Chameleon?

I've seen this new application or os for the Android tablet from the developers of Kickstarter (correct me if I'm wrong) that's called "Chameleon". I have to admit it looks very nice and I was wondering if Apple was/is/or already has something to compete with it? I mean in all honesty, we all want something just like they are developing for our news feeds, Facebook feeds, tweets, weather, time, articles, blogs, and so on all in one place. It may even have people considering to convert from the IPad to an Android tablet, I know it has struck my interest with the thought. Hope someone can help me more with this information or an app they recommend like this or to put an idea in Apples head. God bless.

Turns out that I have that super awesome Chameleon Virus on my Iphone 5s (according to an apple support guru), does anyone know how to get rid of the stupid thing? It's blocking me from any wifi connection, among other things (taking information, did I say it's super?) Any advise would be greatly appreciated (I am sure I am posting this in the wrong forum, but I couldn't find anything on virus')
The Chameleon virus does not infect iPhones. It does not even infect Android phones. It does not infect PCs. It does not infect Macs. It does not infect Linux. It ONLY infects WiFi access points. And it doesn't do anything. It is a "concept" virus developed by security specialists in Liverpool to demonstrate that a virus can spread across adjacent WiFi networks.
If you have a WiFi problem we can help troubleshoot that. But forget the idea that it's a virus that is causing your problem.

  • Point grey chameleon camera

    Hi,
I'm trying to talk to a point grey chameleon USB camera with Labview using ActiveX.
I was able to register the DLL and display the live image and change the settings (shutter, gain, etc.). When I tried to get the image data using the "GetImageData" method, Labview crashed with the error message "Exception: Access violation" (See the attached figure). I also tried to using the "SaveImage" method. It sometimes crashed, too. But it can only save 8-bit pgm files and we need to have 16-bit (12-bit actual resolution).
    I'm using Labview 2011 SP1 (32-bit) on windows 7 (64-bit). The camera model is CMLN-13S2M with the Flycapture 2.3.1.8.
Does anyone get the camera to work properly to be able to get the image data in 16-bit?
    Thanks,
    Joseph

    Hi,
I have two suggestions for you. First I would like to recommend you follow these steps to verify that there is no problem with your dll and project configuration:
Make sure you are using the same calling conventions as the DLL.   When using C calling conventions, the caller is responsible for cleaning up the stack.  When using Standard calling conventions, the called function is responsible for cleaning up the stack.  If the caller (LabVIEW) and the called function (your DLL) don't have the same calling conventions, then they will either both take things off the stack or neither of them will.  Either situation will certainly cause LabVIEW to crash when your DLL function returns.
Make sure that all inputs on both sides of your Call Library Function Node are wired. If the left side is not wired then the DLL will write over unallocated memory.  If the right side is not wired up,  LabVIEW will assume that your DLL does not need or use that allocated memory and will use it for something else.  Your DLL will then overwrite reserved LabVIEW memory space, causing LabVIEW to crash.
Make sure your DLL is not overwriting LabVIEW memory.Frequently DLL functions will take allocated memory as input, write to this memory, and return it.  If not enough memory is allocated or the DLL writes more than has been allocated, the DLL will overwrite reserved LabVIEW memory space and cause LabVIEW to crash.  For example, consider the following function: double *Waveform (double *waveform, uInt32 size); The proper way to allocate the memory in this case is to initialize the array with the appropriate size prior to calling the DLL.  The image below demonstrates the proper method.
Make sure that LabVIEW is passing parameters to your DLL in the format that your DLL is expecting. If LabVIEW and your DLL do not agree on how a parameter is being passed (by value, reference, handle, etc.), then it is possible for your DLL to unintentionally point to some random place in memory.  This can cause faulty data at best and LabVIEW or Windows crashing at worst.
If you built the DLL in LabVIEW and you are showing the front panel of the DLL, then there are two strict requirements to make it work.
The Call Library Function must be set so that the DLL call is Reentrant. This is set by changing the execution category (under the Browse button) from Run in UI Thread to Reentrant.
The calling VI (the VI from the LabVIEW development environment that is calling the LabVIEW built DLL) must not be running in the User Interface execution system. This can be checked by selecting File»VI Properties»Execution and making sure that the execution system is standard, instrument i/o, data acquisition, other 1, or other 2 (same as caller may run in the user interface system if the parent VI calling this VI is running in the user interface system).
My second advice is to use the National Instruments Vision and Acquisition software to interface LabVIEW with you camera.

  • How to interface with Chameleon camera

    Hi everyone,
I am trying to use Labview to control Chameleon camera, which is from Point Grey Research. I am using the ActiveX control interface and I have encounter a problem of using "Call Library Function" node. I am using that node to get the image array from a pointer and trying to display. However, the "Call Library Function" node doen't work.
I am wondering how can I get the  image array from a pointer that is used by the FlyCapture?
Was there anyone experience the same thing?
    Thanks.
    Carson

    CarsonZ,
Please check to see if your camera is supported by the Industrial Camera Advisor. Also, when you say that the Call Library Function node does not work, does it return a specific error message or just not return any data?
Lastly, is the FlyCapture application an ActiveX enabled application? If so you should be able to register for events and also pull the information from the application by running through this help document.

  • Troubleshoot JAXB "chameleon schema" Errors

I am trying to use xjc from JAXB 2.1 to generate Java code for the HL7 CDA R2 format. Unfortunately, there appears to be errors in XML Schema files and so xjc fails with this exception.
The XML Schema files can be downloaded from http://xreg2.nist.gov/cda-validation/downloads/archives/HITSP_C37_TestPackage_03Jan_2008.zip.There are total 7 Schema files, and their names are: LabCDA.xsd, LabPOCD_MT000040.xsd, TF_Vol3_Lab.xsd, datatypes.xsd, datatypes-base.xsd, NarrativeBlock.xsd and voc.xsd. The relationship of the Schema files are complex: LabCDA.xsd is the top level Schema and includes LabPOCD_MT000040.xsd; LabPOCD_MT000040.xsd incluedes datatypes.xsd, NarrativeBlock.xsd and voc.xsd and imports TF_Vol3_Lab.xsd; TF_Vol3_Lab.xsd incluedes datatypes.xsd; datatypes.xsd incluedes datatypes-base.xsd; datatypes-base.xsd includes voc.xsd; voc.xsd includes datatypes.xsd.

JAXB has extra rules that it uses to validate the schema. I believe this is for simplicity in the code generation side. For example, you can't have a maxOccurs="unbounded" element in an "all" complex element, it must be in a "sequence".
In this case (and hopefully all others) fixing the schema so that JAXB will accept it is not going to hurt anything. A length requirement is both a maxLength and a minLength.
There are some rules I don't appreciate that JAXB tacks on. For example, if you import another schema into your binding schema, and don't use every type specified in the imported schema, it will balk. Why? I can't think of a good reason. It really makes it a pain in the ass to create reusable custom XML types. I have to have a different schema for every type.

Yes it did.  You just don't remember having to deal with it.
Photoshop does not ever install in the same folder as a prior version.  Thus CS5 will not see the plug-ins that have been installed in or under the Adobe Photoshop CS4\plug-ins folder.
Thus you will need to install your plug-ins again, pointing them at the CS5 area.  Some (as mentioned above) may need to be upgraded.

  • SCCM 2007 AND Managing Laptop Connected with NetMotion (VPN) and Chameleon Cellular Connections

We could use some assistance if anyone is doing any of this.
We have mobile laptops that are used out in the field:
    They have SCCM client
    Netmotion VPN
    Chameleon Celluar Connections
    Two things:
    1) Is there a piece of SCCM 2007 currently that could manage these (we see SCCM Mobile--but that appears as like smart phones, iphones, ipads, etc).  These are toughbooks (panasonic laptops) and they need to utilize several applications) .  We
need to manage these differently than laptops with Direct Access.
    2) We do not want these people receiving SCCM pushes or inventory or WSUS (this is done through our WSUS server) pushes while on cellular network.  When they come back from the field and hit our wireless or connect via network, we would like them to
    receive these types of pushing throughout the night.  Problem:  They set up and configured the laptops to make this cellular Chameleon appear as a fast network and doesn't appear as a device off these laptops.  Several pushes are reg advertisements;
although we are moving to mostly task sequences.  Which most of you know a regular advertisement will allow us to stop on a slow network, but the task sequence advertisement does not have those capabilities.  So we are in a dilema.  Again that
only took care of pushes and not all the other things SCCM related we do not want to happen.
How do others handle remote toughbooks in the field on cell connections where the techs want them to appear as fast connection, yet stop SCCM packages from delivering on them or anything like inventory being done on them.
Techs are investigating a rule on Netmotion that we might put in place, we have also thought if setting up a boundary on SCCM related to these Netmotion machines being as 10.0.0.x being slow, but we are unsure how to stop everything or write a correct rule
to stop anything SCCM related while NOT connected via network or wireless?
Ideas, thoughts, pieces of SCCM 2007 that we have no invesigated, etc?

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up.
Honestly, I would look at CM12 for this. CM12 added a number of features for the exact issue.

I have seen other threads that have different reference numbers, but none with this one?
    Thanks

Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode and try the preview there.  If it works then you'll need to order the book in Safe Mode when you're ready to order unless a solution is found before then.
Are you ordering an XL sized book by any chance?  There were some issues with that but it should have been fixed by iPhoto 9.4

No - you there is nothing more to explain - you boot into safe mode as described in the link in my post and try assembling the book while in safe mode - nothing more to it
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • Point Grey Chameleon Exposure Parameter

I am completely new to labview and want to control the basic parameter Exposure of my point grey Chameleon camera, but I have had no luck. I looked at this thread and the VI they presented, but I dont see any property for exposure control.
    https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/capturing-chameleon-raw-data/td-p/2270666
Then I read in another thread that we use the FlyCapture software to set the exposure through there and set the camera default, but this seems so roundabout for a simple parameter.

    Hi Richelle,
The errors that you mentioned usually occur after the host PC's USB controller reports a USB transaction error. According to Intel's specification, a transaction error is any error that caused the host controller to think that the transfer did not complete successfully.
Since you've already tried the device on another computer, we know that it's not a problem with the USB controller in the computer. Do you have another USB cable you could try to see if that's what's causing the disconnection issues?

  • I fixed my Extension Manager Issues.

A customer of mine came in today with his Apple Hackintosh system, running OS X Lion 10.7.1 with all updates done, and the Java Library already installed.
The issue they were having was to do with Adobe Extension Manager just crashing about 10 seconds after opening, it would not load anything just sit with a grey screen for a few moments and then just crash.
I ran an application called fseventer on his system and watched as the application opened to determine at what point it was crashing, each time I noted that the crash was something to do with the extensions being loaded by Adobe InDesign.
I opened InDesign and all seemed to be working correctly.
At this point I un-installed the entire Adobe CS 5.5 Master Collection and ran the Adobe cleanup utility, the re-installed the entire thing on International English, with all the applications.
Opened Photoshop and ran the Adobe Update Manager, to download and install every update.
Opened AcrobatX and ran the updater, to download and install all it's updates.
I repaired permissions on the entire drive through disk utility, rebooted onto Disk Warrior, repaired the directories, rebooted into single user mode ran the fsck -fy / command, and booted into the main account, not the root account.
Then I tried to open Adobe Extension Manager, same thing just a crash. Then I tried Adobe InDesign and that was still working just fine.
I opened my main hard disk, and went to this path "/Applications/Adobe InDesign CS5.5/Configuration/" in there I opened the file XManConfig.xml like this
In terminal type this to first backup the original file then open it and edit it.
    BACKUP THE FILE
    sudo cp -R /Applications/Adobe\ InDesign\ CS5.5/Configuration/XManConfig.xml /Applications/Adobe\ InDesign\ CS5.5/Configuration/XManConfig.xml.bak
    EDIT THE FILE
    sudo nano /Applications/Adobe\ InDesign\ CS5.5/Configuration/XManConfig.xml
The first line of this file should look like this
    <Data key="UserExtensionFolder">$UserDataFolder/Adobe/Adobe InDesign CS5.5/Configuration/Extensions</Data>
all I did was comment that line out so it now looks like this
    <!--<Data key="UserExtensionFolder">$UserDataFolder/Adobe/Adobe InDesign CS5.5/Configuration/Extensions</Data>-->
then I wrote the file with CTRL O, hit enter to save over the file with the same name, then CTRL X to exit the nano editor, then type exit in termal and quit.
Open AdobeExtension Manager and it is working.
The commented out line is pointing to a directory here
    /Users/YOUR USER NAME/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/Adobe\ InDesign\ CS5.5/Configuration/Extensions/
I have no idea what this directory does, but with it commented out I can launch Extension Manager, and I can still open InDesign without any errors, if I rather delete the contents of this folder and leave the line of the xml file untouched, these extensions just repopulate themselves as Extensions Manager begins to open, but maybe 1 loads then a crach, then 4 the next time then a crach etc.
So I would stick with just commenting out the line on the XML file.
I would love it if you guys could give me your feedback on this to see if anyone else finds this method to work or not.
I have done installations on other Lion systems for customers on real mack not hackintoshes and have fount them all to work without an issue, in fact i did an installation on another hackintosh too and that worked well, only this one so far, I think it has something to do with the fact that this hackintosh had to have a modified kernel and a DSDT file to rectify an issue of having to use a chameleon command of cpus=1 busratio=25 -v as this would only allow one thread of the cpu to function, this command is no longer required as the kernel and DSDT are rectifying the issue and still allowing all 8 threads of the cpu to function as normal.
The reason I think this could be the cause is because I am sure Adobe does not account for every permientation of non vanilla Apple installations, these so called chocolate kernels are a bit different to the Apple one.
Anyway I hope this helps out someone. I am off on holiday now but I will keep an eye on my emails in case anyone needs some assistance with any of these commands. I am going on an adventure holiday to the Victoria Falls to do a microlight flight over the falls. The reason I tell you this is so you do not wonder if I never return.

have you tried other solutions in this forum? Such as use sudo command, rename XManConfig.xml, delete ~/Library/Preferences/macromedia, grant write permission to some folder...?
It's possible to install extensions without Extension Manager. The method depends on the type of extensions.
    1. If your extension is a zxp file, then you can unzip the file and copy those files within it to their destination manually. The extension would work in corresponding products. You can unzip it with Winzip, 7-zip, Winrar or similar softwares (actually it is a zip file).
1.1 If a file with postfix ".mxi" exists within zxp file, you can paste this mxi file here, I will tell you where each file should be copied to. (mxi file is a xml file).
1.2 Otherwise you can find a file named "manifest.xml" under CSXS sub-directory. Please open it with a text editor, you will find ExtensionBundleId="someText" in second line. Write down the value of ExtensionBundleId. Close this file. Create a new folder under "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager/extensions" and rename it to what you write down. (For example, if you find ExtensionBundleId="KulerSample" in manifest.xml, then name the new folder as KulerSample.) Copy all files and directories which you unzipped from zxp file to this folder.
    2. If your extension is a mxp file, it can not be unzipped directly. Please upload it to this forum as attachment, I will convert it to a zxp file then return it to you.

  • Need to boot broken Mac-Mini using retail Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD

    Hi,
    In Summary:
    ==========
I have Mac Mini (late 2009) which does not boot anymore and I need to install Snow Leopard using retail DVD (version 10.6). The OS/installer from the DVD does not seem to boot either. I always very much appreciate the efforts of true geeks. So please, any casual beginner, please do not demoralize with something like "cannot be done" etc.
    The complete story:
    ==================
    The start of the problem:
    1. All of a sudden, one fine day, on start up, my Mac Mini strated to shut itself down without no apparent reason to me. When trying to boot, it would show a progress bar for about 5 minutes - I am assuming that was disk-consistency check being performed. My best guess is that right after the use of Carbon-Copy Cloner (but I am not 100% sure) it all strated to happen.
    2. Performed Mac's Disk-Util check and [Verify Volume] used to display "invalid directory item count, should be 31 instead of 29". Surface scan said disk hardware is 100% fine. Volume Repair never worked, since OS X was installed on the primary disk. I lost the DVDs that came with this Mac Mini, so the option to boot from that DVD and launch Disk Util etc. was not possible.
    TechTool Pro - No Help:
    3. Started googling and had to choose between [TechTool Pro] and [Disk Warrior], opted for TechTool Pro. Tried its bootable DVD only to learn that TechTool Pro cannot fix it. Again, it's surface scan suggested disk hardware is 100% fine. Sent the details to TechTool Pro support team, they couldn't help either after a couple of e-mails+data exchange. (How do I claim my lost money with TechTool Pro - suggestions appreciated as well).
    Googling / Mac Forums:
    4. Started looking into forums, learnt that someone had successfully repaired this problem using Ubuntu 11.04 install DVD (i.e., without installing the Ubuntu, but just using its 'try from DVD' feature). I had that handy, but forgot to disable HFS+ journaling before attempting to fix the problem. Anyway, attempting volume repair that way couldn't fix the problem as well. However this step took away my ability to boot from Mac.
    5. However using Ubuntu's bootable disk, I could access Mac-HDDs contents - and was able to successfully back-up *all* my important data.
    6. Googled and learnt that just attempting to boot using Ubuntu DVD can take away ability to boot using Mac bootable media - possibly due to EFI internals. Suspecting EFI is now corrupt, I tried other 'hacks' like:
6.1 eEFIt Boot Disk - which does not work at all,
6.2 Empire EFI w/ Chameleon - not sure how to proceed with options presented - trying either does not work,
6.3 Super GRUB2 - boots fine, but attempting to boot from Mac-HDD fails after a couple of seconds,
6.4 Boot-132 - boots fine, prompt asks for input, but then I cannot eject/replace the DVD due to Mac-Mini (lack of) design,
      6.5 Ubuntu 11.04 / 11.10 - still boots fine - just that I cannot go into Mac-OS-X from here,
6.6 TechTool Pro bootable DVD - which used to boot fine earlier stopped to boot.
As you can see, none worked successfully. So I didn't yet try other popular rescue media - as I suspect that is not the direction I need to go into.
    >> Looks like most of my problems are due to the fact that I have Mac-Mini which does not allow eject/replace of DVD from command prompt / out side of Mac-OS-X.
    7. Tried emptying EFI partition, playing with EFI/Mac-OS partitions boot flags, Zapping the PRAM, nothing still allows me to boot either from Mac-HDD or any Mac-Bootable-DVD.
    Current State:
    8. Now while boot time, Mac displays a gray screen for a few seconds, and then a blinking prompt on black background. That's it!
Snow Leopard 10.6 Retail Install DVD:
    9. Went to Mac store and bought this DVD only to witness that I can't boot from it as well. (This is a huge shocker, how is Apple able to sell these DVDs if these don't work on genuine MacMini itself. After all we are able to boot from and install Windows/Linux on a variety of Machines).
I am hoping for a very small step/fix that I am missing, since I can still see and access all Mac-HDD contents after booting from Ubuntu bootable DVD. However I am prepared for a good amount of exercise as well - assuming someone posts a valid/verified fix.
    Things available right now:
    ==========================
    A. Genuine Mac-Mini (Late 2009) who lost it's ability to boot either from its HDD or Mac-bootable DVDs (TechTools Pro, Mac OS X retail DVD)
    B. Mac OS X 10.6 Retail DVD
    C. NOT AVAILABLE - DVD that came with this Mac-Mini
    D. Variety of rescue DVDs, listed in section 6 above
    E. Another machine/PC with Ubuntu 11.04 - giving me ability to access internet
    Thanks for reading.

I had a similar discussion recently with another user.
Your Mac mini (late 2009) originally came with Mac OS X 10.6.2 build 10A432 or build 10C2234 see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1159 it would have come with an original install disc specific to your model of Mac which you could use to run Disk Utility from or to do a complete reinstall.
The retail boxed copy of Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) was originally intended for older Macs which had previously come with Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.4. It would have on it a version of Mac OS X 10.6 or 10.6.1 which would be able to boot these older Macs, but had no need to boot newer Macs which were released after the launch of Mac OS X 10.6 since all those newer Macs already shipped with their own discs.
So it is normal that the retail boxed Snow Leopard installer does not work on your model Mac mini. You should be using the one that shipped with your Mac mini instead. I am guessing you have lost it.
Assuming you have lost the Mac mini original disc, I can suggest the following options to try and workaround this.
If you have another Mac, an older Mac, one that will be bootable using the retail Snow Leopard install disc you have, you could do either of the following.
Connect an empty external GUID partitioned hard disk to this other Mac
Boot from the retail Snow Leopard installer
Install on to the external disk
Once the install is complete, update it using the combo update not the one via Software Update to Mac OS X 10.6.8. This will add all the newer drivers needed to allow it to work on your newer Mac mini. You can download this combo update from here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
You can now disconnect the external drive and connect it to your Mac mini and boot from it by holding down the Option key when you turn the Mac mini on
or a similar process if you want to wipe the Mac mini and reinstall directly on to it
Boot the Mac mini in FireWire Target Disk Mode (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1661 )
Connect the Mac mini as an external hard disk to the other older Mac
Boot from the retail Snow Leopard installer
Install on to the external disk
Once the install is complete, update it using the combo update not the one via Software Update to Mac OS X 10.6.8. This will add all the newer drivers needed to allow it to work on your newer Mac mini. You can download this combo update from here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
You can now disconnect the Mac mini and boot from it as normal
Note: While the Mac mini is connected in FireWire Target Disk mode to the second Mac, you could backup (if you don't already have a backup) any files you need to retrieve.
If you don't have a suitable second Mac you may have to either borrow someone else's, or get the help of an Apple Store if one is in your area.

  • Multiple Copies of Same Song:

    Hi,
The title may indicate that this is probably a redundant post... I don't think it is. I searched several terms with no success for my question. Here goes:
I'm curious about why I have two folders per artist: one in /Home/Music/ and one in /Home/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/. Is this supposed to be the case? Also, if I search for a particular song name, like 'Chameleon' by Herbie Hancock, I find that there is one file in iTunes Music under 'Compilations' and two copies in Music, each in the Herbie Hancock folder:
    Chameleon.m4a and Chameleon 1.m4a
I would hesitate to believe these are duplicates, as every song in my each of the artist folders in /Home/Music/ has two copies of itself a NAME.m4a and NAME 1.m4a. It also didn't seem like any of the versions were mere aliases - they all said MPEG 4 Audio File under type, not Alias...
Is this normal? I just started up iTunes, which says I have 11.49 GB of music, however the /Home/Music/ folder has 20.36 GB, telling me that it appears I have some duplicates.
Can I delete one or the other of the various artist folders?
Last, seriously last - sorry if this actually has come up and I missed it. I searched 'duplicate folders', 'duplicate artist folders' etc. to try to find a post that answered this and didn't see quite the same issue, mostly people wondering how to manage duplicate songs they imported off different CDs or named the artists just a bit differently so they got two artist folders within their iPods...
    Thanks!
    -John

    Here's the post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6975543&#6975543
It may not address your exact situation, but basically from what I gathered from it, if you have the option mentioned checked in your iTunes preferences, you can be reasonably assured that everything in iTunes was copied from elsewhere and iTunes has maintained it's own version. I guess in your case, you may want to look through iTunes, and if you don't see anything glaringly missing, delete the things in /Music/ because iTunes has copied it's own version into /Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/.
This is at least my take. I probably don't have as much music as you do - it took me about 10 minutes to open two finder windows next to each other and go through the Music folder, check to see if a folder for the same artist/album existed in iTunes Music folder and delete the duplicates. I had about 10GB of music (unique music, that is... the Music folder had about 20GB from the duplicates). Depending on how much you have you may or may not want to do this!
Also, check out Consolidating your library (from iTunes, Advanced > Consolidate Library). I believe this searches your system for music/photos not in iTunes and puts them in if they are not and leaves them alone if they already are. The you can be sure that everything you need is in the iTunes folder and delete all the rest. I'm sure the help file would say more about this option.
    Good luck!

  • USB/DirectShow camera not showing in NI-MAX

I've got a Point Grey Chameleon CMLN-13S2M USB 2.0 camera and it is not showing up in NI-MAX.
I'm well aware of the Directshow registration problems with the PGR cameras, and as far as I can tell the camera is properly registered.  It shows up with no problems in AMCAP, a simple Directshow viewer, and also in Skype.
I just uninstalled the PGR drivers and spent a while going through the registry to delete all references I could to Point Grey and PGR.  I then reinstalled the 32 bit version of the latest drivers, v2.5 beta 2.  I also upgraded the camera firmware to the latest.
    I'm running
    Labview 2012 SP1 f2, 12.0.1
    Vision development module 12.1.0
    MAX 5.4.0f0
    NI-IMAQ 4.7.2
    NI-IMAQdx 4.1.0
Any ideas?  This is a side project and I've been working on it off and on now for more than a year and I've got to get this camera working.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, I still see the camera with other DirectShow viewers after the reinstall.  The latest Point Grey drivers give the option to register the directshow drivers during the installation.  I assumed that this worked since the camera shows up with the other DirectShow viewers, but I also manually registered the files according to the instructions in your links just in case.
I believe that a year or more ago ago when I was running an old version of LV (2009, I think) it did show up in MAX.  I had upgraded a few of the LV components piecemeal, but when my university upgraded to 2012 I decided to uninstall and reinstall with the latest versions of everything.  I have never seen it listed in MAX, red x or not, since I uninstalled the old version to upgrade.
I have used a camera from a different company and it worked fine.
I found that the 32bit directshow cameras are listed in the registry at
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{860BB310-5D01-11d0-BD3B-00A0C911CE86}\Instance
and I verified this by modifiying the "FriendlyName" registry key for the camera that does show up and observing that the name changes in MAX.  The point grey camera is listed here in the registry but does not show up in MAX.

  • 100% CPU! HALP! w/ Win 8.1 Pro infected by malicious content that reoccurs even after a factory restart. I've tried near everything malwarebytes, win defender, I'm still too new to effectively use MMC, or GPEDIT.MSC,

Some form of malicious content is assaulting my PC's registrys, drivers, along with portraying as other Users, and programs. It's a constant struggle to keep my property, authority, permission under my control over security ownership of my files etc. I
have seen PUP and PUM files in scans, I'm still learning the different forms of malicious content, but I have a feeling there's male-ware, root-kit, and ad-ware that I haven't Identified. Even though my network is private, haven't even created a home-group,
and all my remote access is turned off, but I haven't ruled out someone still being clever enough to access my system/network remotely. I've tried to keep my computer as secure as possible, multiple passwords, and two-step verification I thought I was going
off the deep end when I started to suspect my SYSTEM profile had been compromised. I can't tell if it's a phony, or actually my system taking away everything until I literally cant do a thing on my computer.  I didn't want to remove any files that I shouldn't.
When ever I feel that I'm about to lose complete control over my PC I restore it to factory condition, it's about all I can do. Even after 5 restarts it's persistent. I"ve stopped short of using the more extreme programs like Anti-maleware tool Adlice,
RogueKiller, and Combofix. I've actually learned a lot about script, and IS no thanks to my computers new little friends. I've been dealing with this malicious content since december upgrading OS from 7 up to 8.1 has really been the only thing my computer
and I from being completely run over. Some newer up to date advice would be great, I don't want to use out of date or ineffective programs the instructions I've been following are sometimes several years, to at least months old. No point in waisting my time
if the information is irrelevant and out of date. I'll attach some of my reports, and the progams that I have/haven't used yet. I have several MS accounts, from XboX, college, and this old one I was contemplating on putting all three of them in an admin group,
making it more difficult to challenge my authority, or maybe just joining a workgroup/domain would also work. Last night I did use GPEDIT.MSC to disable inheratance, followed by a taking global ownership, if it I actually managed to get GPEDIT.MSC to can't
wait to get my hands I"m kind of enjoying myself though, it's been fun teaching myself IS I always wanted to learn how to use CMD script with proper syntax, I was starting the think that my only solution was to learn command prompt, but there may be a
newer programm that just might work. I've been using reginout, drivertoolkit, MBAM/backup/chameleon, ncleaner, cclearner, and many others. I've scanned but haven't put combofix, roguekiller, or Adlice to the grind stone, I'd probably do more harm not being
able to tell whats more benine for beneficial. Here is a link to the instructions that I was following https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/149492-pcregserviceexe-infection-pup-infections/ the members description was also very close to what I was
dealing with, he just had better luck with MBAM
