Hi,
I am planning to take a course for vmware vsphere 5.5 to get certified later, is there a site or URL to check if the training center its certified by vmware in order to qualify for the exam after taking the course, its for VCP exam VMware Certified Professional 5 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP5-DCV)

I found this information for the partner using the instructions you gave me, it has the below solution competencies but does not appear as training center, does this mean if I take the course there I wont be able to take the VCP exam as it does not fill the pre-requsites?

Training suggestions for RAC course

I would like to take a training course in Oracle Real Application Clusters. I previously took a 10g Admin I course with Oracle University in NYC, and it was okay, but the cost was quite high: $3000 USD for five days. They also offer a RAC course, but this is even more expensive: $3750 for five days!
I'd like to know of any quality alternatives in the United States, especially at a lower cost. I've found a few courses that seem to be good, but they cater to larger groups and on-site training.
Perhaps this isn't the best venue for such a question, but I hope that Oracle will understand someone in my position, looking for quality training at a reasonable cost.

I read that Oracle permits only their own courses for "hands-on credit" toward certification, but I'm not sure what that means, as I thought you needed only to pass their test to be certified. Is this true?

Garmin Training Center software issue.

I have been using Garmin Training Center for years on my iMac - without out any trouble. I use it with a Forerunner 305. Today, Training Center decided to quit. I've tried reloading, but get an error message that I need to "update" my software. When I do, it says it could not locate a file necessary for operation. It's this cycle over and over. I remove all Garmin files and reload, only to end up here. To make matters worse, it won't allow me to reinstall using Time Machine. I get the same message, even when I go back to the first copy of this app that I have (5/5/14), or yesterday (12/22/14) when I knew it to last work. I'm certain this isn't a difficult problem to fix - I'm just not sure what to do. Can anyone suggest something that might help?

Your machine cannot be running an IOS system as your profile suggests. So my reply will only relate to the use of the Snow Leopard 10.6.8 system if that is what you use.
I have had a lot correspondence with Garmin about their withdrawal of support for 10.6.8. In my case I simply needed to connect to the express map update service but despite promising the service in their sales blurb, they removed the facility from their website. I am just wondering if this support situation affects your needs. They have no intention, they tell me, of reinstating support for 10.6.8.

Approval of OCP Course Reqm't from a Non-Oracle-authorized training center

I am currently an OCA, but would like to get my OCP certification. I took an instructor-led training, specifically a 3-week course covering one week of each: 1) SQL Fundamentals I, 2) Program with PL/SQL, and 3) Oracle Database Administration Fundamentals. I took my two Oracle OCA exams from the training center after the three-week training course and also received a certificate from the training center confirming that I completed the course.
However, the training institute is not an Oracle authorized training center. Does this mean that I will not be able to get credit for these for my OCP certification since the training institute is not an Oracle authorized training center?

Just to clarify .... as far as i know ..... and this is all as far as I know ....
The hands on course requirement can be met by a approved course on the selected list of the certification taken from an Oracle Approved Education Center, Oracle Unversity, or WDP.
It is possible for a WDP institute to be offering Oracle Training outside of the WDP course, this would not be acceptable for certification. It would be nearly impossible for a student to realise this with clarity. (As far as I am aware WDP training would be characterised by a limited number of hours per week, about 4 or so, as far as I am aware if your training exceeded this intensity you should not be on a ).
It is perfectly possible for a institution to offer training for certification training without delivering oracle approved OAEC or WDP courses; however :
- The training will not qualify for meeting hands on course requirements.
- It may be that the institute shouldbuy relevant oracle licenses from Oracle.
- The student is pleased the training gets them their OCA; however it is only afterwards they realise it does not help towards a DBA OCP.
From your point of view it is worth remembering PL/SQL OCP and FORMS OCP does not currently have a hands on course requirement; so you could pursue that i suppose.

If Oracle University believes you have what it takes based on experience, you do not even need your OCA. But you better have very very very good credentials in lieu of the certificate.
If and when you become a trainer, the normal process - for each course you teach - is to
- attend the course as a student (you pay to learn the material)
- attend the course a second time (for no pay) as an observer (to learn the emphasis on material)
- teach the course (for no pay) as a supervised trainer (a qualified trainer will observe and provide feedback)
- then teach the course
There are exceptions.

UCM/UCCX Training (not for certs)

Is there any self-paced training out there for UCM or UCCX? I'm not looking for certificiation, just something to help our administrators use and manage the products. Intstructor classes are an option, but I'd also like to know about any DVD or web based options?

Hi,
There are training videos you can download from forums which explain how the CallManagers function and how to configure them. Unfortunately these aren't much use without the practical experience to back it up.
I would definately suggest they do CVoice and CIPT courses to get a good grounding in the technology.
UCCX is a little more complicated as you need a bit of experience in scripts. I would wait until they fully understand UCM's before sending them on a training course for UCCX as most of it will be too much to take in.
Personally, I would recommend the following:
1) Download video tutorials + ebooks for reference
2) set up a lab in VMWare for them to play with
3) train them for CVoice and CIPT
4) send them on a UCCX course
The Cisco website is also extremely helpful if you need any installation, upgrade or troubleshooting documents....

Hello Rob,
There are two options when processing the Standard Form SF-182 (Authorization, Agreement, and Certification of Training):
Option 1: Manual routing (off-line) of the Standard Form SF-182 for approvals. After off-line approvals have been obtained, the Course Funding is obligated and Course Maintenance can be performed within SAP. Completed course training is manually uploaded into the Training System of Record (3rd Party System).
Option 2: Create custom workflow to incorporate and store the Standard Form SF-182 approvals in SAP with integration with SAP MM Module for PR/PO funding commitment/obligation. Course Maintenance can be performed within SAP. Create custom Outbound Training Interface to transfer completed training into the Training System of Record (3rd Party System).
The real requirement is to get the completed training into the Training System of Record which both Options above will satisfy.

LMS - Error while booking Attendee for a Course

I am getting a strange error while trying to book employees to a Course (E). When I right click on Participation menu>Select Book> Select any Employee and then click on the 'Book' icon I get the following error -
"USER CANCELED MAINTENANCE;NO CHANGE EXECUTED'.
I am getting this error for any course or any employee. What may be the reason ?

This is due to a missing number range.
Check your configuration under SPRO :
Learning Solution --> Training Management --> Basic Settings -->Number Range Maintenance --> Define Number Range for Course Participation Document

I have to add an item line for a specific sales order( p_vbeln ).
for that i use BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE and it works and the item is inserted.
( p_posnr = sales order item and ln_etnr = schedule_line = 1 )
Now I have to maintain the specific po item line and to insert the Profit Center related to the Purchase Requisition Number that was assigned to the above sales order item like using transaction ME22N.
when i use the transaction all i have to do is to ADD the Purchase requisition number to the PO Order Number and to add the PROFIT CENTER.
for this i use BAPI_PO_CHANGE.
i colect the folowing data:

first the data from poaccount is copied in lt_account.

where the ext_poaccount is the poaccount parameter.
this form:
clears ext_poaccount.
copies the data from lt_account into ext_poaccount.
and returns the ext_poaccount with the empty Profit center field
and so after performing get_current_data my parameter is deleted.
then it's almost the end of the function and nothing else related to the poaccount parameter.
so it's no use for me to insert the field Profit_Center?
is there another FM that i should use to be able to insert the profit center?
what should i do?

Some thoughts on the dearth of training materials for the new MCSE certifications

Mostly this is venting... while it would be nice to see some remediation, I have no such expectations.
Given that Windows Server 2012 was GA 15 months ago, I'm severely disappointed at the lack of published training guides targeted to the MCSA and MCSE certifications (most notably the 70-413 and 70-414), and specifically with respect to the objectives involving
System Center that are included in those examinations.
I used the Exam Ref by Steve Suehring, and frankly was quite disappointed, although I'm not sure whether to blame the book, or the question pool on the exam. What I did observe was that a significant percentage of the concepts discussed in the Exam Ref book,
and ostensibly in the objectives for the exam, were not actually touched at all by the exam. More significantly, I encountered concepts on the exam that were not even mentioned in the Exam Ref. Presumably the Training Guide (700 pages) will go into much more
detail (e.g. the exam I encountered seemed very heavy with respect to Active Directory Site design), but it won't be available until April (at the earliest).
Further, there's nothing available in the realm of preparation materials for the 70-414. The Exam Ref was supposed to be available in September 2013. (The O'Reilly site says March 2014, but the MS Exam Page is not yet updated.) Who knows when it
will really be available, and I don't even see a mention of an actual Training Guide for this exam.
Adding insult to injury, I bought into the special last spring to take the -417, -413, and -414 (which expires tomorrow), and have been unsuccessful at passing the -413 (due to the poor prep materials) and didn't even consider the -414 (due to the non-existent
prep materials). Frankly, I feel very ripped off -- (And if the actual questions on the -413 compared to the Exam Ref are any guide, I'm not particularly encouraged by the eventual availability of the -414 Exam Ref.)
I do see where there's still a discount package available (including 2nd shots) for the MCSE: Server Infrastructure ($255 for both exams plus 2nd shots), available until May 31, 2014-- and expire on December 31, 2014. I think I'll wait until May and see
if [a] the -413 Training Guide gets published and [b] what the "master plan" will be for training for the -414.
Btw.. it seems the prospects are no better for the MCSE: Private Cloud exams either.

For post-production and audio work, having a quieter computer is one of the reasons I ordered a Mac Pro - quieter is good. And as my MDD dual 867Mhz is now as long in the tooth as I am, it couldn't come at a better time. I was really contemplating buying a quad G5 the past 6 months, but then heard the professional desktop would come out during the developer's conference, and I'm glad I waited. The price is absolutely - and insanely - great. Mine should be here on the 15th, and I'll be counting the hours. As for the risers, I'm willing to endure a few nanoseconds as a trade-off.
