CEW and SQL2008

Hello,
Does anybody knows if there is a version/or will be a version of CEW (configuration express wizard) for SAP 2007 and SQL2008 or SAP 8.8
As far as I know the tool works on SAP2007 and SQL2005 but when it runs on a sql2008 I get the following error:
Exception : this database server type is not supported
Thx for the info
Mattias

Hi Mattias and Danilo,
Pls read  this note that informs about the CEW:
CEW (Configuration Express Wizard) Information
Symptom
CEW - Configuration Express Wizard - is producing some errors
Other terms
CEW, Configuration Express Wizard, SBO, Business One, B1, Fast implementation, B1 Add-on, Add-on
Reason and Prerequisites
CEW (Configuration Express Wizard) populates some error messages
Solution
CEW (Configuration Express Wizard) is developed by SAP and shipped to partners via SDN.
The current version is based on 2005ASP01 only. Future versions are in consideration but not realized till now.
There is a huge bunch of information (Webex, PPTs, Source Code, Installation Files, Translation sheet...) for partner's selfstudying provided.
Please notice that the CEW is not supported by SAP support organization!
SDN tools, like CEW, are always able to adapt from partnerside to their own purposes - this is the concept of SDN.

  • Discovering structure and entities in unstructured content

    Hi,
On http://technet.microsoft.com/library/ee667266(v=office.15).aspx it is described that:
For HTML content, redundant generic information such as menus, headers, and footers are classified as such and removed from document summaries in the search results.
We still see menus appearing in the document summeries. Should this menus follow certain (html) rules or ... The same for html headers and footers
Links with more info would also be much appreciated
    adTHANKSvance,
    Jan

Thank you for your answer, Waldek!
I knew that but apparently then the links in the menu section will not be followed and so not indexed. And I want to crawl everything...
Further within our university and associated schools of higher education I cannot force all decentral web servers and web content providers to include <div class="noindex"> in header, footer and menus.  And IIRC noindex should be
    repeated in each nested div...
So I am looking another solution.
I tried to perform data cleansing via a Content Enrichment Web Service. I thought it would be possible to send the raw html data to CEWS but I was not able to alter the data (remove header and footer) and send it back.
    adTHANKSvance,
    Jan
    Hi Jan,
I have checked the content of
http://search.kuleuven.be search center & find that the pages are causing an issue are html pages. To get rid of unwanted html contents follow are the steps.
Custom stage in CEWS and use the REGEX to get the content under <div id=”Content”> tag and put into one custom MP.
Create new display template and result type by copy the OOB template.
Create the result type based on the html page & override the Custom MP with HihiglighedSummary as mentioned in the below blog link.

  • VBScript and SMO

I've have a vbscript that utilizes sql-dmo and accesses sql 2005 and sql2008 r2(with back ward compatability).  I now have a sql 2012 server where this script no longer works.  I've attempted to change the sql-dmo to smo per the documentation,
but am getting an error right from the start.
Set objSqlServer = CreateObject("Microsoft.SQLServer.Management.SMO.Server")  returns "Microsoft VBScript runtime error: ActiveX component can't create object: 'Microsoft.SQLServer.Management.SMO.Server'"
Does this not work using vbscript?  If not, what is my best course of action.
thanks in advance for any help on this.

The easiest way to do this is by installing SQL Server Management Studio, which includes the PowerShell feature and client libraries automatically. You
must install a SQL Server feature that includes the SQL Server PowerShell (SQLPS) module and client libraries. The SQL Server PowerShell (SQLPS) module contains
the PowerShell providers and cmdlets for all SQL Server features.

  • Cannot install Crystal report 2008

    Dear All,
I am trying to instal CR_2008_SP01_for_B1 on my PC. I got a screen said "please wait while the installer finishes determining your disk space requirements" forever. If I hit cancel, it will cancel the installation. So it looks like the installation process is not frozen. It didn't give me any error message as well. I have windows XP and SQL2008. I have SAP8.8 PL16. I have around 10G free space on C drive. That is the only local hard drive I have. Can anybody let me know how to install Crystal? Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Yuka

    Hi Yuka.........
If you are not getting any errors while installation and taking time then I would suggest you let it run else if you cancel in between then it may corrupt dll files which are being created while installation. Because while installation a setup checks all those prerequisites which are required so it generally takes time.

    Hi Sreeni,
You can create a new APS in CMC containing the Data Federation Service with
-Xmx2g -> 8g (This is the suggested range)
Make sure you remove this service from the existing APS and then create a new one.
You could refer SAP KBA 1694041 - BI 4.x Consulting:- How to size the Adaptive Processing
Server (APS) which would assist you in sizing the APS.

  • Windows 2008 R2 server unable to browse UNC shares

    Hi All..
I appreciate if anyone could assist with pointing me in the right direction. I have a 2008 R2 server which operates as our SCCM server. For some reason, in the last few days has lost the ability to browse UNC shares from itself, to any other host on the
network or it's own local shares.
DNS resolution and WINS both are working correctly. The affected server can ping any other host on our network, via IP and host alias or FQDN.
For purposes of trying to rule the problem out, I have tried combinations of disabling all WINS and NetBIOS settings on the server, simply in an attempt to see if the issue was DNS, WINS or NetBIOS related. In all cases, attempting to browse another host
    using the UNC share , i.e. <\\hostname\sharename> or <\\host-ip\sharename>
    Doing a net view \\localhost or net view \\remote-server returns the correct list of shares. When trying to map a drive via net use x: \\remote-server\share I get;
    System error 67 has occurred.
The network name cannot be found.
And when browsing via Windows explorer I get the message
    Error Code: 0x90070043
The network name cannot be found
The same results happen for netbios name, FQDN and IP address.
From the other side, every other host that I've tested can access shares on the the affected server. (I've tested XPSP3, WIN7 64-bit, WIN2003 32-bit, WIN2008 & WIN2008R2 hosts)
I have also tried a "nbtstat -a <remote-hostname>" and "nbtstat -a <remote-host-ip>" and the information returned corresponds with the WINS server details.
I have also tried an "nbtstat -S 2" whlist attempting to open a UNC share, but no corresponding entries appear while attempting to UNC browse.
I should point out that the error notification (of the failure to connect) is instantaneous as if the server isn't even attempting to try going remotely. (i.e. no timeout) Which leads me to thinking there's a configuration setting somewhere that's causing
    this problem??
There are no 3rd party firewalls installed, the windows firewall service is started by default but all the profiles for the firewall are turned off. We have tried setting firewall to on and allow all traffic, but the problem remains. All ports are open inbound
and outbound as I can telnet to ports 139 and 445 of other servers from this server. I have also tried enabling all netbios rules that were disabled on the windows firewall (in order to rule out any potential conflict).
The server was running Sophos 9.7 AV, I have tested completely removing the AV software from the server in order to rule out any potential conflict. This did not resolve the issue.
I have also verified that it's not down to a disabled computer domain account.
The servers are only operating IPv4, and obviously have File and Print services enabled, and client for Microsoft Networks.
The AD domain was upgraded, many weeks prior, from an AD2003 domain to an AD2008, and the server was operating as expected until I discovered that the UNC shares were no longer working on this affected host.
While it is not affecting config manager clients connecting to the server, is has an impact if a SCCM task sequence needs to retrieve data from a UNC share.
As mentioned the server is a 2008 R2 box, it's a virtual machine operating on ESXi 4.1U1. The OS is fully patched and and VMware tools are up to date. The server is a member server of our AD domain. We have many other similarly configured 2008 R2 servers
operating on the same ESXi host; in fact we have 2008R2 hosts acting as SCOM, SCOM RMS and SQL2008 R2 servers. All these servers are operating on the same IP subnet. All of these servers are operating with the same network configuration (with the exception
    of different static IP addresses).
We have tried removing and reinstalling the VMware tools, and removing and reinstalling the Intel NIC, this hasn't made any difference either. I have also tried changing from the Intel NIC to a VMware VMXnet NIC. This has not made a difference.
Any suggestions would be really be greatly appreciated as I've not been able to solve this to date..I will gladly supply any additional info if it can help anyone in the future, should they come across this problem.

-Dropped everything to work on the problem :D

    Hi,
Just giving this thread a bit of a bump on this thread as I'm still trying to figure this one out..
I did resort to restoring from backup, to get my server working, but I'm encountering the issue on another 2008 R2 box, which is not good. So any suggestions you can think of would be appreciated. I think that this issue is more of a network protocol related
nature, rather than application issue.. I'd appreciate if anyone could suggest how to proceed further on this one..
Below are two snippets of wireshark captures, one is between the affected 2008 R2 host & a windows 2003 server, and the second one is between a working 2008 R2 host and the same 2003 server (used in the first example). In the test examples, I am simply
    doing a start -> run; then typing \\2003servername\ and pressing enter. Below is the network traffic between the two hosts, after I hit return;

Again, I can repeat the same test against a 2008 R2 server, and I will get the same output, except the SMB traffic will be SMBV2
It appears to me that the issue is protocol related, as you can see in test#1 between the second-last and the last line of network traffic, it jumps from "STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME" to a TCP/IP [ACK] response. Yet in
test#2 you can see that after line 336 (shown below), you can see it calls "wkssvc", which I'm assuming is the workstation service.. which we don't see at the first (failed) test..

If there's anyone out there that can assit, it really would be much appreciated.

  • ZCM SQL Server connection settings

Our SQL 2005 server is being hammered by our ZCM servers. When there is a SQL cluster failure, the ZCM servers (5 of them) continually try and reconnect to the SQL server.
The SQL admin guy has asked if there is any kind of setting from the ZCM side for the servers to stop trying after a perioid of time or amout of attempts and retry later rather than
continously trying. We have ZCM 10.3 with SQL 2005 and will be moving to ZCM 11 SP2 and SQL2008, but I want to see if this can be resolved now.
Has anybody else experienced this and has a upgrade resolved the issue or any other options.
    Thanks
    Mark

I do not believe such a setting exists.
However, if the Database is down, I would recommend stopping the ZCM
services on your primaries, which would do the same thing.
Shutting down the ZCM services, will stop Clients from trying to talk to
the servers, which will in essence be broken at this time.

  • Migraton from EIS to Essbase Studio

    Hi All,
We try to migrate the existing EIS (32 bits setup) into Essbase Studio (64 bits) environment.
The old EIS and SQL2000 are both installed on separate servers.
In the new environment we have a seperate server for Studio and SQL2008.
How to use the migration function ?
I have create an ODBC on the Studio-server with a connection to the SQL2000 server.
When I start the EIS catalog Migration, fill in the EIS Catalog ODCC DSN with the just created ODBC-name.
Then press the Fetch Models button and the message: No models could be fetched for the catalog etc.
What's going wrong. Your reaction is much appriciated !!
    Regards,
    Ed

    Thanks Glenn,
that gives me a better approach for my solution.
As metadata/data loading to the Planning application (workforce) will be part of an integration process we could then:
    1. Load new Metadata to the Planning application
    2. Refresh the planning databases
    3. Run a MAXL Script to redeploy the Essbase-Studio cube (which is actually the Planning cube)
    4. Load aggregated data to Essbase cube
    5. Load detailed data to relational table in Essbase Studio.
now the cube is deployed with Essbase Studio so drill through should work as expected.
The integration process will be created in ODI so ODi will be responsible of loading metadata and data, and also executing the MAXL script for cube re-deployment
Do you think we are missing something in the macro steps above?

  • General License Question on change of hardware platform?

Suppose a customer is running their current non SAP B1 system under MS Server 2003, but they also are trying to go-live with SAP B1 on the same server with SQL 2005. So now they have license keys for SAP B1 with MS SQL 2005 under MS Server 2003.
Suppose they decide, it is best to upgrade to SQL Server 2008 R2. They purchase a new server for 2008R2 (as they do not want to upgrade 2003 to 2008 as it is running legacy applications).
My question is, we will have to create them new keys for SAP B1 under server 2008R2 and SQL2008 R2. Does SAP allow this and is it considered as the same number of seats as the originally purchased?
    Thanks.

    Hi Syed,
Yes, you will have to get a new license key for the SQL 2008 configuration.
The Hardware Key plays the role in the license key setup.  If you change your SQL Server the HW key changes. You will not need to worry  as you can get a  new license key for the SQL 08 setup holding  the same number of license seats as per your previous license did. By requesting a  change in license > system details to SAP for the customer by entering the New HW Key a New license will be generated with the same licenses seats as before but with the New HW key .
    Hope your issue is resolved.

  • Upgrade + migration from nw04 on windows 2000 to nw04s on windows 2008

    Dear all,
I need to upgrade and migrate my nw04 java system from windows 2000 to nw04s on windows 2008.
From the PAM I can see that NW04 is not supported on windows 2008 and that nw04s (7.0) is not supported on windows 2000.
So, which is the correct upgrade path? Do I need an intermediate win 2003 server which is supported from both the releases?
    Thanks and regards in advance
    Federico

    Hello my friend
This will be a very interesting project for sure. As you know, kernel 640 is not supported on win2008 and 700 is not supported on win2000, so here there must be a win2003 as a transition platform for this upgrade+ migration, not to mention migration from 32bit to x64 is also involved. You didn't mention the DB versions in source and target systems, as well as the SAP product you're trying to go with. Here's a brief checklist right now for what I can think of, once you're back with more details then let's make it intact:
    I assume your source OS/DB is win2000SQL2000 32bit, target one is win2008SQL2008 x64.
    1. Install a win2003 x64 server and SQL2000 32bit;
    2. Install a new SAP instance same as your source system release in 32bit compatible mode;
note: if the system being migrated is BW, then be aware of that you might want to bring new features in SQL2008 of row compression and table partitions.
    3. Detach the source DB from old SQL2000, and attach it to new SQL2000; some post configuration for DB copy will be required (STM tool). Now you've finish a migration from win2000 to win2003 32bit;
    4. Start upgrading NW04 to 7.0, 640 to 700, find details in upgrade guide; Now you have your 700 instance on win2003 x64+SQL2000 32bit;
note: since release 701(700 EHP1) is available now, which you might want to upgrade instead of 700.
    5. Change the collation 850BIN2 for SQL2000 32bit, detach DB;
    6. Since migration from 32bit to x64 cannot be done smoothly, now you have to uninstall everything and reinstall win2003 and SQL2008 x64, followed by a new 700 or 701 instance;
    7. Attach the source DB, post configuration for DB copy will be required (STM tool); Now you have your 700 or 701 instance on win2003 x64+SQL2008 x64;
    8. Detach the SQL2008 DB;
    9. Now go to your target win2008 OS, install SQL 2008 x64 and new 700 or 701 instance;
note: there might be some restrictions for NW 7.0 on win2008, go with the latest release (SR3 or newer).
    10. Attach DB to this final OS/DB version: win2008 x64+SQL2008 x64, post configuration for DB copy will be required (STM tool).
    Helpful?

  • Few questions about sql2008 functions and commands

    hello,
I am learning sql2008 implementation and maintenance,I am just 2 weeks bussy.there is some questions in my mind wich I can't answer it.
1-when I can use  USE MASTER statement
2-can a database for example (test) have many and unlimmited file groups?
3-what is the diferrence between file and filegroup! is the term of file means  tables in filegroup?
4-with boundary points does mean the data type when creating partition function!
5`what is diferrence between full text index and index, where you have to use the index and wher you have to use full text index?
6-each filegroup must have one partition or one partition can have many filegroups in partition scheme!
7-do you have to partition every scheme or not! where do you have to partition a scheme and where not?
8-can you give a little example with switch operator!
9-again do you have to partition every table and index in the real world or not!
    thanks
    johan
    h.david

    Hi,
Let me try to answer your questions:
You need to use USE MASTER whenever you need to do some work in the MASTER database and the database context is not that.
Yes, a database can have many filegroups. Please check this article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179316.aspx
    Please check this article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179316.aspx
    As per BOL:
boundary_value is a constant expression that can reference variables. This includes user-defined type variables, or functions and user-defined functions. It cannot reference Transact-SQL expressions.
boundary_value must either match or be implicitly convertible to the data type supplied in
input_parameter_type, and cannot be truncated during implicit conversion in a way that the size and scale of the value does not match that of its corresponding
    input_parameter_type. For more details check
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187802.aspx
For simplicity: Full-Text index is used to search in a LOB/text data in a column, index is used to speed up your queries. Please check these articles:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms142571.aspx,
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189271.aspx
As per BOL: When you create a partition scheme, you define the filegroups where the table partitions are mapped, based on the parameters of the partition function. You must specify enough filegroups to hold the number of partitions. You can specify that
all partitions map to a different filegroup, that some partitions map to a single filegroup, or that all partitions map to a single filegroup. You can also specify additional, "unassigned" filegroups in the event you want to add more partitions later. For
    more info, please check
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188730.aspx
    8. Please read the concept of partitioning here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190199.aspx and for SWITCH operator, please check the sliding window example at here:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa964122(SQL.90).aspx
    9. It depends :) but you always will have at least 1 partition!
    I hope it helps.

  • BO XI3.1, MS-SQL2008 and Stored Procedure

    Hi Experts,
    A) Could you tell me how can I use Stored Procedures (SP) from MS-SQL 2008 in the BO XI 3.1 Universe?
I can make SP Universe in the Designer, but when I would like to use it, I can not see any objects, just the classes in the Universe.
I would like to use SP for writing back data into the database using QaaWS of BO. SP input parameters have to be stored in the database.
    B) Is there some other option how to write data into the database using the QaaWS of BO?
    János

    Hello  Janos,
I recommend to post this query to the [Universe Designer and Business Views Designer|Semantic Layer; forum.
This forum is dedicated to topics related to the universes and business views.
It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all Enterprise Information Management queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
    Thanks a lot,

  • What's the best way to create sub-totals & grand-total in SQL2008 R2 (and beyond)?

What is the easiest way to get sub totals and a grand total on data that is being grouped?  It looks like RollUp might work, but it's being depreciated.
    My query is:
    SELECT
    COMPANY
    ,INVSTR_CD
    ,STATE_C
    ,SUM(CO_SHARE_TOTBAL) as CO_SHARE_TOTBAL
    FROM #ASSET AS A
    WHERE A.D_GETIT = 'Y'
    GROUP BY COMPANY, STATE_C, INVSTR_CD
    ORDER BY COMPANY, INVSTR_CD, STATE_C
I need to provide a sub-total of the SUM'd field (SUM(CO_SHARE_TOTBAL) as CO_SHARE_TOTBAL), at the change of the COMPANY field.
Then a Grand Total of all the SUM'd fields (SUM(CO_SHARE_TOTBAL).
    Thanks in advance!!

If you post DDL of your table (only relevant columns) and some data and desired output, I may try to reproduce it. Did you check Jacob's blog post and the very last query? It does take a few trials before getting this correct.
    Naomi,
I did try the last query on Jacob's post.  I couldn't get the first column to populate.
Thanks for the offer of help.
    DML is:
    Create Table #ASSET2 (
    [COMPANY] [varchar] (5) NULL
    ,[INVSTR_CD] [varchar](5) NULL
    ,[STATE_C] [char](2) NULL
    ,[SHARE_TOTBAL] [decimal] (15,2) NULL)
    Data is:
    Insert into #ASSET2 VALUES ('00000','099 ','FL','115226.77')
    Insert into #ASSET2 VALUES ('22222','030 ','CA','309899.43')
    Insert into #ASSET2 VALUES ('00000','010 ','CA','524296.89')
    Insert into #ASSET2 VALUES ('00000','099 ','IL','51699.70')

    Insert into #ASSET2 VALUES ('00000','099 ','NY','278489.10')
Desired results would be the following:

  • Preview and print a Crystal report prompted for the sa password

    Dear All,
Our customer has Crystal report add-on to be installed. When we Preview and print a Crystal report, we got a window prompted for the sa password. Even we type in a correct password, it still says wrong password...
Every time when I open my report in Crystal Basic 2008 on the server, then go database expert >> My connections >> click + in front of the connection name, it asks my sa password. I type in my password then save and close. Next time when I open the report and go my connections, I have to type in my password again. This only happens on one customer.
    Any idea? Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Yuka

    Hi Yuka,
    1) All their SAP client workstation, they have to have use SQL2008 CD and install SQL Client on it
Correct, MS does NOT support MDAC or WDAC when connecting to SQL 2008.
    2) Then go ODBC >> SQL Native Client 10.0 >> Create a new connection to SAP server. Should we use sa user or another use that has the same authorization as sa?
Correct again if they are also using ODBC to connect, as for using the sa account or creating a new one is up to you. I suggest creating a Crystal account with what ever rights your app needs, this way if tracing it turned on etc. you can confirm who is actually running the report.
    3) Then from MY Crystal report, I have to use ODBC connection as well?
Just to clarify, if you created your reprots using OLE DB then they can do so also. But you need to update your connection properties. Open each report click on Database, Set Location, scroll down to OLE DB and expand and then choose MS SQL Server Native 10 as your OLE DB provider, fill in all the logon info and then verify the database. Do the same for each subreport also.
Save your report and either send them the new one or if you are doing this remotely then replace the original report.
VERIFY your reports to confirm they still return correct data and do work as expected.
Or if you are using ODBC then yes you do select the MS 10 driver with a new DSN. Then do the above to update the reports to all use ODBC as their data sources.
Hope this is all clear now....
    Thanks again
    Don
