CFP 2000 flashing

Good Morning
I have problem in cFP2000, it was working fine for long and now the status LED keeps blinking(somtimes continuously blinks and sometimes 2 blinks). when it is rebooted it worked fine for about a day and then the same problem coming up.
I had similar issue in different cFP last year, after a while the problem was fixed(due to pwer supply, voltage was less than 24V-after changed to new power supply it works fine) but now the voltage seems to be Ok.
Help me on this issue pls
Thanks

Veeru,
The link below is the manual for the cFP 2000.  Page A-1 displays what the LED indications mean.
http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/02520B8AA78AA2D186256E6900724A0Bhttp://digital.ni.com/ma...
Can you confirm which blinking type of LED you are seeing?
You mentioned that you have fixed the issue in the passed with a new power supply.  Is that power supply still available so you can test it with this unit?
What modules are plugged into the cFP unit? Does the issue still occur if you disconnect all extra modules?

  • Cannot detect CFP 2000 on network

    Hi
I am trying to detect a CFP 2000 device in the measurement and automation explorer software, the device and PC are on the same subnet and no firewalls are present yet there is nothing to select under remote systems.
When I switch the device on the status LED is continuous, then after 5-10 seconds flashes continuously. I have tried the reset IP switch then resetting but this does not work either.
I am new to using NI equipment but have been informed the device was working fine 4 weeks ago, and no changes have taken place since.  Any suggestions to get it working again?
    Thanks for the help
    Ashley

Thank you for the quick reply.  The status LED is continuously flashing and appears to be in no sequence, looking at the manual (quote below) this seems like there is no IP address assigned although according to the network administrator this should happen automatically.
"After about five seconds, the STATUS LED begins flashing. The cFP-20xx is ready to be configured, and you can install the FieldPoint
software.  If you have already assigned an IP address to the cFP-20xx, the STATUS LED turns off, the I/O module READY LEDs come on, and the cFP-20xx
is ready for use. The total boot time for a configured system is 30–45 seconds."

  • Repaired cfp-421 relay boards not working in a cfp-2000 System - power light off

Hi, we are using a cfp-2000 as a control system for various biology related experiments and prototypes.
The first configuration was controlling valves & pumps. I recently took that configuration apart after it had been sitting unused for a while and started to re-configure for a different application to control lights. I had trouble right off the bat, couldn't talk to the cfp-2000 controller. I sent it in for repair\replace and then went through a little work to re-setup in MAX. I got the IP connection working and I can turn on\off the leds on the cfp-2000.
Then I found that the three cfp-421 relay boards were not working. So I sent them in for repair. They came back but when I add them to the Remote System in MAX, I can't communicate with them. There is a message indicating that they are not connected (I don't have the exact wording but can get it if that will help). The Ready indicator is on at the cfp-421 modules but the Power indicator is off. I tried all three returned modules individually with no luck.
Any help is appreciated. We have spent quite a lot of money on repairs and have fallen behind on the project.
    Thank you. Kevin

    Thanks for responding.
    MAX version 3.1.0.3021
    Fieldpoint drivers 5.02
The messages are "The module or item addressed does not exist" and "The device is offline. Make sure the device is connected and its power is on".
If I reset the cfp-2000, all relays activate on the cfp-421 (the eight indicator lamps light) for a few seconds and then go off.
I wonder if something is broken in the backplane because the cfp-421
    power light is off.

  • Having problems with my CFP 2000

Once I download my VI. using file transfer I cannot get the CFP2000 to start running on its own. I still must start with exe.? Which means that I am using the exe. still instead of the memory in the CFP2000. If I unplug the ethernet connection from the computer to the CFP2000, The PAC will lock up. I use Labview 8.0 with 5.0.1 FeildPoint software. Has anyone else experienced this?
    Craig

    Hi!
In MAX there's an option, Halt system if TCP/IP fails , in cFP module configuration, have you checked or unchecked it?
About the downloading of an exe, can you clarify the steps you make to download application in your cFP-2000?
I actually am using LV 7.1, I hope  there's not much difference with 8.0 you're using....

  • Fluctuation in reading millivolt using AI 600 and cFP 2000

I have an application based in data acquisition.cFP 2000 and AIO 600 are the hardwares used and im giving 16.2 millivolt from a battery powered millivolt source. If i am reading the millivolt using a digital multimeter it shows constant reading of 16.2.
The AIO channel is configured for 0..6 Volt...and if i am reading the millivolt signal using FP read function it shows fluctuations as in the attached file. There is no issue of earthing problems as its in office environment and the earthing is good.Again we have changed the power supply ...still the same result.......So can any one sort out the problem.......

    I'm sorry......
I did further investigating do to some other "characteristics" of the problem and found a second incident of one of the loops (a separate VI) sitting underneath one of my loops.  I deleted it and everything runs fine now.  Please forgive me my sudden loss of intelligence.

  • CFP-2000 can't find modules on bank

    Hello,
I'm using this cFP-2000 for a while, and now I have another problem:
The cFP-2000 cannot find any module connected to it, when I go to MAX and ask to find devices, all I got is the controller itself.
I already did change the IP, the power supply, format the field point and install old drivers, but nothing changed.
The LED "Ready" on the modules remain off, only the "Power" LED is ON the entire time.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm completely sorry, Abel_Souza, but we're in the middle of something big and I could not stop the system for a detailed analisys until now.
It seems that the cFP-2000 can only operate the module on the first position of the bank, any module inserted here works, but when it comes to another slot it won't turn on the "Ready" LED and can't be identified on MAX.
The report is provided in the attachment.
I hope you can help me with that.
    Greetings,
    Tassio Borges.

  • CFP 2000

I am working on project which use cFP 2000 controller with backplane having 8 slots.
I have to control 4 RS 232 serial devices using cFP 2000.
I have problem regarding controlling RS 232 devices.
Is it possible to increase the number of serial port using some connector block.
If yes could you please let me know the name of that connector block.
I will be very thankful for your help.

    Hello,
there is no connector block available which will give you the desired functionality.
Your Controller has got one RS232 Port (the cFP2010 has two and the cFP2020 has three RS232 Ports).
A possible solution would be to use the CompactRIO System.
There are four port RS232 - modules available for this system.
If you have further questions feel free to contact the responsible field representative.
I hope i could help you and wish you a nice day!

  • Connect CFP-2000 with Measurement Studio

Hi, I haven't understood how to connect a CFT-2000 module with Measurement Studio and VC++.
Can any one help me to find documentation and sample related this task?
    I'm  interested into this topics:
    - is it possible to manage a CFT-2000 ethernet device with MAX? In ordere to use that device can i use DAQmx?
    - which  kind of data I will recive over ethernet raw, scaled..
    - is it possible to select one particular board of AI?
    - is it possible to execute multiple applictions (LabView and  Measeurement Studio) connected with the same CFTP-2000 controller into one PC?
    Thanks

    Dear Bobby60,
First of all I suggest you this FAQ.
You can connect and configure cFP 2000 from MAX through NI-Field Point and Labview Real Time.
You have to use Labview Real Time to program an application on the cFP 2000.
Comms to Labview and Measurement Studio can be realized through OPC Shared Variable and TCP/IP. In the last option you will have to program your own server in labview RT and deal with multiple client stuff.

  • Spikes in readings from cFP-2000

    Hello,
I'm hoping some one will be able to help with a problem we are experiencing with our temperature and voltage measurements. We are noticing large spikes in temperature being logged that are not physically possible, and hence must be some form of interference effect. The spike seem to be entirely random, and I can't seem to be able to replicate the problem. They may happen once a week on average, and its not at the same time every week so its not as if another event is causing it.
    Our setup is:
    - Type-R thermocouples connected to TC-125 modules via compensating cable (some via long runs)
    - 3 cFP-2000 units in an enclosure, with power supplied by individual Quint 24VDC power supplies. These are connected to the mains via a UPS.
    - Also there are AI-110 modules connected to the same field point banks. These also seem to be affected too. These monitor -/+10V voltages from LVDT signal conditioning, and the cabling come in through the same bunch of cables as the thermocouple compensating cable.
    - Each thermocouple is connected in parallel to a Eurotherm process controller (2416 and 3216 models) and the cFP.
    - The LabView software is set to take a reading every 10 seconds, so I presume the spikes we are seeing are when we've been unlucky enough to catch when the interference is happening.
I'm hoping someone will be able to help! I haven't a clue where to start making changes to cure the problem, especially when I can't replicate the problem. Any suggestions would be approriate.
    Andy.

    Thanks for your quick reply,
Yes the spiking has always been there. I hadn't even considered it could be a software problem, I didn't think this was very likely. all the program does is checks readings every 10 seconds - if the reading has changed from the previous value by an amount greater than a set deadband it logs a new point on the graph. Theres no control or processing element to it. My initial thought was it was EMI in the cabling.
Just for further information the cable lengths vary because the field points are centrally located in one room. The cabling runs to another 4 rooms with the test rigs in.
Signal conditioning is being used for the LVDT measurements to produce a -/+10V output. The TC-125 module's own cold junction compensation is being used for temperature measurements. I've checked the field points are correctly wired and everything appears to be correct.
As an experiment we've fitted out three of the test rigs with ferrite blocks on several of the cables in an attempt to suppress any EMI.

  • New computer cannot see cFP-2000 via ethernet

I set up a cFP-2000 block to connect via ethernet on my computer fine (directly connected, not through a network).  Now I want to connect it to a different computer and I can not get MAX to see the device.  I have a crossover cable from my new computer to the cFP-2000.  When I open max, it will not see that there is a device connected in the remote systems section.  What do I need to do to get the new computer to see the cFP unit I have hooked up?  I am running Windows 2000, Labview 7.1, and Fieldpoint 4.1.
    Steve

Ok, still no luck.  Here is what I have tried:
Assigned the exact same IP address to the new computer as the first computer.
    Also tried just obtaining automatically.
Assigned the same subnet mask (255.255.0.0) to the new computer as the old computer (and same as Fieldpoint).
Tried playing with the network port changing the duplex settings.
Tried using a hub to connect.  The hub worked if I tried to connect to the first computer that I set up the fieldpoint on, then it wouldn't work with the new computer.
When I connect the ethernet cable from the new computer to the cFP-2000, I don't get any lights.
I am pretty lost as to what is going on here.  I have no problem connecting to the cFP-2000 when I have it hooked up to the computer I first configured it on.  Then when I connect it exactly the same way to a new computer, I can't see it in my remote systems and there are no green or yellow lights on the FP ethernet connector.

  • Cfp-2000 loses communication

We have a CFP-2000 with the factory program (essentially a simple I/O module) that recently has started losing communication with the network.
Sometimes it will work for a few days prior to failing, sometimes for only a few hours.
Performing a hardware reset gets it running again for a few hours or days.
Does anyone have any idea as to what is wrong, or some test that we can perform?
    Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply Matthew W
    Software loaded is:
    LVRT = 7.1
    Field Point Drivers = 5.0.2
Field Point VI Manager = 3.0.0
Data Socket for LVRT = 4.2
The unit is essentially a brain with the Factory I/O software and four directly-wired analog input modules
Further info from people actually working with the unit is that it seems to just stop updating data to the PC on the network that monitors the cfp.
It seems that the cfp transmits some zero packets and then ceases outputting data.
We can ping it and the web page comes up.
Have not tried to FTP although MAX does lose communication.
We cannot wait 2-3 days for a self-restore, although a reboot always works.
Our present band-aid is to reboot the system prior to each 20 minute data acquisition cycle.  This is completely unacceptable.
You said that LVRT 7.0 made an improvement, did it actually fix it?
Do you know of any testing that we can do to determine where the fault actually lies.
I am unaware of what Troubleshooting 101 is on this particular system.
    Thanks again.

  • What is the processor speed of the CFP-2000

I may have missed it, however, I have checked all the data sheets and manuals and I cant find this.

    Hi!
Since I was rated really high... I go on!
Note that for the same price, you can buy  a cFP-2120, which is almost the same as cFP-2020, but with 188 MHz Clock!
This gap keeps in 2110 and 2120.

  • Problems configuring fp 2000

fp2000 was working properly until I tried to update the os (mistake !!) now max is seeing it as 0.0.0.0 but when I configure it to 10.0.0.2 and reboot it , its not updating the ip addr i assigned.I tried reset as well but it wouldn't update.the link led is green whereas the status led is blinking in red.I tried formatting it but it wouldn't letme do it as well.Help would be appreciated.

Thanks Hal, for your quick response.
Sorry it took so long to get back with you! (Busy…Busy …Busy).
Anyway, the status light is only flashing once.
I’ve got the cFP-2000 connected to a Switch that is hooked to my computer.
It sees it, but it won’t let me format the internal drive.
Any thing else you need me to send you , let me know.

  • Regarding fieldpoint, why doesn't cFP show up under remote systems

We have a cFP2000 that was configured on another computer last year which is now being tranferred to a different computer. Currently I am trying to install fieldpoint. Under remote systems, I do not see the cFPsystem device. When I right click remote systmes, I click on fieldpoint but I do not know the IP address to continue further. Is it possible that the switches on the Fieldpoint may be set wrong, such as the safe mode...or that the ethernet wiring may be wrong, although I am pretty sure this is okay...

    Hi biom,
I'm assuming you're connecting your computer and the cFP-2000 directly, is that correct? If so, please make sure the settings and cable requirement in the following article are met:
Connecting a Fieldpoint Controller Directly to an Ethernet Card
You may want to reset the IP address of your controller (by setting the reset dip switch to on, power cycle the controller, flip switch back to off position, then power on system). You should then see the controller with an IP address of 0.0.0.0.
    Thanks,
