CF8 Install Problems on a Windows Dedicated VPS

Hello,
I have a dedicated VPS running Windows Server 2003 that I am
using to run CF8 on. However, I can't access the CF administrators
page. When you click on Administrator under the Adobe folder in the
start menu, the browser opens and acts as though it is bringing the
page up and then it goes to a download window like you are
downloading a program. Finally, the browser window returns the
message "Service Unavailable". I have tried to get the company who
I lease my VPS server from to help me, but they said this is a CF8
issue and they can't help me. The best they could do is tell me to
try accessing coldfusion through my VPS IP address with :8500 in
front of it. That still does nothing. Under Windows services, I
verified that the CF8 application server is running. I just don't
know what to do now. I would appreciate any help with this
matter.

If it is 64-bit Windows, CF is not supported on 64-bit yet.

Be aware that summarily going through your computer and manually deleting all files associated with PSE, (for example, the program folder itself), can disable your computer. I deleted the PSE-7 folder in one of my machines and both CD drives were no longer recognized.
Also, if you search the machine in other areas, and delete PSE files there, you will possibly destroy catalog and tag information.
As always, your results may very.

  • Install problems due to Windows Installer not being accessed

I have been trying to correct the issues with Windows Installer for days.  IO have tried "re-start" through the "run" program via the start menu.  I have tried "fix It" throught Windows web site.  I am running Windows XP media edition and IE 8.  What can I do to allow Windows Intaller access and download Adobe Reader?

A blank message isn't very helpful...
If I were you, I would try running the Actobat and Reader Cleanup Tool
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.htm
to remove all traces of any versions of Reader.
Then, if you want to reinstall Reader, download its full installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • CF8 install problems on linux server

Really some basic install questions as it seems this should
be simple enough, but I am a little confused with the jrun part. I
am running on a Cent OS 5 server, the install I assume is the
multi-server. It was installed to the default /opt location and I
have both the coldfusion and jrun folders. I changed the apache
connector to work which gave me the all good, but I have the
    following.
I can hit the admin page
    http://server.domain.com/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm
    ( no ports ). But when I try to load one of our pages I get;
    [Tue Mar 10 11:21:00 2009] [notice] jrApache[18561: 13457]
JRun will not accept request. Check JRun web server configuration
and JRun mappings on JRun server.
I am still confused if I need to start cf
    (/opt/coldfusion8/bin/coldfusion start), AND start jrun
(/opt/jrun4/jrun -start cfusion) but things just won't work, and I
think I need a high level look 1st. Do I need that above jrun, if
so how to setup, etc. If I run the ./jrun -start cfusion then try
    to run the cf-connectors.sh I get;
Configuring the web server connector for ColdFusion 8
    (multiserver)
    Running apache connector wizard...
    =======================================
There was an error while running the connector wizard
    Connector installation was not successful
    =======================================
So any push in the right direction will help. I can provide
anything, tried to be as descriptive as I can, but let me know.
    Thanks

I would guess you have ColdFusion installed, but your web
    server has not
yet been configured to do something about it. You need to
    configure
your web server to know that when it gets requests for
    ColdFusion
resources, such as .cfm, .cfc. and .cfr files, it needs to
    pass the
request off to the ColdFusion engine, not just serve the
    files to the
    client as a text file.
You should be able to find the information you need by
    searching for
information on wsconfig and ColdFusion web server connector.
These two sections of the documentation are all about this
    topic.

  • Installing problem on Windows 2003 Server 64 bit

    Dear All,
I'am trying to install XE onto a Windows 2003 Server 64 bit.. The installation process ends without any errors but the database itself seems not to start.
I tried several hints that have been mentioned here within the forum. But none of them worked. While experimenting I saw that there is not a single registry entry of Oracle within HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\Software .
Is there a possiblity to set those needed registry entries manually? Is there a script for that purpose?
Thank you very much for your help!
    Regards
    Matthias

    Hi,
thank you for your reply. As 32bit programs should run under Windows 64bit I thought the XE should run under 64bit, too.
The installation of XE itself seems to finish without any errors. But within the log files it can be read that the database has not started up due to a out of memory problem. This causes many log entries within all other logfiles as no database could be created.
The out of memory problem might be the same as within Advice on running XE on a small virtual Linux host ("Virtuozzo") because I am using a virtual windows 2003 server with "Virtuozzo", too.
At this time I am on discussing the issue with the provider. Maybe I will get a dedicated server with Windows Server 2003 64bit. Hopefully the XE could be installed on the 64bit Windows Server because 32bit dedicated servers are rare.
    Best regards
    Matthias

  • Itunes doen't install on my 64 bit machine "there is a problem with this windows installer package..."

Ever since ITunes has come out with a dedicated 64 bit version, I have been unable to install Itunes. the first time I had the problem it suggested I unistall itunes which I did. Itunes still will not install however. I have cleared my temp files, moved my music off of my hard drive, everything I can think of and there is no change. Any help someone could provide would be appreciated as I am at the point where I have copied all of the files from the program directory of someone else's installed 64bit itunes and I am running a makeshift version. Should I see if I can get my hands on a disk version of the installer?
Here is the message: "there is a problem with this windows installer package. a program required for this install could not be run. contact your support personnel or package vendor"

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • I get the errer message "There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run."

I have Wondows Vista... I tried to upgrade to Itunes 10.5, and received an error orginially stating that I was trying to install a version older than the one I had.  I uninstalled all of itunes, and now I'm getting the error  message "there is a problem with this windows installer package.  Aprogram required for this install to complete could not be run.
Help!  I have an IPhone, and I would like to get my Itunes upgraded so I can download the new Iphone software...
    Thanks!

I have been in touch with Apple support in reference to my problem. We went through every solution available, and found no fix. The tech then suggested I contact Microsoft concerning this issue. I thought that suggestion was just to get me pointed somewhere but Apple. Boy was I wrong!! I contacted Microsoft, and was directed to a free download called Microsoft Fix. This program fixed something in the regisitor, and wala everything was fixed!! I now have I-Cloud and I-Tunes loaded and working well. So, if you can't install Apple Software and are running Window 7 you might give Microsoft Fix a try, it fixed my problem.....

  • I am trying to upload itunes 10.5, but get a message "There is a problem with this Window Installer Pkg. A program required for this install to complete could not be run.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor".  What is it I need to do?

I am trying to install itunes 10.5, but during the download I get the following message, "There is a problem with this Window Installer Package.  A program required for this install to complete could not be run.  Contact your support personanal or package vendor."  If this is my personal computer and was able to upgrade to the previous version (pre 10.5), why not now?  What is my "package vendor"? And what is it I need to do to fix this?  The message is unclear.  Unfortunately, I deleted my itunes program, thinking that in doing so, 10.5 would finally load.  Now I have no itunes on my computer and unable to sync my iphone.  Help!
    Thanks - Rick

    Hi Rick,
by "repair" I mean I went to the control panel, option - programs and features, and in the list of all my installed programs I selected "Apple Software Update". On top of the screen you find the options Uinstall, Change and Repair. I clicked the repair button and that did the trick. After the repair I could uninstall the program. I also uninstalled iTunes, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support en Bonjour, thus all Apple programs. Then I installed iTunes 10.5 again and everything went fine.
    Success,
    Peter

    Repair your Apple software update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you don't find ASU, go to Control Panel:
    START/CONTROL PANEL/Programs n Features/highlight ASU and click REPAIR,

  • How to re-install iTunes after receiving "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package ..." message?

    Hi,
This is how it all started. When the new update for iTunes 11 came out, I tried to update it. After I had updated it I found nothing had changed. So i tried rebooting my computer and everything and found that still nothing had changed. So I tried uninstalling it. After that I tried to re-install it, but it came up with the
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package ..." message. So I looked around the internet and found a website that told me to uninstall all Apple products. So i did that. When i tried to uninstall Apple Software Update, it came up with the 'problem with windows' message again. So I used Revo to uninstall it. So I rebooted and tried to install it again. It installed Bonjour and all of the other programs but stopped halfway and gave me the 'proplem with windows' message again. I've looked around and most of the solutions have been to try and repair Apple Software Update, but the problem is, I've already deleted it. So can someone PLEASSEEEE help me fix this problem! (Sorry for droning on)

  • Lenovo D20, Type 4155-21G With 5x1.5tb Raid 5, Windows 7 64bit install problem.

    H
Id like to just document a current machine and works and see if any thing is glaringly wrong..
Above spec machine has an onboard marrvel 66xx raid card, a raid 5 volume has been created, total useable space is around 5.5TB.
The software in play here is the following..
Orignal Lenovo recovery disk set, this is Rescue and recovery boot disk 1, then the OS which is Vista 32 Business, the disk label is actual 64bit but its not 64bit its 32bit.
The machine finally has to leave with Windows 7 64bit ultimate.
I have looked into the upgrade paths and so on and basicly you need vista 64bit ultimate in theory, certain hacks are possible such as renaming the os level or name via the registery, but this is dirverting from my post.
Here is what has been done and what has happend.
    20th Jan.
    Start of day.
    Raid 5 volume created.
Factory recovery completed windows vista business 32bit.
Attempt to upgrade Windows vista business to Windows 7 ultimate from with in windows, windows 7 alerts this is not a compatable system etc.
At this stage since the 64bit upgrade is not possible from the known good lenovo state (lenovo vista business factory desktop etc) the second disks in the "Windows 7 32bit + 64bit any time upgrade package was ran.
The 32bit version of the Windows 7 ultimate was ran, this did complete sucessfully.
The 64bit version of the windows 7 was attempted once more from with in the newly installed Windows 7 32 bit but again this upgrade route is not supported.
At this stage a custom install was completed (which means a fresh install which wipes the drive) / fresh install, of the windows 7 64bit any time upgrade disk.
For some reason the Windows 7 64bit any time upgrade key failed to be accepted.
At this stage a second engineer repeated all steps completed to verify and on the second go around the FRESH install of Windows 64bit any time upgrade (stand alone install / custom etc) the key worked!..
This is were it gets interesting.
Lets recap, we have a D20 with 5x1.5tb sata hard drives in raid 5, all on the onboard marvel raid card.
Windows 7 64bit has been sucessfully installed, and of course the next step is to install the lenovo system update tool. (version for windows 7, I understand this is fully 64bit compatable..)
This was completed and pc doctor and one other misc application install, the system requested to restart and then ....
The raid BIOS of the marvel card reported that the raid had become degraded..!!
An inspection of the onboard raid information results that the disk 0 of the 5 disks, was no longer assigned to the RAID 5, with teh remaining several disks still "assigned".
At this stage the only option is to delete the raid five array and recreate it.
This has been done and the factory recovery process has once again been restarted and an attempt will be made to perform the custom install with hopefully the windows 7 64bit any time upgrade install detecting the previous version although I would say that it would not need to detect anything since this is now longer an upgrade but a custom fresh install.
    Further information.
There is a System bios update from the 5th of Jan 2010, this has been burnt to cd and will be applyed against the machine shortly.
We have had some conversation about just how it is that a disk can fatally pop out from the raid five volume like this, was it a coincidence that it coninsided with the power cycle process dirrectly after the system update installation?
Tommorow a Windows 64bit OEM package will be applied against this machine and since we have the relivant driver file for the onboard raid card (sourced from the drivers and applications lenovo recovery disk set), there should be less of a problem in key acceptance.
Kind of a werid situation, what looks like a possible hardware problem and a stupid microsoft upgrade qulification problem.
Is there any thing stupid I have over looked?
Thanks, sorry for the long post but this is the story in full.
Note from Moderator:  Fixed formatting issue.

    21st Jan..
The D20 has sucessfully had vista business factory reinstalled and then Windows 7 64bit installed.
Dirrectly after the Windows 7 installation and power cycle, one of the five 1.5tb hard drives have dropped out of the raid, visable as "DEGRADED", uppon further inspection via control m, the middle drive (not drive 0 as before) drive 2 (0,1,2,3,4,5) has dropped out and is not marked as assigned, it is marked with no label or free.
This is high strangeness, it is my understanding that the RAID technologies are transparent to the OS so it should not be in any way the Windows 7 install triggering this, the last occurance was also during a Windows 7 power cycle but dirrectly after the system update tool being installed.
At this stage it would appear that Windows 7 64-bit used in conjunction with the supplment driver disk marked as (drivers and apps, windows xp vista, windows 7) is not able to complete and remain stable.
I suspect a possible driver issue but if this was the case surely the windows 7 install would not progress past the first installation point where the driver disks is required to actually use and see the array via the controler.
I will update this thread with more information as it becomes available.
Machine delivery eta to customer is tommorow so this is not good.

I have also tried extracting the individual components to the temp file and attempting to install them individually despite being unable to remove the previous install of Apple Software Updater.  The outcome, both Apple Software Updater and itunes encountered the same error message during the install process.
