Change AppleID

I changed my apple ID recently.  However, when I try to access iTunes store from 'settings', it shows my old apple ID and will not let me access it.  I need to update my iTunes on the iPhone but can't because it's still trying to use my old cancelled ID.

    Hey jamesarm97 & diegofoto,
On August 21st, some users may have been unable to access iCloud services for a short period of time. Apple worked quickly to resolve these issues, however you two may have experienced them. To check the current status of these systems please see:

  • Changing AppleID across multiple devices

I currently have an email address associated with iTunes, iCloud & my iPhone that I no longer use anymore.  I would like to change them all over to a new email address but don't want to lose purchases.  How do i do it?
I thought I had done it but I kept getting prompted for my password related to my old email address.
Also....the one place I couldn't seem to change it was on my iphone when I went to Settings>ICloud>Account.  there isn't an option to change AppleID.  it appears to be locked.....

Did you create a new Apple ID or change the primary email for your Apple ID? Two different things and the latter is the correct way of going about the process
Go here > Apple - My Apple ID
Manage your Apple ID and change your email address. After you do that change the Apple ID used on your device(s) for all of Apple's sevices (iTunes, iCloud, Messages, FaceTime, etc.)

Apps are permanatly assigned to the Apple ID used to download them. You cannot change this and apps are not transferable.

Scroll down... Delete Account (big red button). Note: This only affects the device

You won't be able to change the ID. You must use that first one.
You will have to remember it.

  • I've changed AppleID and now can't update Apps. Help!

I've seen lots of discussion on similar lines but don't seem to find any solutions. To be clear, all I've done is follow instructions from Apple regarding how to change AppleID. I did this as old email account was about to become obsolete. Which also means I can't just change back. When I now try to update Apps, the password popup has the old AppleID hardwired. If I sign out and in with new AppleID this does not change. I don't recall any warning from Apple that changing my AppleID would create this problem. I am now dead scared that it is being treated like a new account which will also cause me problems with music downloads etc. From the amount of similar complaints online I would not seem to be the only victim here. Does anyone have a clear answer to this?

On your iDevice, make sure you first log out then log back in with the updated AppleID.
Settings > Store, tap the account name then Sign out and Sign in.
The AppleID used to purchase the item is embedded into the item at time of purchase.
If you have simply updated your AppleID, just use the current password when the old AppleID shows up. You don't need to (and cannot) change the AppleID to the new AppleID.

  • Is Apple Just Messing With Us or What??! (Can't change AppleID!)

This is seriously messed up! Not only can I not change the AppleID on an iPod Touch... I cannot even log in... never mind that, I cannot even VIEW messages on this forum any longer!! Not through my Firefox browser, anyway - viewing an old message from this forum in Google takes me to the create account page! There's not even an option to login if you already have an account! Its only possible to access this forum in Safar, even after I changed my UserAgent in FF to Safari/Mac! This is messed up! Anyway... the main problem:
    1. I just want to change the AppleID on an iPod Touch (IOS 8.3). This is not an "insanely great" experience.... it's an "insanely bad" one! First off, every IOS8 guide on the net I've been able to find on the subject does not work! They talk about a DELETE button that does not exist! Ok... so its "sign out". Well there is no "sign out" only "sign in". But fine, i created an iCloud account. Except I can't access this account via iCloud on my web browser, says "ICloud Encountered An Error While Trying To Connect To Server". ...Rubbish! It simply won't log me in no matter what! Not even on Safari browser! (I know it's not an Apple-side server problem when another AppleID logs me into iCloud without issue!).
    2. There are now TWO places to sign in on the iPod, "iCloud" and "iTunes" -- I tried signing in the new iCloud account in both menus, no go! (In the iTunes menu, it keeps showing the OLD AppleID email address!). The error I get is "Your AppleID Must Be A Full Email Address To Sign Up". ....Rubbish! It's a HOTMAIL email address, how much "fuller" can it get? This insane error points me to the AppleID website to fix the problem, but does not say how the heck you are supposed to fix it once in the site! Well, all I know then is I click "Manage AppleID" button, there is my Hotmail email address, all verified and green check-marked.
Yet the iPod won't accept the account!
I"m more of an Apple expert than anyone I know... are they serious??! Apple really expect regular customers to go through this and understand why its not working? I can't even come close to sorting out this problem!
Does anyone out there know how I can change the AppleID on an IOS 8.3 iPod Touch?? Please help save a brand new iPod Touch from being maliciously smashed with a brick in an irrational last straw effort at revenge!

    Hi,
There is no network problem - this is not a network problem thing. The problem accessing this forum may be restricted to Firefox... but it is still a very weird problem, the likes of which I have never seen. I don't know what is causing this behaviour, but I don't see how Firefox alone would cause the site to redirect to the create account page. Thus I was convinced Apple Discussions was restricting people from viewing solutions and participating here, if they did not use Safari!
Now as for the problem with the iPod... There were no restrictions set. It turns out, the reason I could not log in to the account via the iPod nor via iCloud (on the web), had to do with the account itself! Despite having changed the password to this account, despite the AppleID site telling me the email was verified and green-checked, the Apple ecosystem choked itself on this account! it was a Kafka-esque nightmare trying to use this account; whereby the AppleID site would tell it me it could not find the account (when I entered the name, etc), and then when I tried to create a new account using the information I entered to find the unfindable account, the site would tell me I could not do that because that account was already registered!!
If I did not know any better, I'd have to assume the entire AppleID system was programmed by grade school kids on their lunch break.
The solution to this hours-long nightmare came from simply creating  a new account with a new email address. Suddenly, the iPod and everything accepted that information!
With Apple making their customers jump through hoops of fire like this, I'm now starting to understand why so many people are opting for Android devices!

  • Problem changing AppleID Name

    Hello,
I am having problems changing my AppleID name. On Apple ID summary, it shows my moms name. Before I was 18 the billing information was under her name. Now I have changed it to my information. When I go to "Account Details" it shows my information, but when I go back to Apple ID summary, it still showers her name. How do i fix this or who can I talk to, to get this changed?
    thanks

There is no an easier solution?
    Thank you !

  • Changing AppleID in iCloud on phone

My AppleID in the settings>iCloud tab of my iphone4 is incorrect.  A box pops up to tell me that it is incorrect, and I can either edit or ignore. When I select 'edit' the account information pops up: AppleID, password, and description.
the problem is this: it will allow me to change the password and the description, but the appleID is in grey text and therefore unavailable for editing. UGH.
my appleID in the store is correct.  my appleID settings are verified as correct on the myappleid part of the apple site.
What am I missing?  Why won't it allow me to change it?  I'd really like to get the cloud up & working!
    thanks.

Settings>Store>tap on your AppleID.  Log out and log in with your new account info

  • Changed appleid, then changed back and now apps don't update

I recently changed my appleid to a new email address, resulting in me not being able to update any of my apps from the previous appleid, (and trust me i tried everything), but now i switch it back to the old appleid(after hours of problem solving) but now the old apps ask for my old appleid but when i try to update them nothing happens, i enter my password then nothing happens. litterally goes back the saying an update is availible but everytime i try to update the app it doesnt. Please help

Please provide more detail. How was your account changed? What changed? What errors do you get (if any) when trying to update an app? We are kind of going blind here with such vague description of your issue.

  • Duplicate purchase, Region change AppleID, Purchased Apps

Hi I have little problem here.
I had US iTunes account and purchased some apps mostly for free (both free apps and some sales) now I moved to Czech Republic I don't have US credit card anymore so I changed my AppleID's country to CZ. Now there's two things, applications that I purchased but deleted them for later download is not anymore in my "Purchased" so I can't download them again and apps that I have in my library and go to their page in iTunes I have to buy them again (there is price on the download button) I tried to change back my country so I can solve the issue number one and redownload all purchased but I can't because of the US credit card and "None" is not in the options. Another thing is that for apps that I have in library there are some updates but iTunes will show me the number of updates but when click on it it says me that there are no updates avalible maybe with another AppleID, but AppleID haven't changed. I tried bought one app that I had previously to find out if it will be charged or just downloaded and it was charged, so I had to report a problem and the money will be send back, but I don't want to do this with all apps I have and I don't want to try it with another app if maybe that was a unusual case.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hello,
Have you tried to connect to internet through a Proxy or VPN with a connection point in your native country where you purchased most of your stuff?
I am not sure this works but if I were you I would give it a try
somtimes you can find free VPN service included with the purchase of other services such Newsgroup Acces or NAS Network Area Storage.
Some Free VPN (or small FEE VPNs)  offers serveurs ending up in US,UK,GERMANY,FRANCE you can choose from.
Then you will appear to be connected from the selected country
this might be some workaround to try out
Good luck! and tell us if it works!

  • Changing AppleID seems to make iTunes forget music selections

Greetings.  I changed my AppleID a few days ago.  I just connected my iPod classic to sync it, and noticed that all my selections had disappeared.  I use 'Selected Playlists, artists, albums, and genres" to choose the music that goes on my iPod.  It took quite a long time to get it the way I wanted.  The iPod is in good shape and I can see all my music is still there if I click the disclosure triangle in iTunes.  But no music is selected to sync (same goes for podcasts).
It's my suspicion that my AppleID is somehow stored on the iPod and now doesn't match what I changed it to.  There's little or no music on there from the iTunes store, so I don't think it's a matter of copy protection.  I'd really, really hate to have to reenter those choices by hand.
Of course it's possible that something chose this moment to fail, but I think it's more than coincidence.  Has anyone else encountered this?  More importantly, has anyone found a way to fix it?

Was probably a dumb question on my part. If you switch to manual management I don't think you get to see any selection boxes on the Music tabs etc.
As far as I'm aware the device is tied to the Library rather than the Apple ID. I don't have multiple accounts but I've certainly updated devices when I've explictly signed out of the store without any issues such as you describe.

  • Can not change AppleID when trying to update software

    Hi!
I've bought a Imac and trying to update iPhoto og iMovie, but the software update will not let me use my own AppleID to install the updates. Instead there is shown the AppleID from the shop where I bought the computer. Anyone know the solution to change the AppleIDs?

You need to either delete unnecessary files or move them to an external hard drive.
The updates indicate I wouldn't need nearly that amount of memory why the discrepancy?
Post a screen shot of the updates your are trying to install.  I don't know what would be causing the discrepancy.

  • HT1539 Reauthorize digital downloads after changing AppleID username.

Hello. My dad changed his AppleID username after redeeming digital download codes and now the movies will not authorize to play under his new name, they keep asking him to enter the old name which no longer exists. Is there a way to re-authorize those movies?

The camera is loaded by hotplug; I couldn't get that devmode stuff working with fstab... The usb device files have proper permissions... actually, I'm not certain of that, now that I think of it. I'll check it later... So it's not actually mounted as a filesystem, it's using GPhoto.
yikes, just wait until I start making sense.
anyway, yeah, I was looking more for some kind of umask option in konqueror. I'm not too familiar with this fancy GUI crap...

  • Changed AppleID doesn't work as expected - System shows old AppleID

A friend of mine switched her AppleID in their OS X system. E.g. she changed the respective preference panel.
Unfortunately, the switch didn't work as expected: If she tries to download application updates in AppStores, the system allways presents the old AppleID. Additionally, she isn't aple to change the AppleID value in the respective dialogs.
Since she changed all places she is aware of, the system effectively prevents all updates since a far too long time now...
    Questions
Did someone know how to effectively change the AppleID system-wide?
Should she delete a certain *.plist file?

The actual email address doesn't matter. Once it is created as an AppleID, it is just a text string that is used as the username for iCloud, iTunes Store, Mac App Store, etc. It does get used as a contact email, but you can associate any number of email addresses with that AppleID. The password used for the AppleID should be different than the email address, but could be the same if you choose. Regardless, there is really no link between an email account and the AppleID, besides the same text string is used.
As I stated earlier, AppleIDs cannot be merged or transferred and the purchases on one AppleID cannot be transferred to another. Whatever AppleID was used to purchase the items has to be used to update them or reinstall the OS.
It doesn't matter that she created a new AppleID. The purchases on the old ID cannot be transferred to the new AppleID. The old email address (which isn't an email address but a username for the AppleID) pops up because that is the AppleID that was used to purchase the OS. Nobody can change that, unless Apple decides to change its position, which I doubt it will due to security concerns.

  • Updating apps after changing appleid

I have just changed my email address and so I have attempted to change my appleid.  I am having trouble getting my apps to migrate to my computer after signing in with my new appleid.  Will apps purchased under the old id migrate to the new one?  Once the appleid is changed is there a delay in the system for having the change recognized across apps/programs?

I want some more info here. Did you only change the EMAIL that's associated with your Apple ID, or did you actually change the whole name of the Apple ID?

  • HT204268 Can't change appleid from AOL address

This does not work for me. Tried signing out and in again and got no on-screen instructions on how to change my appleid. Not very happy. Anyone know what the magic words are?

I would assume that the process only applies if you have used an AOL Screen Name, without a trailing @aol.com part, as your AppleID. If you happen to be an AOL user but your AppleID is something like <user>@aol.com then you don't need to make any changes.
