle8i to 9i?)
    the ERROR:
BIB-16633 Connexion impossible car la version de la base de données est incompatible avec cette version de BI Beans.

BI Beans is not certified against 8i database from an OLAP data source perspective. This is because the OLAP component was introduced in 9iR2. However, the graph bean can be used with an 8i database by using and XML as the data source. There is an XML graph sample shipped with the latest BI10g samples.
There is also a lot of really good information on using the BI Beans graph with XML on the Reports OTN site.
    Hope this helps

  • Does  Analytic Workspace Manager 11.2.0.3.0A  work with oracle database 12c?

    hello,
i would like to know if AWM 11.2.0.3.0A works against with oracle database 12c in pdb mode or not .
    regards
    jm

I have attempted to connect 11g versions of AWM to 12c and get this error:
'This version of Analytic Workspace Manager is incompatible with the database instance. The Analytic Workspace Manager version is 11.2.0.3.0 and the database compatible version is 12.1.0.0.0'
So unfortunately it is not compatible, and there is currently no AWM for 12c
I also contacted Oracle support and they wont give me any information about a release date or any information on the xml template specification for 12c.
I guess we will just have to wait till they release a version of AWM that supports 12c...

  • How to parse an XML document with oracle8i

Has anyone a good link or an example how to decode and store an XML document into an oracle8i database.
I' ve found only good things for oracle9i.
    Thank you
    Roger

Here is an example of parsing xml taken fro Oracle8i 8.1.7 xdk.
This one uses external OS files to pase, but could be easily converted to
use CLOB or VARCHAR2 string for parsing XML documents.
IF you wanted to use CLOB to store and manipulate xml documents you can use XMLParser and XMLDom
packages along with the DBMS_LOB package to do that.
-- This file demonstates a simple use of the parser and DOM API.
-- The XML file that is given to the application is parsed and the
-- elements and attributes in the document are printed.
-- The use of setting the parser options is demonstrated.
