CF9 Scheduled Tasks Sort order changed; how to fix it?

I just notice in my CF9 administrator under "Scheduled Tasks", the tasks now display Alphabetically IN GROUPS BY FREQUENCY rather than the straight alpha by Task Name. Is this a new "feature" of CF9 and how can I change it back to "normal" sort by Task Name? We have lots of scheduled tasks and it's really more convenient to see them the old way. I haven't found any obvious place where I can change the sort order. Any help is appreciated.
You could experiment with changing /CFIDE/administrator/scheduler/scheduletasks.cfm to be the one CF8 uses instead. I dunno if it would work, but it should.
Or you could write your own CFAdmin extension to display them however you like.
I don't know there's an "official" way to revert to the old view.
I'm not sure why they bothered changing this. I think they could have better spent said time on something else... like providing a proper API for managing the tasks, without needing to rely on using the service factory.

Bug: iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5 podcast smart playlist sort order and how to fix.

There seems to be a bug in iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5 involving the sort order of a smart playlist of podcasts. I created such a playlist and sorted by release date on iTunes but I noticed it had a different sort order on the iPod Touch.
After playing around with it a bit I found that the only way to preserve the sort order that I have in iTunes on the iPod Touch is to uncheck "Live Updating" in the smart playlist.

Confirming this incredibly annoying bug. Basic list sorting not working... real bottom shelf work apple.
workaround update: limit to must be turned on, set it to an absurdly high number if you don't want to actually limit the playlist, then one of the sortby options in that submenu will work. The live update checkbox is irrelevant from experimentation.
This workaround does NOT fix the fundamental problem: sort order from itunes in smart playlists is not being synced and preserved in ios5 devices.
This is the latest in a long string of debacles which is making me seriously consider swapping to debian stable. (snow leopard to lion was a severe downgrade in performance for anyone doing heavy multitasking.. scheduling is FUBAR... when a command option escape beachballs on a brand new core 17 machine, your OS has serious problems with nice levels)

Sort Order Changes Unexpectedly in iPhoto Gallery

I frequently add new images to some of my iPhoto galleries, then publish to MobileMe. When I rearrange the images in a particular gallery, the sort order sometimes changes spontaneously. Once this occurs, I have to manually restore everything to its proper place. Needless to say, this is very irritating. Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?

Hello Alan,
If I understand you correctly the images will spontaneously change their order both online at me.com and in the MobileMe WebGallery within iPhoto. You may have a broken Album within iPhoto.
Try making a new MobileMe Gallery and add 50 pictures (make a few of them in an order that is distinct so you can tell if/when they move). Publish the Gallery and check the order. If its ok, add another few pictures and then check again.
Ultimately if the issue does not happen with the new album then you may want to delete the other album and re-create it (you could try rebuilding your iPhoto Library as well. See the link below).
If the issue happens with the new album as well follow http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638 to rebuild your Library. I would try using the "Rebuild iPhoto Library database..." option.
Also if you are not already I would suggest making regular backups of your computer. With Time Machine you could restore back to before this re-arranging occurs should it happen again http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553.

Sort order changes when copying found items

When I search for items in a library, they show up in the "show search results" window in the right order. But when I copy them to Pages, the sort order is changed. Any idea how to get them to copy in the correct order?

If I look in iCal, I can see nowhere to override the system level setting for the locale which is in System Preferences > International. Rightly or wrongly, I would conclude that iCal takes its locale from the International control panel.
Apple Pages does have an independent user interface for overriding the system level setting of the locale. This interface is in the Text Inspector > Language. But I am not aware that anyone has developed technical documentation for how this interface behaves.
The expected behaviour would be that if for a selected character string the user changes the language identifier from the system and document default to some other language identifier, then the sort order for that selected character string changes.
I discussed with Thomas Gewecke whether the user interface for language identification might not be made more explicit per standards. Not all 23 writing systems and 3 world scripts of the EU are included in the interface for language identification, but Deutsch is.
Try to tinker a bit with the controls in the International panel and the controls in the Text Inspector to see if you can find a setting that works. Whether software behaves as standards and specifications entitle one to expect is often a matter of trial and error.

Image Sort order changes when doing an editing in PS or Portraiture.

LR 5.7 OSX 10.9. Sometimes when doing an edit in PS and/or Portraiture the tiff and the raw file move to the end of the Loupe view. The first 15 images I worked on today stayed in the order they were shot, by file name,with the tiff and raw file next to each other. then for some reason the 16th one moved to the end of the Loupe view image lineup when the edit in was selected and the tiff file was created. How do I change the sort order back to file name or make this stop happening altogether.

V, thanks for the reply. I did know that but the problem was that even though the new version was created it did not open in CS4. This left the version locked in the Organiser with know way of closing it.
However, a re-boot of the machine seems to have cured this.

IPhoto sort order changes on iPad/iPhone when photos are edited

I have been having issues getting photos to display in the correct order on my iPad, iPhone and Apple TV. When I go into an event I want the first photo taken to be at the top and the last at the bottom. I sort by date so that photos taken on different cameras at the same event appear in chronological order and this works very well in iPhoto on my Mac. There is a problem when I sync to my devices though. Sometimes the order on my devices is the same as in iPhoto on my Mac and other times it is not. A recent software update seems to have cured the major issue, but created another. After some experimentation I have discovered that editing a photo changes its position in the sort, even if the adjustment has nothing to do with the date.
I picked a sample event and adjusted the contrast of the first photo. There was no change to sort order on the Mac. I hit sync in iTunes and the photo now displays last on my iPhone. Go back into iPhoto, click on "Revert to Original", sync iTunes again and the photo now displays first again. Seems like a bug to me.

I just discovered a temp work around for events with less than 1000 pictures, if I sort by Title I can get them to show correctly on the ATV and iPad. Now what was/is interesting is somethimes they would sort correct and sometimes not. It turns out that if you sort the event by Title and quit iPhoto and reopen it....it has reverted back to sort by Date. It does that everytime. So what I do is turn home sharing off in iTunes (forces it to look at the photos again), open an iPhoto event and sort by Title. Then I turn home sharing on in iTunes (leaving iPhoto open) and sync my iPad. If I want ot stream photos to my ATV I must leave iPhoto open so the sort remains as I set it. If I want to retain the correct sort this is what I need to do each time. So this is a bandage for me until they fix things. One final about pictures over 1000.....it sorts them as mentioned above with another twist, numbering goes 0001, 1000, 1001, 1002 etc. @#$% why can't they just sort the way iPhoto presents them?

Browser window album sort order change?

do you know if there's any way to change the sort order for albums on the browser window?
I'd like to view the album list for each artist sorted by release date order (as in discography) rather than alphabetically.

Change the View option to include Year then click on
the column heading.
that works on the main window, not in the browser window.
No matter what column I click in the main song window, the browser windows remain alphabetically sorted.

Out-of-Order Autoflow: How to fix?

Hello fellow ID users,
I have a 210-page document that I created in InDesign CS5.This document is arranged so that single pages are listed in sequence, with right and left alternating master pages (A,B,A,B, etc.).
As I was reviewing this document, I realized that the text would make more sense if I moved some pages around. So I opened up the page window and moved the pages around.
Unfortunately, after I moved these pages InDesign did not change the sequence of threaded frames to match the new sequence of the pages. And so now page 190 flows to 193; 191 flows to 192; but then 192 flows to 194; and 193 flows to 195. My text threads now resemble a spider web!
Is there some way that I can get InDesign to redo the autoflow so that the text threads are again in sequence with my new page layout?

Ugh. Yeah I know that would fix the problem. But I have numerous pages after this sequence and this means that I would basically need to redo this chapter from page 190 on. Isn't there an easier fix?

Yeah, this document will be printed in single pages on a copier. Since the end-user/reader will not read it as facing pages, I didn't want to look at it that way on my screen.

No, I won't wind up where I was before. I simply want my new page 190 to flow to 191, and 191 to flow to 192, etc. I guess what I was trying to communicate in my original post was that logically, the text in my document would make more sense to the reader if I reordered it, and so that's how I got into this pickle in the first place.
Peter also suggested: "If you want to change the order of paragraphs inthe text flow, you need to edit the text and move the paragraphs."
Um, well it's too late for that. I'm wondering how to fix this?
It seems to me that either I should be able to:
a) Somehow manually click on the text thread and place it where I want it to go (like on the following page) or:
b) Turn off all autoflow and then somehow "restart" it so that ID will automatically have it snake from each page to the next in the correct sequence.
Isn't there any way to do either of these? Or is there another solution that I'm missing here?

Is YouTube Subscription sort order going to be fixed?

I haven't seen the sort order of youtube subscriptions mentioned anywhere as a feature of Apple TV. Is it then a feature that has been removed?
Or is it a bug that is going to be fixed?
If the latter, does anyone know the bug reference number?

Error Handling for Background/Update Tasks (Transfer Order creation) - How?

Hi,
I have a standard process for creating a Transfer Order and 2 user-exits that I have implemented.
The user exits are used to transfer information during Transfer Order creation.
However, the user-exits also check data in table TVARV and other. As such, error handling needs to be implemented, since the T.O. might or might not go through, depending on data validation and related.
However, the user-exits are implemented during creation, which is an update task that runs in the background. This makes it impossible to output any information or error messages.
What else can be done in regards to outputting a message, since the user will need to see some sort of message that the process failed, that the T.O. didnu2019t confirm? Can an SAP inbox message be created and how?

Sort order changes when adding a phonetic last name?

I have my contacts sorted and displayed by first name. If I add a phonetic last name to a contact, it changes the order of that person to the top of list. Why wouldn't it leave them in the first name alphabetic order?

Ok this is what I'm doing...
My last name is spelled with "liter."
Siri pronounces that like "a 2 liter of soda."
So I've added the phonetic last name field on the contact card to help her pronounce it like "lighter."
On my contact info,
First name: Bill
Last name: Hinderliter
Phonetic last name: Hinderlighter
If I delete the phonetic last name field... It sorts the contact perfectly.
If I add it, the contact is placed on top of all the "B's" in the list.
On a side note... I found another website with a temporary fix to this problem. The person there says to use the nickname field instead of phonetic field when getting Siri to pronounce things.

Sort order changes from ios photos to iphoto

My photos in an album in the the ios Photo app are in a particular order. When accessed fro iPhoto, the order is completely different. How can I mantain the original order?

Changing sort order changes column width

I turned on column sorting (Report Attributes -> Sort checkbox) for a particular column. Now when I sort descending on that column, it seems to disable word-wrap and the width of the column increases dramatically.
Does anyone know why this happens or how to prevent it?

The width of the column would be the width of the widest bit of text within the column.
You can fix the width of a column by entering the following into the HTML Expression for the column definition:
<table><col style="width:100px;"><tr><td>#COLUMN_NAME#</td></tr></table>

Booklet converted to .pdf is fine for printing/folding, but for putting pdf file online website - pages in wrong order. How to fix?

I created a booklet in Publisher and then saved as .pdf file to post on a website. When printed, pages are ok for folding and printing in the right order, but the .pdf file to look at shows pages out of order. is there a way to fix this?

Not with Reader.
You would probably need to rebuild the original document and recreate the pdf.
