CFimage patch 71557, is it in a Hotfix too?

I am trying to determine if our server has the CFImage patch 71557. I've been told we installed Cumulative Hotfix 4, which should have taken care of it, but I can't find any documentation to support that.

At one point that information could all be found in a huge XML file to support MBSA and HFNetChk by Shavlik. I haven't looked at the most recent implementation of MBSA but I do know that a later implementation of MBSA forced Shavlik to drop support
for HFNetChk. I don't know if they have done anything as a substitute.

ConfigMgr 2012 R2 CU1 Client Installation fails during OSD Patch error 1635

Senario:
Single Primary Site A00, offloaded MP. R2 CU1 patch installed on primary site. Seperate "client with hotfix" package and distributed to offloaded DP.
OSD Task Sequence Installs the client fine as can be seen in the ccmsetup.log file ""<![LOG[CcmSetup is exiting with return code 0]LOG]!><time="15:18:34.414-120" date="05-27-2014"

Error in the repair-msi log states, "Unable to create a temp copy of patch 'C:\_SMSTASKSEQUENCE\OSD\A0000101\X64\HOTFIX\KB2938441\CONFIGMGR2012AC-R2-KB2938441-X64.MSP'." " MainEngineThread is returning 1635"
By creating a share on the primary site and referencing the share as the patch loacation solves the issue.

Obviously its not ideal for the CU1 client msp to be installed over the WAN. Can anyone explain why:
1. The client seems to need a repair
2. Cannot access the MSP file when available locally on the client in the "'C:\_SMSTASKSEQUENCE" folder.

Cannot browse server following installation of hotfix 4 to Cold Fusion 9.0.1

I've been tasked with updating a ColdFusion 9.0.1 installation to the latest patches. I've started with Hotfix 4. The installation appeared to go OK, and the services started after I applied the update. However, when I went to moved onto the next update (APSB13-10) starting by browsing to the update file I ran into a problem. When I click on the "browse server" button to locate the .jar file for the next update I encounter an error: "Unable to authenticate on RDS server using current security information". I've also found that if I try to put the full path into the Update File line and hit "Submit Changes" it errors.
This seems to be the same problem as http://forums.adobe.com/message/5256752#5256752, but there's no solution to the problem in that discussion.
I've checked the RDS settings, and RDS is unchecked. I notice that this screen is different from the pre-upgrade screen, but this seems to be as a result of, I think, APSB13-03, which is included in HotFix 4. If I try to make any changes on this screen it errors and logs me out of the Cold Fusion administrator. I've tried commenting out the RDS section in the web.xml file, but this gives me a different error.
I'm doing this on an isolated test server which has no access to the network. If I revert to the snapshot I took before the upgrade attempt ColdFusion runs as expected.
Any ideas what might be the problem? Thanks in advance.

In case it helps anyone I've realised what I was doing wrong here.
The main “problem” was that one of the updates included in Cumulative Hotfix 4 is APSB13-03 (http://helpx.adobe.com/coldfusion/kb/coldfusion-security-hotfix-apsb13-03.html). I knew this changed the behaviour of RDS but my knowledge prior to this work of ColdFusion and in particular RDS was very limited, and so I didn't understand the implications of this hotfix. What this update does is disable RDS by default; I wasn't really aware what the RDS status of my server was prior to the update, partly because before this update there is no "disable RDS" tick box to show whether it is enabled or disabled. With RDS disabled, you can't browse as the update instructions require you to do. Obviously RDS was enabled on my setup without me realising it.
My understanding of this wasn't helped by the fact that when I tried to paste a path into the box and hit the "update" button I got a different error, which I described in my original post. Similarly if I tried to change RDS settings, or do pretty much anything in the administrator, it failed and logged me out in the same way. It seemed to me that the whole thing was broken by the updates and I didn't know how to fix it.
So, following the excellent advice of Charlie Arehart in two articles: http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2010/12/12/cfmyths_cumulative_hotfixes and http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2011/10/21/why_chfs_may_break, I went back to the start and installed the cumulative hotfixes one by one. Although I don't think I actually needed to do this, as Hotfix 4 seems to contain all the previous hotfixes, it did help me realise that the browsing/RDS issue and the error and logout when I tried to do anything in the administrator were two different problems. After further bit of googling I found people suggesting that you should use https to access the administrator, but the shortcut I had was taking me to http (as far as I know I was using the default shortcut). I found that by going to https the problem of being logged out when trying to do anything disappeared and I could put a UNC path in to update the .jar file for the next update. I also was now able to enable RDS for single password and could browse like the hotfix instructions advise. I've since disabled RDS and accepted the inability to browse as a "feature", happy that it's more secure as a result.
So my “problems” were largely self-inflicted due to my own ignorance of the product, but it wasn’t helped by Adobe’s apparent inability to grasp that there may be similarly ignorant people attempting these updates. It would have been nice to see some guidance from them. Furthermore, the cumulative hotfix 4 page (http://helpx.adobe.com/coldfusion/kb/cumulative-hotfix-4-coldfusion-901.html) doesn’t even mention RDS, let alone that the default behaviour changes. It’s only when you check the individual hotfix information that you can see the information that helped me to realise where I was going wrong.
As for using https not http; great, but if I’m right that my shortcut is the default out-of-the-box shortcut, where’s the information to advise to change to using https as a result of one of the hotfixes included in hotfix 4 (originally, I think, hotfix 2)? It’s certainly not mentioned on the page for cumulative hotfix 4.

How do I continue failed patch 6678700 when it quits because of another pat

I am in the process of upgrading EBS 11.5.10.2 to 12i using document Part No. E16342-03, Note 761570.1& Note 881505.1.
On Part No. E16342-03, I am at Step 10 3:10. Run the American English upgrade patch driver (required), after attempting to resolve a "FAILED: file fem_bal_nacc_hier_l2_mv.xdf on worker 1" as per doc ID 1284055.1, and upon restarting Patch 6678700, all workers quit and adpatch exited after running for over 30 hours.
An attempt to restart "adpatch options=nocopyportion,nogenerateportion" keeps failing as adpatch keeps giving the errors (This patch cannot be applied to your current release.) I had when I ran patch 10406817.
How do I run adpatch so that it continues with patch 6678700 - where it failed? I am running out of time to start this long patch from the beginning?
How long could usually take on an averagely fast server, to install this patch?

As per the doc, you should have skipped the failed worker and continue with the upgrade patch then apply the patch in the doc.

CM installation on EP SP 2 Patch 28

Hi all,
I am using EP 6.0 SP 2 upgraded to patch 28 (the same PL to J2EE too) but with no KM.
I want to install CM& Collaboration. Is that possible for the installation (starting with the installation CD of CM& Collaboration) not to work because of the already applied patches of J2EE and EP?

Hi Raluca,
1. There should be no problem installing directly CM & Collaboration Patch 4 from CD 51030419 and then patching to the newest version as mentioned in my previous post. Please read the SAP Note 754962, for additional information concerning installation problems with CD 51030491.
2. It's very important to first Patch J2EE Engine, then Portal Platform and only after that to patch CM & Collaboration to PL 29.
3. You can install TREX before or after CM,so no problem installing it after CM & Collaboration works fine.

HELP - Mac won't reboot after latest Apple patches!

Just came home and started doing some work when the software updates asked to install 4 or 5 patches for my Mac. I accepted and the install was done in less than 10 min. Time for a restart.
Well it did not come back after that. After the standard power on sound, the dark gray apple apears on light background and thats it. I have been waiting for some 15 min and nothing.
Did a hard shutdown (the only thing it would do) and a reboot into my secondary HD through an 'option' boot.
Checked the files system on the main hard drive with the disk tool: clean
Ran Disk Warrior: clean
Another attempt to reboot: same thing - it hangs with the Apple on the screen.
1.) HELP - what can I do to make my Mac boot again?
2.) If you run a mirrored door dual G4 1.25Ghz you might want to stay away from the latest Apple patches.

Hi, it maybe "too late" to ask now, but did you Repair Disk Permission before doing the updates, and after the (auto) restart, did you do another Repair Permission and then restart again?? And in this whole process of updating, especially Apple OS, Security Updates and Apps Updates, did you unplug all the external devices??
I know on the net some "schools" say there is no need to do this, and that you can run apps in the background and still do the Software Updates; I beg to differ, then you'll see lots of posts here asking for help, and at the same time cursing and swearing at Apple.
I just did my latest updates, and my iMac is running just fine.
So pardon me, and I apologise for nagging, but don't blame Apple or someone else when your mac acts up because you did not even prepare the basic procedures. Ask yourself this very simple question, if you are ill and taking medication, would you take it down with alcoholic drink?? Which may worsen your body situation?? Maybe it's not a very good example.
fxstein, sorry there, not here to lecture you or "tell you so", but am here to help, but I've just seen too many posts complaining of updates went wrong only to find out they did not do the necessary preparations.
If you can't boot from your problematic primary drive, try booting from your secondary, thank gosh you got one, and see if you can Repair Permission and also Repair Disk of the Primary Drive. Another way is to see if you can boot up from your OS disc and do the same, see if you can revive or repair your drive.
If still cannot, see if you can Safe Boot, (press Shift key) while booting, if you can, most likely some StartupItems may have been corrupted or something, the only thing you can do now is to backup your important data and then do an Archive and Install option.

Cannot locate custom controller class after applying OIE.K patch.

I am trying to search all the region level personalizations(on Update Allocations Page in iExpenses while creating Expense Reports) to find out where our custom controller class is being called(it was personalized at site level). But no luck until now.
Nevertheless, we were able to locate our custom controller class in an instance where the OIE.K oracle patch was not applied. Seems like after applying this patch, the seeded region names are changed too. Our custom code also works but cannot figure out where our CO is being called.
Any suggestions please?

Using "About the Page" link on UpdateExpenseAllocationsPG, I found SplitCriteriaTblCO controller class instead of UpdateKffCO class, that was extended to HumUpdateKffCO custom class.
Our custom code is still intact even though we do not find our custom CO. Probably we have to look elsewhere to find it, no idea!.
I just need to know how to remove our iExpense extension. In order to remove the iExpense extensions in the instance where the OIE.K was not applied, we just removed the personalization at site level, where the controller HumUpdateKffCO was called and that took care of it.

CF8.01 ImagePaste 500 error

I'm tearing my hair out now, been trying to fix this problem for over a week.
- Pages using the imagepaste function are throwing a 500 error.
- this behaviour just started apparently out of the blue for no reason, no updates were performed, function was fine for a year +
- since then, I have: updated Java 1.6.0_26 , applied the cumulative hot fix 4 [8,0,1,195765] & applied the cfimage patch [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403411.html]
- still getting the same issue. on the first attempt to run the imagepaste function I get the first stack trace below, on every subsequent attempt I get the second trace.
the common thing that keeps popping up is "Could not initialize class javax.media.jai.JAI" - how do I find where/why this is not being initialized? is it a file somewhere a class in a file - could it be permissions?

Having a furious problem with this CF8 install and image functions, most image functions [imagepaste(), etc] will throw a 500 error:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class javax.media.jai.JAI
other functions will not, it seems that functions that have to actually manipulate or change the image in some way fail with a 500 error, images that return information about an image run fine.
the server is a centos DV at mediatemple, CF has been patched with the cumulative HF4, & the image function hotfix. Still got errors. I've tried updating to jdk 1.6.0_24, downgrading as well! I've even tried placing new jai_*.jar jar files in the class path.
It was working fine for 2+ years, then just one day stopped working, no updates were performed before it died, nothing.

Using formula field as parameter to subreport fails

Anyone passing formula fields to subreport to feed into a SQL stored proc? I'm using Crystal XI to develop the report and I haven't consistently been able to get it to work.
The main report is essentially a shell to call the subreport. I have created a variable to store the currentceusername value so it can be passed to the subreport as a parameter. This doesn't work immediately since I get the error message "Database connector error '42000:[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Procedure or Function 'usp_PG0123...' expects parameter '@username', which was not supplied. [Database vendor code: 201]
But I have set up that parameter in the Subreport Link. My workaround is to edit the subreport, refresh the report and enter the parameters to the subreport to retrieve data. Close the subreport and the main report will now function properly and pass the data to the subreport.
After it is working locally in my CR XI, I save the report to the BOE XI server. Running the report on the server I get "Error in file reportnamerpt: Database Connector Error". My local copy of CR XI is patched with the latest SP and hotfixes. Our BOE XI server is on SP3 with hot fixes.
I can't figure out what I'm not doing right... I have been constantly removing and re-creating the subreport and re-creating the sublinks. This error does not occur if I replace the formula field with a regular parameter in the main report to feed to the subreport.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I know this can be done, because that's basically how I pass multiple-selection parameters to an SQL Command.
The only thing I can think of is if the data types of the formula field is not exactly the same as the database parameter, Crystal may drop the link or something. That's pretty much a WAG, but it's something...

i have a coldfusion 8.0.1 multi-instance installation, but one of our 4 instance, from about a week, has a strange behaviour when i click on the "Settings Summary" in the CFIDE administration console.. it start to print out all the summary informations, but when it start to print out the section "Java and JVM" it will throw this error:

I tried restarting the coldfusion instance but didn't solved.. all the instance have the same patch level (8.0.1 cumulative hotfix 4), jrun4 updater 7, and use the same jdk (1.6.0_15)
The strange things are that in the others instance, in the setting summary, i don't have a section "Java and JVM", and the paths indicated in the error details "E:\cf8_updates\cfusion\wwwroot\CFIDE\adminapi\runtime.cfc" are not existing.. we are on unix (solaris10), so i don't know where come from this "E:\"
We already had this problem with another instance, sometimes ago, and we "solved" recreating a new instance and applying again the same settings.. but i prefer to find a solution to this problem instead of recreating a new one again..
any suggestions is appreciated

Well, I will just say that I can't see how CB running on the instance can have any impact on the CF Admin running.
As for the problem, perhaps others will have more thoughts. I myself would want to confirm your conclusion that it's the right CFIDE.
You could do that a couple of ways. One is to double-check your observations of the configuration, but even then I'd go a step further and do something to prove it's using what you think. One "hack" way would be to rename a file you know you're calling, and confirm you get an error.
A more sophisticated (less obtrusive) way would be to use the CF Enterprise Server Monitor (since you're running Multiserver mode, which means you have CF Enterprise), since it shows the filenames of the requests that are executed. You'd have to change its settings to allow tracking of the Admin, and then change the slowest requests page to lower the time to 0 seconds. I talk about both things in the 4-part series I did for the Adobe Dev Center on the Server Monitor (starting at http://www.carehart.org/articles/#2007_2).
You could even go so far (in a situation like this) as to use the CF debugger, to watch the flow of execution through pages, but that would be overkill to try to setup just for this particular problem if you don't already use it. (Also, most of the CF admin files are precompiled, so you can't see the CFML source and debug them anyway.)
There are a lot of other things we could try to suggest. It may involve a lot of back and forth, and sometimes trying to resolve such a problem over email this way can be tedious.
It may be one of those situations where it would be in your interest to bring someone in to remotely assist (over the web, using Adobe Connect--no firewall issues, no need to allocate a remote desktop account.) I provide such services, as do others, as I list in a category of my CF411 site: http://www.cf411.com/#cfassist. It might take someone experienced with evaluating such problems only 10-20 minutes to better understand and resolve the problem. Delegated Admin 1.2p1

After de-installing iDA1.2 and installing iDA1.2p1, I am now getting the following error, when modifying/adding alternate mail addresses to users in my domain:

Does anyone have any ideas? I am using DS5.1p2, Messaging 5.2p1 and have a replicated DS. I installed the patched version on my master and 2 others, until I found the problem. My 3rd NDA still works fine, it's running iDA1.2, no patch.
I also tried installing hotfix 1.6, given to me by tech support, but that didn't change anything.

Yep. That's a "feature" of 1.2p1. Alternate addresses must be in the domain.

Getting "Unknown Error has Occurred" After Project Server 2013 DB Restore

Hi All,
I have restored our content and pwa databases as per Microsoft's guide, one Project Web App works fine and the other has the error "An Unknown Error has Occurred" on the projects view and also when viewing Enterprise Project Types.
Another thing I have noticed is that only the Sys Admin has access to the project sites even though users have been added as admins etc.
We are patched to the December 2013 CU / Hotfix and I have also run the provided service scripts by Microsoft to go with the hotfix.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as we are looking to test SP1 and apply to our production environment.

PowerShell has a command called. Test-SPContentDB.
Run the TEST-SPContentDB powershell command on database and see if it provides additional information.

Launch of new NW2004s-BI Frontend from transaction rrmx

Hi,
my customer has upggraded to NW2004s. We are on Support Package 7. The NW2004s-BI Frontend is FEP701.
When I enter transaction <rrmx> the "old" BW 3.5 Bex Frontend launches.
Is there a way to have <rrmx> call the new NW2004s-BI frontend?
I have been toggling the "Launch Legacy Version from RRMX" flag on and off in the new NW2004s BI Frontend but nothing but the 3.5 Analyzer lauches?
Can you help with that issue?

You have installed NetWeaver 2004s BI Add-On Frontend Patch 700, and you need a hotfix (advance correction) for certain problems that are caused by the BI Add-On (frontend).
This note will be updated as solutions for newly detected problems are available. Hence you should check the actuality of this note, if you have already applied hotfixes for the patch level of your BI Add-On.
Solution
Attached to this note you will find frontend components (DLL files) that correct certain errors. You will find a list and descriptions of solved problems in the following. It is recommended to replace all respective DLLs in the setup directory of the BI Add-On with the attached DLLs. However, you can also selectively replace individual DLLs that are required for the solution of problems that you encountered. In the following it is described which DLLs are required to solve specific problems.

In variable editor for Formula variables replaced by attribute value there were not offered all possible numeric variables offered. This caused a runtime error if especially variables created with Query Designer 3.x were edited. This is corrected now (updated 23 May 2006)
Due to a program error any saved formula might have been saved incorrectly, if it is using any variables (formula or text variables). This is a critical error which might lead to not understandable error messages during query execution or missing text variable replacement for formulas. The error is corrected the was that any corrupt query can be loaded and after a save it is repaired. We strongly recommend to use this hotfix for all installations!
SAP Business Explorer Report Designer
Introduced Versioning and added Version checks. More recent versions of Report Designer are able to design reports with new features. If such a report is edited with an older version of Report Designer some design features might be lost in the report or loading the report might not be possible.
Images from Mime repository can be added to the report.
Sequence of Report Sections is saved and loaded in the right order.
Query Text Elements for more than one Dataprovider are correctly dsiplayed in the Report Item. Property Dialog shows the name of the Dataprovider of the selected Text Element.
Conditional Formatting for Hierarchy nodes enabled.

Reason and Prerequisites
You have installed NetWeaver 2004s BI Add-On Front End Patch 02 and you require advance corrections for certain problems that are caused by the BI Add-On (front end).
Solution
You can find front end components (DLLs) that correct the errors described below attached to this note. We recommend that you replace all attached DLLs in the setup directory of the BI Add-On. However, you can also replace only those DLLs required to correct a problem that occurred in your system. The following sections describe which DLLs correct which problems.
The Open/Save dialog and the input help dialog are components that are used by several SAP Business Explorer applications. Therefore, check whether the correction of a problem that occurred in one of the applications is described there.
SAP Business Explorer Web Application Designer
 Up to now, there are no advance corrections.
SAP Business Explorer Analyzer and variable screen
 To correct the problems in the Analyzer and the variable screenthat are described here, the files BExApi.dll, BExAddin.dll, BExAnalyzer.xla, BExVariableScreen.dll, BExLocalFormulaParser.dll, BExQueryDesigner.dll, BExSelectorAPI.dll and BExSelectorDialog.dll are required.
In the variable screen, the formats for the calendar year and calendar month characteristics have not been transferred correctly to the server. As a result, error messages occurred during the check.
When deleting an item in design mode, the system did not remove the displayed data of the item in analysis mode, rather it still displayed this data.
The display of the checkbox item and the radio button item has been corrected.
Errors occurred when you saved variants on the variable screen. All known errors have been corrected.
The security certificate for the Analyzer has expired and the advance corrections contain a new security certificate.
SAP Business Explorer Query Designer
 To correct the problems in the Query Designer that are described here, the files BExQueryDesigner.dll, BExSelectorAPI.dll and BExSelectorDialog.dll are required.
Executing in the Web no longer opens different browser windows, rather the system always uses the same one.
In certain cases, queries that contain attributes were not saved correctly and as a result, they could not be loaded. This problem has been corrected in all known the cases.
In certain cases, queries that contain cells were not saved correctly and as a result, they could not be loaded. This problem has been corrected in all known the cases.
If queries are saved incorrectly (for example with incorrect attributes or incorrect cells), the system issues messages for all cells that are incorrect and it refers to a possible solution. Currently, all text messages are in English and they will be translated in Support Package Stack 8.
You can now insert and resort attributes at any position. You can do this using drag and drop or cut and paste.
Formula variables with replacement path now also permit the setting of the dimension.
If you edited attributes for an object and you then saved your changes immediately without exiting the field, the system did not save the change in this field. This problem has now been corrected.
Texts of attributes are now displayed correctly after you load the query again (up to now, the system displayed only technical names).
Constant selection was not displayed correctly in the context menu of a selection. Now, the system displays a checkmark to indicate that constant selection is activated.
Attributes of display hierarchies are now displayed and saved correctly.
The system no longer displays operators twice in technical names in formulas. Up to now, [+] + was displayed.
The system no longer displays UIDs as technical names for structure items and cells in formulas.
Structures with hierarchical structure items: In certain cases, structure elements disappeared during the hierarchical setup. However, these were saved and they caused an endless loop on the server. This problem has been corrected. You can use the BEx Query Designer to open queries that were saved with these "vanished" structure elements and the "vanished" structure elements are displayed again.
Errors and terminations on the server now cause a message in the message window of the BEx Query Designer telling you to close and to restart the BEx Query Designer.
For variables with replacement path, the system displayed too many characteristics (some technical characteristics) for the replacement characteristic. This problem has been corrected.
Further consistency checks have been implemented and the corresponding messages are displayed in the message list. The system now checks not only queries but it also checks restricted and calculated key figures, variables, and cells.
If you change a reusable element, the system does not save it automatically. An information message is displayed telling the user that saving the element may affect other queries. You can save the element normally using a save function in the context menu. If the element is used in the query, it is always saved with the query.
When you exit the BEx Query Designer, the system checks which reusable elements have not yet been saved. The system displays a list containing all unsaved elements and it asks the user whether these elements should be saved.
There is a new menu function "Save All" that saves all changed reusable elements.
When you select text variables, the system now displays the correct variable type "Text variable" in the selection.
You were able to use cut and paste for conditions and exceptions, but this always caused a runtime error. The functions have been deactivated for the moment to avoid program terminations.
You can now define variables with a replacement from an attribute.
You can now also display only posted values in the value help (read mode D).
For text and formula variables with replacement path, you can no longer create on the technical characteristic 1TEXT or 1FORMULA. Any existing variables (that were created with earlier versions) are reported as incorrect and you should delete them.
For restricted or calculated key figures or for variables, if you made changes and you saved these changes online and confirmed with OK, the system sometimes issued message "Not saved - object is not changeable". This problem has been corrected.
When creating new reusable elements, the system only checked if the user was authorized to create new elements for this InfoProvider, but it did not check whether the user was authorized to create elements with the given technical name. This problem has been corrected.
You can now move and copy cells using cut and paste and copy and paste. Unfortunately, you still cannot use drag and drop.
In formulas, multiline headers of structure elements are correctly displayed in single lines and no longer in several lines.
In certain cases, hierarchy node variables were saved without a corresponding hierarchy assignment and you could not use them in the report that was being executed.
After each time you saved data, the context menu of the currently selected object was incorrect. This problem has been corrected.
You could not delete filter values directly in the BEx Query Designer, rather you had to do this in the filter dialog.
You could not change characteristics of attributes.
The system now issues a corresponding success message after each successful saving process.

 To correct the problems in the value help dialog that are described here, the files BExQueryDesigner.dll, BExSelectorAPI.dll and BExSelectorDialog.dll are required.
You can now edit variables in the value help for all variable types and not only for characteristic value variables.

When changing an offset, negative offsets are displayed as -5 and no longer as 5-. Variable offsets are displayed directly in the right area of the value help.
Variables as the to-value of intervals no longer cause terminations.
In the value range editor, the value you entered manually was not transferred if you directly chose the transfer arrow.
In the value help for reference characteristics, the system did not display the variables for basic characteristics and therefore there were usually fewer variables than in the BEx Query Designer.
When you select the hierarchy, the system now correctly displays the date and version variables and no longer hierarchy variables as was incorrectly the case before.
When you call the value help from the variable entry screen, the system sometimes displayed all master data values (read mode "M") even though it should only display posted values (read mode "D"). This problem has been corrected.

RX3870-T2D512E-OC v102 and v803

Hi,
I've got a pair of RX3870-T2D512E-OC, one is a v803, the ohter is v120
- On the v803, I have to edit the BIOS with "Radeon BIOS Editor" (http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1016/TechPowerUp_Radeon_Bios_Editor_v1.08.html)
and change the threshold from 73°C to 35°C , because temperature increase up to 80°C (without over clocking)
Results : going back to original BIOS because it's not stable (crash / black screen => reset)
Card still very hot : waiting for fireman

Reason : the fan allways at 80% like a vacuum cleaner : after flasing it's OK.
I bought this cards not at the same time, but when I saw the price decrease, I bought a second one to make crossfire.
But no chance : I run VISTA, the crossfire is detected, but NOT working : I have same performance with one or two cards with windows indice (maybe it is wrong ?), and bridge is connected, dual VGA activated in the motherboard BIOS.
I have patch with SP1, trying to patch with Microsoft SLI and CrossFire HotFIX (KB936710), but still not working.... no difference.
I will test in the next days with Windows XP, to see if the problem comes from VISTA.
Be carreful with bios flasing..... v120 and v803 are NOT the same card and BIOS are different : allways make backup before.

Yes i've noticed that, but they still have to use the same driver. It can happend that catalyst update driver for the one of the cards only.

During the patch install, juste before continuing with Control Center install, I forced driver "Radeon HD 3870" (driver v8.471.1.1000) instead of "Radeon HD 3800 series" which is automaticaly installed by catalyst for one VGA card : now drivers are the same for both cards.
But allways one card in catalyst.
I tried to shutdown tne PC and change the monitor plug to the 2nd VGA card : The VGA n°2 appears in catalyst (replace the n° 1).
So the card present in catayst list depends on the VGA pluged to the monitor.
Confirmation : when a 2nd monitor is pluged (both cards are connected to a monitor), and Windows desktop is extended to the 2nd monitor, then two cards are present in catalyst.
Crossfire could work, but I think that the bottleneck is my motherboard (when dual card => PCI-e at 2x 8X due to chipset limitation).
Now "Crysis Demo SP" in 1280x1024 (high) without AA is correct.
For people who want to look into 3870 bios settings, TechPowerUp has released the "Radeon Bios Editor v1.09"
When editing your bios, you can see how fan and thermal regulation works.

Then, you can verify that regulation isn't the same for v120 and v803
As a result :
v803 is more stable with original BIOS (modify = hang)
