Cgicmd.dat in formsweb.cfg?

Hi,
in my formsweb.cfg i have two alias that point to two different database.
I have only one cgicmd.dat and don't want to change code of forms for invoking reports.
I can put two different cgicmd.dat for pointing the two database ?
Thanks.
Best regards.
Francesco

I don't see any issue here. You have two alias in formsweb.cfg, each can point to its own database. And since you want to use the same codes for Forms and Reports that make it even more easier.

    # formsweb.cfg defines parameter values used by the FormsServlet (frmservlet)
    # This section defines the Default settings. Any of them may be overridden in the
    # following Named Configuration sections. If they are not overridden, then the
    # values here will be used.
    # The default settings comprise two types of parameters: System parameters,
    # which cannot be overridden in the URL, and User Parameters, which can.
    # Parameters which are not marked as System parameters are User parameters.
    # SYSTEM PARAMETERS
    # These have fixed names and give information required by the Forms
    # Servlet in order to function. They cannot be specified in the URL query
    # string. But they can be overridden in a named configuration (see below).
    # Some parameters specify file names: if the full path is not given,
    # they are assumed to be in the same directory as this file. If a path
    # is given, then it should be a physical path, not a URL.
    # USER PARAMETERS
    # These match variables (e.g. %form%) in the baseHTML file. Their values
    # may be overridden by specifying them in the URL query string
    # (e.g. "http://myhost.mydomain.com/forms/frmservlet?form=myform&width=700")
    # or by overriding them in a specific, named configuration (see below)

  • 500 Internal Server Error and formsweb.cfg ???

    Hi

    I use OEM Application server Control to configure my formsweb.cfg and registry.dat
    When I just call http://<host>:7778/forms/frmservlet, It has installed jinitiator
    If someone had the same problem, I would be happy to have an explanation to this problem

  • Set formsweb.cfg

    what is to corrispond at the formsXX_path and ui_icon on MS in the formsweb.cfg ??

    giordano,
    for icons I suggest to create a jar file and put them into this. Then edit the formsweb.cfg file and set imagebase=codebase in the application definition section.
    Copy the custom jar file into the formsxx\java directory and add its name to the archive parameter
    e.g. archive_jinit = f60all_jinit.jar, myIcons.jar
    This way the icons get permanently cached on the client and you can have them separated for each application. However, simply editing the registry.dat file, as suggested by Shay works as well.

    In the below HTML code i set image source in the image tag as below:

    AFAIK, this is not the correct way to set the image location.
    We call the working directory as context, so inside the context root along with WEB-INF, maintain a folder with name img and put all the images in that directory.
    You can use either .\<image_folder> or the optimum way would be (if you are using JSPs) to use getContext() method and traverse accordingly.
    FYI,,, using getContext() will give you context root directory, from there it is as simple as accessing any other folder.
    Hope this answers your question.
    Cheers,
    Jeets.

  • How to update cgicmd.dat file during runtime?

    I'd like to know how do update cgicmd.dat file during runtime. For example, I run a report one.jsp as
    http://<machine>:<port>/reports/rwservlet?one.jsp&USERID=uid/pwd@db&DESTYPE=cache&mode=bitmap&desformat=htmlcss
    within this report there is a hyperlink to open another report named two.jsp.
    before creating this hyperlink, I'd like to update cgicmd.dat file with passed in userID, pwd, and connection, so two.jsp can use this key for userinfo
    so I can create hyperlink as follows
    srw.set_hyperlink('/reports/rwservlet?report=two.jsp'||
    '&cmdkey=userinfo&DESTYPE=cache&mode=bitmap&desformat=htmlcss');
    Thanks

    To my knowledge the cgicmd.dat is only read when the OC4J starts, so you would have to come up with another solution. Using Single-Sign-On (SSO) is quite a good idea, and it's there for cases like this.

  • How to add html image tag in formsweb.cfg file

    Dear all,
    I am trying to display one image in background(not on form) by using HTMLbeforeform attribute in formsweb.cfg.
    from local machine that image is displaying..from other machine which is network I can able to access the forms first page but that image is not displaying..
    Where i need to keep the image? Is there any shared folder to keep images?
    The following code can give a clear idea...
    # HTML page title
    pageTitle=My Forms Server
    # HTML attributes for the BODY tag
    HTMLbodyAttrs=
    # HTML to add before the form
    HTMLbeforeForm=<img src='G:\images\logo.jpg' align=left height=150 width=150>--wich loc i need to place the img
    # HTML to add after the form
    HTMLafterForm=<MARQUEE><font color=blue><b><I>HAVE A NICE DAY!</MARQUEE>

    The image-tag has to point to an url at the application-server which is accessible from the client's browser. So, if your forms-url is something like
    http://host:port/forms/frmservlet?config=xxxThe image-url should be something like
    HTMLbeforeForm=<img src='/path/logo.jpg' align=left height=150 width=150>where path is a virtual directory on the application server. Either create such a virtual directory or use an existing one, like /forms/java, which points to $ORACLE_HOME/forms/java on the server.
    You can test that by puttin the url "by hand" in the browser like
    http://host:port/forms/java/logo.jpg

  • Cgicmd.dat file usage

    Hi,
    I am generating my reports using the cgicmd.dat file in pdf format and my application is in web-based html.
    I have a report which passes 4 paramters and 2 of it is considered imortant (and dynamic according to user interaction in the begining) and should not be changed by the users. I have found out that by using the parameter forms like %P, %PT and %PC entry in the cgicmd.dat file would means that I cannot use other user parameters in the file entry, and so also in the reverse situation.
    But when I tried to put both of them (%P and %1..%4 for user parameters) together, then call up the reports with the parameter values included in the entry (like http://server/repserver/?repname+value1+v2+v3+v4), I seems to be able to pass the important values to the displayed parameter form while hiding them and asking the users to enter only the other 2 parameters which they may change.
    But then, when I submit the form, it gave me an error:
    ======================================================
    Error: The requested URL was not found, or cannot be served at this time.
    Oracle Reports Server CGI - Error occurred while parsing the Reports Server command line.
    ======================================================
    May anyone assist me on how I can make use of the parameter form and also passing in some values that are dynamic and cannot be changed by the users?
    Thank you in advance for your assistance!

    FYI...
    Our dev and prod are at the same levels. I was able to narrow the problem down further, however. It appears to be a row size problem. If I force a rownum < 1500 in my report's query, then it works fine on dev and prod. If I force a rownum < 2000, then it crashes the engine on prod. The reason it works on dev and not on prod is that the amount of data on dev is far less than prod. Also, I ran the report locally on my PC against the prod database and it gave me a little more info. The report appears to query all of the rows fine, but it gets an ArrayIndexOutOfBounds exception. Since the report comes back with all rows just fine using a DESFORMAT other than DELIMITED, I believe it's a bug with applying the delimiter when formatting the report. The admins say that we are a few patchsets behind, so I'm guessing it is a fixed bug already.
    Thanks.

  • 9i default TNS/DB in formsweb.cfg

    I can't seem to make any use of "userid" work on the iAS middletier.
    It's as if I can't override the basic userid setting: I can't do it in a named config and I can't do it if I put it in the URL. No matter what I do I'm forced to enter username, password and database. It's as if the use of userid just gets ignored. I can easily change userid when I run forms directly from 9iDS, it's just on the iAS it doesn't work.
    Basically I need to be able to specify a 9i equivalent of putting "set LOCAL=MY_DB.WORLD" in a .bat file in the 6i fat client mode, ie. specify only the default database to be used so that the users don't have to enter that explicitly at logon. However, I can't find any documentation how this is done - all examples just say "userid=user/pass@<your_db>".
    So I also need some sort of documentation that lists ALL possible commands in the formsweb.cfg, but I've been unable to find the complete reference guide for that.

    Jesper,
    all parameters that are understood by the formsweb.cfg file are listed un the System and user section. In Oracle10g Forms we also added comments to describe their individual meanings.
    1. create a named configuration for your application and add
    # assuming orcl is your database tnsnames name)
    userid=@orcl
    2. In your Forms application, using an on-logon trigger
    BEGIN
    LOGON_SCREEN;
    message(get_application_property(username||'@'||get_application_property(connect_string));
    LOGON(get_application_property(username ||'@'||get_application_property(connect_string),get_application_property(password),true);
    END;
    If you want to also specify teh username so that he only needs to enter the password, you can pass userid=scott@orcl in the URL
    Note that Oracle9iDS had a bug on Windows2000 that prevented the servlet from reading URL parameters. This problem is solved within Patch1.

  • How to use the cgicmd.dat to specify a directory name for desname

    Hi folks,
    What I'm trying to do is use a command key to specify the directory for a file, specified via desname. Here's an example.
    cgicmd.dat
    custom_reports_dir: /some/directory/custom_reports
    Then I want to reference it via something like this..
    http://server:7777/reports/rwservlet?cmdkey=rpt_connect&destype=file&desname=custom_reports_dir/test.pdf&desformat=pdf
    Where in the above example, I'm trying to use the command key to specify a directory name, and then append a file name to it. It isn't working for me, is this possible to do? I figure since it's not an argument in itsself, it's being interpreted literally, rather than being substituted for the parameter.
    Thanks very much,
    -Adam vonNieda

    That depends on how you actually run your program in the first place. If you just use a batch file you could simply make the path to the javaw.exe relative (e.g. jre\javaw.exe cp lib\myJar.jar com.MyClass). Or you could look into some third-party software that allows you to create installations packages for Java. I have used Zero G's InstallAnywhere before and they have support for you setting up their executables to use a bundled jre. I am sure all the other java install makers have similar functionality.

  • Number of parameters possible in cgicmd.dat?

    Is it possible to have more than 10 parameters in the cgicmd.dat keyfile?
    I have a query that requires a lot of joins and would like to use parameters like
    param1=%1
    param20=%20.
    The problem seems to be that I can't use 2-digit parameters - I run into trouble as soon as I use something like %10. The cgi then substitutes the %1 value and errors on the '0' part.
    any help much appreciated!
    null

    Hi, Alan and John
    The following is written in the cgicmd.dat file ITSELF:
    ; Currently recognized special parameters:
    ; %0 - %9 - 0..9 arguments from original RWCGI60 URL request. Note that %0 refers to the key itself.Remember that you can also create different key maps for the same report (again in cgimap.dat) with some of the parameters already filled.
    Or you can use PARAMFORM=YES and use an HTML FORM to enter the parameters (if you are not calling the reports in BATCH mode).
    The limit of 9 parameters only applies for parameters that you would want to enter in the URL itself.
    Hope this helps,
    Pedro

  • Cannot save formsweb.cfg through OEM

    Hi All,
    I am using Enterprise Manager with Oracle Application Server (Forms and Reports services), and cannot save changes to the formsweb.cfg file through OEM.
    I can make changes to the file formsweb.cfg manually (with notepad), and the server itself sees these changes, but Enterprise Manager still shows the original settings.
    In our application always we need to do change the of .JAR file simenteneously and it will be deployed in Particular user instance.
    I initially thought this was a cache problem, and re-booted the host. After the rebooting also i cannot see the manual changes in OEM , but it still refuses to make changes itself.
    Does anybody have any ideas??
    Thanks in Advance!
    Santosh

    This is the forum for the SQL Developer tool. You should ask your question in an OEM or Forms forum

  • Cannot save formsweb.cfg

    Hi All,
    I am using Enterprise Manager with Oracle Application Server (Forms and Reports services), and cannot save changes to the formsweb.cfg file.
    When I make changes to the file, and click Apply, the settings return to their original values. This is what I would expect with the Revert button.
    I can make changes to the file manually (with notepad), and the server itself sees these changes, but Enterprise Manager still shows the original settings.
    I initially thought this was a cache problem, and re-booted the host. Only then would Enterprise Manager see the manual changes, but it still refuses to make changes itself, or to see subsequent manual changes.
    Does anybody have any ideas??
    Thanks
    Gavin

    Me too, but let me add the following info:
