Change a universe connection in webi

Hi All
I want to change a connection within webi to point to a diff universe
many thanks

Hi Allen,
This is a limitation of the Query-HTML panle that you cannot change the Universe for a Webi report. This option is not even available in the Interactive Mode in XI R2.
In BO XI 3.0, along with Java Report panel the Interactive Report Panel also offers the functionality to change the Universe. This feature must have been added considering the same need.
Thanks,
UT.

  • AUTHENTICATION MODE setting in universe connection.

    Hi All,
I have an issue Related to Universe designer connection. Our system is BOE XI 3.1(Fix pack 1.3),sap integration kit, universe connection is based on sap bw query.
Main problem is i created a universe with connection to sap bw query(when creating the connection and there in connection for AUTHENTICATION MODE i set it to (*Use single sign on when refreshing reports at view time).* i am able to create reports using this universe in webintelligence in infoview and as well as rich client. But if our developer uses the same universe and creates Rich client report he is not able to create the report, but he can use infoview and the webintelligence reports are working fine. One more point he is able to use the same universe if the connection is modified by setting Authentication mode to Use specified user name and password then its working fine in Rich client. He is not able to create the universe in his machine setting this authentication mode to Use single sign on when refreshing reports at view time its throwing error  unable to connect to sap bw. But if he specifies the authentication mode to Use specified user name and password its working fine. I was able to create the universe with any type of authentication mode on my machine.

    Hi SK,
Can you Please make me clear first what is your intend to create the connection  (*Use single sign on when refreshing reports at view time) for creating universe.
I have the solution to guide you Guys Please be clear to me what is your intend to created universe connection with (*Use single sign on when refreshing reports at view time) for creating universe.
I am confident there is no need to change the universe connection to (*Use single sign on when refreshing reports at view time)for this simple issue right now.
Please do keep me posted if you need any issues related to BOBJ.
One Suggestion Please never use the word Main problem as a BO GUY.
Nothing is impossible with BOBJ tool .

  • Crystal RAS SDK - Change universe connection details

We currently have a large number of Crystal Reports that have universes as there data sources. I have been trying via the RAS SDK to change the database connection without success.
I can access the table definition and return the relevant propertybags but as soon as I alter these the report it is corrupted - I can correct the corruption by using the Set Data Source option. I need to be able to point the report to the same universe but in a different folder currently the only method we have is to recreate the query against the universe.
We are using Business Objects XIR2 SP4 and Crystal Reports XIR2
Does anybody know if this is possible or have any code snippets to share.

A Crystal Report references Universes by either the Universe SI_CUID or SI_SHORTNAME value, so should not depend on the folder location of the Universe.
As you've seen, trying to modify Universe info in a Crystal Report using RAS will break it.
When you create a Crystal Report against an Universe, the Crystal Report Designer connects to the Web Intelligence Report Server to back the Query Panel.  After the query is created, the SQL statement is retrieved from the Web Intelligence Report Server and defined as a SQL Command in the Crystal Report itself.
The RAS, by itself, does not have functionality to connect to the Web Intelligence Report Server - if you try and manually change the connection info using RAS, the most likely outcome is report that just won't run.

  • Connection from Web Intelligence over Universe to SAP ERP without SAP BW

    Hi there,
is there a way to create a Universe which ic connected to SAP ERP (ECC 6.0) ? I want to use Web-Intelligence to create the Reports for my ERP-Data. But i don't want to make the way over SAP BW.
Otherwise i have to use Crystal because Crystal + SAP ERP Integration Kit can handle a connection to ERP. But then i have to waste a lot of time for the accuracy to a pixel which i dont need and i dont want...
    Any Ideas ?!
    Thanks

    Hi
    you have 4 options:
    1) Load your SAP ERP data into an SAP BW system and use OLAP universes to build WebI reports.
    2) Use Rapid marts for SAP. This product comprises Data Integrator mappings that will allow to load your SAP ERP data into a predefined DWH based on a relational data source (like DB2, MS SQL Server or Oracle). It also includes a universe based on the predefined relational DWH that will allow you to build WebI reports.
    3) Use the Data Federator with the SAP R/3 connector. Please note that the R/3 connector is NOT a product rather a prototype tand will be used at own risk (SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence Reporting for SAP ERP [original link is broken])
    4) NOT RECOMMENDED: Try to access the tables directly in the underlying database. Please note that this may work for some but not all of the ERP data. In several case the data are stored encoded in the underlying tables and there is no way to extract the required information. Additionally the ERP security will not be leveraged into the WebI report.
Crystal reports is the currently the only BO reporting tool, which supports direct access to SAP ERP data sources.

  • Error when refreshing WEBI report with Universe Connection Type "SSO"

    Hi Experts:
We are trying to refresh the Webi report in Infoview with Universe Connection set as "Use Single Sign On when refreshing the report at view time", so that we can leverage SAP OLAP authorization variable from Bex Query which the Universe is built on.
However got the error of "incomplete logon data" after all the configurations done following below blogs:
    SNC Part 1
    /people/ingo.hilgefort/blog/2009/07/03/businessobjects-enterprise-and-client-side-snc-part-1-of-2
    SNC Part 2
    /people/ingo.hilgefort/blog/2009/07/03/businessobjects-enterprise-and-client-side-snc-part-2-of-2
We already have Win AD SSO to SAP setup, and in BO CMC, Win AD user is mapped to SAP user ID.
    The SNC settings are:
    - AD Account: service.test.bobj (all lower-letters)
    - 32-bit gsslib on the BO server, and 64 bit on the BW server side.
    - SNC0: p:service.test.bobj at DOMAIN
    - SU01 --> BO_Service ; SNC: p:service.test.bobj at DOMAIN
    - Entitlement system tab --> username: BO_Service
    SNC Name: p:service.test.bobj at DOMAIN
    - SNC settings tab:
    SNC Lib: c:\winnt\gsskrb5.dll
Mutual Authentication settings: p:SAPServiceBP0 at DOMAIN
In CMC, the role can be imported if "RFC activated" option unchecked in SNC0.
I found a few threads on the same topic, but they are all not answered:
    SNC Client side configuration error
SNC Configuration Error: Incomplete logon Data
Can you please provide details of the solution if you have impleted a same scenario successsfully, or any thoughts to help the investigation?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Jonathan

    Hi Ingo,
Sorry for taking so long to reply, we are trying to set up server side trust and enable SSO; but we still couldn't success.
    What we did is:
    1. We followed installation guide chapter 6, generate certificate and PSE, etc. All looks good.
    2. Then we still have the "incomplete logon data" error when refreshing webi report after logon using Windows AD user ID.
    3. Then we trace the PFC connection, the log is as below. We checked several BO notes, e.g. 1500150, 1461247.. The part bothers us is that we even don't have URI displayed in the log when system trying to use SNC, and we couldn't get more info on this which make us very difficult to diagnosis.
Can you please help? Thanks a lot!

  • Cannot connect to Web Service to change IP address

Already said, I have a LaserJet Professional P1606dn printer, had it for a while now. Someone sent a print job to it, nothing out of the ordinary, and all of a sudden, it printed that print job over and over. I checked in the print queue, nothing was there (not even on the server where the printer is stored). We save the printer settings and the driver on the print server and install it on machines through the server. We turned it off and waited a few minutes, then plugged it back in. It was okay until someone else sent a different print job. Started spitting out the print job from before (then one printing over and over). I did a factory reset on the printer. Needless to say, it changed the IP address (but did not change it to 192.168.x.x). It kept our domain's IP but the last number in the IP address changed. I figured the IP address would change and I was okay with that. Here's the problem: I printed a Configuration page with no issue and it gave me the IP address. However, when I try to log on to the printer via the Web Service (putting the IP address in a web browser), the page times out and says it can't be displayed. All I need to do is go in and change the IP address to a static IP address (back to the original IP address).  Under "Network Information," the status says "An unknown error has occurr" but the rest of the sentence/error is cut off. I'm not sure if it gives an error code or just stops with "occurred" or what. And unfortunately, the printer does not have a display screen so the only way I can change it is through the Web Services via a web browser. I've tried Google Chrome (my default browser) and Internet Explorer. Both browsers timed out and said that the page couldn't be displayed.

Could be your network.  What I would do is connect the printer directly to a computer using a crossover cable.  I would recheck the ip address on the printer and make sure the computer has an address with the first 3 sets of number the same and the last digit on the computer 1 off from the one on the printer.  Then use the web browser on the computer to see if you can attach to the printer.  If you can you can then change the ip address to what you want.  Keep in mind most times when you have the issue you are having the issue is the driver and the computer sending the print job.  In other words the q may be empty but the printjob file in the windows subdirectory has not cleared.  Sometimes you have to go in and physically delete the printer.  It could be on the server, but sometimes it is on the local machine.

  • Can universe connect to restful web service which is not soap based

Can universe connect to restful webservice? I know it is allowed to connect to SOAP webservice. Currently is using WSDL1.1.
How about restful web service which does not have any wsdl file?

    Hi,

  • How to change the universe in Web I

    Hi,
I need help, I have created several reports already and I used the old universe in my Web I report. The universe was changed to a new name.
My objective is to minimize effort of creating a new query and drag again the objects.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rose

Not for XI-3.x for all versions it is there.
Just goto Query Panel--> You can see "..." next to universe name (Older versions)
                                    --> Properties --> "..." next to universe name(Latest)
Just click on "..." button and point new universe, make sure that previous and latest must be have same structure.
    Hope it helps...!!
    Thank You!

  • Crystal Reports for Enterprise and universe connections

Hi, I have noticed an issue with Crystal Reports for Enterprise that may give many administrators a headache.
If a BOBJ user has access to a sensitive universe (eg HR or Finance data) to run pre-built WebI reports from  (but not create new ones or edit the universe) then they must have been give data-access to that universe's connection object. Security on the universe and folder could prevent them from accessing information from the universe they shouldn't see or editing the reports and creating new ones.
However if the same user is given access to Crystal Reports for Enterprise in order to access other data sources, then the fact that they have data-access to the above universe connection object now creates a security problem.
Crystal for Enterprise allows a user to open a universe connection object as a data-source. If the user opened the connection for the above 'sensitive' universe they could see all the data in the database - avoiding any universe level restrictions in the process.
What is the suggested way around this? There doesn't appear to be granular enough security to prevent users with data access on a connection object also using that object to create new reports in Crystal for Enterprise.
The only way around it I can see is to deny the user access to the sensitive universe output altogether, but this changes the whole business process for the team involved.
    thanks
    Keith

I have a couple of thoughts:
    1.  Create a special reporting user in the database that only has access to a set of views that don't include the sensitive information.  Then create a universe based on those views which uses a connecting that logs in as that special user.  Give the folks who don't have access to the sensitive data access to this connection and universe instead of the universe and connection that include the sensitive data.
    2.  Since you have BO, you should have a support contract.  I would report this as a bug.  However, SAP may tell you that it is "working as designed", in which case you could go to IdeaPlace (https://ideas.sap.com/) and add this as a requested enhancement.

  • Changed DSN in connection object but reports still use value from old DSN

We're running BObj XIr2 SP4 and have both WEBI and DESKI reports. Most of our DESKI reports have two data providers, one from a universe (header/footer info) and one for free-hand SQL (report data). We are testing in preparation to upgrading all our databases to SQL2005 and have created a new DSN which points to a SQL2005 database to be used by our universe and free-hand SQL connections. We modified our existing connections to use the new DSN and to use the SQL2005 database engine. Our WEBI reports are working just fine and are returning data from the SQL2005 database, but on the DESKI reports the header/footer info from the universe is correct but the report data is coming from the "old" SQL2000 server. If we create a new DESKI report and export it, it retrieves data correctly from both data providers, but the existing DESKI reports, which use the same connections, have the same problem. The new DSN exists on the app server and points to the correct database.
We were hoping that, like the WEBI reports, the changes would be transparent to the reports, but that doesn't seem to be working. Is there something we must do to get the existing DESKI reports to recognize and use the new connection parameters?

Interesting - So, please let me know if I understand this correctly: If I create a new shared connection using DESKI or Designer on my workstation, it is saved to the server and creates an entry in my local lsi file but doesn't impact the lsi file on the server? If I later modify that connection via DESKI or Designer on my workstation, my local lsi file is changed but the server lsi file is not changed, meaning that any report using that shared connection running through InfoView will not use the new connection parameters but will use the "old" parameters from the server lsi file. If someone then modifies the connection via DESKI or Designer on the server those changes are reflected in the server's lsi file, but if I run a report using that connection via DESKI on my workstation, it will use the parameters from my local lsi file. That would mean that someone could actually delete the connection on the server and I could still run the report in DESKI?
It also appears that the free-hand SQL reports can't use secured connections so I can't by-pass this issue by using secured connections...
I'm assuming that secured connections don't work this way since our Universe connections were modified on the workstation and saved and work correctly.

  • Data Federator data source not available causes Universe Connection error

I created a Data Federator project that connects to 20 servers across US and Canada.  All data sources are SQL Server 2005.  The DF project maps 40 source objects into 4 target objects.  I created a universe based on the DF project and we have been quite pleased with Webi query response.  Today one of the source servers was taken off line and this generated a connection error when trying to access the universe (not trying to access the data source that failed).  We do not want the universe connection to error when one source server is not available u2013 is that possible?
If the answer is no then I see us abandoning what appears to be a great solution for real time distributed reporting and resorting to ETL and moving data.

    Hi Chapman,
Can you be little elobrate on what you have done to solve the issue.
