Change BI server  log directory location

We have very less space on our Bi server/log disk and nqsserver generating core dumps of size >6g causing the disk to fill up. due to incomplete core files there are of no use to analyze. This is what support says.
so ...
Q:
How can I change the BI/server/log to some where else? some other disk mount point.
or can I have only the core files go to other/different disk?

I think I figured it out...the startup script gives the clue..
Thanks .

  • Server Log file  location

Is there a default location for the Crystal Reports Server XI log file ? I needed to see it and am not finding it anywhere in the installation directory.

    should be drive:install folder\businessobjectsenterprise11\logging
    by default c:\program files\business objects\business objects enterprise 11\logging
the path will be different for XIR2 and XI 3.0 replace 11 with 11.5 and 12.

  • Change graph run log directory

currently for the server project, all graph run logs are getting created in /tmp/cloverlogs/graph. Per the documentation, I can redirect the log files by changing the value of parameter "graph.logs_path"
But can you someone guide me as where this change should be?
    Adding in workspace.prm didn't work
    thanks in advance

Thanks, but this is not working.. Here are the steps I followed
    - Under Installed JREs, added VM argument -Dclover_config_file=C:\Users\****\workspace\SalesProject\cloverServer.properties
    - created cloverServer.properties file in above location and added below line
    graph.logs_path=C:\Users\****\workspace\SalesProject\graphlogs

  • Change uid and home directory locations?  - no more netinfo manager?

    greetings,
just setting up my new MBpro with 10.5... i've discovered netinfo manager is no longer here... searched the discussion forum and have learned a little. i looked into the "directory utility", but don't see how to use it for configuring local user info... (seems to be primarily focused on network services, such as ldap)...
i keep 2 accounts on my computer - personal account for home use and work account for when i need to use my laptop for work. for my work account i need to set my UID to match that of our servers (suns)... i nfs mount suns, and access servers, etc. without the same UID, i don't have access to my network files when locally mounted... also i keep my home directories on a second partition and need to change the location of the home directory... all of these were relatively straight forward in netinfo manager.... but i have no idea where to access the configuration info that was in netinfo manager...
is there some kind of additional software i have to install?
    i'd appreciate any suggestions-
    thanks-

    great! thanks!!
ps - besides the fact that i can get my own unique environments and keep my work life separate from my personal live on my home computer by making separate accounts, the 2nd account always gives me a way to test things and change things for an account without being logged into it... even if i didn't want to make a user account for my job on my personal computer, i'd still keep an alternate account for testing things and as a backdoor to fix problem in my primary account... i've always loved unix since i first started using it in 85... an i'm SO glad that apple made the switch to unix, albeit a little later than was good for them. i think it is undeniably better for the users, the administrators, and even apple... the mac is quite a joy to use these days, IMHO... • I can't change the "open file" directory location

I've got a new installation of version HomeSite 5, which
works really well except that I cannot get the Open File dialog box
to go to the last directory I opened. So EVERY single time I want
to, say, get a graphic from a directory, I have to double click my
way down the path to reach the same directory I just picked up a
previous file from. It doesn't seem to matter whether I have
checked "Start in the folder last opened in the Files tab" or
"Start in the folder last opened in the file open dialog." The
"Always start in this folder" DOES work -- but that's not
    sufficient.
Is there somewhere else I need to change or check something
to get the Open File to always open in the directory I last
    opened?! (REALLY frustrating!)
    Thanks, Elenor

Not sure if this will help - you can dock 2 panes for files.
If I am working with a large site I will sometimes do the code work
in #1 open an images directory in #2.
    Hope that helps!

  • New Files in SQL Server Log Directory

Does anyone know which process generates files to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log.
I started seeing new files are added from yestoday. The file name pattern is like "ServerName_MSSQLSERVER_SQLDIAG_0_130632533281120000.xel".
    Thanks,

Can you right click and script the system_health session monitor? Check the corresponding path and name of the file.
Its enabled by default. The system_health session collects system data that can be used to help troubleshoot performance issues.
I think someone has created the file.

  • Change web server log timestamp to SQLServer timestamp

The format of a log entry in Apache web log is
    [10/Oct/2000:13:55:36 -0700]
Is there a more elegant way to convert this string into an SQL Server datetime than this:
    declare @ts char(28);
    set @ts = '[10/Oct/2000:13:55:36 -0700]';
    select dateadd(hour,
    convert(int, substring(@ts,22,3)),
    convert(datetime2(0),
    substring(@ts,2,11)+' '+
    substring(@ts,14,8)+':000',
    113) ) ;

    Hi LauriP,
If all the timestamps are in that fixed format, the most elegant way is to  concatenate the known length datepart and timepart and cast the concatenated string to a DATE type.
    declare @ts char(28);
    set @ts = '[10/Oct/2000:13:55:36 -0700]';
    SELECT CAST(SUBSTRING(@ts,2,11)+' '+SUBSTRING(@ts,14,8) AS DATETIME2(0))--OR
    SELECT CAST(SUBSTRING(@ts,2,CHARINDEX(':',@ts)-2)+' '+SUBSTRING(@ts,CHARINDEX(':',@ts)+1,8) AS DATETIME2(0))
If you have any question, feel free to let me know.

  • Agentry Server Log Settings Error

    Hi,
    I'm working on SMP 2.3 Agentry Server and want to change Agentry Server Log Settings. When I try to change "Server.Backend.Java-1" log settings, it gives error like this ;
I've tried to disconnect all users but it did not work.
    Best Regards,
    Serkan
    Tags edited by: Michael Appleby

    Serkan,
Another idea is to do it manually.
    Steps:
    1. Under your SMP 2.3 / Unwired Server / Repository / Application Directory or AgentryServer directory - find the AgentryLogging.ini and modify the levels 1 to 4 (4 being most detail) and Y for Yes - use a separate file.
    2. Stop / Restart your SMP 2.3 server from your Desktop Icon.
The steps above is not normally recommended as it requires you to restart the SMP 2.3 server. If it is successful from the SCC then no restart is needed. If you are in debug or development mode, I guess it is okay to know what files control the logging and what to edit.
In production mode, you never really want to do it this way due to the restart.
Let me know if it works for you.

  • Location of log directory with respect to data guard

I am working with Oracle 10g in Linux platform
I was during a switchover from primary to standby which failed due to the incorrect settings of log_file_name_covert parameter . To debug this case I was going through Oracle Documentation material for Data Guard ....http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/troubleshooting.htm
There I came across this para
When the switchover to change the role from primary to physical standby was
initiated, a trace file was written in the log directory. This trace file contains the
SQL statements required to re-create the original primary control file. Locate the
trace file and extract the SQL statements into a temporary file. Execute the
temporary file from SQL*Plus. This will revert the new standby database back to
    the primary role.
I was not able to understand what the trace file and log directory means ? Which is the location of log directory ?
    Can anyone please explain ?

It was talking about a trace will be placed under your background dump destination. As you would have using
alter database backup controlfile to trace;Check your background dump destination where your alert log is.

  • Change Software Update Service storage location - OS X Server 2.2

What's the best way to change the file storage location used by the Software Update Service in Server 2.2? I don't want to change the default "Service Data" location for the other services.
Generally I like to make as few changes to the standard configuration as possible, but in this case I need to make an exception. I'd really like to to get the catalog of update files on to an External Pegasus RAID.
I've tried using a symlink to the /Library/Server/Software Update/Data folder. That didn't work as the service was unable to update the catalogs.
Should I use a symlink on the whole  /Library/Server/Software Update/ folder or is there perhaps a better way?
With any potential solutions, how likely is is that changes I make likely to be overwritten with future updates.

    To clarify:
    1) As it was updating application data, I got an error message at the very end of the update saying that some application data may not be usable/work/wasn't updated (something to that tune) with a yellow triangle and exclamation mark inside it.  After the update, I rebooted the server just in case then let everythign start up normally.  All services turned on as per usual.
I have gone through most of my services that I run and I'll list off everything that I've tried out and it's state:
    Caching Server - Looks OK
Contacts - Functioning so far as expected
Calendar - Functioning so far as expected
Profile Manager - Was able to test a push profile add and delete with success
    DNS - Functioning as normal
Software Update - Looking good so far (I had issues with it stopping and restarting randomly with an interval of a month or two between events, hoping that is fixed, though it never affected functionality - it was in the error logs)
File Sharing - Working as expected
Open Directory - No issues thus far
    VPN - Looks OK
    Websites - Functioning as expected
    Hope that helps you guys!

  • How can I change the log file path instead of storing log in server.log

    Hi,
I have created one domain and modified the attribute "log-file" in element "virtual-server" element to point to the new log file path.
But when I start up my domain, it still saying: "Log redirected to DOMAIN_LOCATION/logs/server.log.
    Why?
Why it doesn't log to the file I specify? How can I change it?
    Thanks.
    Ken

I have changed the logging option to my specific path in admin console as what you said. I have also changed the logging in domains attribute too.
But still there is some logging info in domains/<dom_name>/logs/server.log instead of the path and file I specified.
Is it possbily related to linux user role setting? the Sunone AS is installed and configured by root user. But the domain is created for another user, hence I want to forward all logging info to that user's home path.

  • Help trying to locate local server applications directory in configuration manager

I am going through the configuration of lifecycle and I have no idea where the locaql server applications directory is.  Can anyone provide some hints.

I don't know if this will help or not, but with an executable jar file, the classpath is handled differently. All classes are expected to be contained in the jar and external classpath info is ignored. This may also be true in your case if the files are being accessed in that manner. You could try it out quickly by moving the policy and conf files into the jar and dropping the path info.
If that works, you can decide whether or not you want it packaged that way.
If it doesn't work, try unpacking the jar file and running it that way, instead of the executable jar. Again, if that works, you can decide how you want to package your app based on that information.

  • Change date/time layout in server.log to show milliseconds

    Hi,
I need to debug the JDBC session to find delays in my source.
I used following to get the JDBC debug info:
    -Dweblogic.Debug=weblogic.JDBCConn,weblogic.JDBCSQL
My problem is that the layout of the server log file does not show the milliseconds, it shows only the time with seconds.
    e.g:
    ####<Feb 20, 2008 5:33:22 PM CET> <Info> <JDBC> <xxx> <eFlexServer> <main> <<WLS Kernel>> <> <BEA-001132> <Initialized statement cache of size "10" for connection in pool "null".>
What can I do to see also the milliseconds in the server.lof file?
    Thanks for help.

Which release of WLS are you using? We had added a timestamp column in the server log from WLS 9.0 onwards that is the raw timestamp of the message in millis.

  • Oracle 9i Reports Services Server Log option

    Hi,
We are using the Oracle 9i Reports Services on NT and solaris. But I facing peculiar problem in Solaris
    1. Oracle 9i Reports is installed by our DBA with dba permissions.
    2. I as user is not able to run the rwserver.exe as it is saying that it did not have root permissions to write on the log files which are present in the directory: ORACLE_HOME\reports\logs\*.log.
3 My issue is that why Oracle is writing in the ORACLE_HOME directory which in most of the cases will be installed by dba.
    4. My question is how do I change the default ORACLE_HOME\reports\logs\ directory so that when my server runs it creates log in MY_DIR\log
    5. I have checked some option in the server.conf, there is one element for log which allows to set alljobs/succecedjobs/failedjobs/nojob. But even this option for nojob is not working.
It will be nice if somebody can help me on this.
    Thanks
    Ashish

    * If tracing is what you want you can give
    tracefile=<absoluteFileName>
in command line to give a user defined file
    * Other than this I think there is no way to change the default log location
    Other Options
    * Ask your dba to give write permissions for all in log directory
    Thanks
