Change Brightness, Contrast and Saturation of an image

Hi,
I have an 256 grey level image and I'd like to change the brightness,
contrast and saturation.
Does it exist a VI to do this?
If someone has an example, please send to me.
Thanks in advance,
Miguel.

Robert,
¿Where is the example? In ftp://ftp.ni.com or in http://www.ni.com?
Thanks,
Miguel.

  • How to Change Brightness, Contrast and Saturation of an image in LabWindows/CVI (Urgent) ?

    Hi All
I want to change brightness, contrast and saturation of an image, plz help me how it will possibe in labwindows/cvi
    Thanks

CVI does not include native functions to operate such changements on an image.
It may be possible that these functions are included in IMAQ library, but I never used ot so I'm not sure. In any case, this is an additional tool to install and it is not free.
Alternatively, you may need to search for a third party library that offers such functions.
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • Loss of contrast and saturation after import

    Hi,
I don't know why, but when I'm importing video files to Adobe Premiere Pro it automaticaly changes their contrast and saturation.
I tested it on another PC with trial version of Adobe Premiere Elements and same problem occured.
Since I'm a guy who likes to do most of the adjustments on the camera it's quite an issue for me. Is there any solution to this problem? I work on Canon 5d MK II and MK III

You said that you're comparing "screenshots of the same video...without making any changes". To me, trancoding a clip to another codec certainly IS a change, and I would not expect the two clips to be 100% identical, with some codecs providing better results than others, and Steven pointed out. Many factors at work, including the level of compression.
To my eye, the second clip of the bar scene looks better than the original, meaning there is a little more detail visible in the "blown out" areas above the subject's head, and most certainly more detail reclaimed in the black areas.
Another factor is, you didn't mention which video player you are using as that can have some effect. For instance, QuickTime Player is known to have gamma issues and many PC user just avoid it.

  • How can I manually adjust the contrast and saturation of my ACD23" display?

I've used Eye-One software with Gretag MacBeth hardware to calibrate both my ACD23" and my MacBookPro 1920x1200 displays. It worked pretty well, but my ACD23" remains much more contrasty and saturated than my MacBookPro. I'm a pro photographer and I need images to match on these two screens.
If there was a way to directly, manually adjust the contrast and saturation of the ACD23", I could fix this myself. Is there? Perhaps with some 3rd party software?

    Thanks for the idea, Fred,
Unfortunately, it does not help with this situation. It changes the contrast of BOTH displays, not just one. And, the displays are already set on "Normal" which is the minimum contrast. What I want to do is lower the contrast of just the ACD23.
Is there an ICC profile editor out there that would let me reduce the contrast and saturation of an ICC profile?

  • How do I configure the brightness, contrast and colour settings of the built-in HD Camera on iMac?

I have recently purchased an iMac after making the switch from PC.
I am struggling to find an app, or settings configuration where I can modify the brightness, contrast, color and white balance settings for the built-in HD camera. The online manuals didnt give me any answers so I thought I would turn to the communities pages for some help.
The room where the iMac is situated has a light behind me and I am facing the wall so not much light in front of me except the ambient light from the screen. Friends on FaceTime, Skype etc. say that the picture from the built-in camera is too dark and difficult to make out my face clearly. How can I fix this?
Any and all help is most welcome.
    Thanks
    UKRichard

I would move it if it weren't the main room light that is fixed to the ceiling. Not remodelling my house just for the iMac camera. On my old PC all the webcams came with utilities to adjust these settings, I am surprised Apple dont have something similar for free.
I did see another post about iGlasses here, but not sure I want to pay $10 just to adjust my camera settings

  • Why is Lightroom significantly altering the color and saturation of my images?

The past few weeks I have been working on a project that involves some very low key and low saturation images.
After creating the general mood and tone of the shots in Lightroom. I then export them to photoshop for retouching and final adjustments. I an exporting to photoshop in profoto RGB. The images open in photoshop looking just fine. I complete the work and save them. When I review the saved tiffs in Lightroom they are much much darker than my working file and signifigantly reduced in saturation (almost to grayscale). There is also a signifigant change in the image when moving from develop to library modes. I know there is always a small change, but this is a very noticeble and signifigant one. When I open the file in PS it looks ok. But when I export the file from LR as a jpg it is again washed out, darker and in general wrong.
This is onl happenign with thes elow saturation color images - All my other images work fine and export as expected, and this workflow has worked well for me for some time. Any thoughts would be apprecaited.

Here is side-by-side comparison of LR, Saved-back-to-TIF-in-LR, and PS versions that doesn't really show any difference other than the estimated sharpness of the CR2 being too much:
The LR settings applied to the CR2 are:  Exp -0.5, Cont +50, Clarity +40, Vibrance -60
    I have a calibrated normal-gamut monitor, not a wide-gamut monitor.
If you can provide your edited TIF file out of PS via copy.com I can test things with your exact adjustments, instead of guessing some reduced exposure and color settings.
As a comparison of what you're seeing, here is a all-in-one side-by-side of the three images you included, above, where you saved out of PS as sRGB, and in that case, the Library version seems less saturated than the PS and LR-Dev versions which seem similar:
For each side-by-side screenshot, above, I have opened it in Photoshop, which is untagged, and assigned my monitor profile, then converted to sRGB, so the screenshots, themselves, should look right when viewed using an sRGB colorspace.

  • QuickTimePro movie in Keynote -how to change brightness/contrast

I have slides in Keynote 3 with a quicktimepro movie - I need to lower the brightness and increase the contrast - I can do this within the quicktimePro app but do not know how to save it - can this be saved in quicktime pro? Also can this be done all within Keynote 3 and saved - Would be deeply grateful for any clues/directions.

Export Movie to QuickTime Movie and click the "Options" button.
One of the features is Filters.
I use the HSL Balance or the Brightness and Contrast filters.
    Note*
This is an all or nothing approach. The filters settings are applied to the entire file.
You could use Cut/Copy to create smaller segments from your source file and apply different levels of adjustment to each "clip". Join these new files together with simple Open/Copy then switch to another QT file and paste or add.
Be sure to use Save As so your source files remain untouched.

  • Brightness / contrast settings on color -RGB64 images

    Hello everybody,
I have some problem displaying RGB64. Is there any possibiliy to set the constrast / the brightness displaying the data? I know there is some solution for grayscale images and RGB32 images but I didn't found any applicable for RGB64. May somebody has a solution?
I have alos some trouble to convert RGB64 to RGB32 images.
    Best regard
    Joe

    Hi Joe16,
    This could help:

    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/10C8CFADB37710E786256AE300782419?OpenDocument
The RGB32 images, uses 8 bits for every color planes, so I asume that the RGB64, uses 16bits for every color plane. Check the NI Vision Concepts.

You can configure the the Image Indicator, to configure the display of these 16 bit images, in the Concepts Manual, you can see there diferent methods.
Let me know how it goes.

There seems to be a problem with QT pro 7 as it will not allow me to adjust the brightess, contrast or tint of a movie. V6 did allow this.

    QuickTimeKirk,
Thanks for the quick response. I'm using an ATI Radeon 7200 series card with 64 meg RAM. Not the biggest and best by any standards, but none too shabby all the same.
How did Apple make such an arbitary decision to disable a fundamental capacity of their software without making it clear when they invited people to upgrade to V7.
I for one would not have done so if I had known.
Sounds like I'm into whinge mode doesn't it; I'm not really, just disappointed.
Do you know what level graphics card is necessary to restore functionality? Is there a work round anywhere to be found/ Will Apple reconsider for a future revision? All this and more in the next episode............
    Yours disconsolately,
    Peter

  • How to change contrast and/or brightness?

i hope to know how can i change the contrast and/or the brightness of an image i have imported in my application.
    thanks
    (sorry for my english!)

You can change the brightness with an RGBImageFilter which converts the rgb values to HSV, increases the value, and converts back to rgb.

  • BCG Brightness Contrast Gamma - Looking for BCG function returning color table / lookup table coded in pure G and applicable to Intensity Graph or Picture Control

Looking for BCG function returning color table / lookup table coded in
pure G and applicable to 8-bit Intensity Graph or Picture Control. Do
not want to use IMAQ Vision is this particular application.  Any
    help is appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Don

Take a look at this color model software I put together.  (Don't concern yourself much with the basic programming at this point.). The color component generator subVI is borrowed from a LabVIEW example.
First look at test_color2.vi.  If you adjust the sliders of the various controls, you will see how it works.  You can see that for pure B&W images, brightness, contrast, and gamma (which I think I have coded correctly) are all fairly straightforward to modify.
Now look at test_color3.vi.  Here we try to adjust BCG for color images using the color model shown here where current color component clusters are carried into the BCG event cases via shift registers.  You can see that once color is introduced into the image, it becomes difficult to mix the colorizing with the BCG model.  And this is pretty much where I am right now.
Would be interested in comments / suggestions.
    Sincerely,
    Don

  • Contrast and color saturation way too heavy when viewing the movie in FCP:

When I view the clips on the same Mac they look neutral (outside of FCP). But when I drag them into FCP (6.06) it looks like my film already has been color graded (sort of). Too much saturation and too much contrast (the blacks are pretty solid). When I export the film it looks like it did in the beginning (neutral and low contrast). How may I adjust the preview contrast and saturation in FCP to show it more neutral (or like the clips are suppose to be)?

but why on earth is there no setting to adjust the gamma for the application itself (FCP)?
Because it isn't designed to be used in such a manner. You can't do this with ANY EDITING APP. Not Avid, not FCP, not Premiere, not Vegas, not Media 100. NONE of them do this. They are designed to just show you what you are working with. If you want proper monitoring, you need the proper gear.
And why is there a mismatch of gamma in the first place?
I can only guess. And my guess is so that you can see into the shadows more, in case there is something in the frame that shouldn't be. A person, a light, C-stand...whathaveyou.
Why could they not just have the same gamma for the finder QT and FCP?
Again, I can only guess. I am not a programmer. Because they wanted to make sure that you can see the image on ANY computer monitor, because there are so many different types of computer monitors, settings for those monitors. Look at a computer store and all those monitors...they all look different. But again, that is only a guess.
But would a calibrated monitor like Eizo SX2761 which is mostly for Photoshop working (stills) be good enough in a combo with for example MATROX MXO2 MINI?.
I doubt it. It is a COMPUTER monitor, and balancing for photo work and video work is VERY differnt. If you use the Mini, you need an HDTV at least, and a GOOD one. Or the regular MXO.
Or do I also have to buy a tv / HDTV?
Yes...you'd need a VIDEO monitoring device, like a TV.
And can you please recommend a decent HDTV (
A good PANASONIC model will work.

I tried something but It doesn't work for me.
I have used a class and implement a interface called ImageTonalityControll.
It has methods like getContrast(),setContrast(int val),getBrightness(),setBrightness(int val), and more.
following is the code I use-
LoginSuccessScreen is my class.  I have loaded one image in this class. But the there is no effect of changing Contrast on Image. Help me in this case..It will solve my other controls also. If U have your logic plz share....
    private void changeImageContrast()
    LoginSuccessScreen login=new LoginSuccessScreen(bp1);
    login.setContrast(50);//set contrast value 50
contrast=login.getContrast();//reading contrast value to check the result
    String s1=Integer.toString(contrast);
Dialog.inform(s1); //display the result on dialog
