There are no challenges that are specific to PM as an individual module for as long as you know your stuff, but I have come to understand that in some organizations they require a PM Consultant to know CS as well but in some cases PM consultants do not know the module hence you need to stretch your knowledge. Personally I also think that you need to speak the client's language in order to understand the business processes otherwise there are no big challenges as far as I am concerned

I am stuck on i very critical issue, i am not able to solve it, I am SD consultant, i wrote this issue on FI forum also, but i did not get complete solution, they write me back it is SD issue.
When i create a new sales order and click enter, a small screen open and message displayed on it "Error occurred in Derivation Rule, See long text"
And when try to save sales order in display incompletion log. When i press on edit to complete it message display " Item 10 ... Missing data- Profitability Segment No.
When i press on complete data - Account Assignment screen open (Business Area 9900)
Would you please send me solution with complete path to fix this problem

I have tried KEDR transaction issue also but nothing happened.
This is BIG challenge to all SD consultants now. Send me step by step solution

to get a solution you need to provide the members of this forum with details regarding your PA set-up.
PA is normally very customer driven, so not standard.
Without information regarding your structure there you will not get any solution.

I'm not a functional consultant but what I would suggest is querying projects responsibilities (Security > Responsibility > Define) "search for %Project%" and see which one should be assigned to your projects users.

What type of project it may be(implementation or upgradation or rollout), the role of an ABAPER(Technical Consultant in short ) is to code, test and debug applications in ABAP.

hi subhash,
first you have to see what kind of modified business processes are followed in ECC6 as compared to version 4.6.sure you will get to know which fields are new in MM cycle. then prepare document for technical guys about the same so that they can provide same funcationality by modifing code of 4.6
second some time technical guys not able to under stand which kind of information is requred in perticular case(report) then MM consultant can help them for understand the business requirement.
they can also tell from which table a technical person can fetch the data.

CIC0 :: customer interaction center
Move-in / Move-out
Action box settings
Config for CiC0:
Step 1:
Create Framework Id( assign hidden & visible components)
Step 2: Create CIC profile
Step 3: create Org unit and assign person
Step 4: Assign CIC profile to Org. unit (or) person
Path : Easy access screen
Logistics>Customer service>Customer Interaction center>Adminstration>CIC structure>Org.Structure(Change,T.code-PPOMW)>select Org. unit
In this screen on the top i.e menu bar find Go To
Go To>detail Object>Enchanced object description
Now u r in Maintain object page(T code-PP01)
Now in the Active tab page select CIC profile
Now in menu bar Edit>create infotype
Again u r in new page(T code-PP01)
Enter the CIC profile Id which u have created in customizing
Run T code- CIC0

Hi,
Most of the upgrades are techinical, I would say 80%-20% (Tech. to Functional).
One of the most imp. role would be doing integration & regression testing and also documentation of all the changed process, screens, etc.
Also,
Preparing the new BBP would be one of the tasks.
Checking the SAP notes, etc.
Helping the developers by running the upgrade tool & using SPDD & SPAU t-codes (optional).

Need few answers in understanding the SAP BW Workflow in a Company..Any ANswers to the questions would be highly appreciated as this would help me in making it easier before joining my job..
Please answer the below questions concering an OFFSHORE
BW Consultant working for Imlementation Project..Bcoz thats where i would be standing
1) what exactly are the responsibilities of an SAP BW Consultant in implementation Project?
how does they differ from development project?
2) how will be the work flow right from creation of the project specs (both technicaland functional) to the go-live implementation, how does the peolpe at various hierarchy levels fit in this scenario? like who creates the specs, wher do they send it, who is responsile to verify them? from which point SAP BW Consultant is involved in project, whom should he report to? this kind of work flow..( Related to OFFSHORE DEVELOPMENT CENTER)
3) What r the responsibilities of onshore and offshore people in an implenentation project,what do u mean by a client steering committee, how r they seperate from the rest of the people in the project?
4) How would a technical spec look like any screen shots?......how do they come to u in a soft
or hard copy?....Whom do u approach in case of any clarifictions?....can you specify how the
offshore development centre hierarchy is defined who r the people involved here?
5)Wher will an implementation BW Consultant work in real time( Dev, Prod, or sand box)servers.
after creating the objects needed we transort to QA, how will be the work flow related to
transportation of objects and work flow of handling transport request errors when they arise?
like who reports the errors to whom? this ort of flow..
6) whats the duration of work in DATA Modelling part of the project, how much time does it
take to model objects like cubes, ODS etc by customizing Business Content to satisfy

7) How often do we interatct with the client or any onsite consultants?
8) what exactly are the roles and resonsibilities of functional, technical people in SAP implementation project?

Some knowledge in basis and PI admin is an added plus as I have found from experience that basis is not quite sure of how to solve PI basis issues and many a time comes back to the consultant for help/clarification.
Roles would obviously depend on the project scope but in general we can put them as design, develeopment, testing, some basis/admin roles, scope determination as to where we need to use PI etc.

Some functional knowledge will always be an added plus but considering that a PI consultant might need to work with different areas, so knowledge in all such areas is definitely not possible.

some basic java knowledge (string handling, java beans), Abap knowledge plus knowledge in the SOAP protocol, xml/xsd handling, SOA is sometimes required.

Hi Sam, as suggested by Vishnu you have to keep in mind the following things in mind:
If the company require a new company code?
Is it for new business and is it for reporting purposes.
What is the Copy company code to create new company code?
What are all the changes you need to modify for the new company code after you copied? Name, address and some configurations
Get acquainted with the country specific settings for Tax and Assets for Accounting Purposes.

Can please someone suggest me what is the best Certification Path to my goal, I couldn't find any direct Certification on Oracle Projects, all I could find was Certification in GL, AP, AR, Supply Chain, Order Mgmt and HR.

For Functionality Differences pls refer to the below site -

After opening the site, please select the Source Release Version which is 4.6 b Then Select the Target Release Version which is "mySAP ERP 2005" or ECC 6.0
Select the Solution Area like Financials, Human Capital Management, Sales....
Select module like MM, PP, SD, QM.....
Click on Search
Then it displays the Release Version and the Delta Functionality. which can be downloaded to a word document if required.
and also check the release notes of ECC 6.0 in service.sap.com.

SAP IS Retail Consultant role in ongoing (Post Go-live) support varies from Level 1 to Level 3 as well as client to client.
Mutually agreed tasks are part of Statement of Works (SOW) reflects in Contract / Agreement. So, you can refer SOW to know complete role.
In mean while, are you supporting Indian Client or Foreign Client?
In general, Support consultant should carry out following tasks;
(a) Trouble shooting in master data and transactional errors
(b) Training
(c) Interaction with team on proactive basis
(d) Facilitating to get MIS Reports
(e) Preparing FS document for Inhouse reports
