Certification to become MCSA: Windows 7
What certification do I need to require the title MCSA: Windows 7 (after 31th of January 2014)?
Do I need to require 70-680 + 70-685 + 70-686
From the certification page:
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcsa-windows-7-certification.aspx
you need exam 70-680 plus either 685 or 686 (not both).
Apparently, the only change after January 2014 is that these exams will no longer give you the MCTS and MCITP certifications, but the requirements for the MCSA will be unchanged (in other words, the sentence that says "Exams 680, 685,
and 686 will still be required for the MCSA: Windows 7 certification" seems to be in error, or at least in contradiction with the main content of the page -- the "and" should be an "or").

MCSA Windows Server 2012 Certification Exam prep
I am studying for the MCSA Windows Server 2012 certification. I have looked at the books on amazon and would like your opinion on book selection. In the past I have found the self-pace exam prep books by microsoft to my liking. If you know of any
web sites that contain information on how to prepare for the MCSA Windows Server 2012 certification that would great too. I think I am going to setup a lab using Windows Server 2012 R2 machines to assist my learning so information on that topic would be great.
I am currently using Virtual Box to create virtual machines.Hi, I always liked the exam prep book from MS with hand-on lab. There is
http://www.microsoftvirtualacademy.com/ from MS as well, could be a good place to check. I know too that @KeithMayer on twitter do post a lot of ressource too.
I will move the thread to the learning section, as maybe other users got other ressource of value.

MCSA: Windows 7 to MCSA: Server 2012 (70-417)
Hello,
I currently have the 70-680 certification.
I have read that the MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician on Windows 7 (70-680 + 70-685) will retire 31 januari.
I have read that the MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator on Windows 7 (70-680 + 70-686) will retire 31 januari.
After 31 januari you will get MCSA: Windows 7 and before 31 januari also the other title.
What is the easies way to upgrade to MCSA: Windows Server 2012?
I have read that if you have MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator on Windows 7 you can upgrade it by passing the 70-417 exam. Is this also possible with the MCSA: Windows 7 after 31 januari or with the MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician on
Windows 7 before 31 januari.
I hope someone can clear this out for me, i looked on the internet for it but i only can find an upgrade path from 70-680 + 686
Kind regards,
RonaldHi, Ronald.
Yes - all remaining MCITP certification titles will be retired on February 1st, 2014. On February 1st, no one can earn these titles any more. These certification titles will remain active on transcripts for people who earned them - just no longer
attainable.
IMPORTANT: Since you have already passed 70-680, if you pass 70-685 or 70-686 before February 1st, 2014, you will earn
both the MCSA: Windows 7 and the associated
MCITP title! If you pass 70-685 and 70-686 before February 1st, 2014, you will earn all three (3) certification titles. Learn more about the Desktop MCITP titles here:
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcitp-certification.aspx#item-ID0EEAAAABCA
Yes - you can upgrade to MCSA: Windows Server 2012 just by passing the 70-417 exam. However, you need to have already passed 70-686 before February 1st, 2014. If you look at the upgrade options on the following web page, it states that MCITP: Enterprise
Desktop Administrator can be upgraded. However, not the MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician title! Think about it; a desktop administrator has more administrative responsibilities than a desktop support technician.
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcsa-windows-server-certification.aspx#upgrade
Yes - you will be able to take the 70-417 upgrade exam any time this year. This exam is not scheduled for retirement and there currently is no deadline for when you need to pass it. Remember, the whole purpose of this exam is to upgrade several different
titles to MCSA: Windows 2012. If you think about it - if the upgrade didn't count after January 31, the exam would be completely worthless. You can verify which exams are being scheduled for retirement here:
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/retired-certification-exams.aspx
Good luck!

Microsoft Word consistently becomes active window when clicking between dual screens and programs
13" MBP
2.3 ghz i5
8GB Ram
Running 10.9.2
Microsoft Word 2011
Dual screens with amazon Mini Display to VGA adapter
When I am running word between an external monitor and my MBP, Microsoft word always interrupts any clicks between programs and between screens to become the active window. This is especially annoying when I am trying to navigate between MacMail and Chrome, or any other programs.
The problem doesn't exist when I click between programs on the MBP, but only when I select windows between the two screens. Or programs on the external monitor.
Word is up to date, as is my MBP.
Please don't punt me to Microsoft, they're the worst!
Thanks! There is a workaround for this problem, which was posted by Highestwater on the Microsoft Community thread for this bug and worked for me as well:
Go to
System Preferences > Mission Control >
and UN-check the box labeled "Displays have separate Spaces" (see image below)
The original poster on this thread may already be aware of this workaround, because he/she mentioned that the "separate Spaces" option is checked. But if you can live without the extra Mavericks dual display features (like going full screen in 1 display only, switching spaces independently on each display, and having a menu bar on each display), then uncheck this option and the "stealing focus" bug seems to disappear. For me the bug is so annoying that it's worth it to lose the extra features. Just yesterday I closed a Word document I was working on by mistake because I clicked on a Finder window on my other display and immediately pressed command-w to close it, without realizing that the focus had switched to my word document which closed instead. It was saved, but this sort of stuff interrupted my work enough to be both an annoyance and a time drain. -
This happens when I have several tabs. I'll click another tab and a tiled window appears with one window being the page of the tab and the other one the tab beside it. It's become quite annoying.

Why are new tabs becoming new windows when I open them?
When I open a new tab (via a link or through Ctrl+T) and click on it while it's still loading, sometimes it will split from the others to become a new window. This is rather irritating. What could be causing this? Is it an option I'm missing or some feature I'm accidentally setting off?
It happens most frequently when a tab is loading, but it doesn't have to be. For example, when I switched tabs to paste my Troubleshooting Information here, this tab split into a new window.Make sure that you do not drag a tab in the browser window.<br />
Firefox 3.5 versions and later have a feature called tear-off tabs.<br />
You can detach a tab from the current window and open it in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.<br />
You can drag that tab back to the tab bar in the original window to undo that detaching.<br /> -
I have a test program that is utilizing the NI-9481 relay modules to switch power to a part and switch a Keithley 2000 DMM to measure the voltage. This test needs to power on and off the part 3000x for 4 minutes on and 4 minutes off. I implemented this design using a state machine design pattern. The timing is done in one minute increments using the "Get Time/Date in seconds" function available with Labview 8.2. Each minute a measurement is taken and the data is writen to a text file.
-Measurements Algorithm:
-Prior to anything, instrument is initialized with a reset, enters state machine loop
-Measurment Function, configures DC Volts and trigger, (relays switch), send trigger and read from instrument when SRQ is asserted
-Switching Algorithm:
-DAQmx Create task w/Auto cleanup(T)
-DAQmx Create channel - Digital Output
-Property Node for Channel - DO.Invert Lines = False
-DAQmx Generate Digital 1D Data
-DAQmx Write Data w/ Auto start(T)
I have been working out the bugs with the devices we are communicating with and they appear to be working normally, however for the second time(yesterday was a DAQmx error) at cycle 131(17ish hours into the test) the program has become unresponsive and windows will not open the task manager and windows explorer reports "Insufficient system resources" when attempting to open a window. Labview is not reporting an error...
Currently I suspect the while loop that is controlling the timing and am placing a WaitTillNextmsMultiple function in the loop set to 500.
Also I wonder if the DAQmx sequence is consuming memory and eventually consumes all system resources.
If anyone has any ideas or knows of a problem with the devices I am using please help. Thanks

If the bolded stuff is happening repeatedly... you have answered your own question.
LV will not destroy resources until it exits as part of its clean-up routine.
Create tasks and allocate resource once when you start and re-use them until you are done, then detroy them.

When the new version of MCSA window server will release?
The Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate certification is the foundation for higher certifications and prerequisite for the Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).
No one knows this answer except those at Apple. If it hasnt been announced, no one else knows.

Above is self explanatory, on "find" alt-n and alt-p was available, now it's not. WHY DO YOU CHANGE SOMETHING THAT WORKS PERFECTLY JUST TO GET SOME JOLLIES ??????
Yes, I have the same problem. I am now forced to use the mouse to click on the up/down arrows next to the "FInd" text box to find previous or find next.
Is there a way to enable these alt+N and alt+P shortcuts for the find feature?
This is one of the basic browser functionality that I use a lot. Seems to be a very myopic design change to me. Why? -
Hello All:
Are there any caveats to upgrading PowerShell 2.0 to 3.0 on a customer's Certification Authority server? The customer will also be upgrading to SCCM 2012 and employ this server as a Distribution Point.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.Hi Erik,
I haven't tried to upgrade powershell on Certification Authority server, however, Windows Management Framework 3.0 requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0, and you need to change .NET version on server 2008 SP2.
For more detailed installation instruction, please follow this article:
Windows Management Framework 3.0
If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

Using the latest Version 3.4 of Windows App Certification Toolkit to check Windows 8.1 compatibility our Installer was not approved on:
Certification requirements for Windows desktop apps
5.5 Your app installer must create the correct registry entries to allow successful detection and uninstalls
But all necessary settings are done and after the installation of our application we will find all settings in the registry.
We use an MSI Installer embedded in a bootstrapper exe. The MSI Installer is made with the WiX Toolset V3.6.
The same Application Installer got approved on November, 2014.
We checked this issue against the latest version of MSThreatModelingToolkit installer which also was made with WiX toolset and it fails, too.
So is there a higher restriction or do we miss anything?Hi Wibudev,
I would suggest you to double check if you have miss something in registry, per documentation mentioned, the installation module must create the following registry entries during installation:
DisplayName
InstallLocation
Publisher
UninstallString
VersionMajor or MajorVersion
VersionMinor or MinorVersion
WACK 3.4 is the latest version, I don't think there would be any higher restriction but I will recommend you to test with another computer to see if the validate fails again. Sometimes the issue could be on the PC environment.

Hi all.

Whether Windows 2012R2 is not trying to build a certificate path, treating smart card logon certificate as (Sub)CA certificate?
Previous and probably wrong idea:
The only thing that comes to my mind is my SubCA.
I have two CA Certyficates:
Certyficate #0 (expired)
Certyficate #1 <- valid.
I guess that all Windows before Windows 2012 R2 build certyficafion chain from valid (second #1) certyficate. Windows 2012 R2 take first and we have:
"A certification chain processed correctly, but one of the CA certificates is not trusted by the policy provider.
[ value] 800B0112 "
This is a bug or feature?
How I can fix this without removal Certificate #0 from my SubCA?
Best regards
