Change background of "require password after waking" screen?

I have my iMac set to require password after it sits idle for a specified time. Screen saver does it's thing and then when I come back and move the mouse or hit a button, I get a totally black screen with the password field.
I would like to change the color or image of that screen. It is not the same as the "login screen." It does not show the desktop. It's plain, black.
I'm not even sure what to call this view of OSX. Anyone have any insight?

See these links for Mavericks. It might work in Lion as well.
How can I change the login screen background on Mavericks?

  • How can I require a password to change the "Require password after sleep or screen saver begins" setting

My son has a habit of disabling the "Require password after sleep or screen saver begins" setting whenever my wife lets him play a game on her account.  I notice every other setting on the "Security & Privacy -> General" tab is protected by the lock on the lower left corner.  I've never understood why this one is not.  Is there any way that I can get that setting to also be controlled by the lock?

Because that setting is specific to the account currently logged in and doesn't potentially affect any others or the system itself, which is the level in general at which administrator or root access is required.

  • "Require password after screen saver begins" & "Start Screen Saver"

    Hello All,
Can someone tell me what the UNIX command strings are to set 1) "Require password after screen saver begins" on, 2) "Start Screen Saver" to 15 minutes and (3) "Disable remote control infrared receiver" via ARD? I have over 100 clients and it would be nice to issue the commands instead of walking up to each Mac spread all over the campus. Most of the clients are running 3.3.1. Thanks!

    Hello, Mike
There may be a command and the UNIX forums would be the place to really find the answer.
The problem is that each User has their own Screen Saver and Security settings. They are not global settings. If ARD is set up to access all of the other systems, then you can do it right from your office and flag which ones have been configured with the new settings with labels.

  • Iphone requires password after restarting??

    Hi.
My iPhone broke so my brother gave me his old 4s. I got it and it was jailbroken so i did a complete factory reset and updated it to the latest firmware. I gave it a full charge and the next day once it went to about 80% it turned off randomly, i tried turning it on, sometimes it would other times i would need to put it in charge again. It would always say once i had turned it on "Iphone requires password after restarting" so i assumed it was possibly a battery problem. So i bought a battery from ebay with decent ratings and replaced it. The iPhone no longer turns off every 10 minutes, but the battery does only last about 3-4 hours and usually once it goes to 15 or below it will turn off. Any idea what could be causing this?

I know it is normal, but is constantly restarting. As I said, this problem was happening every 10 minutes making the phone completely impractical before i replaced the battery, so changing the battery has actually made my phone usable and I actually get a good solid few hours on it whereas before i wasn't.
This would surely indicate that it is a problem other than the battery and its not really a question of the quality of the battery I have bought as the problem was persisting with the stock apple battery before hand.

    Please help!

    Hi, artzinoviev.
Sorry you're having trouble with your MacBook Pro requesting a password when you try and wake the machine up from sleep.
Seeing as it sounds like you have your security settings properly configured, you may want to try updating to the latest version of Mac OS X Mavericks.
The latest version is 10.9.2, and can be found in the updates tab in the App Store.
    Hope this helps.

  • Require password after wake or screensaver?

If my screen saver starts or my computer goes to sleep, I would like my computer to require password login upon wake? I've searched around various screen saver and power saver options, but I am not seeing this option. Can this be done?

    Hi Norm,
System Preferences>Security, first one on the bottom half, check Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver.

  • How to get Leopard to stop asking for password after waking from sleep mode

My regular userid does not have a password. When I boot the system, it goes directly in without asking for password. However, when Mac wakes from sleep, it asks for password. I just press enter.
Can I do something to make Mac skip over request for password when waking from sleep?
    Thanks.
(The Mac is sleeping, not me.)

Open the Security pane of System Preferences and turn that option off.

  • Sound Output changes from headphones to HDMI after waking from sleep

My late 2013 Retina MBP has had this issue since I purchased it last year, but I'm hoping there's a solution.
When I'm working at my desk, I have an external monitor connected via HDMI (and a 2nd via Thunderbolt). The Monitor connected via HDMI has (crappy) speakers. Even though I have headphones plugged in, when I wake the machine from sleep, the audio device will revert to HDMI.
Any ideas how to prevent this?
    Thanks

Others here are also suffering from similar problems after the last update.

For some installing the > OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.5 (Combo) over the top of the current 10.8.5 version solved the problem.

  • How to use Lion Server Profile Manager to require password after screensaver

Our Company is upgrading to Lion server. One of our requirments for network security is to require a password to wake the computer from sleep or screensaver. In SL Server you would add a key to the com.apple.screensaver entery in workgroup manager.
In Profile Manager in Lion server there is a custom setting section and I have tried adding a key there but it does not seem to work. Can anyone offer some help on how to put the require password to wake from sleep or screensaver in Profile Manager so the setting gets pushed out?

    Hi CodyCodes,
Just discovered the same issue today as well.  Further complicating things, the screensaver timeout setting in Login Window doesn't apply to Profile Manager clients no matter what the setting.  This was reproduced and confirmed by the Apple Tech I was working with.  He's submitted the bug to their engineering staff.  I requested that he ask them why there is no setting for password on sleep or screensaver.  Hopefully this is resolved soon, as this feature is 99% of the reason we're implementing Profile Manager to begin with.
    Cheers

    Hello
    My system:
    MacBook Pro 2012
    OSX 10.8.2
I have a problem with changing e expired Active Directory password at the logon screen.
If i type in the old and the new passwort, it appears a message with following text:
"The password does not meet the requirements of the server"
Even if i type in a password like Tes0t!*2013, the message appears and i can not
    change the password.
I have already disabled the "password must meet the password complexity requierements" policy in our default domain policy.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
    Thanks.

Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
    Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

  • Change Background on 3d Widget in full screen mode

    Hey,
I am trying to have a custom background to my 3d widget that will be seamless from the regular size to full screen. So far if I want a photo in my bg I choose none for the Inspector > fill and then place it ontop of my photo in my book, however that photo goes away and the background turns black whenever you click to go to full screen mode on the 3d object. Is there any way to get that photo to be in the "full screen" bg as well as the regular book situation?
    Thanks,
    Stephany

You can choose a background color or you can set the contents to a max size but I don't think you can stack up both contents image and background image once an image is tapped and popped large, sorry.

  • Contribute requires password after installing IE 7

After installing IE 7, Contribute (3.11) now asks for a

In the password file I set the password of the os
user oracle which owns installation. The Password for the password file is supposed to be the SYS password and not OS User oracle which owns installation.
I do not think the Oracle OS user password change is the problem. When you alter SYS password using the alter user command, it should change the password file automatically.
    Try
SVRMGR> connect sys/sys_password as see whether it works. If it does not, then check other issues.
