CF MX7 Hangs On Install

I recently had to upgrade hardware/software/other bits on my
local development box. I had been using Win2K (& IIS) with CF
MX7 Developer edition. Since the upgrade I am now using WinXP. I
have tried loading 7.01 & 7.02 (both developer edition) to no
avail. It keeps hanging at "Creating CF Directory Structure".
Adobe's website and CS suck. There seems to be no where for me to
ask anyone what the problem is, so I lay my problem at the feet of
those here. Maybe some kind hearted soul can explain what I need to
do to get this stupid thing to install. I'm having to load it to
fix a broken CF site I created a few years ago, and personally,at
this point, CF is becoming WAY too much of a headache to
administer. I'm ready to swap to something more widely used, like
ASP, or plain old HTML. Any help out there?

>Are you logged in as a local administrator when you try
the installs?
I'm assuming so. It's my box. I did the OS install, I've
installed
everything else on this box with no problems.
>It might be an idea to temporarily disable your AV and
firewall (firewall
>shouldn't matter, but... I've found sometimes it does...
ZoneAlarm, for
>one, can get in the road of this sort of thing).
Had already considered that. At the moment I'm flying without
any AV (yes,
insane, I know) because the AV and email were argueing. CF
install has
been tried under both conditions: with AV, without AV. Same
hang.
>I've had similar problems to this before when the install
file was corrupt,
>but this is unlikely to be your problem if you've tried
both 7.0.1 and
>7.0.2. Are you certain you've tried both?
File names say 7.01 & 7.02. Also, according to the
website, the file
sizes are correct.
>Are you installing the software to anything other than
the default
>directory? What sort of install are you running: the
standard flavour
>or multi-server?
This is as plain vanilla an install as you can get. Developer
version on a
single box. No networking, no multi-anything except drives.
>Is your Windows XP install completely up to date,
patch-wise? I've also had
>a couple of problems in the past with some bung security
patches (since
>fixed by patches to the patches...).
Not a big fan of MS patches unless they are absolutely
necessary. They usually
cause more problems than they solve. What's the least I could
get by with,
do you suppose?
>What other significant software is installed on the
machine?
Not really anything. It's a home developer box, so has email
and word processors,
and a couple graphics programs. Nothing that I haven't had
cohabitating with
CF before and nothing that should upset a CF install. Really,
it's a small box
and a very plain install.
>I think the CF install maintains an install log as it
runs (sorry to sound
>vague... I've not needed to check this sort of thing for
a year or two)?
>It might be worth eyeballing that for some clues.
I can't find an "install" log, but there is a log that must
be from a previous
install (implying it's not doing a complete uninstall) that
seems very upset that

No, I agree, I've never had a problem with it before, and
I've been using it
since around 2001. But the past 18 months I have had nothing
but trouble
with CF, it's maintenance, and now this install. It's really
becoming too
much overhead to deal with. I'm sure it's just that there's a
bit flipped
somewhere in the XP IIS stuff, but I don't do this often
enough to say,
"oh, of course!, There!" I didn't want to go to XP, but had
no choice.
Hopefully, this time next year I'll be using Linux. One of
the main reasons
I haven't moved yet was CF was slow to get a Linux version.
Now that there
is, I hope to get to try it out. Eventually.
Thanks for the help. I'll look at removing all CF bits, see
what patches are
out, and try again.

  • Adobe AIR installation issue - hangs at "Installing..."

    Hello everyone!
I know questions similar to this have been asked many times before, but I did not manage to find the solution to my problem after a few hours of reading and trying the various 'solutions' around the net and this forum. I apologise if I missed it.
I cannot seem to install Adobe AIR. I run a freshly downloaded installation executable, but it hangs at "Installing..." and 0% progress for a very, very, very long time, if I let it. This last try has been going for 45 minutes as I write. The only way to get out of the installer is through Task Manager and killing the service, as hitting 'Cancel' just makes the installer attempt to cancel endlessly.
    I tried installing it in safe mode but there it gives an error saying I may not have administrative permissions (which I do have);
    I created a new user account;
    I "run as Administrator" and am using an account with administrative rights;
    I tried it through the command line with putting the file in c:\ and running "AdobeAIRInstaller.exe -silent" without quotes from c:\;
    I have shut off all my antivirus software;
    I tried downloading it with a different browser;
    I tried using the MicrosoftFixit.ProgramInstallUninstall, and took Adobe AIR off the list;
I tried uninstalling all Adobe products and then reinstalling them, with Adobe AIR last
... and some more things, but none of this has helped. Here's what the installation log generates when it hangs:
[2012-12-25:01:16:36] Runtime Installer begin with version 3.5.0.880 on Windows 7 x86

I would much appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me regarding this! This is starting to drive me nuts.
    Thank you.
( also, this is my first post, so please forgive if I've done anything wrong or not according to etiquette! )

Ok, I understand.  So before we continue, we really need to figure out what the exact error is.  Can you, on at least 2 systems, generate the MSI logs we'll need?  Here's a document that explains how to enable logging and where to find the logs once they've been created:
    How to enable Windows logging
Once you've enabled logging, try installing again.  Grab the newly created msi logs and either post here or email me at [email protected]  I'll examine the logs and see if we can find a common issue between the systems.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • 64 bit OEL install hangs at installing dogtail in OVM 2.2

I recently upgraded my server to OVM 2.2 and swapped out the dual core AMDs to quad core AMDs at the same time.
Since then I have been unable to create any 64 bit OEL servers. In every instance the install hangs when Installing dogtail-0.6.1-2.el5.noarch
This used to work at 2.1.5 and I can deploy the existing templates, but they are OEL 5.3.

    2 new updates
    1) I get the same errors when trying a command line install

  • Hang while installing OS X Mavericks

Hi, my MacBook Air is currently hanging while installing OS X Mavericks. I got stuck after the installer asked me about my iCloud account, which I forgot, so I clicked 'Forgot Password'. It's been showing a gray loading screen ever since. I tried to restart it a couple of times but it won't, and my laptop won't even shut down. I close my computer and then the startup comes up again, I put in password, but it's the same gray loading screen.
I'd like to reload the installation, or at least get to access my computer files. What do I do? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Nevermind! It managed to shut down after a while. Whew!

  • Tecra S1 Hangs when installing XP

    Hi,
I have a weird problem. My Tecra S1 'hangs' when installing a 'normal' Windows XP Pro (instead of using the 'image DVD). The installation works fine up till the last 9 minutes...then it 'hangs', and the laptop stops working. Only possible solution is then to take out the battery & cut the power. Had a (1 time) similar problem of 'hanging' when using the image DVD
Somebody who had this before ???
Thanks a lot for all your hints & tips...

    Hej guys,
Thanks a lot for the suggestions, and indeed, I also tried other CD's of XP pro...all with the same result. At the last 9 seconds it hangs & the only thing I can do is take out the battery. Last thing I tried was installing a Win2000 pro & that works fine. Then I tried to upgrade that version, but again...it stopped at the last 9 seconds.... :-((, so perhaps indeed I have to look in the direction of the memory problem ???

  • Installing ad-hoc application hangs on installing

I have developed an iPad application, and added a friend to my provisioning profile and rebuilt my application.  I then sent him the .ipa and he has dropped it into his itunes application, and he can see the icon on his home screen but it just hangs on "installing".
Any ideas?  Also, he said that the icon doesn't show in his iTunes but it does show in the organizer when i archived the application.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Plenty of info being generated there.  Also, I offloaded my app launch setup code to a separate method call and now TestFlight registers the launch too.
Apparently a nib is having problems loading... loads no problem when I run it from xcode!
Ther pertinent message: <Error>: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Could not load NIB in bundle: 'NSBundle </var/mobile/Applications/64836972-248C-470C-91D3-3F4D76F1621B/r Evolution 2012.app> (loaded)' with name 'RootViewController''
At least I now exactly where to look now, thanks!

  • LOB apps hanging on install from Company Portal

    Hi,
We're having issues with LOB (.appx) app installs from the Company Portal.  We're strictly using Intune for LOB app deployment to Win8.1 Enterprise devices.  When users attempt to install a LOB app, it just hangs at installing.  We've tried
stopping the Intune service, rebooting, even quitting the Company Portal app, but nothing will either kickstart the install or stop it so they can try again.
If there are multiple requests for the same app via the Company Portal (say 100-200) at around the same time, will the installs be done on a staggered basis, and it's just a matter of timing?
    I appreciate any insight here.

As you seem not to have an answer for this. From my experience with Windows devices, if an app hangs on install, it has failed but not realised it. It may be something like a config file where it does not understand or is unable to process what to do and
is unable to skip the step.
I would normally suggest a local test as admin but cannot advise with appx unfortunately.
    Hope that helps.

  • Multiple Safari hangs after installing Snow Leopard

I had 5 Safari hangs today within hours...never had one since I bought the machine in June 2009 with Leopard installed...Since the SL upgrade CD, I have had 2 system freezes that result in a complete shutdown to clear and multiple Safari hangs that I able to recover with a force quit..My daughter in college with the same machine reported that she had 3 system freezes in one day since SL...My wife who did NOT yet install the SL upgrade and is now blissfully having no problems at all and does not want to install the new OS (again same machine type, We bought 3of them in June after the announcement). I hope that this gets debugged and fixes provided...

    Hi,
Mac OS X 10.5: What you can do if Safari quits unexpectedly
That links is for 10.5 but the trouble shooting will work in 10.6 also.
    For system freezes try maintenance.
    Maintaining Mac OS X
On the Macs you upgraded to SL, did you check to see if you had 3rd party software installed that might not be compatible? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3258
Did you repair permissions after the upgrade?
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • K8N Neo2-F hangs when installing Windows XP Pro

Hello, I've recently been trying to put together my first build, and I haven't had too much luck thus far.
My problem occurs when trying to clean install Windows XP Pro on my hard drives. Using either of my HDDs results in the Windows setup screen coming up, loading all the drivers, and then crapping out right before it lets me add/delete partitions. It hangs right before there, and provides me with a STOP 0x000007 BSOD error. I've tried with both my SATA and my IDE drives, and nothing seems to work. The IDE drive works fine on my old motherboard (Non SATA compatible, so I can't even test the SATA drive on it), and lets me partition the drive, so it's not the HD, and it's not the CD. The processor, mobo, SATA HD and the RAM are all new.
I've followed the guide that fafner and syar2003 have provided here, and have come up with nothing. (I only tried the first method, not the second one further down the thread).
Is there a BIOS setting that I'm missing, or what?
    Thanks in advance.

Amps on the power supply are:
    +3.3: 32A
    +5: 40A
    +12: 24A
I've tried installing windows with just the SATA drive, just the IDE, and both. I've now tried installing Windows using syar2003's advice in aforementioned thread, saw this link and tried setting the max memclock to 166Mhz, with 1 stick, or 2. Had the timings set to auto though. No dice.
No matter what, after it says "Setup is now starting Windows", it hangs, and after about 5 minutes, this BSOD comes up.

  • IPrint client 5.92 Hangs on install for Windows 8.1

We are trying to implement windows 8.1 into our tablet environment. while setting up printing to the client devices i'm running into deployment issues with the iPrint client 5.90 and 5.92, both seem to hang on the spooler update portion of the install, and are unable to recover. I have had one finish with an error stating that the spooler service did not respond in a timely manner to the startup command. however even after manually starting the spooler service the client was not installed. Any Help or hints would be most appreciated.

Those server-side fixes for OES11 SP1 to support Windows 8.1 (and
OS X Mavericks) are now available via the patch channel and to
    download[1] .
Note iPrint Client for Windows 5.94[2] and for Mac 5.74[3] are now
    also available for download.

    Basis Guy,
I followed your instructions, and the problem still exist.  Per note 908911, I added "SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATION" role to the SAPJSF user in the backend ABAP system.  I've tried starting and stopping
the System through SAP MMC, and I see the following (solman is our hostname):
solman 0 - The AS ABAP work processes start sucessfully,  the AS Java processes, show three processes, with two in the stopped state:
    1) SDM - state is stopped
    2) Dispatcher - state is running
    3) server0 - state is stopped, with a return code of -11113
    solman 1 - shows 2 processes
    1) Msg Server - running
    2) Enqueue Server - running
From SAP MMC, I look at the Developer trace for the 2 stopped processes (SDM and server0).  This brings up the dev_server0 log, and the dev_sdm log.  In both files, I see the following error:
[Thr 3712] JStartupICheckFrameworkPackage: can't find framework package C:\usr\sap\MES\DVEBMGS00\exe\jvmx.jar
When I look for this file, it does not exist.  Is this my problem, and where does this file come from during the install?
From the Syslog of SAP MMC, I see three errors when starting the system, in this order:
Process Type: DP Message ID: GZZ
SAP-Basis System: > 1 possible network problems detected - check tracefile and adjus
Process Type: RD Message ID: Q01
SAP-Basis System: Operating system call           recv failed (error no. 10054)
Process Type: D0  Message ID:  R49  User: SAPJSF Client: 001
SAP-Basis System: Communication error, CPIC return code 020, SAP return code 223
Also, I see the following error in the defaulTtrace.0.trc file:
    #com.sap.security.core.server.secstorefs.FileIOException: I/O error on file "
    solman
    sapmnt
    MES
    SYS
    global
    security
    data
    SecStore.properties".
    java.io.FileNotFoundException:
    solman
    sapmnt
    MES
    SYS
    global
    security
    data
SecStore.properties (The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open)
However, I see that this file does exist, but what does it mean "a user-mapped section is open"?
As for the configtool, Global Server Configuration, when I look for all instances of J2EE_GUEST or SAPJSF, only two parameters show up:
    ume.login.guest_user.uniqueids = J2EE_GUEST
    ume.r3.connection.master.user = SAPJSF
Looking in the ABAP System (via SU01), I see that J2EE_GUEST shows password deactivated.  Is this correct?
    Please advise.

    Sunny,
Not sure what you mean by update the latest logs from sapinst.log.   I've displayed the sapinst.log in the original post.  I may just be misunderstanding your request.
Let me know if there is more info that you need.

  • Bootcamp hangs when installing Windows 7 on Macbook Air

I purchased a new Macbook air less than 1 month ago. 256GB SSD drive, maximum RAM. It's running OS X Lion (10.7.1). I plugged in a USB DVD drive, keyboard, and mouse.
When trying to install Windows 7 64-bit Bootcamp Assistant creates the partition, creates the windows driver disk, then reboots to install windows from my retail version of Windows 7 Home Premium (DVD.) It hangs with the progress bar about 10% of the way across. The message "windows is loading files" is displayed. I waited a full 45 minutes but nothing changed. Help!

Look at your SSD. See if there is an issue, firmware update, etc.
not all SSDs work - some work in one OS and not the other, the Mac 2011s have been known to have issues with their SATA3 cable interface and chipset.
Apple and Intel and others have all issued fimrware updates.
In some cases people have just sent back their MBP because they were such problem, and that just running Mac OS, not even Windows.
