Ch 3 on 6th mod of 1121s w/ 1321 FE gives bad readings if not scanned by itself

I can scan channel 3 by itself or with channels from another 1121 module and recieve a good reading but trying to scan it with the other channels from the same 1121 module results in a bad reading. I do not have this problem with any of the other 1121 modules. There is an 1141 with a 1305 in slot 7 of the chassis.

I know it has been a long time since the last post on this issue, but I wanted to give an update.
It turns out that all 14 of the 1321 front ends I purchased had solid state relays from the same lot (4 per module.) All of these relays with lot 0027T1267 relays from Clare do NOT meet manufacturer's specs for temperature, and so can cause erratic problems. At a mere 96F, they change values and eventually completely change states. Since they aren't mechanical in nature, they don't hard switch on or off, but rather have inbetween values that can appear to be bad readings. See my other post on 1321's for more.

  • HT1492 Nowhere does this article define what verbose mode is so I know if I want it or not.

Nowhere does this article define what verbose mode is so I know if I want it or not. I wanted to make this observation a comment about the article, but I don't see a way to do that. The article needs to be revised.

Thanks, WZZZ and baltwo. Your combined contributions clear it up: Verbose is what I call Terminal mode. (Maybe my term is better, because one needs a Verbose reboot after a Terminal crash ; ^ ) I now know I have had no need to use it on startup.
My point was as a writer: If I want to explain how someone can get into Verbose mode, I first explain what it is and its value. The article leaves me asking exactly what WZZZ says: Why would I want to use Verbose mode—preceded by: What is it? I'm hoping that Apple will see my topic and fix it, but I'm not holding my breath....
Even the osxdaily article only hints at the value of Verbose, but that was enough to provide the clarity the original article lacks. I have the Terminal alias on my dock, but I don't think I've used it more than once in four years. I'm no geek, and when those things happen I just march to the Genius Bar, where THEY boot up in Verbose mode. To me it's a testament to the stability of the evolved OS—or more to the fact that I haven't changed how I use my MBP in years or download strange new third-party apps.
    Again, thanks for the help.

A windows error message appears saying iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.
let's get a crash log from itunes, and send it to the Apple engineers for a look.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
Generate the crash, collect the crash log, and and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • IPod Nano (6th gen.): White Screen saying "OK to disconnect." when not connected.

My 6th Generation iPod Nano (Dopi is his name) took an unfortunate ride through my washing machine a few weeks back (one of the draw backs of it being so small and lightweight... it can sometimes elude the quick pre-laundry pocket check). At first, it was okay. I immediately threw it into a ziploc bag full of rice to pull all the moisture out of it. The screen was a little blotchy for a while, but it eventually seemed to work out all the kinks and was back to full operation within 12 hours. I was using it fairly regularly after that for the next couple days with no issues.
A few days later, my iPod was getting low on fuel and had a "Connect to Power" screen on it. So I plugged it into my iMac, and everything was working fine, I started to manage some playlists in iTunes while it charged, and that's when I noticed the screen was odd.  Instead of the usual "Do Not Disconnect" screen that I'm used to, the screen had an all-white background, with a black "Do Not Disconnect." message on it.  I thought it was odd. But I ejected it, and it said "Ok to disconnect." with a black checkmark. Same white background, black text. (also a black battery life icon in the top right corner)  I disconnected, and it just told me to connect to power, again.
Finding that weird, I let the iPod's power completely drain, figuring that would fix the issue. It did not.  As soon as I plugged it back in, the white screen came back.  I let it power up to full, and after I eject and disconnect it, the "OK to disconnect" screen comes back, even after I've disconnected, and it stays there.  I can't operate anything on it.
I've tried everything I know how to do:  I've let the power drain, and recharged to full. I've tried resetting it. I tried restoring it to factory settings. And I tried to reset it and put it into disk mode, but the black and white "OK to disconnect." screen comes back before I can even get it into disk mode.
Before I restored to factory settings, I could still manage all the files on my iPod. I could add songs, remove them, make playlists and everything when I had it connected to iTunes, I just can't do anything with the iPod itself. So, my little Dopi is in a coma right now. He's still alive, he just won't wake up.  I don't want to pull the plug on him.
Any suggestions?  Anyone else have this problem?
It's not easy for me to get to an Apple Store, so I thought I'd try this before I take it to any geniuses.

  • I changed my wheel group properties to no access at top disk level.  I messed up, how can I change back in single user mode "command s" as I am now in Thailand and not able to access startup disks?

I messed up, I changed my "Wheel group" properties to No Access ( or something other than the default) at the top level of my startup disk "Macintosh HD".   Now my computer won't start up, I just get the spinning wheel of death.    I also am in Thailand right now, so I cannot go to a Genius at an apple store, nor do I have startup disks available.
So I was hoping there was a way to change back the properties of my disk (Volume) in single user mode (via Command +s) during startup, i.e. can I do a chmod command on the Macintosh HD listing under the Volume Directory.    Or where do i fix this?   Is it fixable without startup disks, etc...
    THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!!!
If you could also please let me know you have an answer, I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!!
    thanks so much

    Thomas,
Thanks for the info on command-R, didn't know about that!!!
Yes I changed the sharing "Wheel Group" permissions on my hard drive via Get Info.    But that's all I did.    And then most of the apps wouldn't respond with anything.    So not knowing I did something stupid, I decided to re-boot, and then nothing but the Wheel of Death at startup.
I was trying to limit access to my computer on this network, changed my public folder settings, and then I thought why not the whole hard drive, but at that time I had no idea what the "Wheel Group" was... so I shouldn't have touched it, BUT IT DID ...... argggggg....
I managed to go to an internet cafe & research the problem yesterday.    I used the command +s single mode to get in, and then did the necessary steps to mount the drive so I could make changes.   I basically did this:
Boot into single-user mode (boot while holding down CMD-S)
Follow the on-screen instructions to mount the file system as read-write (a fsck command followed by a mount command)
Type the following: "chmod o+r /" followed by "chmod o+x /"
Type "exit" to leave single user mode and complete the boot sequence.
I found it at this link http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=416180
It worked... thank God!!!   Well so far so good.
I was going to try my own fix by chmod on the Hard drive listed under Volumes directory, but that doesn't seem to match the info under Get Info Window.    So I just used the fix above.    I probably should now go and do "Disk Utility - repair permissions", however I am a little gun shy right now, so I will probably wait until I am back in the States so I can go to an Apple store if it messes up.   Right now I'm following the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" MOTTO...
So Thomas I just wanted to say THANKS for replying so quickly, and I really appreciate your help!!!
(yes I know I shouldn't have used my email addresses, but I WAS DESPERATE, but that's still no excuse)
Hopefully maybe this thread will help someone else out in the future....
    Okay, thanks again!

  • Why does Firefox 4 (safe mode) fail to display a gadget with the message "User not signed in", when Firefox 3.6 (including lastest version) does so successfully?

I attempted to access a Google Docs spreadsheet gadget (Piles of Money) in Firefox 4, both normally and in safe mode. In both cases I get a message saying "User not logged in", a link to log in, and a "throbber" that continues without end.
I can successfully view this same gadget using Firefox 3.6 without problem (and have done so for over a year on various, latest versions of Firefox).
I tested both with Firefox 4 and Firefox 3.6 in safe mode (to rule out extensions and other changes). In both cases, this was on Windows XP; I have also had the same behavior (albeit without testing in safe mode) on Windows 7.
The same behavior occurs when creating a new gadget of this type, although I've not tested this as thoroughly.
Is this a bug in Google Docs, Firefox 4, or both?
Note the troubleshooting information is from XP, running Firefox 4 in normal mode.

*Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

My iphone 5 has no sim card because i wanna use it as a tablet. i start it up and im stuck in setting the language, country , and then wifi. i select wifi which it connects perfect. then it trys to activate through wifi doesnt work and says contact apple.com/support. also says try to connect through itunes. i made a account and i plug in my iphone 5 to my windows 7 pc. computer doesnt detect it when i have it in itunes mode. my iphone 5 shows connect to itunes. what do i do?

You can not activate it without a SIM. If it is carrier locked, the SIM must be from the carrier it is locked to.
The SIM does not have to be tied to an active line of service, but it MUST be present.

  • I thought that I was updating my phone...but it went into Recovery mode with the USB cord pointing to itunes and music notes in a circle. How can I get my Iphone 4 back to working without losing my data? I tried turning the phone off and it is uplugged.

My iphone 4 is stuck on the lock screen with the USB cord pointing to itunes and music notes. I thought I was updating the phone for itunes but it is now teetering on the Recovery Mode. I do not want to lose my data, etc. Can someone explain how I can get my phone back? Apple support is not helpful.

Your phone is in recovery mode.  All data on it are already lost.  You must connect your phone to your computer and restore through iTunes.

  • My phone is stuck on the on off cycle.  I've tried the "recovery mode" steps I found on several websites but it did not work. What do I do??

my phone all of a sudden shut off.  When I tried restarting it, it showed the apple logo then drifted off again.  It has continued this process for over 3 hours now, I have searched several websites for what to do and all have said it is in "recovery mode." I followed the steps listed on those websites and the phone is still doing it.  At one point it showed the "low battery" screen so I plugged it in, it started the on off cycle again.  please help!

  • After target display mode, iPhoto reports an error, "The current screen resolution is not optimal for iPhoto."

I have the 27-inch (late 2009) iMac with mini-Display port input. Whenever I return from Target Display Mode, I get the attached error message and iPhoto becomes unresponsive (the window is still active, but clicking on it produces the error/warning system sound), I have to Force Quit it. The current screen resolution is not optimal for iPhoto (sometimes the error message is a little off the screen in the lower left and only the top of the window can be seen. This also seems to affect iTunes at the same time (by resizing the window to be super small), but without the error message or unresponsiveness.
Has anyone else gotten this problem, and or might know of a fix?

Yes, I have the same problem.  I have checked the resolution in Sysyem Preferences - display and it is properly set to the highest resolution (which is recommended).  I have no idea why this is ocurring but it is annoying.
