Change audio levels/pan on multiple clips at once?

Hey folks, any idea if there's a simple speedy way to change the audio level or pan of multiple source clips at once? Not adding a filter etc but just going into clip and making the change, doing these manually one by one right now and would love to find a batch way to do it.
any help appreciated.
cheers, J

Select the level and pan criteria you want on one clip; ctrl+click and select copy. Highlight all of the clips you want to change and then ctrl+click one of the clips and choose Paste Attributes. Select Audio Levels and Pan and all of your selected clips will have the same levels as the original one.
You can also select a number of clips, select from the pull down menu Modify>Levels, and there you can adjust the levels of your audio for all of the clips selected.

  • Changing volume in multiple clips at once?

Im going crazy pulling the volume level up and down to the same level in multiple clips, are there any way to mark the clips and change the level in all of the at once?

    Several ways to do this.
    select clips
CMD ] to raise 3dB, CMD [ to lower 3dB
CMD - to lower 1 dB, CMD + to raise 1dB
CMD OPT L to enter a numeric value either relative to the current level or absolute level

  • How do you apply an EQ filter to multiple clips at once?

i need to EQ a VO and rather than apply the filter to each clip serparately, is there a way to apply one filter to multiple clips at once?
    thanks
    carl

apply your eq effect to one of the clips and adjust settings as required, then select every other clip that you want to apply this eq to, and then drag and drop the effect (from the viewer) onto one of those selected clips ... it will apply to all those selected.
another way, if its the only effect on the clip, would be to apply and adjust the effect, select the clip with the applied effect and press cmd-c to copy, then select all the other clips you want to add the eq to and press opt-v to paste attributes ... in the window select audio filters (only)

when editing info, how do i select multiple items to edit a group? For example, changing the artist name on multiple tracks at once?

Same way you select multipl items anywhere else.
Hold ctrl and click the items you want.
If they are in consecutive order, click the 1st then Shift click the last.

  • Changing the display profile for multiple users at once.

Is it possible to change the display profile for multiple users at once? We would like ot be able ot add tabs and channels globally, but right now we can anly do it for once user at a time. Also, is it possible to have certain generic display profiles that all users use? like an admin profile and a tech support profile and a normal suer profile? Any help is appreciated...

Yes this possible using the dpadmin batch command.
Please check the dpadmin documentation for the batch command.
For generic display profile what you can do is create users and assign the user particular roles. The display you would be creating would be for the roles. The users belonging to that role would inherit that display profile.

  • Changing Audio Levels

    Good Morning,
I want to change the levels of audio within a single clip.  I used to know how to set the points in the audio line, but for the life of me I can't remember how to do it.
    Thanks for your help.
    Andy

option-w will show keyframes in the timeline.  You can then click on the pen tool (or hit p) to put in key frames directly in the track in the timeline.  Shift-T will toggle thru different heights for the tracks in the timeline which can help you and doubleclicking of the audio clip in the timeline will load the clip in the viewer where adjusting keyframes can usually be done with greater ease and precision.

  • Audio Level Adjustment for Multicam Clip

    Greetings,
I have 2 issues while some audio tweaking for a Multicam edit.  I have assigned the audio for a single angle to apply to the entire sequence.   There are some clips in the sequence where, at times, I cannot adjust the level of the audio.  It will show the level when clicking with the selector, but it cannot be dragged up or down.   Stranger still, if I select it within a series of clips and use CTRL -/+ to change levels, it is unchanged even though all the others changed.  There is nothing differnent about the clips in question (they are not Compound Clips or anything.)
Restarting seems to often fix the above problem.  But it seems to be happening enough that it's a real inconvenience.  Also I am having similar issues with the audio level meter freezing up intermittently.  Sometimes when I toggle audio skimmer it can correct it for a while, but once it starts, a restart is inevitable.   Does anyone have any workarounds for making this work properly?
One last question that is not a glitch but a functionality I hope exists but cannot find.  Given that I have one angle of audio for the entire clip, I want very badly - and feel like it should be possible - to make adjustments to the audio as I would if it were one continuous clip; for instance, to be able to select a range across the clip transitions and adjust levels accordingly.  So far the best workaround is to select all the clips and use CTRL -/+ to adjust.  But this allows less control, because I must then go in and adjust sections of clips on the ends that I did not want changed.   Would love to  know if anyone knows a way!
Thanks for your time and assistance!
    Brian

I would think it would be easiest to open the muticlip in the Angle Editor where you would have a clear view of each individual angle and its audio.

  • Audio level different in compound clip

Experiening an odd audio behaviour. I have created a compound clip and them dropped in interview into it. After that I place a compressor on the interview audio and set it to agerage at -20db. Once I them place the conpound clip onto a project the audio level in the peoject drops by -5db. I need to bump the project audio up +5db to get it back the agerage -20db it is in the compound clip. I have tried this on 2 systems with the same exact results.
Is this the way it is supposed to behave? And if so why? Seems to me the audio level should stay consistant from the compound clip to the project.
    Mike

That's odd. When you change the compound should update. Bring the compound clip into the project. Double click the clip to open its component clips. Make any change that's easily reversed – say, disable a clip (V). Close the project. Create a new empty project. Bring the compound to the new project. The disabled clip should not be visible.

  • If I change audio levels in AE CS6 from 0db, it decides to output left channel only.

This is a bug that's been prevalent in every iteration of AE CS6. I'm updated to the most recent version. This is also something I've seen around a lot of forums, but nobody has an answer.
If I change the audio levels on any audio track from the default 0db, the RAM preview only plays back the left channel which completely breaks the way I can properly work.
If I render it out, the audio is fine... it's clearly only on RAM previews. But rendering out things to check audio levels is not a solution.
    Any idea why this happens?

  • IMovie '08 on my mac mini '07 drops audio levels at ends of clips no matter what I do to stop it!

In some but not all of the clips in my project, the audio level drops down for the last half second or so. I have tried every effing audio setting including setting fade to 0 seconds manual, normalizing, not normalizing, and every combination I can think of, but it's just not working.
When I google this problem, I find a few unanswered questions going back to imovie 2 in 2003, but no solutions short of remove the auto fade and set manual to zero, which again, isn't working for me. It really ***** to spend a whole afternoon working on a project to have it corrupted beyond repair. Anybody have any ideas of how to fix this, short of getting adobe premiere and/or a newer mac or even, a windows machine?

Ok, here's another set of step-by-step instructions for configuring an extended network. Please give them a try to be sure you didn't miss anything.
Dynamic WDS - Extending a Wireless Network Setup
If practical, place the base stations in near proximity to each other during the setup phase. Once done, move them to their desired locations.
Open AirPort Utility, and then, select the base station that will connect to the Internet.
Choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open the configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then, click Wireless.
Choose “Create a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, select the “Allow this network to be extended” checkbox.
Next, select the base station that will extend this network, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Choose “Extend a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, choose the network you want to extend from the Network Name pop-up menu.
Enter the base station network and base station password if necessary.
Click Update to update the base station with new network settings.

  • Move multiple clips at once

I often have to move multiple layers of clips or still images and keep their position relative to each other. In AE and in PS I can select multiple layers and drag their position around freely, but in Premiere Pro, I can only drag one layer at a time.  Bouncing to AE is not a solution for me because everything I work with needs to be timed with multiple layers of audio at all times.  Nesting is not a solution for me because I need to be able to adjust each layer independently as well.  This is a feature I would use (and did use in FCP) dozens of times every day!  I really need this.  Any chance it's coming in a future update?

    Hi Chris,
Hi Kevin, I resurrected this old thread today so I'm not sure if the original poster is still around but thanks for the replies.
    Sure, no problem.
The After Effects work around is quite long winded for what seems like a very simple task, but I do appreciate your point about how FCP was designed differently from the beginning.
Indeed, it really seems that way from the outset, but AE launches really fast these days. You can set up these kinds of comps very quickly and be back in Premiere Pro in no time. Remember how Motion and FCP used to work together? I think of it in the same way.
Sure it would be better if Premiere Pro had all the goodies FCP had (like this feature), but it's a totally different application and so you may have to adjust your expectations.
I'm sure it's not the case of just changing a couple of lines of code in Premiere, unfortunately! Hopefully the "multiple clip parameter editing" and "horizontal/vertical lock" features can be implemented in the future.
That's often the case, but the question is then "when would we have the time to write and test that code when there are 800 priorities ahead of it?" The key is feature requests. The more we get for any one feature, the faster it rises to the top of the list of priorities.
If anyone else would like these please submit feature requests! http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
You have the right idea. Thanks!

  • Delete the space between multiple clips, at once, on the timeline?

Is there a way to delete the space between multiple clips on the timeline with one click?
I trim clips on the timeline, so I can have a couple hundred clips with space between on the timeline.  Is there a way to delete all the spaces between the clips at once?
Right now I have to ripple delete the space between each clip, big hassle and a lot of key strokes. Is there a better faster way to trim clips in general?  Or delete the spaces on the timeline?

I have not used the source monitor much. Can I use the sourse monitor to make a lot of cuts "clips" out of one big clip?  Say I want to take the highlights out of a long wedding ceremony?  Or do I need to do this one the timeline.  Edit clips on the timeline is very intuitive to me and I can do it fast, except for all the spaces betweent the clips.
Absolutely ( and I wouldnt do it any other way because it is designed for ease and speed)
    Try it:
1.Target a Video and Audio track in the timeline
    2. Place the long source file in the Source monitor.
    3. Locate the  first highlight and Set In and Out Points  ( KBD Shortcut "I' and "O")
4.Then Insert it to the timeline ( KBD "," )
Note: there are a number of ways of sending the selection to the timeline (eg.Insert / Overlay buttons, drag it to the Program Monitor, drag direct to the timeline). You can also take video only, audio only, both. Darg options have modifier keys for insert / overlay ripple-ing
Back to the source monitor (step 2)  and mark next highlight selection....repeat steps...etc.....
Ensure your CTI (playhead) is always at the end of the last clip in the timeline.  KBD short cut "End" and you will have no gaps to deal with.

  • 16:9 to 4:3, multiple clips at once

I know this is a well discussed topic, but I can't seem to find a way for going from 16:9 to 4:3 on many clips at once. I have a long piece with 16:9 interspersed throughout. Doing one clip at a time is becoming tedious.
    Thanks,
    Brian
G4 Power Mac 1.4 GHz processor upgrade, 2.5GB RAM Final Cut 4 QuickTime 6.5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Editing is tedious. Whoever told you different is lying.
BUT...this can be done. Change one clip then select it and hit APPLE-C. Highlight all the others that you want to modify and hit OPTION-V. This will paste the attributes of the first clip onto the rest. A box of the options you want to paste will pop up. Choose BASIC MOTION.

  • How to lengthen multiple clips at once

I'm working on a project that has seven tracks of video.
And every time i need to align all the tracks exactly the same length i have to
separately stretch each clip with the mouse.
I know there's quick way to make all seven tracks the same length with
just one click. Okay, maybe two clicks. Can someone tell me please?
Also, if I have a dip to color at the end of each of the seven clips on the seven tracks, do i need to remove each effect before I can lengthen the all the clips?
that seems is a very time consuming way to do it, and I 'm sure there's got to be a way to do that with a couple of clicks too.
    thanks in advance!

okay, i tried it and it works.
However, you still have to do one clip at a time.
Isn't there a way to extend the seven clips at once?
also, I have dissolves at the end of each of the seven clips,
however, the extend doesn't work with dissolves at the end.
I can't really select the end of a clip with a dissolve in it.
But I tried it anyway, and hit the "e" key, but nothing happened.
So, the extend edit works fine, but shouldn't there be a way to
extend more than one clip at the same time? and not have to take out
the dissolves one at a time, in order to do an extend?
    Or.. maybe I'm missing something?
    thanks!

  • Applying an audio or video effect to multiple clips at once

    Hi
Im an AVID user trying to transfer my skills onto FCP.
On AVID, to apply an audio or video mix to a number of cuts at once, you would mark an in point and an out point which encompasses the cuts you want to apply the effect to, then select "apply transition in to out"
Is there a FCP equivalent of this function or is it only possible to apply one effect at a time?
    Thanks in advance.

Select the clips and use Modify>Levels. Or the keyboard Control-brackets to go up and down.
For your transition issue you need to do this
