I had a doubt of which certification path to take for certification for 10g. From the Oracle site
(http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=140), it shows in the category of 'Middleware' but I feel 10g AS should be in the category of 'Applications'.
So,
a) Oracle Application Server 10g Administrator: Certified Associate
b) Oracle Application Server 10g Administrator: Certified Professional
shown in the category of 'Middleware' should be the one to be taken by me?
I hope, my question is clear.
Please, help in solving the doubt.

The quuestion is clear, and the answer is you must do the 1z0-311 exam first.
Please, help in solving the doubt.

Advice me regarding the certification path for 10g database certification.
Hello friends,
I am planning to take the certification for Oracle 10g database Associate, and am confused about the codes of the tests I need to take.
I have following queries:-
1) Is it enough to take 1Z0-042, to take Oracle Certified Associate, certification?
2) Is it necessary to take 1Z0-047 as a support for this certification?
3) Would I be considered for job openings if I get certified? (I mean the frequency of jobs). I know it is hard to answer this question, however I want an idea of applying for certified related jobs that accept OCA.
Please advice me in this regard.
Thanks in advance
MurliPlease post any other certification-related questions in the forum: Oracle Certification Program
To become OCA you need to do the 1z0-042 exam and one of the following exams: 1z0-007, 1z0-051, 1z0-047.
Becoming certified will put you in front of many people, but what employers are mostly looking for is experience. Many companies require a certification for the person to be even eligible for the interview, others use it as a differential. -
Want to know about certification path for Oracle 11g database OCP.
Is it OK to give the exams first and then submit the course studied for OCP ?
I have studied three modules required for OCP ; SQL Fundamentals, Admin I and Admin II, and now I am planning to give all 3 exams in January 2015. But I don't have Enrollment ID for course submission. The institute where I learned is trying for Oracle Workforce Development program for 11g, and it will take sometime. So presently I don't have Enrollment ID.SudeepShakya wrote:
Thank You Very Much. I will take all 3 exams and then submit the course after the institute acquires affiliation.
Could I take this opportunity to remind people to ensure people taking courses from non oracle university institutions ensure their training provider is authorized to deliver that training by Oracle University for the fullfilment of any associated Oracle certification training requirement.

Using common exam to achieve certification for OCA ( Developer + DBA )
Hi,
i have given a Oracle 9i : Introduction to Oracle 9i ( 1Z0-007) exam which is one of the two mandatory exams for OCA ( Developer ) . So my questions is .. once i complete my OCA ( Developer ) can i directly give (1Z0-031) to get an OCA (Dba) Certification or i would have to give the exam again ?
Thanx,
AbhishekThe exam (1z0-007) is a prerequisite exam for OCA (Developer or DBA Track). In your case, you have already passed the 1z0-007 exam, so you are very much eligible for writing the exam (1z0-031) without taking the exam (1z0-007) again to fulfill the prerequisite for the OCA – DBA track exams. Moreover, candidates may not retake a passed exam at any time. But, while registering for 1z0-031 exam, you have to show your passing details of the exam 1z0-007 to the parametric center.
Best of luck.

Hi friends,
I want to ask . Can i take in advance Oracle Administration I (1z0-052),then Oracle 11g Sql Fundamentals (1z0-051), i mean is there any difference of sequence?marcopb wrote:
According to this link
http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=458&get_params=p_track_id:Datab11g
you cannot.
On the link show it says:
Please Note: This is the suggested progression of the certification path. However, steps do not have to be completed in the order shown.
so that page indicates the exams can be taken in any order; but a certification will not be awarded until all the pre-requisites are met.
http://certification.oracle.com - support - faq ... I think has an authorative answer (from memory) ... but the site is currently down as I post.
However do be confident you can take the exams in any order .... however do be aware 1z0-051 then 1z0-052 should normally be the preferred order. -
Please guide me to prepare for OCA
Hi,
Can you please help me to prepare for OCA exam, let me know which material is best and how to prepare
Thankyou.user11266289 wrote:
Hey guys, I don't want to run too far away for the original topic here. (Sabdar I am reading your page with great interest) aside from the need to know WHAT to study, I am wondering where to begin? 9i, 10g or 11i? Is it best to learn 9i then the others in sequence or does it matter at all.
Keep in mind I am new to oracle and looking to learn so I can improve my job circumstance. I have been working IT help desk jobs since 2000, went through A+, and have a Win2K MCP. I worked a little with oracle back in 2003 (I believe we were using 8i) but really only scratched the surface of installation and setting up workstations to access existing databases.Phew
... well the link below shows Oracle offering about 7 OCA certifications in a number of categories.
... I think from your posts your probably more interested in the Database administrator ones....
... Unfortunately I am not sure an Oracle Database Administrator OCA will improve your job prospects, because you wont demonstrator the experience to back it up.
... If you do decide to with Oracle some that route concentrate on a 1z0-007 or 1z0-051 exam first then decide where ou are going.
... If you want to brush up your preliminary sql skills for nothing online the look at [http://www.w3schools.com/sql/default.asp], that is a safe website with regard to certification.
... If you still want to learn database skill ignore certification path initially but loouk the the oracle 2 day dba tutorials.
Please remember in my opinion everything in my earlier post remains valid. Oracle univeristy training is usually best.
I would also suggest you review if you should consider the folloing certifications:
ITIL v3 foundation.
CMA (MySQL) : This is currently being taken over by sun and then I presume oracle. Prehaps no way as prestigous as an oracle but a nice little interim certification nonetheless.
ISEB testing foundation.

Reading https: certification path
Sorry for crossposting but in the other thread I've got no answer for weeks.
While reading from a https site I get the a ValidatorException "PKIX path building failed:" caused by ValidatorException "unable to find valid certification path to requested target". I've found a lot of threads on this subject with a lot of questions but no answer. There's no problem with the certificate, each of my 3 browsers can access the site. I suppose the browsers acquires public keys from the internet while URLConnection.getInputStream() does not, but why?
Can I make it work generally so I can access any https-site from java just like my browsers can?
Can I make java ignore the absence of valid cartification path (of course, there is a risk, but in this case I do not care).
Can What else can I do? Download certificates and give it to java somehow?I think a cert has expired and a newer version is used now. My code didn't change. I better should not post the chain, but I'd like to send it to you per email. I haven't found your address, mine is [email protected] (pls write "https" or something like that in the subject as I'm getting quite a lot of spam and I'm good in quick deleting).

Certification topics for 1z0-051
I am preparing for the SQL fundamental exam 1z0-051. I am following the book :"OCA: Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Associate Study Guide: (Exams1Z0-051 and 1Z0-052) " by Biju Thomas.
Question: The exam topics in Oracle's certification website do not indicate subtopics. eg. Group functions is a topic listed but are sub-topics such as ROLLUP and CUBE part of the certification?
Thanks in advance.

[amazon link|http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-Database-Osborne-ORACLE-Press/dp/0071498508/ref=pd_sim_b_3] is this book enough for iz0-051??
can you refer a sybex book for this,so that can tally the explanations?...............
For anyone who has SQL experience, or has studied SQL as part of a WDP, or has a general SQL book already then either of the two books (+ their associated practice test in book and on CDROM should be adequate for 1z0-051:I did not get any testkit CDROM forr 007 even.as i am under WDP for 9i.
* ISBN-13: 978-0071597869: OCA Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-051 (Oracle Press)i found 2008 edition in our local market.so ISBN no. did not match.
* ISBN-13: 978-0470395127: OCA: Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Associate Study Guide: (Exams1Z0-051 and 1Z0-052) (Sybex)this book (probably written by Biju Thomas).
The first is usually cheaper, the second while more expensive also covers 1z0-052. I have seen the first book and it is adequate ; and I know of no reason why the second should not be adequate too. While for the self studying for OCA/OCP 10g/11g candidates i somtimes hint to people they should consider getting both Oracle Press and Sybex books; for this exam i tend to think this is not so necessary for most people.
wrt the book you referenced:
* ISBN-13: 978-0071498500: Oracle Database 11g SQL (Osborne ORACLE Press Series)
This book is designed to cover 11g SQL in general. It is more orientated towards learning and reference. While not tied to an exam it does probably cover most (if not all) topics needed for 1z0-047. Probably most professionals would find it as easy to look up oracle documentation most of the time. I actually have it, mainly because I it was an easy way for me to get a grip on the newer ANSI join forms whcih I am less useful. I cant say its not useful, but certainly some people would find it of limited use and others are quite happy with it.This book still to come in local market(india).
Thanx.whatever..........but remember this sybex books have very little hands on practice.ie.hardly you will find a query that is left for your practice. All of questions in MCQ basis.

MartinFrom a global viewpoint there is no such thing as the OCA exam , though for an individual focused on a particular exam for a particular OCA there may be such a a default.
There are many different exams associated with the many different OCA certifications.
For some it is suitable, for some it is not.
For the exams 1z0-051 and 1z0-144 this edition would generally be suitable .... for 1z0-052 it most probably would not, and for 1z0-402 and 1z0-403 it would be useless!! -
What JDeveloper certification paths are available?
Hi everyone,
What JDeveloper certification paths are available? Admittedly, I am a total newbie, but based on my prior experience, certifications are a great way to accelerate toward expertise. Currently, I am studying Java and JDeveloper as a way to retool my technical skill set. Having been certified Oracle Forms 9i, 9i, and 6, I can say that I understood some of the more obscure functionality as a result of completing a certification.
We have both R12 and 11i instances where I work, so if there is a path that is well suited for R12, I would certainly be interested.
As for my background, I am a techno-functional consultant that has an extensive background in Oracle BOM, MFG, and WIP, and my experience dates back to 10.7 NCA. As for my current position, I am the time and expense lead.
With that in mind, any suggestions that you have would be appreciated.
Thanks.
JamesHi Shay,
Thanks for the information. ADF and OAF differences and where they are used are understood. That said, we are using JDeveloper to create applications for our EBS environment. With OAF and EBS, the TEMPLATE.fmb and particular libraries were the starting point. ADF does not seem to have such restrictions, but since I am new to this arena, I wanted to be sure.
The link that you mentioned is where I got the following study guide link: http://www.oracle.com/partners/en/knowledge-zone/middleware/1z0-554-exam-study-guide-322495.pdf. But, I am a little surprised at a single exam; there four my prior certification. Do you have any recommendations for a JDeveloper book that covers all of these topics? -
Hi,
I had a small composite deployed in 11.1.1.6 and after an upgrade to 11.1.1.7 I am getting
javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Message send failed: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException:
PKIX path building failed:
sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
Does it mean that my soa composite now cannot validate the certificate of the server it is trying to connect to?
Can somebody share thoughts on how to fix it?
Thank you,
AnatoliyHi Robert,
Thank you much for the quick response. Not having big knowledge under my belt in this area I tried
1. Changed the keystore passphrase under my managed weblogic domain for the Demo Identity Keystore
2. ./keytool -importcert -alias avsclient -keystore /dnat8o/fmw/jrockit-jdk1.6.0_29-R28.2.2-4.1.0/jre/lib/security/cacerts -file client_cer.cer
Was prompted with the password but entering what I did enter in step 1 didn't help. Do I have to bounce the managed server once I change the passphrase, if what I a mdoing makes sense at all, not sure
Thank you,
Anatoliy -
recent grad looking for advice on a certification path. There are a number of different paths for Oracle Cerification; based off anyone's professional knowledge or market observations, what would be a good technology to be certified in? My aim is to be geared up for a career in BI.
any suggestions on the best one for today's market?hi,
anyway, the OCP on the Oracle Database (10g) should be a fundamental Certification on a Oracle Expert - also for BI, because BI needs a perfomant Database and the BI Developer should be know how to handle the Database.
Additional you should take a look on the Certification for the Applicationserver, because its the next step of the BI frontend-discoverer and a lot more things.
