CFMX 7.1 Multi-server on a Shared Drive

Question

Before I actually go ahead and spend the time actually trying
to configure this to test, I figured I'd throw this out to the
community to see if this is something that is even possible.
If I configured 2 physically separate servers with CFMX
7/JRun4 and setup my application instance on both so that they both
used the same directory on a shared disk (NFS Mount).... and then
configured a cluster with both instances in it...
Would they act as if they were "session replicating"? i.e.
the session information stored on the disk would be available to
both of them simultaneously wouldn't they?
Or am I totally delusional?

Ok, that makes the rationale a little clearer - you may still
find more headaches going with a file system solution, but I will
conceed that using the database for session management presents its
own set of hurdles.
Are you running a robust enough database that the following
might be a possible session-management option?
1 - customer comes to the site and gets a sessionid
2 - sessionid is placed in a session struct, serialized and
stored in the database
3 - a session cookie is stamped to the user's browser
containing a key to the session struct
4 - on each request, the users's session cookie is examined
and compared to the information in the database
5 - if the user's session exists in the database but not on
the server (i.e. a failover happened), the session struct gets
restored from the database
I know this is a very rough outline, but it might achieve
what you want without treading on the NFS at all.
