CFEclipse Help
Hello All ... Ok i am having a big problem installing
CFEclipse on to the standalone copy of Flex 2.0.1 .... I have
followed the instructions etc and when i try and use it i get the
following error ... Any suggestions ?

I just installed CFEclipse 1315 to my Flexbuilder 2.0.
However, when I try to go to Help >Software Updates>Find and
Install >Search for New Features to install, no matter what I
do, I get this message:
Network connection problems encountered during search.
Unable to access "

And whenever I try to open a CFC I get the problem the guy
above encountered. I have copied and pasted files from the ZIP into
Flexbuilder's folders as instructed, but to no avail. The CFEclipse
just does not work for me!! Any ideas?

Help with eclipse installation, please!
I usually use dreamweaver but now I have to use eclipse. I'm
so confuse as where to start. I've googled for guide to eclipse
installation but not sure what to do.

Really? I just Googled "jdk-1_5_0_04-windows-i586-p.exe" and
found rather
a lot of matches. One can download it from the very first
link.
There are more recent versions of Java than that, though.
If you ever need to download a JDK, the Java website is
perhaps the best
bet (java.sun.com).

OK, some background. Eclipse is a Java application, so to run
it, one
needs Java installed.
If you don't already have a JDK installed, then the option
you want is the
one WITH the JDK, because that will definitely be the a
suitbale version to
run Eclipse one. One might not want to D/L the version
bundled with a JDK
if one already has the same or more recent JDK installed.

Well: start by googling CFEclipse. On the website for it,
there'll be a
D/L as well as instructions. It's pretty straight fwd, if one
reads the
instructions.

FLEX and CF Debugger setup - PLEASE HELP
I can't get the line debugger for CF in eclipse to work for
the life of me. I've been trying this for over 8 hours now. I
follow the directions on all the tutorials out there on the web and
still no luck. All my CF admin settings are correct. I think it has
to do w/ the debug mappings but not sure. I have a remote CF server
and am running Flex Builder 3 off of my local laptop (so wouldn't
that mean that the server and Eclipse are not on the same machine?)
My web root is a mapped network drive to the remote CF machine
(z:\websites). I can connect to the CF RDS fine... I can use the
wizards fine... I can set the breakpoints on the CFC page fine...
but the debugger just will not show me any variables. Please help
me to understand what I am doing wrong.For anyone having difficulty setting up the debugger please
follow these steps (btw all the tutorials out there are awful and
leave out important steps so I thought I'd document this to help
others out). Being a software application developer and not a
network admin these remote paths can be rather difficult to
understand.
1. uninstall any Flash player or plugins you have
2. run and install the Flash player and debugger that comes
with Flex Builder (its located in the Flex installation folder,
mine was under C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\Player\win).
You'll see 3 files, but only need to install Flash Player Active X
and Plugin
3. Ensure you'r debugger and tester are working (CF line
debugging is enabled). In Windows Preferences under Adobe -->
RDS click the 2 test buttons.
4. Install CFEclipse (to be able to get code hints and have
Eclipse color code cfm and cfc's like DreamWeaver does)
5. Make sure you have 2 breakpoints in the section you want
the debugger to stop. I was using 1 and on an empty space and that
wasn't stopping on the breakpoints. Also make sure the breakpoints
are on a coldfusion command line.
6. If you are using localhost don't add anything to the
mappings section other than
http://localhost:(your port
number, if you run CF admin you will see the port number in your
URL). If you have a CF server remotely though this is the TOUGH
part. It took me days to figure out my mappings. I'll just give you
my setup and work with that to figure out you're own.
I mapped my remote server drive to Z:\ and my WWWroot is
z:\websites so the correct Eclipse path = z:\websites.
The correct Coldfusion path is /websites (don't ask me why or
how, but anything other than this was not working)
7. Run the debugger by clicking the right arrow next to the
debug icon, select Other and select CF(launch a new config is you
dont have one already). When you set it up and press "Debug"...
press F11 to run a browsing session. Navigate to the page you set
breakpoints for and the debugger should work!
I hope this helps and saves others the agony of playing
around with mappings. -
CFEclipse and RDS on Mac OSX (Tiger)
I'm running CF8 with the stand-alone CF web server on a
MacBookPro running OS X (Tiger).
I installed Eclipse 3.3 and the CFEclipse plug-in, then
ventured to install the ColdFusion8 Extensions for Eclipse (Release
3.3.1.1). All installed without error, however when I tried to open
"localhost" from within the RDS Dataview panel within CFEclipse, I
got the error "Unable to contact the RDS server 'localhost'.
I tried changing the port to 80 from 8500 as was suggested in
an earlier post in this forum. That didn't appear to help so I
restored it to 8500. I then assured that "use a single password"
was checked in CFAdmin and re-installed the extensions (after
uninstall) so I could make sure the passwords between RDS and the
call matched. The last thing I tried, was selecting "No
authentication needed (not recommended)" in the Security > RDS
panel of CFAdmin... to no avail. Yes, I relaunched Eclipse after
every change.
Thank you for any insight.Uninstalling and reinstalling CF8 did the trick.

CFEclipse editor driving me insane
Anyone know how I can change the way it collapses tag bodies?
I like how it does, especially when I'm composing a cfc
because I can
collapse each function, showing only the top line of each,
but sometimes
it ends up collapsing two or three functions together, rather
than each
function separately and it's driving me nuts trying to get
the freaking
thing to display correctly.
What do I do to avoid that happening? Thanks.For CFEclipse, you can control what gets folded/collapsed by
default. Open your flavor of Eclipse. I use 3.3.2 and, just as of
yesterday, started migrating to 3.4, but believe the same steps
apply for 3.2+. Apologies if you already know this...
1. Open Eclipse
2. Open Preferences (this varies from 3.2 to 3.3+ and from OS
to OS)
3. Select/Expand CFEclipse in the list of options on the left
of the preferences dialog
4. Select/Expan Editor under CFEclipse
5. Select Code Folding
6. Look at the column for initial collapse and
select/deselect items you want/don't want initially folded.
I've also experienced the code folding problem where multiple
functions are wrapped into one element. In these cases, I typically
close/reopen the page to resolve, same as 12Robots. This happens to
me usually when I've copied a function and pasted it in the same
CFC (and then change the name, code, etc.) or, as 12Robots notes,
when adding a function to the CFC.
You can also mess with the context-menu items to see if they
help when this happens (right-click and then try Refresh Syntax
Highlighting or Expand All/Collapse All). -
How to use Sourcesafe with CFEclipse ?
this is my first project in CF and I usually use VSS in my projects so anyone have a link or how to install VSS on CFEclipse ?
Thank you so muchWe used VSS with CFEclipse for a while before moving on to another source control system. Here are the notes from our old install docs, they may be outdated, but this is how we connected to our VSS repository a couple of years ago (I have no idea what version):
The Visual Source Safe plug-in can be found here (http://sourceforge.net/projects/vssplugin/files/vssplugin/Version%201.6.2/org.vssplugin_1. 6.2.zip/download). To install this plug-in, simply extract the content of this zip file into your Eclipse installation’s plugins directory (i.e., "C:\Eclipse\plugins") ; you should now have a new folder named "org.vssplugin_1.6.2" in your plugins directory; restart Eclipse. (Note: You must also install the Visual Source Safe desktop client on your local machine for Eclipse to be able to interact with VSS)
Use the following steps to connect to a VSS repository.
Open Eclipse to your main Workspace and select "File > New > Project" from the top menu.
Select "CFEclipse > CFML Project" in the popup window.
For the project name, put whatever you want, uncheck "use default location", and specify where you want to check out your code. (i.e., "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\yoursite"); do not check "Add project to working sets"
You should now have a new project with only a ".project" file in it.
Right click on your project, and select "Team > Share Project".
Select "VSS Configuration Wizard" from the popup menu.
Enter your VSS username, password, and VSS Directory (path to your srcsafe.ini file); click "Finish".
Now you should be able to right click on your project again, select "Team", and have all of your VSS commands available (get latest, check in, check out, synchronize, etc…)

Help my safari doesnt open and gives me a crash report
help my safari doesn't open and gives me a crash report ever since i downloaded a file from the internet. I have a macbook air (early 2014) with running os x yosemite version 10.10.1
There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
if it's not already checked. -

I bought an Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter to connect my Macbook to a TV using normal video cable. When I connect the cable, my Laptop DIsplay gives a flickr once and then it shows nothing. I checked Display in the system preference where I don't get a secondary monitor option. My TV is panasonic and it's an old one. I work on Final Cut Pro and it's very very important to see my videos on a TV. What am I doing wrong with the connection? Anyone Please Please help...
Your probably not doing anything wrong. There are thousands of users with Similar issues and it seems to be with many different adapters.
We have Mini DP to VGA (3 different brands) and they all fail most of the time. This seems more prevalent with LCD Projectors. I've tested some (50+) with VGA Monitor (HP) and they all worked, LCD Projector (Epson, Hitachi, and Sanyo) and they all fail, DLP Projector (Sanyo) and one worked.
My Apple Mini DP to DVi works most of the time. My Mini DP to HDMI (Generic non Apple) works every time.
The general consensus is that Apple broke something in the OS around 10.6.4 or 10.6.5 and its not yet fixed. As we are a school we have logged a case with the EDU Support group so will see what happens.

ive got a 20" intel imac. i bought a mini dvi to video adapter.it said it works with the intel macs.
i maybe being a bit thick here but the end of the dvi seems to be a different size to the port on the mac.
please help....................You might find relief in the iMac Forum. Perhaps they will appreciate your distinctive thread header style more fully.

PSE icons instead of the photo. I need to view photos at a glance. Please help me????
Please help, this is driving me crazy. I have downloaded my free PSE #9, it came with my Leica Camera. I cannot view at a glance any of my photos. There is only an icon that reads, PSE. To view any of my photos, I must click select and then preview. This gets old, and I am doing 4 times the work. I am having to use the dates to guess where my photos might be. I hate this! My old Photo Shop #5 didn't do this. When you went to my pictures, you could see every photo.
I have tried the right click and open as any program. What ever program I choose, that is the icon that appears. No photo. Still no good.
Please help.

Are you using Windows Explorer to view the files?
If so, load Explorer, go to the Tools menu and select Folder Options.
Click on the View tab and make sure the first option (Always show icons, never thumbnails) is not checked.
Click on OK and see if that is any better.

IPOD NO LONGER RECOGNIZED BY ITUNES - HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When connecting to I-Tunes my Ipod now appears only as 'IPOD'
The Windows 'Autoplay' box appears on the left hand side of my screen.
Everything then freezes for a short while then an error message says that I-Tunes has detected an Ipod that is corrupted.
My Ipod itself is fine so I'm reluctant to restore if that will not solve the problem.
Is something to do with an automatic software update?
Please help......................

i have tried:
reloading itunes
unchecking 'write'
removing lower filters in regedit
ensuring i had the correct 'gear' info in the upper filters in regedit
removing 'gear' from regedit, system32
reloading updated version of 'gear'
cleaning my registery
deleting itunes
cleaning registry again
reloading itunes
cleaning registry again
i still cannot burn cd. t i can import and play cds in itunes and i can watch dvds. itunes will just not burn to blank cds, and i have tried sever new blank cds, each is not recognized.
i do not know what else to do, i have searched the internet and whatever i saw doable i tried.
when i check the cd drive in itunes i had gotten a 4220 error, cnet advised to download a free error fixer, however, this error fixer gave me and enduser message, so that didn't work.
the diagnostic for the cd burner read that i had to put in a formatted disc with content so i did and there are the results of that were that it read the cd and that the 4220 errir code was encountered last time there was an attempt to burn.
and 'could not open cd handler 32. there is a problem with the installation of the drive in windows or the drive contains a copyprotected cd.
the above is not the case as it also popped up for me to import cd to itunes.
i tried to copy and past the entire contents here but it would not allow me to paste.
please help!I too have only recently encountered this problem. I have been able to burn disks before but it keeps making all these weird sounds. It might be a hardware problem but the fact that everything else that uses a disk works I doubt it.

HELP! Can not install Oracle 8.1.5 w/ RedHat 6.1!
I can not get Oracle 8.1.5 to install onto Linux RedHat 6.1. The
Oracle installation script generates several errors. I have
tried several attempts, using different options, but they all
generate errors.
Please help. The Oracle Installation scripts appear to be very
buggy... or perhaps they are incompatible with the standard
RedHat 6.1 release. Either way, it is very frustrating.
I have documented one of my (failed) installation attempts below.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom?
I am installing Oracle onto a Dell Latitude CPi PC w/ 128MB RAM,
a 366MHz Pentium II, and RedHat 6.1 (using the standard Linux
2.2.12-2 kernel). RedHat was installed using the standard "Gnome
Workstation" configuration.
The Oralce CD is labeled:
"Oralce 8i Enterprise Edition
Release 8.1.5
for Linux
(c) Oracle Corporation 1999"
I got this CD about one week ago at Oracle OpenWorld '99 in Los
Angeles... it should be their "latest & greatest" version so far.
1. Pre-Installation and ./runInstall
I created an "oracle" Unix account w/ groups "oinstall" (the
primary group) and "dba" (a secondary group).
I created directories /u01 through /u04, belonging to oracle.
I setup .cshrc and sourced it, containing:
umask 022
setenv DISPLAY `hostname`:0
xhost +
setenv ORACLE_BASE /u01/app/oracle
setenv ORACLE_HOME ${ORACLE_BASE}/product/8.1.5
setenv ORACLE_SID cprtest

3. runIns.sh and root.sh
I selected the following options (from ./runIns.sh):

Typical (585MB)
Installable Components: Oralce Intelligent Agent 8.1.5.0.0

Then (when instructed by ./runIns.sh), I attempted to execute
(from the
"root" Unix account):

./root.sh
Problem: I got the error:
"bash: ./root.sh: Permission denied"
The execute bit was not set.
Workaround: I executed:
chmod a+x root.sh
./root.sh
5. Configuration Tools
The Oracle Installer (./runIns.sh) attempted to execute:
A. Net8 Configuration Agent
B. Oracle Database Configuration Agent
Problem: The "Oracle Database Configuration Agent" failed with
the following error message:
"One or more tools have failed. It is recommended but not
required that these tools succeed for this installation.
You can now select these tools, read its details to examine
why they have failed, fix those problems, and retry them.
Or, you can click "Next" to continue."
When I selected the "Oracle Database Configuration Agent" for
more info, I got the following additional details (as the cause
of the error):
"A required command line argument is missing."

problem. It appears to be an internal bug in ./runIns.sh.
Therefore, I selected "Next" and executed "dbassist" directly.
6. dbassist
I executed:
dbassist
Problem: I got the following error:
"JNLS Execution:oracle.ntpg.jnls.JNLSException
Unable to find any National Character Sets. Please
check your Oracle installation."
Workaround: Press "OK" and ignore the error.
7. dbassist (cont.)
I selected the following options:
Create database
Typical
Copy existing database files from the CD
Global Database Name: cprtest.parkrussell.com
SID: cprtest
Problem: I got the following error:
"CD-ROM drive not detected on this system.
Database not created."
(Note: I've been running the installation scripts from the
CDROM drive this entire time. "df" shows the CDROM drive
mounted on /mnt/cdrom. "ls /mnt/cdrom" works too.)
Workaround: Abort (which generated the additional error: "Unable
to create database. DBCA-00003: No CD-ROM drive detected.") and
run dbassist again, this time using different parameters.
8. dbassist, again
I executed "dbassist" again and selected the following options:
Create database
Typical
Create new database files
Hybrid
Concurrently connected users: 5
Options: Oralce interMedia, Oralce JServer, and iM demos
Global Database Name: cprtest2.parkrussell.com
SID: cprtest2
Create database now
Problem: I got the following error:

I can't fathom why Oracle's installation script has so many bugs.
Am I just doing something terribly wrong?

nullI'm using enlightenment version 0.15.5-41, which is more recent
than the 0.15.5-37 version (containing the Oracle installer
patch) that you recommended. Unfortunately, it fails when using
this version.
I also tried installing Oracle using twm, with enlightenment
disabled. This didn't help either.
Furthermore, the errors that I'm encountering in the OUI are
not just toward the end of the installation. They happen from
the very beginning, right after I enter "./runInstall", and
continue every step of the way.

Pixma ip4600 cd issues on Mac OS X

Show volume size in Lion? Snow Leopard showed the amount of space available on mounted volumes in the Finder. I can't find how to do that in Lion. Get Info works, but I'd like to see available space when I open a drive or volume/
