CF10 Install Kaput

CF10 Standard Edition 64 bit, Windows 2012, IIS 8. Initially I installed the CF10 before moving the CF8 sites to the new server. I added the IIS and DNS records manually ahead of moving the site files to minimize downtime. Done this before. Lots of 404 Page not Found errors until we learned that every domain needed a virtual directory for CFIDE and jakarta. A few of the domains started to take shape, but eventually the CF Admin went blank. No error, no login - gone.
This morning I uninstalled and reinstalled CF10 and noted that all of the IIS entries had the virtual directory mapping included if they hadn't alreaday. But still no CFAdmin, which makes everything else kind of pointless. Instead of going forward, we punted and reactivated the old server where the CF8 chugging along which keeps my clients happy. Because I cannot login to the CFAdmin, I cannot tell you  the build version was but I did purchase it on April 3rd and downloaded it the same day so I'd hope the install exe was the latest and greatest.
I found very little posted online for troubleshooting CF10 & Windows 2012. An abundance of Windows 2008 and CF9, but not having much experience with either I couldn't know for sure what was relevant or not. The CGI and ASAPI had to be available on the new server or CF10 would not install and I spent lots of time checking those this morning as it seemed to be part of the solution to many past postings on various sites.
What to do? Get a refund on the CF10? Anyone out there that married CF10 and Windows 2012 experience and remedy anything similar? Anyone tried CF9 on Windows 2012?
As always, all help is appreciated.
Tim

Tim, sorry to hear of your challenges. You’re not alone, but I would assert that this is not an issue of CF10 and Server 2012.
Instead, I think the primary problem in in your comment, “I did purchase it on April 3rd and downloaded it the same day so I'd hope the install exe was the latest and greatest.”
No, the version you download was not the latest and greatest. (And this is nothing new for CF10, as I discuss in this entry from 2010, at http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2010/12/11/cfmyths_latest_installer_includes _all_updates)
But focusing on CF10, yes, you needed to apply updates. Some good news is that these are now automated in CF10, via the Admin Server Updates page. Better news is that they are cumulative, so you only need to do the latest.
But more important for your problem, I suspect, do note that for some of the CF10 updates you need to rerun the CF web server configuration tool after them, to remove and read the connections.
More to the point, in a new install of CF10, you need to a) install it, b) apply the latest update, and then c) rebuild the web server configuration.

  • CF10 install on win2k8 with Plesk - websites won't resolve

    I am unable to get any of my ColdFusion websites to resolve on a new server Windows 2008 R2 server (IIS 7.5) with Plesk.  The issue appears to be permission issues between CF and Plesk but I cannot figure them out for the life of me.  I have run and re-run the web server configuration manager about 15 times as administrator.    I have the most recent hotfixes installed.  I was able to get the CF Administrator to load on the default website, but none of the other domains. Even having done so I have had to create the Jakarta and CFIDE directories manually on the other domains.  So I suspect this is a signe of a permission issue.  What permisison settings do I need to put in place so that Plesk and CF10 play well together?
    I am getting the following generic error.
    500 - Internal server error.
    There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.
    I get this even when trying to load a jpg file.
    Chad

    Hi Chad,
    I guess if there is any permission issue then you will get Access denied when accessing the Application page, however if you can enable the robust debugging so you can check the complete error msg. So enable the debug info and share the screenshot here, Also you can test with a simple cfm page which doesn't have any dependency with you App and see if ColdFusion can server it.

  • No TOMCAT listed in ISAPI Filter after CF10 install

    Hey
    I just installed CF10 STANDARD on a Windows 2003 server with IIS6.   Twice actually.  The first time I installed is side by side with CF7 (yeah, I know..old) and I recalled seeing TOMCAT listed in the ISAPI Filters section of the IIS website.  But after I uninstalled 7, had some funky things going on and uninstalled and reinstalled CF10 by itself, I now do NOT see anything listed under the ISAPI Filters section of IIS.    In reading the IIS Config document from Adobe, I see that it looks like it (and other things) should have been there, see below:
    Verify your IIS configuration
    Verify that the following folder was created: cf_root/config/wsconfig/number.
    To set the connectionpooltimeout and reuseconnectioncount click on Advanced Setting tab. The option to enable buffering  and verbose debugging is available on the same page.
    Configuring IIS:
    Creates a folder 1 in cfroot\config\wsconfig, that contains all connector-related files.
    Creates a virtual directory Jakarta in cfroot\config\wsconfig (in IIS).
    Adds an entry, tomcat, under the ISAPI FILTERS. This points to cfroot\config\wsconfig\1\isapi_redirect.dll.
    Adds an entry, tomcat, to  cfroot\config\wsconfig\1\isapi_redirect.dll with permission allowed under ISAPI and CGI Restrictions. It is applicable for global sites in IIS manager.
    Adds the following isapi handlers: cfcHandler, cfmHandler, cfmlHandler, cfrHandler, and cfswfHandler.
    For debugging issues, set the log level to debug, in the isapi_redirect.properties file present in the cfroot\config\wsconfig\1\ directory.
    To disable webserver buffer,  change the is_buffer_enable to false in the cfroot\config\wsconfig\1\isapi_redirect.properties file. Disable webserver buffer if you want cfflush to work over an IIS connector. If your application does not use cfflush, set it to true for increase in the performance.
    So I'm curious whether I should punt CF off the server again and reinstall of if there are any detailed instructions for how to do these steps manually above?  Adding the entry to the filter area seems straightforward but the steps following that do not seem quite so defined.
    The issue I'm seeing which I think  is related to this is that my website doesn't redirect to the index.cfm if it's NOT on the URL.  I get access denied, so I'm thinking its that this process didn't get done correctly.
    Thanks for any thoughts.

    Are you able to broswe to the pages, after adding index.cfm at the end of the url. If yes, then it can't be problem with CFM pages. It would be related to redirection to index.cfm.

  • How do I install development version of CF11 alongside CF10 for testing?

    I have the development version of CF10 installed on a Windows 7 system with Apache 2 and would like to start testing some code with CF11.  Can I install CF11 without replacing CF10?  I don't need them to both be activated at the same time, but would like to be able to switch back if necessary.   I develop code for a non-profit that is running CF 9 but is thinking of jumping to CF11.

    Hi,

  • CF10 Some pages render blank, No configured web servers

    I'm moving from CF8 to CF10 and having some issues. My CF10 install is a clean install on brand new server running Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit IIS 7.5. I've upgraded to CF version 10,0,11,285437. Out of the 50 or so Apps on the server almost everything works, but there are a few pages that just don't render at all. No error, nothing. Viewing the source for the page just shows an empty HTML page. Coldfusion logs are empty and there's 500 null error in the IIS logs.
    While researching that issue I found many people recommending I rerun wsconfig after patching CF, so I tried that and it looks like my sites aren't configured correctly. During install I configured the sites individually (2 of them run in 32 bit while the cfadmin site runs in 64.) Now when I run the Web Server Configuration Tool as administrator I just get a Configured Web Servers box that is empty. When I click add the next window shows IIS, but the drop down for IIS Web Sites is disabled. Checking the Configure 32 bit web server option doesn't change anything. 99 out of a 100 pages work just fine, so it seems odd that the tool is telling me the server isn't configured. I'm not even sure where to start at this point.
    EDIT: I've read most of the posts related to the wsconfig and none of the solutions presented yet make any difference. ASP.NET, .NET Extensibility, CGI, ISAPI Extensions, ISAPI Filters are all already installed. I've tried reinstalling CF, IIS, even going back to a clean snapshot of he OS several times and the result is always the same. I've even tried it with and without IIS Compatability.
    Edit2: I've figured out the problem with wsconfig (McAfee IPS was preventing it from working.) Unfortunately, even after reconfiguring the servers I'm still getting the blank page problem. Nothing in any of the CF logs and a 500 null error in the IIS logs.

    Hi
    Out of 20, if there are 10 coldfusion (.cfm) pages which are working fine and rest of the 10 are not working fine then you must run the code analyzer to check the error on those pages as you mentioned that you have moved to CF 10 from CF 8.
    Run wsconfig as Run as Admin and then see how many connector showing up there? Like if you have configure webserver with All option, then it will display on 1.
    Thanks
    VJ

  • Anyone have trouble connecting to web services with CF10?

    I'm trying to connect to InDesign server running in the same box @ http://localhost:18383/service?wsdl and this gives me the error "Web service operation RunScript with parameters ... cannot be found". I tried toggling web service version in CF admin to 1 and 2. I tried with CF updates, without updates. Tried in a different box, it is the same.
    When I dump my web service object, before invoking the function, it display WSDL structure correctly with all functions in it, including "RunScript". So I guess, create object part worked correctly.
    Uninstalled CF10, Installed CF9 in the same box, it works fine.
    Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there any limitation in TomCat executing web services in a high port (18383)?
    Update:
    I send the SOAP request to InDesign server manually using CFHTTP and it works in CF10. Seems like CF10 somehow did not respect the WSDL instructions.

  • New CF10, Server 2012, Default Document 404

    On a new WIndows 2012 server (64bit), IIS 8.x installed, CF10 installed (to latest patches), CF10 hardening done. Ran WS-Config on individual IIS sites (not the "All" site). Jakarta virtual directory in place in the IIS site, and pointing to the correct wsconfig file for the IIS site :  {CF-Home}\config\wsconfig\{iis-site-number}
    Default document setting in IIS set to defaults; have also tried setting index.htm as first default document.  Browsing to http://mydomain.com/ returns a 404. Browsing to http://mydomain.com/index.htm returns correct content. Problem happens with any subfolder on the site. Have verified that index.htm exists in all tested folders. (Browsing done on the local server console.)
    Have deleted site web.config, then re-enabled index.htm as default document in IIS manager. Have checked permissions to the file; they are proper (and beside, going to http://mydomain.com/index.htm works fine, so don't think it is a permissions problem). No URL rewriting at server or site level. Authentication at site and server level set to 'anonymous' enabled, all others disabled.
    IIS log files show a port 80 request: GET /  returns the 404. Failed request tracings are  no help.
    This happens with any IIS site created. Also happens by IP address.
    Have verified all needed IIS components (role features) are installed.
    Am now officially stuck at figuring out this problem.

  • My CF10 is acting weird

    So I got CF10 installed on my server next to xampp, when I launch the installer and get to this screen:
    http://puu.sh/1uAB4
    Then when I click "ADD" and go to xampp conf folder etc. I get this message:
    http://puu.sh/1uADv
    And then click OK, I get the next error message:
    http://puu.sh/1uAEI
    Is there any way to resolve this problem, or maybe the download link to Coldfusion 8?
    Kind regards,

  • CF10 Sandbox Security prevents CFCOLLECTION create from working

    Hello, everyone,
    I've got CF10 installed on my dev system.  I've created several Solr collections.  I have turned on Sandbox Security, and added defined directory permissions for C:/ColdFusion10/cfusion/collections and C:/ColdFusion10/cfusion/jetty folders.  I have edited both paths so that NOTHING is disabled.
    If Sandbox is on and I remove a collection from within CFAdmin, when I try to use the CFCOLLECTION action="create" tag, I get java.io.filePermission "read" access denied messages.
    If I turn off Sandbox, the tag runs fine.
    What else do I need to do in order for CFCOLLECTION action="create" to work while Sandbox is on?
    V/r,
    ^_^

    Hi, Charlie!  Thanks for chiming in.  (Also, sorry for delay in responding..)
    Yes, when the collection is created in CFAdmin, the collection IS creating the folders in C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\collections.
    When I create them with CFCOLLECTION, I am specifying the same path to the collections folder.
    For the Sandbox, CF10 installs with three items in the Sandbox, already:
    (ColdFusion WEB-INF system directory)
    (ColdFusion CFIDE system directory)
    C:/ColdFusion10/cfusion/wwwroot/
    I have added to this list:
    C:/ColdFusion10/cfusion/jetty/
    C:/ColdFusion10/cfusion/collections/
    For each of the two I added, I edited them both:
    Data Sources - ALL DATASOURCES enabled
    CF Tags - All tags enabled, none disabled
    CF Functions - All functions enabled, none disabled
    Files/Dirs - Each path (with two entries, each: / and /-) set for Read, Write, Delete
    Server/Ports - ALL IP:ports are open, no restrictions
    Others - ALL runtimes enabled, none disabled
    I have gone in to look at the settings for wwwroot.  With one exception, it is identical to the above.  That one exception is that all runtimes (under Others) are disabled, none enabled.

  • Java object instantiation exception after upgrade from CF9 to CF10

    I have some custom Java classes placed within the C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\wwwroot\WEB-INF\classes directory of my CF10 install. Although these worked in CF9, I am now getting the following error:
    Error Occurred While Processing Request
    Object instantiation exception.
    An exception occurred while instantiating a Java object. The class must not be an interface or an abstract class. Error: javax/mail/Store.
    The exception log entry is similar:
    "Error","ajp-bio-8012-exec-1","01/28/13","21:51:08",,"Object instantiation exception.An exception occurred while instantiating a Java object. The class must not be an interface or an abstract class. Error: javax/mail/Store. The specific sequence of files included or processed is: sample\path\to\document\index.cfm, line: 1 "
    coldfusion.runtime.java.JavaObjectInstantiationException: Object instantiation exception.
    I created a simple sample that attempts to instantiate the object that throws the above exception:
    <cfscript>m = createObject( "Java", "sample.namespace.MBoxReader" );</script>
    I can create the same object in Java without error, e.g.:
    MBoxReader m = new MBoxReader();
    I checked, but as far as I can nothing attempts to instantiate the Store class, only subclasses of store. I have read in other posts that this may be due to missing classes or duplicate classes, so I'm not ruling that out, but haven't had much luck in identifying anything yet. Any tips on troubleshooting this issue?
    EDIT: I started with a much simpler Java class and started adding methods back to it. It appears to break when I attempt to instantiate a mail session:
    "Error","ajp-bio-8012-exec-1","01/29/13","10:17:22",,"javax/mail/Session The specific sequence of files included or processed is: sample\path\to\document\index.cfm, line: 3 "
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/mail/Session
    I built the project using the mail.jar file in C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\lib, which contains a Session class. However, the Session class does not have a public constructor--maybe that's why CF has an issue.
    For example, calling this Java method via CF causes the error:
    public void mboxTest() {
       Properties props = new Properties();
       Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance( props );

    Hi,
    Can you please roll back the Security patch and the reason is because you have missed some files  when you were applying the patch. So after you roll back check if the admin in working then re-apply the patch once again.

  • How to Connection CF10 to Apache on Separate Linux boxes

    Is there documentation on this? We have CF10 installed on one Linux server and would like to connect it to Apache installed on a second Linux box.

    Hi,
    I have done this in Windows and Linux both for CF 9, but you can follow the same for ColdFusion 10. The place where we have to enter the IP address, put in the IP address of Remote server where you have installed ColdFusion 10.
    In Web Server machine create the Identical directory as /opt/ColdFusion10/config/wsconfig and then place all the files,
    Manual Connector for Apache: http://helpx.adobe.com/coldfusion/kb/coldfusion10-apache-manual-connector-configuration.ht ml
    In ColdFusion server machine, you don't have to create this connector directory.
    Please check this article, this is for CF 9.

  • CF 10 64 Bit MS Access

    Hi All,
    Having trouble when I upgrade to CF 10.
    We have Windows 2008 R2 64 Bit.
    In CF 9 I followed the instructions on how to use MS Access in CF on 64 Bit and all worked well.
    When I upgraded to CF 10 the Datasources would not work.
    I then tried to recreate them and still no luck.
    Can anyone help me with this problem?
    At present it is not possible to upgrade the database, so I need to use MS Access.
    Regards
    Ken

    Hi Aaron,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Yes, infact let me explain our setup.
    We have both Intranet and Internet. In both of these we have build, test and production environments.
    All of these have been running correctly for the past 2 years with some ms access dsn's setup.
    All with Windows 2008 r2 and CF9.01
    I actually used the following instructions to set these up.
    http://www.coldfusionmuse.com/index.cfm/2010/12/31/Access.on.64bit.ColdFusion
    I then used the following instructions to up grade to CF10
    https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1CFdXhBUzafrFP8vKLE7sqRDT6TMFvX4-jRyPqOrT5G8/edit?p li=1
    Everything worked after the upgrade except for the ms access dsn's.
    I then search for CF10 and ms access and found your instructions.
    So, I removed allms access dsn's from both windows and CF and followed your instuctions.
    I even installed the new driver you suggested.
    This did not work. So I have to revert back to CF9 until I found a solution.
    I turned the CF10 services off and the CF9services on.
    Then change the paths in IIS.
    Low and behold the ms access dsn's all worked. I did not have to do anything.
    So I'm thinking that something may have screwed up in the CF10 install?

  • Deploying WAR file

    We have recently purchased CF10 Enterprise and we want to package an existing application and deploy it to a customer's server. The instructions and guides available are pretty vague on what needs to be done on the deployment side. We have a WAR file of our CF application packaged already, we've setup a test server with J2EE installed, but we're at a loss on what to do next. There is not much documentation available.
    Does anyone know the deployment options (setting up IIS? etc) for a WAR install?
    Thank you

    That's not strictly true. Sure, you CAN go buy Websphere, but it's not your
    only option.
    Unlike previous versions of ColdFusion where you could deploy your own WAR
    into JRun, you cannot do this the vanilla CF10 install.
    However there's nothing to stop you downloading Tomcat 7 and deploying CF10
    to that along with your own WAR file. You'll lose the benefits of the web
    server connector that ships with CF10 ('expected' cgi variables, Built in
    SES support) but its nothing you can't workaround.
    We work exactly this way for all our apps.
    As for hooking up IIS to Tomcat, you can actually use the open source web
    server connector that was written for Railo... I don't have a link to hand,
    but a quick Google should identify it for you.

  • Is CF Developer Edition slower than the actual production version?

    I'm most of the way finished with my website conversion from PHP to CF.  I have a working blog, a photo gallery, and other sundry pages.  It's been a really fun project, and I'm looking forward to picking up some space from Hostek and uploading my franken... errr, my new website.
    The one thing I've noticed though is that when run locally, pages take AGES to load.  And not just the pages with queries.  Even the static pages are slow.  At first I wondered if my SQL was to blame, but when I <cfdump> the query that builds my photo gallery index page, I get an execution time of zero (granted, I only have a 6 albums that show up, and 3 of them are empty).
    My development machine is a Core2 Duo, 3GHz, with 8GB of ram, running Ubuntu 12.10.  I have CF10 installed with MySQL 5.x and Apache2.
    It just seems like locally things should be speedy, so I'm starting to suspect the dev edition of CF.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?

    Figured it out!!!
    I have a main content section on my website, then a sidebar on the right with sundry items, like a random quote, a featured pic, a list of previous blog posts, AND two RSS feeds that bring news for my two favorite things (cycling and Formula 1) into the sidebar.
    In the PHP version, I had a script that I downloaded that was very complicated, but in the conversion I'm using <cffeed>.
    Well, in playing around, I accidentally made a typo in the sidebar code, and the page rendered instantly.  I started commenting out sections of the sidebar, and the culprit was the feed section (which makes sense, since the other items in the sidebar are cached queries).
    Now that I know the culprit, maybe I can post the code and some of you can tell me what I've done wrong, or could do better.
    <h4>Cycling</h4>
    <ul>
    <cfset rssUrl = "http://velonews.competitor.com/feed">
    <cffeed action="read" source="#rssUrl#" query="cycling" properties="info">
    <cfoutput query="cycling" maxrows="6"><li class="rssdesc"><a href="#rsslink#">#title#</a></li></cfoutput>
    </ul>
    <h4>Formula 1</h4>
    <ul>
    <cfset rssUrl2 = "http://www.formula1.com/rss/news/latest.rss">
    <cffeed action="read" source="#rssUrl2#" query="formula1" properties="info">
    <cfoutput query="formula1" maxrows="6"><li class="rssdesc"><a href="#rsslink#">#title#</a></li></cfoutput>
    </ul>
    Perhaps there's a way to cache these results so they only update once per day and not every single time the page is loaded.  If not, I'll just leave them out altogether.

    Verison 10 is different from 9 because they run on different servlet containers. CF 10 uses Tomcat, CF 9 uses JRun, so things are in different places.
    \\ColdFusion10\jre\lib\security seems like the correct locaiton for the policy files to me. I actually gave you the wrong locations in my original post (sorry about that).  According to the installation instructions they belong in <java-home>\lib\security, which is looks like you've found.
    So something else is wrong. Here are some things to look at, in no particular order:
    1. Are you using a JVM other than the Java 1.6 that comes with CF10?
    2. Did you restart Tomcat after coping the files in?
    3. Note that I keep saying FILES, did you copy BOTH of th .jar files from the JCE folder you unzipped into the security directory.  It should have prompted you to overwrite existing files.
    4. Did you try unzipping the files and copying them in again, on the chance that they did not overwrite the originals?
    Sorry, I don't have CF10 installed to give this a try. But I have no reason to believe that it would not work in 10. It's all just JCA/JCE on the underlying JAVA, and I have heard no reports from anyone else that it doesn't work.
