Certification with RHEL 4

Any news on the certification of RHEL 4 on X86/AMD64?
I have seen the press release announcing it but when will it be officially supported? Broad timelines would be useful ...

We're also waiting for that big announcement to become a reality. Most needed is AS 9.0.4.
From press release
"Oracle infrastructure and enterprise application products, including Oracle Database, Oracle Application Server, Oracle Collaboration Suite and Oracle E-Business Suite have been certified to run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4"
http://www.oracle.com/corporate/press/2005_feb/02.15.05_redhatcert_final_site.html
As far as I know only Database 9.2 live up to that. What a shame.

  • Ocfs2 and the certification with Oracle

    Hello @all,
I'm wonderíng when the certification (linux x86) is done.
And more when the certification with x86_64 will be done.
Which release is actually in the certification process?
Is it ocfs2 1.0x, 1.1x or the new announced 1.2?
If one is certified, can we use the newest like 1.2x and have still oracle support?
OCFS2 is nice and we would like to use it for our production databases. But we must be sure to use the correct version with oracle support.

it looks like it will happen on 04/21/06 ;)

  • Is 10gR2 32bit client certified with RHEL 5 (64bit)?

    Is 10gR2 32bit client certified with RHEL 5 (64bit)?

    It says
"Running 32-bit Linux x86 Oracle Database server on Linux x86-64 AMD64/EM64T (64-bit OS) is not supported "
I could be wrong but I think that means on "AMD64/EM64T" only its not supported.

OK, you are right, only 11gR2 Client is good.

  • Application Certification With APEX 10G XE

    Hi all,
Has anyone implemented Application Certification to the application developed in Oracle Application Express 10G XE? My requirements are:
Accessibility - check against WCAG and Section 508 guidelines
Usability - check against Usability.gov and W3C guidelines
HTML standards - check against W3C HTML, XHTML and CSS standards
    Browser compatibility
Can anyone help me implementing these things? Please do reply if its not feasible too. Thanks
    With Regards,
    Sunil Bhatia - Programmer
    Eon Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

That's quite a lot to handle all at once if you've no previous experience...
    Start with the easiest:
HTML standards - check against W3C HTML, XHTML and CSS standardsThere are online HTML and CSS validators all over the place.
There are also lots of Firefox plugins available. One we have made use of is Total Validator as it also includes accessibility recommendations and spell checking. It's also available as a standalone program on some platforms.
Accessibility - check against WCAG and Section 508 guidelinesThe (often questionable) output of the online accessibility tools is useless if you don't know how to interpret what they are recommending – and often more importantly whether it's actually useful or not. The best resource by far is Joe Clark's book Building Accessible Websites, available online to read for free. (It is – perhaps surprisingly given the subject matter – one of the most readable books about the web available.)
Usability - check against Usability.gov and W3C guidelinesNot an area I'm very familiar with. If you're going to do it right then you need to perform proper usability testing, probably by engaging a specialist usability consultant.
    Browser compatibility1. Code to standards.
    2. Define browser support requirements, allowing for graceful degradation in less supported browsers.
    3. Test test test.
The latest UK Government guidelines on browser testing have met with support in the standards community, and provide good advice on how to proceed.
You then need a test environment that provides all the browser versions you are going to support. This is complicated because certain vendors don't make it easy to install multiple versions of their browsers simultaneously, or you might have requirements to test several browser and OS version combinations. The best approach to this is to use VMs: they're isolated from your developer/organisation builds, so you won't break anything internally; you can build up a library of test environments as browser and OS versions change; they're disposable if they get hosed by hacks (e.g. to install multiple browser versions).

  • Discoverer 11g certification with JRE 1.7

    Hello,
Oracle Support Note 1469683.1 "Discoverer 11g With Java 1.7 (JDK or JRE) Fails With Exceptions" states that Discoverer 11.1.1.6 is certified
with Java 1.7 when using Weblogic 10.3.6. It indicates that this information can be found in the certification matrix. I have looked at the most recent certification matrix and I have found where it says JDK 1.7 (server-side) is certified with FMW 11.1.1.6.0. However, for Discoverer, the certification matrix specifically states that JDK 1.7 is NOT supported with Discoverer. So I am curious, which document is correct?
As for the JRE, the certification matrix mentions that Forms is certified with JRE 1.7 but it does not say anything about Discoverer and JRE 1.7. I want to make sure I am using an "Oracle certified" configuration.
I have Discoverer 11.1.1.6.0 and WebLogic 10.3.6. My server-side JDK is 1.6.x. My client-side JRE will be 1.7.x. Is this an Oracle certified configuration?
    Thank you.

  • EBS 11i Adaptor certification with 9iAS/ 10g AS Interconnect and FMW 11g

I'm trying to get three compatibility questions answered regarding the 9iAS / 10g Interconnect product to assist with upgrade planning:
    1. Is the EBS 11i Adaptor with 9iAS Interconnect certified when the underyling EBS database is Oracle 10g? (the certification page is not specific in this regards, it doesn't mention the underlying database release)
    2. Is the EBS 11i Adaptor with 10gAS Interconnect certified when the underyling EBS database is Oracle 10g?
    3. Does the EBS 11i adaptor for Fusion Middleware 11g work against an Oracle EBS 11i that is running on a 10g database?
    Thanks.

    Hi Pritesh,
    With Pleasure brother
Is the  oracle application server 10g is required to install in my case.
No, You don't need to worry about this, as you are not working with Portal.
    But just to clarify:
When you upgrade from 11i to R12 application, then 10g Application Server will be automatically configured as R12 Application uses 10g Application Server by default.
    Please refer note:

  • Migrate from StorageTek D280 to EMC-CX4 Clariion with RHEL 4U4 RDAC Kernel

    Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone's had the opportunity to migrate a RHEL 4 server running a modified Linux kernel that includes Engenio's RDAC in the initrd image from a StorageTek SAN to EMC PowerPath on Clariion?
EMC has nothing up on their PowerLink site that has any value, and I have some concerns as I can't Google anything on a proven working migration process (which tells me no one's really done this and documented it). Looking for confirmation of any of the following scenarios:
    1. Reboot into vanilla, non-RDACized kernel, update Qlogic drivers (QLA2340) install EMC PowerPath, use "inq" utility to locate identical LUNs on STK, add EMC disk to the LVM2 volume group, use pvmove to migrate data from STK to EMC LUN device, remove old STK from volume group.
    2. Leave RDAC modified kernel on system, try installing EMC PowerPath (!), add EMC disk to volume group, pvmove data from STK to Clariion, remove old STK from volume group.
For option 2, I hope to soon have a test system (that is currently a production system going through a data migration to another server) available that I could try these options upon. However, I have concerns as I hear PowerPath and RDAC do not get along (same holds true for PP and Linux MPIO).
    Questions I have:
If I go with option 1, and boot into a vanilla kernel, sans RDAC, I "believe" I would see multiple paths (whence the need to identify which disks are identical with EMC's "inq" utility. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
If I go with option 2, and leave the modified RDAC kernel alone (having PowerPath and RDAC on the same server at once), does anyone portend data corruption / hung server / end of the world and general doominess?
There's also option 3, which I probably have to consider as well:
    3. Based on EMC's Grab utility's recommendation, upgrade the Qlogic driver, install new kernel, make new initrd, install RDAC (or not), and generally enter into new unknown territory on an unknown kernel (the kernel could be solidly proven to someone else, but not yet in my shop).
But option 3 is really simply a rehash of options 1 & 2 and understanding what to expect during the migration. Any advice is appreciated.

A obvious one : just use supported versions. It's not very strange that a combination does not work, if Oracle does not certify it.
