Chaining two Extremes--which order?

I have two AEBS, one a dual-band and other a little older. I am going to hook them together on different floors using Powerline adapters and ethernet. On my top floor is the cable modem and the main floor is where my TV is and where I want "N" streaming to Roku and Apple TV.
Should I put the dual-band second in the chain to be nearest the TVs, or is it better to have it first in the chain (upstairs) because it is the better technology.

Couple of additional questions. Under your suggestion, what should the settings be under "wireless mode?" Assuming it would be:
802.11n (non-dual)= "create a wireless network"
802.11n (dual)= "extend a wireless network"
Actually, you will want the following settings:
o 802.11n (non-dual) = Create a wireless network
o 802.11n (dual) = Create a wireless network
The only reason to choose "Extend a wireless network" would be if the two routers were NOT connected by wire.
Also, what about the checkboxes asking "Allow this network to be extended?" for each base station. Should they be checked or unchecked?
You will want both "unchecked." Again, this would be because the routers are connected by Ethernet and this option is the "other half" of the "Allow this network to be extended"/"Extend a wireless network" pair to define a dynamic WDS. Neither are required (or desired) when the routers are connected by wire.
The reason I was using WDS even though it was against my instinct is this paragraph from "Take Control" book by Glenn Fleishman ...
Glenn provides an excellent reference in the Take Control series. I believe what Glenn is referring to here is in a situation where you had two AirPort connected by wire (like you do) and want to extend the wireless range even further. Using his instruction for your case would be if you wanted to add a third AirPort ... say an AirPort Express. You could then configure the 802.11n (dual) and Express into a dynamic WDS.
Actually, in this case, it would be advantageous to switch the Extremes so that the dual would be connected to the modem and the WDS would be configured between the non-dual and Express.

  • Chaining two Extremes--which order? (part 2)

Just reconfigured my home network after buying Cisco RVS4000 router and adding a second simultaneous dual-band AEBS. I followed Tesserax's advice in the previous thread (Chaining two Extremes--which order?) recently.
The two db extremes are bridged and both use the same network name, passwords, and security levels.
One odd behavior I can't figure out:
When I eliminated the non-simultaneous db extreme from the chain and was resetting the existing sDB, it took on the profile of the extreme I eliminated from the chain. I have hard reset it several times, both manually and through the airport utility interface. Even though it says it resets, in the summary tab, it continues to indicate it is a (fast ethernet) model and not the (simultaneous dual-band) model. And the radio settings seem to mirror those of the older model.
So, to summarize, hardware wise, I have two new simultaneous dual band extremes but airport utility indicates I only have one. The network appears to be working fine, but I'm wondering whether I'm getting the full functionality of the hardware.
I don't know how to fix this.

  • Can I daisy chain two Thunderbolt displays to the new MacBook Airs (July 2011)?

I have last year's MacBook Air -- probably the best Mac I've ever had and I've had a few. I looked at using multiple displays last year, but the reviews for the major 3rd-party solutions really demonstrate how little is possible.
I see Apple says you can double up on displays for the MacBook Pro (I have a pre-Thunderbolt one unfortunately), what about the new (July 2011) MacBook Airs?
    Anyone tried? Anyone know?
(I have a 30" Dell display, but it is, and always has been, very flakey when it comes to connecting to a Mac laptop).

You can thank Intel for that.
The sandy bridge chips all have integrated graphics, and before they were released -- they took nvidia to court claiming they didn't have a "license" to make GPU chipsets for the sandy bridge line.  Intel won, and consumers lost.
The solution most manufacturers are using for notebooks is graphics switching (nvidia optimus like technology) -- which basically uses a discreet GPU along side the intel integrated GPU, and switches between the two instantaenously based on the workload and \ or battery life -- this is how the macbook pro's with the ATI gpus work.
Since there isn't enough space physically inside a macbook air for a discreet GPU, and since no company in the world is allowed to make a shared GPU for intel's sandy bridge chipsets -- the only solution is to use the integrated graphics that is in the processors -- Intel HD 3000.  Intel basically has the monopoly here...there is no legal solution in the world another company can provide thanks to our wonderful court system
Wanna know the really sad part about the Intel HD 3000 GPU?  The Nvidia 320M (the GPU used in the previous model 2010 macbook air -- chip was released to the market in April of last year) actually out performs it in some benchmarks -- that's right, a 1+ year old shared gpu from nvidia outperforms Intel's 2011 integrated graphics.
    Intel ***** at graphics, period.
The only other solution I can think of is for you to get the "Echo Express" product from Sonnet:
    http://www.sonnettech.com/product/thunderbolt/index.html
It's basically an external bay that will allow you to put a PCIe GPU inside it, and it would then connect via thunderbolt to the macbook air.
You would then use the minidisplayport connectors on the PCIe GPU to connect to the apple displays -- I believe any modern ATI or Nvidia GPU can support up to 3 or 4 external displays.
Unfortunately, sonnet's bay is not released yet, and you'd also have to make sure the PCIe GPU you get supports both thunderbolt AND os x....so yeah, kind of slim pickens right now
    EDIT:
So apparently the macbook pros can daisy chain two thunderbolt displays -- Apple has a picture of it on their site:
    http://storeimages.apple.com/1867/as-images.apple.com/is/image/AppleInc/MC914_AV 7?wid=1200&hei=1200&fmt=jpeg&qlt=95&op_sharpen=0&resMode=bicub&op_usm=0.5,0.5,0, 0&iccEmbed=0&layer=comp
I just bought a new mac air too...I was gonna get a mbpro but they are just too expensive -- the one I configured was at around 3000$
Wanna know what's lame about using the thunderbolt display with the mac air?  So the new mac air has the magsafe connector on one side and the thunderbolt connector on the other -- they're not on the same side like the macbook pro is (see picture) -- so basically the cable is going to have to slack around the back of the macbook air -- who designed that?  Must have been smoking some good meth ;p

  • Looking for two BAPIs which will provide me specific BI information

    Hello,
I am developing something from the Java side and I am looking for two BAPIs which will provide me the following information regarding our BI:
    1. a BAPI that by giving it a userid will provide me a list of the ODSs the users has access to.
    2. a BAPI that by giving it an infoArea will provide me the list of ODSs inside this infoArea. Here, all I could find was BAPI_ODSO_GETLIST which gives me all the ODSs in our Business Wearhouse in all infoAreas.
    Thank you in advance,
    Roy

    hello Maxwell ,
hhave a look at tcode BAPI , under MM application area.... u will get all BAPIs related to MM modules.
Identify if a quotation number exists in the system which a specific sales organization.
Determine the sale price of a material for a specific customer-->u need to ask your functional consultant , may be he is creating info record for that one?
A simplier way to identify the plant specific status of a material without using the MATERIALGETALL-->use table MARC
Identify if a specific customer used a supplied purchase order before.
Identify if a customer has been placed on credit hold-->i think u can make use of tcode vkm4 or custome master data will have all these info.

  • [solved] question about two soundcards which use the same module

    Hi
I have two external soundcards, an Edirol UA-25 and a MAudio Transit. Both use the snd_usb_audio kernel driver. When I only had the MAudio, I configured it to be soundcard number 2 with the following in /etc/modprobe/modprobe.conf
    options snd-usb-audio index=2
Now I'd like to have one be soundcard number 2 and the other one soundcard number 3. The internal soundcard is number 0, my tv card is number 1, I don't want to change that.
    How can I do this?
Last edited by Army (2011-08-26 16:31:10)

Ok, works. For documention, here's what I did:
If you have two (or more) soundcards, which use the same kernel module, this is what you need in your modprobe.conf (or call this file just like you want, it only has to be in /etc/modprobe.d and has to be called *.conf)
    options snd-usb-audio index=2,3 vid=0x0582,0x0763 pid=0x0074,0x2006
This is what I have now. Index is the number of the card, e.g. you see those numbers in alsamixer when you press F6. The vids and pids you can get with
lsusb -v|grep idVendor # this is for the idv
lsusb -v|grep idProduct # this is for the idp
Just pick the line which stands for the soundcard, put these ids into the *.conf file and you're done. Now it doesn't matter in which order you plugin the soundcards, they get the right index.
    Quite easy after all

  • In which order does the query's where clause condition is checked

    Hi All,
can anyone tell me in which order does oracle evaluate the where clause condition?
for ex: select * from users where user_type='Admin' and stauts='Enabled'

    user9981103 wrote:
The conditions in the WHERE clause are checked in the reverse order of the given order.
i.e; first it will check stauts='Enabled'* and then user_type='Admin'* for your given queryWhy do you believe that?
If there is a sufficiently selective b-tree index on USER_TYPE, the optimizer would undoubtedly use that index to process the USER_TYPE = 'Admin' condition and then check the STATUS column.
If there is a sufficiently selective b-tree index on STATUS, the optimizer would undoubtedly use that index to process the STATUS='Enabled' condition and then check the USER_TYPE column.
If there is a composite b-tree index on (STATUS, USER_TYPE), the optimizer would use that index to process the two conditions nearly simultaneously, though technically the leading column of the index is evaluated first. Of course, if you reverse the order of columns in the index, you get a different evaluation order
If there are bitmap indexes on STATUS and USER_TYPE, Oracle can combine the two indexes and evaluate the two conditions simultaneously.
And that is leaving out tons of query plan options and other optimizer wrinkles.

  • Need help to figure it out which Order/release is for arrive!!!

Hi all, i need a little help from someone, i have to develop a report with a different kind of information, and one of the columns i am getting problems to get it, its the one where i need to include the next order that will arrive, it means i am making a report by part number (mtl_system_items.inventory_item_id), and i need to include which order number/release its the next one to arrive, and also the promised date, i don't know the relations on this module, and if any of you can give me any advice of how to do it or if someonte already make this, it will be very preciated. Thanks in advance.

I think you need to show the next purchase order for which Items are going to be received. If so, Purchase order details are stored in PO_HEADERS, PO_LINES.
link org_id,organization_id and inventory_item_id and 'approved' purchase order with inventory table (mtl_system_items).

  • How long will it take? --OR-- Which order will arrive first?

*So, let me fill you in on my order timeline (debacle)...*
    • July 5 ... I placed order with AT&T *on the phone* for 2 16GB iPhone 4's with 2 new lines of service. (first time iPhone buyer, new -- actually, coming back -- to ATT after 11 yrs w/ Sprint.)
    • July 7 ... I received and accept the Terms & Conditions agreement... but because of _order entry error_ my order could not be processed.
    • After I make some twitter-gripes I get pinged by AT&T's social media team offering to help.
    • With a couple of exchanges and phone calls, I was assured that my order would be fine -- my order can proceed even with the error/wrong information not needing to be fixed -- and should expect it in 7-14 days.
    • July 12 ... I checked my order status online only to find that there is no record of my order.
    • I called to find out what was up... I explained my story to the AT&T CSR and he took it upon himself to FIX the error/wrong info. _Little did I know that *this action would cancel my previous order and place a new one*, in spite of being assured that my previous order would remain in tact_.
    • July 13 ... my credit card was charged for my order.
    • July 15 ... my order status is available online... it says "processing" and is "backordered."
    • July 19 ... an AT&T social media rep voluntarily calls me to connect me to an order rep... she tells me that I should have been told 7-14 BUSINESS days (which I have no recollection being told that, nor reading that in any documentation), and *given that my order was placed on July 12 (and NOT July 5)*, I "should expect delivery by July 29"! (CSR's words)
    • July 19 ... went to physical ATT Store to place an order for 32GB iPhone4 -- intending to return 1 of the 16GB and pay the difference. _At this point I am running an "experiment" to see which order will arrive first_.
    • July 20 / 9am ... the online order status check shows NO RECORD of my previously existing order -- where'd it go?!!?!?
    • July 20 / 3:30p ... ahhhh... must have been a server glitch b/c I can see my order again.
    • UPDATE: July 22 ... no change for my 2x16GB order... no change on my 32GB order.

my 32GB order arrived at AT&T Store… went to pick it up but could not walk out of the store with it lest the 2x16GB order get cancelled!!!!
The super-nice and cool CSR informed me that because I have a pending order tied to the number I am porting over, if I were to activate my new 32GB, then he’d have to cancel the 2x16GB order (as of today, that order is STILL backordered). What’s more, I cannot walk out of the store w/ the device because I paid for the “subsidized” $299 price point for a 2-year contract… and I can’t initiate a 2-year contract with out canceling the 2x16GB order!
CSR said he’ll hold my device until I receive the 2x16GBs.
    I’m stuck… and so, I wait… again…

But when i search CALL CUSTOMER on SAPMF05A program, i not found nothing.
Please any tip for solve this problem
    Thanks in andvance

    hi
What ever u r telling is correct. But if it very urgent, u can try like this. You found some user exits right? So go to SMOD and give that exit name below select component radio button and press display button. You will get function module exits. If you have access, then go and give some small logic (any thing like c = a + b) inside the function module and put break point. Do for all exits like that and come back.
Once you completed above process in all exits then go to f-48 transaction give some inputs and press SAVE button. Check any function module where you wrote that small logic is triggering. If you find then you can use that function module for you purpose as i hope.
    Reward if it dose.
    Thanks

  • Restricting which orders stock can be issued to.

    Hi,
Is it possible to restrict which order types a user can issue stock to using transaction MB1A?
We would like to prevent users issuing stock to orders created by other service areas. This could be restricted by the order type or planner group of the order (bother are unique to a service area).
Can this be done using authorizations or config?
    Thanks.

I spotted it, thanks. I was unchecked, yet the swf would not

no-one reply. That time I did some experiments and it seemed
    that swf which

    OK to import.
The swf where the graphic was placed into the library and
    then used
dynamically with attachMovie(), work fine on its own, but
    would not get

    Hi folks,

how to establish relation beween two factables.
    Thanks
    Ravindra KAvali

    Hi kavali1985,
According to your description, you want to build relationship between two fact tables without common dimension. Right?
In Analysis Services, to build relationship between two fact tables, at least you need to have "common" column in both tables which can link these two tables. If so, we can create a fact dimension based on one fact table, then build the relationship
with the other fact table. Please refer to link below:
