  • The merge process could not allocate memory for an operation; your system may be running low on virtual memory. Restart the Merge Agent.

I encountered this problem on our SQL2012 and I have tried different scenarios (see below) to no avail. I have decided to give up and check if someone here has encountered this and resolved it.
One thing I know, it's not a memory issue. Both servers we're using has lots of memory to spare and we monitor the memory as the replication goes through it's steps.
I hope someone can help me on this. Thanks!
    The Error:
The merge process could not allocate memory for an operation; your system may be running low on virtual memory. Restart the Merge Agent.
    Our Scenario
We're using SQL Server 2012 SP1. All subscriptions are pull based.
We're using direct Merge Replication (not FTP or web sync)
We already have 10 active replications with larger databases. Only 1 has this issue.
Database size is less than 5 GB
Rebuilding the publisher is not an option.
    What have I tried?
There is no memory problem --- we have lots to spare
I have tried re-initialization of the database. Same problem.
I tried deleting the database and reinitializing it. Same problem
    New snapshot. Same problem.
I tried changing the subscriber server but still same issue.
    MCP, MCSD, MCDBA (ANXA)

Here is the result for the sp_configure on our subscriber. We're doing a pull on the server with the issue.
    name
    minimum
    maximum
    config_value
    run_value
    max server memory (MB)
    128
    2147483647
    2147483647
    2147483647
In addition, I made a comparison between the working servers and the one with the issue -- there seems to be a difference in the service pack. Publisher has none but the subscriber is operating on SP1. But still strange as only 1 database is affected.

  • Still getting the same error message, "could not allocate a resource"

I tried to sync both my iphone4 & ipad2, at different times yesterday & today. The message from iTunes is, could not connect to this ipad/iphone. "Could not allocate a resource".
So i did try earlier today the information that was provided to me to try to delete the contents of the Lockdown folder. Which i did do, with no positive outcome after that process, so i went ahead & delete the itunes file completely & downloaded a new version, but still no luck. I am getting the same message of
"itunes could not connect to this iPad. Could not allocate a resource." Please help, Thank You

There is a License Recovery script that uses Terminal.app (just enter that in Spotlight).
It also helps to do this in a admin account or to have your account with Admin privileges.
Now go to this link: Error 150:30, Nothing works. Help plz    and carefully follow the instructions in message 5.
Before you enter your password, the screen should look like the example.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Error could not allocate requested partition

    Dear All,
we have recently got new Cisco UCS B200 M series blade servers and I am trying to install Centos 6.5 minimul version
I am able to boot configure the network card but when the wizard reaches the HDD partioning menu and I try to create a partition it gives a error message
Could not allocate requested partition...  Unable to allocate requested partition
I tried the other options in the wizard for disk partioning as show in the meno but the error
there is only one 300 GB hdd on the servers
Is there a additional driver required and if so how from where I download it and install it
Apprecite your kind help and reply
    regards
    simon

The message is pretty clear that data file cannot grow because either you have put restriction on it or disk on which data file resides is full. Now you would have to find why disk is getting full. Autogrowth is one thing you must look at make sure autogrowth
is not in percentage look at default trace to guage value for autogrowth.
Are you doing ONLINE index rebuild it does have history of increasing database size due to fact that it involves versioning

  • 'Not enough memory' + 'Internal error' x 'Could not render the database' = Parting of company :(

I can’t believe the amount of concern / disappointment / frustration spread across every associated Fireworks forum re: CS5’s
    "An internal error occurred"
    "Could not render the database"
    "Not enough memory"
    "Crash without notification"
    Etc.,
We installed the CS5 trial – being more than wary about Adobe’s past releases – and lo and behold, all of the above beared ‘true’!
This is nothing new of course, we’ve all been experiencing this since CS3 – but hoping against hope - a newer release would solve the poor memory management and general ‘bug-ridden’ code; alas - as per usual, Adobe has not responded with any pro-solution based action, but successfully furthered our frustration with a couple of fresh gimmicks without strengthening the core software.
As an avid fan of adobe software […and a Fireworks freak] working in a design house that has many different employees with widespread software tastes – I eventually said ‘enough is enough’ after the umpteenth crash [as of 3 weeks ago] and have revisited the Rebel Alliance; ‘yes, CorelDraw’!  No I’m not going to go into some tirade about how much better Corel is etc. - as it has its own strengths and weaknesses, too […but without the hourly crashes] – so to be honest, we figure the time increase in some projects due to using Corel […time is diminishing with each project’s acquired experience] are negated by the downtime of Fireworks; so far, this is holding true.
This may seem drastic, but it has been a long time coming – that is, implementing a move from our decade invested workflow to a ‘somewhat’ new schema, but due to the disappointing aforementioned, eventually principal / expenditure comparisons / sanity / lack of support all culminate to such, and if there’s no support for the competition, well – then there is ‘no’ competition; a luxury Adobe has taken for granted way too long.
I truly hope Adobe turns around and fixes their ways, until then – we’ll be supporting those that do – and hopefully along the way, just maybe, with the added funds from disgruntled adobe x-pats – the software will far exceed what I used to love and adore […how I miss macromedia]; honestly, it would be near on impossible to argue which suite was better ‘either way’ – so it may not be such a distant future. Besides, with the market-door Adobe is opening due to such poor software, the new player sniffing around the edges will be welcomed by many with open arms; I know my/our allegiance will go straight to the company with the greatest software stability and sound support, whomever that maybe.
So here’s to hoping no more, and actually doing! Very sad...

I am also getting this error message. It happens randomly. Adobe help told me to close and reopen FW and then it stopped happening.  Does this sound like a good solution to anyone?

  • CMN_1117 ERROR: Could not allocate space in file

    Hi All,
I am getting below Error while doing an ETL full load (Informatica 901) on the task DATAWAREHOUSE.DATAWAREHOUSE.SILOS.SIL_APTransactionFact_DiffManLoad.
My source system is EBS R12 and Target is OBI Datawarehouse (7.9.6.3)
LKPDP_1:TRANSF_1_1> CMN_1117 ERROR: Could not allocate space in file [BI/infohome/server/infa_shared/Cache/PMLKUP16145_7_0_6139S64.dat].
Below is the file system specification of my server.
Filesystem size used avail capacity Mounted on
    /dev/dsk/c0d1s0 837G 639G 190G 78% /BI
I could also see that my 'Cache' folder from '/BI/infohome/server/infa_shared/' is increasing upto 190 GB and throwing an error. Is this normal that the data cache to increase up to 190 GB for a EBS source system which has only 500 GB data in total. And i am doing only load for Financial Analytics.
    Many Thanks

We are struck on same issue. I didnt any update on this thread if the issue was resolved.
I checked out "SIL_APTransactionFact_DiffManLoad" workflow in Workflow manager and unchecked "Lookup Cache() function".
However, I still see the cache files created on <<INFA_HOME>>/9.0.1/server/infa_shared/Cache folder.
Since it was set not to use cache, can it be possible not to have these files cache files generated.
    Appreciate your time and help.
    Thanks, Vagic.

  • Error "ROW-00001 cannot allocate memory"

I am using oracle 10g and i got this error "ROW-00001 cannot allocate memory" when accessing dataset. What is the solution of this and concept behind it. Please help.

I have had a similar error with SQL Server 2005 (running on WINXP SP3) connected to Oracle 9i through a Linked Server.
I was originally using MSDAORA and was upgrading to OraOLEDB. There was a lot going on with my machine involving repeated installs/un-installs of the 9i and 10g clients so it's hard to pin-point the exact cause of this being broken.
Eventually I had the original linked server using MSDAORA and the new Linked served using OraOLEDB existing happily side by side. Then I started having problems selecting data.
I could still connect and select sysdate from dual through each linked server. Sometimes I could select data and then shortly after I could not. A reboot helped briefly but then the problems re-appeared.
    The errors I got were:
    - Using the original Linked server with MSDAORA
Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The OLE DB provider "MSDAORA" for linked server "LNK_KADM01P" reported an error. The provider ran out of memory.
Msg 7330, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 Cannot fetch a row from OLE DB provider "MSDAORA" for linked server "LNK_KADM01P".- Using the new Linked server with OraOLEDB.
OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "OLE_LNK_KADM01P" returned message "".
OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "OLE_LNK_KADM01P" returned message "ROW-00001: Cannot allocate memory".
Msg 7320, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 Cannot execute the query "SELECT * FROM XYZ " against OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "OLE_LNK_KADM01P". In the end I reinstalled the 9i ODAC/OLE client. When you run the installer it shows 5 ODAC/OLE subcomponents. I think when I had been installing earlier I had not been selecting each subcomponent, and so it was only installing the first one (which is for MS MTS).
I went through the install and specifically selected each one of the components. I'm pretty sure my problem was caused by only having the old 9.2.0.1 OLE client objects installed instead of 9.2.0.7. After the re-install and reboot it's been running fine, and coincidently data throughput has doubled.
I hope this is help to others. (Because I know how frustrating and painful this has been for me!!!)

  • Downloading itunes, I receive the error "there is not enough memory".  How do I fix the memory issue?

When dowloadning tunes, I receive the error "there is not enough memory.  I've deleted tunes from my library & ipod and I still get the error. How do I get around this?

It could be the newer version of iTunes requires more physical memory than your computer currently has available.
Do a right click on "My computer" and check out your computers memory/RAM specifications.
Windows XP is a bit bloated in the latest updates, trying to get people to upgrade to Windows 7, might be little room for other programs, especially one as huge as iTunes.
If you finally do choose a new machine, I have some tips:
For 3D gaming laptops, I wouldn't pick any graphics card scoring less than 1000 on this sites scale. Not scoring less than 2000 for towers.
    http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
I would also choose a quad core processor scoring 5000 or better on this scale,  64 bit,  Windows 7 Pro (so you can virtualize your XP programs) or OS X, and 4GB of RAM expandable to at least 8GB or future proofing your investment.
    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
I would also choose 7,200 RPM hard drives for both towers and laptops for performance. On laptops while using the battery, set the energy savings to stop the hard drive spinning when not in use. Only choose the slower 5,400 RPM drive option if your always on battery and need maximum life as you lose about 20% with the faster drive, but gain 20% or more in performance.
Dual cores and 32 bit processors/OS with their 4GB RAM limit is soon to be old news.
For laptops, I highly recommend anti-glare displays for maximum use in any environment.

When I try to play a disk that has been burned on a VCR/DVD combo machine, I very often get an error message that says:

and then it quits. Sometimes I have been able to play a disc, after several tries, as it errors later and later, but also sometimes not.

  • Could not allocate space for object temporary system object: ... in database 'tempdb' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full.

Using SQL Server 2008 R2. Tempdb resides on disks W and X
both of those are 250 GB each. Nothing else resides on these disks. The recovery mode for tempdb is set to Simple and is split in 8 files and one log file. Each of the tempdb file is set for auto growth by 128 MB and max size is unlimited. The log file is
set for auto growth by 10% and max size unlimited.
I get the following error at least once a week while running an ETL:
[SQLSTATE 01003] (Message 8153) Could not allocate space for object '<temporary system object: 335532118192937>' in database 'tempdb' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. Create disk space by deleting unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup,
adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 50000). The step failed.
I have to then shrink the tempdb log and files to create space on the disks.
What is a permanent solution to this problem, I don't want my ETL to break due to TempDB diskspace full.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Permanent solution would be finding out query which is causing tempdb log file to grow out of proportion and fill it and I would like you to take help of below article
Troubleshooting out of space issue in Tempdb
Please change Autogrowth value for Log file from 10 % to may be 100 M. This is just a tentative value you need to study
growth of tempdb to reach to correct value. You kept 128 MB autogrowth for tempdb data file is this value tentative or you just put it.
Below article can be referred for tempdb details

Advanced Thanks for your solution for this issue.

    Hello,
as the message stated correctly is the tempdb full:
    Logical File Name: tempdev
    File Size(MB): 20,000
    File Size Limit(MB): 20000
    Logical File Name: tempdb_1_Data
    File Size(MB): 14,999
    File Size Limit(MB): 15000
    Logical File Name: tempdb_2_Data
    File Size(MB): 15,000
    File Size Limit(MB): 15000
All files of the tempdb are restricted in size and already expanded to their maximum size. You now can either
    - add another file on a disk with free space and let the file grow
    - let the existing files grow to an higher amount
    Best regards

  • TS1387 this is the pop up that comes up when i plug in my phone "itunes could not connect to this iphone. Could not allocate a resource" what should i do?

The pop up that comes up as soon as i plug my iphone into my mac is 'itunes could not connect to this iphone. could not allocate  resource" what should i do?

HOW TO FIX CANNOT ALLOCATE A RESOURCE ERROR!!!
I found a fix that worked for me after failing with all the others:
IF your computer has an old cydia app called Wi-Fi Sync (you'll recognize it on your toolbar as a black silhouette of an iphone that NEVER goes away), then this is probably your main culprit.  Simple fix.
    1. Goto your hard drive in the finder
    2. Goto Library
    3. Goto Launch Daemons
    4. Throw this in the trash:  com.ghughes.wifisync.root.plist
    5. Goto Library
    6. Goto Application Support
    7. Throw this in the trash:  Wi-Fi Sync (it's an entire folder).
    8. Restart.
    9. Thank me.
Peace and Love, Peace and LOVE!

  • Cannot sync iPhone "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not allocate a resource."

Cannot sync my new iPhone 5S to my new Macbook Pro.  Keep getting error message "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not allocate a resource."  Old iphone 4S will not sync either but iPod Classic synced fine.  Spent 2 hours on phone with Applecare trying various things including reinstalling itunes, disk repair, authorizing computer.  Nothing has worked.

    This totally worked!
