Change binary and application files remotely, ex. Growl updates...

How coud you send info to a Mac application and have the app display updates, important info, etc.?

The best way to send info to an app is using APNS (Apple Push Notification Services). You can define the notification contents on the server side and the notification message can contain the alert to be displayed and any other data needed for the app (Though each message can only be upto 256 bytes).

  • Making change in original application file for new version

    Hi
    I am new to DMS.
I have a basic query about versioning of DIR.
I have created a DIR with status in Released.
I have attached a original application to the DIR. Now when I am creating a new version of DIR, original application file is also getting copied to the new version which is desired.
My problem is I want to make changes into original application file in new version of DIR and want to save. But I am unable to do so. It is not allowing me to change the original application file for new version which is desired for storing some ISO documents.
Is there any settings which I am missing?
    Waiting for reply ASAP.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Niraj Sikligar

    Hi
If you want to make changes in the "Release" Status, go to dc10, select Doc type and define status screen. Do not put "S" (Lock mode) for Status - Release
Also please check in new version , you are clicking on Edit symbol in Orginals tab, if u double click the file, it would open always in display mode , and it wont allow you to make any changes

  • Oracle binary and control files

    Hi All,
I want know whether the oracle binary and control files are they related in anyway.
I have my physical files on a SAN storage and my oracle binary files on a local disk.
In case if I delete my oracle binaries and restore it from a backup, will I be able to start my database without any issues.
Since all my oracle datafiles, controlfiles and redofiles are located in SAN storage.

Oracle binaries and control files are related in some way because Oracle version is recorded in control files:
    oerr ora 201
00201, 00000, "control file version %s incompatible with ORACLE version %s"
// *Cause:  The control file was created by incompatible software.
// *Action: Either restart with a compatible software release or use
//          CREATE CONTROLFILE to create a new control file that is
//          compatible with this release. When restoring Oracle binaries on UNIX you should take care about setuid bits on oracle executable to avoid local connection issues by non oracle Unix accounts.

  • Change "Services and applications" names in failover cluster manager

Hi. Id like to change "Services and applications" names in failover cluster manager for Windows Server 2008 R2.
I right click on one and press rename, but when i change the name and press enter i get the message "To rename this service or application please rename the Client Access Point via its property page"
It's important that we don't change the network name for the service

    Hi,
    Checkout this blog post
PowerShell for Failover Clustering: Let’s Rename a Few Things
But keep in mind if you rename the resources and you are using them in a script or backup you need to check this also with the new name.

  • Loading from a Flat file: Binary and Text File

    Hi,
Does anyone know what the difference is between loading from a binary file or text file?
    Ramon

    Hi,
the difference is that text files contain lines (or records) of text and each of these has an end-of-line marker automatically appended to the end of it whenever you indicate that you have reached the end of a line.
So what happens when we read from a text file is that the end-of-line character for the operating system that we are using gets converted into a low value end-of-string indicator and when we write to a file the appropriate end-of-line character(s) get written when we indicate the end of the line. This makes the reading and writing of text files much easier because the appropriate end-of-line markers are handled for us.
With a binary file none of these conversions take place. When we read a binary file the end-of-line characters for our operating system will be read into the string and treated no different than any other character. When we write to a binary file the only end-of-line markers that are written will be those that we code into the output ourselves and hence will be exactly as we code it regardless of the operating system that we are running on. This makes it much easier for us when the file does not contain straight text and the end-of-line marker does not separate lines of text but rather appears as part of the non-text data content of the file.

  • How can I change RAW and Tiff files to jpeg in Aperture 3

How can I change RAW & Tiff to jpeg in Aperture3

The purpose of Aperture is storing and managing image files including RAW and TIFF, generally users don't change the image format once it is in the library, there is no need.
If you want a jpeg version of an image for use elsewhere, you simply export it from Aperture, there are numerous ways of getting images out of APerture depending on what you plan to do with them, e.g. File>Export>Version gives you a lot of choices as to the format and quality of your exported file.

  • Change Disk and copy files

I've had Leopard installed for several weeks. Started using Time Machine with a relatively small external HD. I now have a larger external HD and want to start using the new one. I know how to switch to the new HD, but is there any way to get the previous backups moved to the new HD - and have it continue to backup from there? Can I just copy the files from one to the other?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Although I haven't tried this myself, I don't see any reason this should be a problem. You may be asked to enter your administrator name and password but beyond that it should be the same as copying any other folder.
I would also suggest that when you connect the new external drive that you go into Time Machine and select it again as your TM disk.
    Hope this helps.

  • I need help setting up the hard drive I'm my TC to upload and download files remotely

Can anyone tell me how to setup my TC hard drive to access VIA the Internet

Are you trying to connect using win7?
If so I have bad news.. it won't work. The TC only exposes AFP to internet.. not SMB. And there is no AFP add on for windows. You can only do it from a Mac.
People do open SMB to the internet on a strange port.. look it up if you want to infect your system and expose all your files to the internet.. there is no security doing this.. so I refuse to consider it an option.
The only real way from windows is to get a vpn router.. bridge the TC and use it plugged into the vpn device.. vpn into the network and you can safely use SMB.. you cannot do this directly with the TC. It might well have ipsec for icloud but you cannot access it.

  • Can TC used for cloud computing .. Like Dropbox? That I can upload and download files remotely. Any additional requirement?

I wanna buy TC but wondering if I can use it as a server for cloud ? Does it work with iCloud?

The TC is an extremely dumb box.. it is a back external drive inside a router.. it does nothing with the cloud.. there are no servers for media, downloading or anything else. Think of it as an Airport extreme pregnant, with a hdd baby.

  • CHANGED PASSWORD AND STILL CANNOT ACCESS ADOBE READER UPDATE

I HAVE CHANGED MY PASSWORD AND STILL CANNOT ACCESS THE ADOBE READER UPDATE

I think I may understand. There is no password from Adobe for getting an update. So, I think this is the computer's own administrator password, which you will need when you install most software. You chose it when you turned the computer on the first time. And if you forget it you have bigger problems than Adobe Reader.

  • How to identify binary vs ASCII file???

    Hello,
What is the best way to decide whether a file is binary or plain text?
    Thanks in advance.
    Chris.

Other than passing through the bytes, check that there are no bytes that you wouldn't usually have in a text file and pray that the file isn't in an "exotic" character encoding such as utf8?
There is no real difference. Both "binary" and "text" files contain bytes.

  • Win2K Briefcase and LabView files

    Greetz All,
I'm having a problem with the Win2K briefcase keeping LabView files synchronized between my desktop and laptop PCs.
Both are running Win2K and connected to our network. I do all my development on my desktop, and then sync the files to my laptop so I can go to the lab and run them.
Problem is, whenever I make a change to a .vi or an .llb file and try to sync from the top of the briefcase, it says they were deleted from the desktop and wants to delete them in the briefcase. However, if I open the briefcase and navigate down to the individual file that was changed and just try to sync that file, it works like it should.
Another problem is if I make a new file, .vi or .llb, the briefcase does not detect it.
Ive found a workaround for both of these problems, but its not a good one. According to M$ knowledge base article Q262080,
    ====================
    SYMPTOMS
When you copy folders that contain files into a new Windows 2000 Briefcase, the folders/subfolders are displayed in Briefcase, but the files are not.
    CAUSE
This behavior occurs if the For fast searching, allow the Index Service to index this folder option is not selected in the advanced attributes of the folder.
    RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, use the following steps:
Right-click the folder, and then click Properties.
On the General tab, click Advanced.
Click to select the For fast searching, allow the Index Service to index this folder check box, and then click Apply.
When you are prompted to apply these settings, click All folders, sub-folders, and files, and then click OK.
When you move the folder into Briefcase, the files are also moved.
    ======================
So I have to go into my Labview folder every time I make a change and turn this option off and apply it, then turn it back on and apply it. Simply turning it on once does not fix it. After I do this, all changed, new and deleted files are synced properly. The briefcase works correctly for all other types of files without having to do the above procedure each time I need to sync.
Has anybody had this problem? Im not sure if it does the same on NT or 98, all I have is 2000.
    Thanks

Using the Abort button to stop your VI is like using a tree to stop your car. It works, but there may be consequences.

I abandoned the usage of Briefcase long ago because of the strange
behavoir as you mention. A wonderful, free, alternative is
Comparator, which can be downloaded at http://softbytelabs.com/
It compares two directories and gives you the opportunity to update
    both directories. Good stuff.

I recently upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard on my MacBook and I noticed that I have more capacity on the Macintosh HD than before the upgrade. I checked my files and applications and they are still on my computer and nothing appears to be missing. Before the upgrade I had around 111 GB capacity with around 10.50 GB available on the Mac HD but now after the upgrade I have 119 GB capacity and 20.92 GB available. Can capacity on the HD change after an OS upgrade?

No, but the upgrade removed unneeded PowerPC code and changed the way free space is determined.

I keep getting a warning stating that the document could not be auto saved in pages. The file has been changed by another application. Then it says click save any way to keep your changes and save the changes made by the other application as a version, or click revert to keep the changes from the other application and save your changes to a version.
What in the heck does all that mean, and why are they trying to behave like a Windows product or a Microsoft office product. I just don't get it.
Why is another application changing my documents? It's like they've created a virus within their own programs. It's a pain in the neck and makes no sense.

I am also having the issue of a warning saying "could not be auto-saved in Pages. The file has been changed in another application. I then hit "save anyway", the warning will go away for a time, sometimes minutes, sometimes hourr, but then the warming reapprears saying the same thing. This is not the case with all Pages documents but it is the case with many.

  • Lost all files and applications installed after changing user profile in the registry of windows 8.1 pc

The original user profile on my windows 8.1 pc is C:\Apple\acer sm. I tried changing it to C:\Apple\Apple. After I rebooted my PC, I found out that all my files and applications are lost. What shall I do to recover them?
Your help would save my life. Thank you!

    Hi AppleMist,
We wonder if you changed the registry entry or path of user profile.
If you did that in registry please try changing it back.
After changing your user profile and reboot, system won’t read the profile you changed but a new user profile (C:\Apple\acer sm or TEMP) should be created by system. Try renaming this new one as acer sm.old and changing the apple back to acer sm.
It should works fine if you didn’t change file in profile, if it doesn’t work perform a system restore.
