CF Enterprise vs Standard when used to host CF sites

Hi,
Can anyone tell me the merits of having my site hosted at a
host who uses the enterprise version as opposed to the standard
version?
I am looking for a host for my CF site - developed for cfmx7,
i have narrowed it down to 2 hosts but one is much more expensive
than the other - they site the fact that they have enterprise
edition as being a big security advantage over the standard - is
this true?
I can see that a couple of tags are disabled (CFCOLLECTION,
CFEXECUTE, CFLOG, CFREGISTRY, CFSCHEDULE) but i think these would
normally be disabled by most hosts (it's shared hosting) just for
server security, so i'm wondering what other advantages
(security/performance) there would be in using enterprise?
I'm in the uk and looking for a uk datacentred host - the two
i have narrowed it down to are :
http://www.firstserv.co.uk
and
http://www.cwcs.co.uk - has anyone
any comments on either of these?
Many thanks!
Jim

Not really--if there are JDBC drivers for these databases
you'll be
fine. We're on all CF Enterprise now, but I've used Oracle's
JDBC
driver with CF 7 Standard without any trouble. You just have
to
configure the database as "other" and point to the JDBC
drivers.

  • Getting rid of "Warning:  JavaScript Window" when using xfa.host.response()

When I use xfa.host.response() I get that javascript warning. Is there a way to get rid of it?
    Thanks.

The only way I know of to get rid of this warning is to Certify the document. Once the document has been certified, any javascript interaction either through the Dialog Manager or xfa.host.response will not have the warning.
However, The only way to certify the document is to use Document Security Server or manually through Acrobat by adding a blank signature.
I also dont know if this will work with Dynamic forms without breaking the certification. It worked in Static / Acrobat 6 compatible PDF's.
Any scripting or dynamic rebuild of the form will break the certification and the message comes back.
So basically, stick with the warning for now or else you need to make sure you revalidate the signature after EVERY piece of script using the signatureValidate() method of the AcroForm Field.

  • Problem getting db connection when using virtual hosts / tomcat / apache

    Hello,
I have servlets that use a connection pool to query an oracle database. When running Tomcat 5.5 stand-alone, everything works fine. But the same servlets do not work when running them on a server tomcat and apache integrated with jk and using virtual hosts. The problem is the connection pool, because servlets not using the pool also work fine.
Does anybody have any idea why this is happening?
    Thank you.
    Logan

    Hi Saish,
    Thank you for helping.
Try connecting with the machinen's IP, if this is a viable strategy for you (meaning the database IP is not dynamically assigned).I'm not sure how to do this. Here is a copy of my context.xml:
    <Context path="" docBase="" debug="0">
    <Resource name="jdbc/CraigsList" auth="Container"
    type="javax.sql.DataSource" username="craigslist" password="xxxxxx"
    driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
    url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:GRI"
    maxActive="8" maxIdle="4"/>
    </Context>
    Does this help?
    Thanks.

  • CFMX8 - Enterprise OR Standard to use DataDirect JDBC drivers?

Simple question here, I hope? I am migrating an application
to CFMX8. This app connects to Informix. The best performance I've
seen so far to do so is using DataDirect's JDBC driver. What I know
is that DataDirect created a JDBC driver that ships with CFMX. What
I don't know is why it
seems CF somehow restricts access to that driver to
Enterprise edition?!? Below are steps I have done.
    Using tech note
    shown
here I did install the updated Macromedia drivers and created a
DSN to the Informix database, but upon trying to save the DSN
    details, an error appeared stating:
    quote:
java.sql.SQLException: Use of Macromedia JDBC Drivers is
restricted. Drivers can only be used with Macromedia server
products. Please check that your license supports the requested
    driver.
This is pretty vague! Can anyone confirm that this is ONLY a
Standard Ed. vs. Enterprise Ed. issue? Or is something else the
    matter?

The Macromedia drivers are not available in standard edition
of ColdFusion. They are availbale in enterprise and developer
    edition of ColdFusion.

  • Windows 7 VM has DNS Problem When Using Wireless

    Hello All,
I've been fighting this virtual machine networking problem for over a week now. If anyone has a well-informed suggestion (not a guess) I would appreciate hearing about it.
Here's the problem in a nutshell and then I'll give more details: I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) as my primary (i.e., host) OS. I'm running Windows 7 Home Professional (32 bit) as the guest OS in "Windows Virtual PC" (note that this is *not* the same as "Virtual PC 2007"). If I configure the VM to use my host's wired Ethernet connection, the guest OS can always see the machines on my local network and can always reach the Internet just fine. On the other hand, if I configure the VM to use only my host's wireless connection then the guest OS can still see machines on my local network but CANNOT reach the Internet, except very intermittently (e.g., for maybe 1-2 minutes every hour or so).
I've tried to anticipate the questions you might ask so here is some additional information:
The computer is a Lenovo W500 laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit. The wireless network adapter is an "Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN".
My Internet connection is via AT&T DSL using a wire2 wireless modem/router.
I have all the updates from Microsoft and Lenovo for this machine. It is 100% up to date with the latest patches and drivers.
I'm running the 64-bit version (or at least I used the 64 bit installer) of "Windows Virtual PC" which I downloaded  from this link.
I am *not* running and I did not download "XP Mode".
When the guest OS loses it's connection to the Internet the following message appears in the Windows Event Log:
"Name resolution for the name address.yahoo.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded."
I am able to ping an external machines outside my network but only if I use the IP address. If I specify the host name it cannot be resolved.
ARE YOU GETTING THE IMPRRESSION THIS IS A DNS PROBLEM??? It looks like I do not have access to a DNS when using the host's wireless connection.
On the host OS, the "Virtual PC Network Filter Driver" *IS* installed and selected under my "Wireless Network Connection Properties" settings.
Below are the results of running ipconfig on the guest OS and then the host OS. Note that I am able to ping 192.168.1.254 from the host OS but not from the guest OS. I think this is the crux of the problem.
Here's what I get from an ipconfig /all executed on the guest OS:

    Hello,
I am not very familiar wth Microsoft Security Essentials, but believe that it just makes use of the existing Windows Firewall which is present with the operating system.
To me it is odd that the guest OS reports 192.168.1.254 as the IP address for its gateway and DHCP server yet it cannot access them when pinged.  Let's try pinging from host to guest (and vice-versa)  and see what happens:
From the host OS at 192.168.1.78, try pinging the guest OS at 192.168.1.75.
Then, from the guest OS at 192.168.1.75, trying ping the host OS at 192.168.1.78.
Is each operating system able to ping each other?

I have non-host header web application at port 80:http://wwwserver
It is AAM to https://wwwserver in same zone.
Now when i create host named site collection using http it works fine
    New-SPSite http://hostheader.site.com/ -OwnerAlias domain\username -HostHeaderWebApplication http://wwwserver -Template "STS#0"
    But when i do
New-SPSite https://hostheader.site.com/ -OwnerAlias domain\username -HostHeaderWebApplication https ://wwwserver -Template "STS#0" i get error Warning: The port specified for the new host header site does not match any known bindings in the specified
web appplication . The new site will not be accessible if the web application is not extended to an IIS web site serving this port.
Now when i try to extend web application on port 443 it says it is already used by sharepoint. I do not want to screw aam since all my app store urls are configured through https://wwwserver. Any way to achieve https in host named site collection?

    Hi Sachin,
Powershell New-SPSite is specifically looking for a web application that responds to
http://www, not http://www. I don't think AAM applies for web applications, only for the URLs that the web application responds too.

  • Rendering Error when using more than one DataSheetView on a Enterprise Wiki-Page

    Hi Experts,
    how to reproduce:
Add two Custom Lists with some Fields (Add Lookup-Columns to both Lists).
Add a DataSheetView to each List and mark it as Default-View
    Create a Enterprise Wiki-Page
    Add a WebPart (Custom-List-1)
You will see the Content from List 1 as DataSheet-View (because it is the Default-View)
Add another WebPart below the previous added WebPart (Custom-List-2)
You will see the Content from List 2 as DataSheet-View (because it is the Default-View)
Notice that the First DataSheet has faulty Rendering. The Lookup-Columns having more than one 'Arror-Down' Image and it is even on the left. If you click into different Column, different row you get the same.
I can reproduce this behaviour anytime.
    Environment: SharePoint 2013 Enterprise, IE10
If you use Development-Tools to identify first datarow of first DataSheet you can see that it has to do something with the related <Input>-Tags:
    <div class="combobox-placeholder" id="jsgrid_combobox" style="left: 27px; top: 32px; width: 117px; height: 29px; border-top-color: currentColor; border-right-color: currentColor; border-bottom-color: currentColor; border-left-color:
    currentColor; border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; visibility: inherit; ; direction: ltr; min-width:
    117px; background-color: transparent;">
    <input class="cb-textbox " style="width: 156px; height: 25px;" dir="ltr" type="text"/><input tabindex="-1" title="Dropdown" class="combobox-img" style="height: 29px;"
    dir="ltr" type="button" value="▼"/><input class="cb-textbox " style="width: 84px; height: 25px;" dir="ltr" type="text"/><input tabindex="-1" title="Dropdown"
    class="combobox-img" style="height: 29px;" dir="ltr" type="button" value="▼"/>
Please have a look into it. Current Workaround for me is to have a Default-ListView in first WebPart. But then Customer has to click the Edit-Button to Change the Item in the releated EditForm. This is a Show-Stopper here!
    With Best Regards,
    Ronny

    Hi Ronny,
According to your description, the lookup column would render incorrectly when adding more than one datasheet view in the Enterprise Wiki page.
I tested the same scenario per your post, and I got the same results as you got.
We will help to submit the issue to proper pipeline for you.
Again, thank you for your report which will definitely make SharePoint a better products. There might be some time delay.
    Appreciate your time and patience.
    Best regards.

  • Enterprise DNS servers are not responding when using Windows NLB with Direct Access 2012

    Hi
We have installed Direct Access 2012 as one server installation:
    - Two network cards. First one in DMZ and second one in internal network
    - Two consecutive IP addresses configured in DMZ because of Teredo
    - PKI because of Win7 Clients IPSec
    - Our corporate network is native IPv4 so we use DNS64/NAT64 and DA-server is configured as DNS
    - DA-servers are VMWare virtual machines
One server installation works fine and now we want to use Windows NLB as load balancing. NLB installation goes fine too,
but problem is DNS. If we still try to use DA-server as DNS there comes error message below
None of the enterprise DNS servers 2002:xxxx:xxxx:3333::1 used by DirectAccess clients for name resolution are responding. This might affect DirectAccess client connectivity to corporate resources.
When trying to configure DNS using Infrastructure access setup, DNS cannot be validated when using DA-servers DIP or cluster VIP. Only domain local DNS looks to be ok but those have no IPv6 addressess. So how DNS should be configured when using multicast
    NLB?
Tried to remove name suffix then adding again => Detect DNS server => DA-server IPv6 address found => validate => The specified DNS server is not responding...
Then tried to ping detected address => General failure
NLB clusters are configured as multicast and static ARPs are configured too. Both clusters can be connected from those subnets as they should be.
Any clues how to fix this?

When using Firefox I cannot obtain Gmail in Standard View, only in HTML. It's OK in Chrome.
How do I correct this? Firefox is my default browser.

That is usually an indication that some JavaScript aren't working properly on the Gmail site.

  • Why does Adobe 9 standard crash when using the digital signature

When using the digital signature in Adobe 9 standard it crashes, it has been repaired, uninstalled and reinstalled and still crashes when putting in the digital signature and not understanding why. Also the digital signature was redone. Your thoughts on this would be most helpful.

I had the same problems and was VERY frustrated.
I finally solved my problem by uninstalling reader 9.1, air, acrobat.com and THEN after a restart, installing a lite version of reader 9.1 from this site:
    Good Luck!
