Certified RFID hardware?

Hi everybody,
I am configuring the RFID flexible delivery scenario ant I want to implement the RFID reader now.
Are there any proofed devices from SAP side? Or can I use just the reader I want to.
We try to code an own device management interface and therefore I would like to know if there is a list of RFID readers that are supported by SAP. I only found a list of device controller partners.

Basically the RFID data from the tag reach AII through a Reader.
Once the tag data was read and interpreted by AII it can be communicated to arious other SCM products such as EM and backend ERP through XI.
Details about RFID with AII and XI.

  • How about the RFID device and SAP AutoId connections?

    Hi All,
Scenario1 (Ports are enabled from client system): Client m/c is in different location and SAP AutoId Server is in different location. I have to connect the RFID reader and device controller to Client m/c to send the PML message to Server system. Is it possible?
(Or) Do we need to connect the RFID Hardwares directly to the SAP Auto Id server?
Scenario2 : I have to connect the server system through VPN, in this case If I connect the RFID hardwares to client system. Is it fine?

    Hi Stellare,
I fully agree with Daniela Bork. You've installed 5.2 and you need some preliminary data load like rules, messages etc. as per the installation & config guide. By doing so you're loading standard risks(Global) will be created in the system. This value if you want to check at table level this should be at your DB attached to the Java stack.
ABAP stack tables are /virsa.... and virsa_cc are java stack tables.  It depends on which version of GRC you're using.

  • RFID Technology

can any one help me out in integrating RFID technology with XI without using AII component.
    waiting for the earlist reply
    Thanks in advance
    Vijay Kumar Govindu

    Hi Vijay,
Actually According to me these are the various implementations of interfacing RFID System with SAP,
1.You can interface the RFID system with SAP AII with XI as the middleware.
2.You can interface the RFID system with SAP R/3 without using SAP AII but can use XI as the middleware.
3.You can also interface the RFID system with SAP R/3 without using both SAP AII and XI AND using only R/3.(i am not sure whether this implementaion is feasible as far as time and cost is concerned, but it is possible technically)
First and foremost you have to choose your choice of implementation.
And if you dont have to use SAP-AII as in your case then you have to go for the second scenario mentioned above.
But in this case if you donot have RFID hardware support then you have to assume various things And if you are using RFID hardware then the RFID Implementation depends a lot on the hardware you are using. Here it is important that your RFID IMPLEMENTATION gives you either A XML file or FLAT FILE as a output.Which will be then passed to SAP VIA XI, using XI we can connect it to SAP R/3 using either an IDOC or RFC.
I am glad to inform you  that the document highlighting the implementation of second scenario in which you are interested in  is already published on SDN.
My Technical Paper is titled Case Study RFID Enabled Automated Toll Collection Connecting SAP R 3 Using XI
Direct Link of the document is as under
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c444f8e8-0d01-0010-4d9b-c6ff68e64519.
The case study which I have mentioned in this approach is a demo application.
I should say if you got to implement any of the RFID-SAP application with this approach , you have to do the feasibility study in all aspects both cost and time wise.
I hope this should help you.

  • Yoga 2 Pro - Frequent issues after Tablet Mode and Suspend in Windows 8.1

    Hi,
I bought a Yoga 2 Pro running windows 8.1 in December 2013. The machine runs fine, but from the beginning I experience frequent system issues whenever I have the Yoga in Tablet mode (display turned to the back).
The issues sometimes arise directly after I resume from tablet mode. More frequent the issues appear once I had the machine in tablet mode and after had it in suspend mode!
Some of the frequent issues that arise after I resume from tablet mode:
Power surge at right USB Port, where I have my mouse connected! The connected device cannot be provided with enough power. (Note, the left port still works), or
WiFi not working any more (No WLAN device detected, WLAN not functional), or
Bluetooth not working (No Bluetooth device detected, BT not functional)
All issues reliably disappear with a system restart!
I have already updated my drivers, scanned the Lenovo and Microsoft forum whether this is known without success and hope this avenue will bring me more luck.
What makes the bug hard to narrow down is that I do not have a recipe to reproduce the error. Not every time I turn the display in tablet mode the symptoms are equal! But what I can is that the tablet mode is the most common denominator I found so far.
    Any helped/suggestions much appreciated.
    Regards
       Florian

Yea, great... it seems like these articles and suggestions come up in the forum, and then there is always someone that says "it didn't work but this solved it for me" which ammounts to setting the screen at full brightness all the time.   LENOVO, HOW ABOUT FIXING THE ISSUE!!!  It definitly has something to do with power, in my case _the only_ thing that fixes it is either plugging in a power cord or closing the screen, reopening it and hitthing the power button to turn it back on (both are REALLY annoying if you're trying to get work done).
I'm a fairly experienced IT guy, and I used to swear by _IBM_ Thinkpads and related laptops, then when they went to Lenovo a few years ago it seems like the support has gone to hell and the hardware appears nice but is sketchy (this thing should have never shipped with this display problem or the wifi card issues that it shipped with).   Honestly if issues like this don't get resolved Im not likely to order any more, ever.  Not for my self or for my organization, we will stop persueing contracts with you and certifying the hardware for our work (though with the lenovo purchase it was deemed that the hardware wasn't certifyable for certine applications anyway).  Yes, that will cost you a few thousand sales a year, which is  a drop in the bucket for you, but I'm sure I won't be the only one.

GSX, if you're referring to Apple's service by that name, is available only to employees of Apple-authorized service providers or self-servicing accounts. Unless you are employed by such an organization, you cannot access GSX. If you are employed by such an organization, they should set you up and give you the appropriate login information.
If you are interested in becoming a certified Apple hardware technician, you can find information here:
    http://training.apple.com/certification/acmt
Please note, though, that certification does not in and of itself give you access to any of the Apple resouces for support organizations; diagnostic tools, parts ordering, etc. You again must be employed by an authorized Apple support provider before you can gain such access.
I have no idea what "knowlaged" might be.

  • Middleware - SAP AII

    Hi RFID Friends,
i found many informations about SAP AII and RFID Tech. in this , but nothing to a Middleware, witch is essentail for comm. between RFID hardware and SAP. help.sap.com is like a cloesed book in this case. I read about BizTalk or Websphere, XI... but all those are to much for an Small Business case. it's unclear for me:
    1. What SAP AII need to get DATA from an Reader. What is the simply and cheap way?
    2. Because AII is an standalone System, is XI neccecery to get this Information from AII into SAP ERP?
    Can you help me please.
    Thank you all
    Bülent

    Hi Bullent,
You were correct in not finding out any information on RFID Middleware on help.sap.com.
This is because SAP is not involved in that business at all. Instead SAP depends upon its partners to deliver RFID middleware solutions. For eg, Biztalk from Microsoft, IBM middleware and PIXIE from Infosys technologies Ltd are such examples. SAP AII exposes an interface which the middleware development team has to comply with. Then there is also a SAP Certification process for Device middlewares that support communication with SAP AII.
SAP similarly also depends upon its partners for RFID hardware also. For. Zebra, Motorola are some of the RFID hardware that are compliant with SAP AII for mobile devices.
    Answer to your questions:
    1) SAP AII can get whatever data is written on the tags. It depends on your business requirement what data is needed by you on the tags. There is no simple or cheap way. There are two ways.
    a) Fixed Readers: Require RFID middleware between hardware and SAP AII
    b) Mobile Readers: Can be directly supported by SAP AII witout device middleware. (So this can be cheaper )
    2) Yes SAP XI is necessary to send data to SAP ERP. Else it will require huge custom abap development to support this.
I hope i have answered your questions. Thnks

  • PML message in AII

    Hi All,
I am using BIZTALK RFID server as a device controller and BIZTALK SAP Connector to send the PML message to AII.
I have added the component(SAP Connector) in BIZTALK RFID server and I have to do the URI setting to point AII listener, something like http://sapmachinename:port. Could you please tell me the exact URI, I have to mention in BIZTALK RFID server and in AII side from where I can see this PML message.
    Regards
    Sara

    Hello,
the PML messages have to be sent to the following url
    http://machine:8000/sap/scm/ain?sap-client=042
the second 00 in the port is the instance number of the machine.
You can easily find out the url for your system. Star transaction sicf. navigate to node default host  -> sap-> scm -> ain.
In the context menue of the node click test service.
In sicf as well you can swithc on recording for this node. Witth this you can see if and which messages are arriving.
the logging of the process in AII is visible then in tx slg1.
Sounds interesting what you are doing. Is this bizaalk rfid server controlling the rfid hardware ?
    Best regards

Maybe not the best section ..
But we have in mind changing existing Oracle licences on all existing systems (ECC;CRM;PI,BI) with HANNA(and use HANNA DB)..

    Hi Jan,
If I understand correctly you are going to perform database migration activity in your present landscape. Firstly you have to contact SAP as well as one of the third party hardware vendor (who is going to provide certified HANA hardware). SAP will provide you all the license details.
For whole your migration activity below link will be helpful:-

  • M Appliances: how to do a backup or a way to do it

    Hello,
I will realize a replacement of deffect appliance Serie M but I don't want to lost all collecting data.
    Do you have a idea?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Arnaud

    Well...
If I managed to get their approval... i suppose you can do it too...
As said before: you need a long breath and a lot of “argumenting” for it.
I think the strongest argument you can use is the fact they store unique data on the devices without offering the possibility of backup/restore.
In my (and my management's) opinion it's not acceptable that they suggest you have to give up al your historical data for a broken memory module.
If they do not trust their customers in replacing simple hardware components like this, the least that can be done is offering the visit of a qualified support engineer who can/may do such changes.
After all the Ironport hardware is produced by Dell, and certified Dell hardware engineers are present in every (maybe nearly every) country.
The most optimal solution would of course be the possibility to backup and restore the contents of a M series device (including regular backup scenario’s to answer to “the unexpected”)
Keep your head up and, take a deep breath and try to convince your service engineer (over and over again)

  • GeForce GTX vs Quadro: the comparsion

I would like to look for a right video card for CS5.5 or new CS6 video editing only.  I looked at the requirement for my future new PC, but I need your help for providing me more information on the comparsion between GeForce GTX and Quadro.
What does GTX have that Quadro does not have?
What does Quadro have that GTX does not have?
I would like for you to give me a chart on the difference between them like an outline comparsion or column comparsion.
Also, what is the maximun of RAM memory for video editing?
    Thank you

    GTX$$$ & Quadro$$$$$$$$$$
If you are looking for improvising your performance first make your self next´s question´s:
What processor do I have: AMD or intel? dual, Quad, Exa core...?
How much Ram do you have, HDD CONFIG, Overclocking, Cooling etc...
Get the maximum of your pc before order a $$$$$$$ Video card.
Gtx 580 can perform 80% of the quadro 5000?
...but it always was vice versa...
quadros were always slower "viewpoint performance" but they're "for some reason" certified autodesk hardware... but for example the gtx295 is also certified.
the problem is now that there is a driver opengl performance problem reported by some people using the new 4xx series[ a great performance drop down in dcc apps...]
    The GTX580 has 512 cores, running at 772MHz, 1002MHz (Core/RAM)
    The 5000 has 352 cores, running at 513, 750
You decide. Don't see a reason to buy a Quadro when you cam improving in so many others areas

    Hi,
Our client wanted to run AII application . but we are not sure what is this for ?
    What is AII system ?
How we can use this ? Is there a seperate license for this instance . Can we install AII on exsting R/3 or XI system?
Please suggest asap.We have client discussion very soon.
    - Kristene

    Hi
AII (Auto Id Infrastructure) is an application that helps in a RFID integration.
You can connect RFID hardware devices to AII application and run business rules to enable tracking of assets to which RFID tags are applied.
Yes there's a separate license for it. You can install AII on existing R/3. But better way is to install separately and connect to it via XI.
For more details refer to these links:

  • Certification of Cisco UCS B-Series blades

Are there any plans for certification of the Cisco UCS B-series blades?
As far as i can find on the novell website they are already certified for SLES11 from Novell.
    Greetings, Stefan Dietz

    Hi Stefan,
yes, we will certify CISCO hardware. Hopefully this will happen during the next 6 months. I cannot give more specific information at the moment. The SLES11 certification from SAP will also be available soon (see SLES11 thread in this forum as well).

  • Note 84855

    Hi,
I need to know everything about SAP note 84855.
    can anybody help me?
    what is it about?
I can't find it - have no id or password.
please help me if you can,
    best regards.
    Marek.

    Hi ,
for you the entire note !
    Note 84855 - Certified hardware
    Summary
    Symptom
    Which hardware is certified?
    Solution
SAP supports the following HW platforms: UNIX, NT, AS/400 and S/390.
However, this note deals only with UNIX and NT HW certification processes.
NT hardware is usually certified by the company AddOn. This company only certifies complete hosts. The company cannot certify specific components due to the diverse combinations that are possible.
If you still want individual components tested, contact the AddOn firm. However, note that the execution of such Test suites does not mean that SAP has given it any certification status.
You can get more information about AddOn NT hardware certification for R/3 or more information about the names of NT hardware manufacturers certifired for R/3 via: http://www.saponwin.com.
The operating system and not the hardware is certified for UNIX hosts. However, you should note the following: At the moment, SAP supports the following UNIX derivatives only on computers from the following producers:
Linux (Suse and Redhat) on Intel HW by Fujitsu-Siemens, Sun, IBM, HP Dell, Unisys, Bull.
Linux for zSeries (SuSE) on IBM eServer zSeries hardware (64-bit architecture),
Linux auf PowerPC (SuSE und Red Hat)
IBM AIX on IBM and Bull Hardware,
HP-UX on HP hardware (HP-UX on Hitachi hardware is only supported
                                      in Japan for SAP products),
    Tru64 UNIX on HP hardware,
Sun Solaris on Sun hardware and Fujitsu-Siemens hardware,
    FSC ReliantUNIX on FSC Hardware.
For an operating system for which more than one hardware type is
available (example: Both Sun and Fujitsu-Siemens offer servers with
Sun Solaris as operating system), SAP does not differentiate the
hardware. Compatibility of the hardware is guaranteed by the
respective harware partner. This means in particular that SAP
kernel patches that are made available by SAP for a combination of
operating system and database exist in one version only that runs on
all hardware types available for the operating system. A copy of
an SAP system from one hardware type to another, without changing the
operating system platform, is a homogeneous system copy from SAP's point of view.
Certified Linux hardware is maintained in SAP notes by
the partners at LinuxLab, which can be found in SAP Note 171356:
You can find the released operating systems as well as information about the SAP planning for future versions via the Note Search in the SAP Service Marketplace (search terms: released operating systems) or via links in the SAP Service Marketplace Platform and Technology Information Center http://service.sap.com/platforms
If you still need information regarding hardware, contact the corresponding Competence Center. You can find the telephone number in Note 16481.
