Change BWA connection to another BW system

Hi,
We have a BWA that is connected to QBW system. We want (temporary) to disconnect it from QBW and connect it to TBW (Test system).
Do we have only to recreate the RFC connections to point to TBW ? are theres others steps  that have to done ?
Thank you for your help.
Sunny,

Hallo ,
Actually the process is so well described into  "Technical Operations Manual SAP NetWeaver BW Accelerator 7.20 for SAP NetWeaverBusiness Warehouse" at page 104 section :
Moving BW Accelerator Landscapes
Procedure
To move the box from one environment to another, proceed as follows:
1. Remove the test environment BWA indexes from the box. To do so, log on to the
development and/or test system, start transaction RSDDV, and delete all existing BWA
indexes. This step ensures that the queries in the development/test environment still
work, but are directed to the database.
2. Start transaction RSCUSTA and remove the RFC destination from the RFC BW
Accelerator entry.
3. Log on to one of the blades with the user <SAPSID>adm. Once you have deleted all
indexes from the previous systems, the index directory should be empty. Check that
the /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/TRX<instance_number>/index directory is empty. If
not, delete any remaining files and directories.
4. Start the TREX admin tool (stand-alone) [Page 137] on one of the blades by going to
/usr/sap/SID/TRX<instance_number> and starting TREXAdmin.sh or
TREXSetting.csh depending on your shell.
5. Go to the Connectivity tab page. Select the old connection and choose Remove
Connection. Select the checkbox for deleting the RFC destination in the old BW
system.
6. If RFCServer is on single threaded, select multi threaded in the combo box.
SAP NetWeaver BW Accelerator 7.20 November 2009
Administrating SAP NetWeaver BW Accelerator for Business Warehouse 105
7. Log on to all blades and check that the blades are all able to ping the new BW host by
name. If not, modify /etc/hosts/ accordingly.
8. Go back to the TREX administration tool (stand-alone) and go to the Connectivity tab
page. Configure the new connection by adding new logon information, and create an
RFC Destination in the new BW system. Choose Repair all and then Refresh until all
application servers have replicated the new configuration and everything is green.
9. Log on to the new BW system and start transaction RSCUSTA. Enter the RFC
destination in the RFC BI Accelerator field.
10. Go to /usr/sap/SID/TRX<instance_number> and call TREXSettings.sh or
TREXSetting.csh depending on the shell. Go to the exe/python_support
directory and start the BW Accelerator system check by executing the python
checkBIA.py script.
For more information, see BW Accelerator System Check [Page 119] and BW
Accelerator System Check Messages [Page 121].
11. Go back to the TREX administration tool (stand-alone) and go to the Configuration tab
page. Select Actions    Restart All Services & Delete All Indexes + Queues + Trace
Files.
12. Log on to the production system and start transaction RSDDBIAMON2
13. Choose BWA Connection Availability. The message in BWA Action Messages should
be BW accelerator services are fully available.
14. Start creating the BWA indexes using transaction RSDDV.
For more information, see Analyzing and Repairing BWA Indexes [Page 65] and
Using the BWA Index Maintenance Wizard [Page 39]
I did it for migrate one TREX/BWA 2 blades instance from QUAL to DEV and works ok.

  • 2 system PLM setup question - Connecting to another ECC system for master data

I have been tasked with setting up the latest version of PLM in our environment.  We have a free standing PLM Server (ECC 6.0 EHP7, SP2 with PLMWUI 747, SP3) that we would like to connect to another ECC system (ECC 6.0 EHP5, SP4 with PLMWUI 701, SP4) for its master data.  In trolling around google and the marketplace, there isn't any setup guide or anything that really explains what the options are.  Does anyone know what the possible setup options are or even better provide links to documents that show how to set this up?  Can PLM be setup in the way that we want it to be?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Steve,
Unfortunately there isn't a lot of PLM documentation available.
I'm not sure I really understand what you need, but in essence, the PLM framework was developed using the SPI technology. That is, the Service Provider Infrastructure, which is a technology to split the UI from the business logic behind it. The idea is, in the end, you can have one single DB, connected to multiple systems and different types of UIs. (you can find some more details here: http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SPI/Home)
As far as I know, you have to do some customization in SPRO and maintain views /PLMB/V_RFC_DEST and /PLMB/V_RFC_LSYS. Everything else is done by the PLM framework via RFC connections.
    Hope this helps you...

  • BWA connection to several BW systems

    Hi,
We have a BWA with 3 blades and the BWA is currently connected to only 1 BW system.
We want to connect he same BWA another BW system at the same time so the BWA will connected to 2 BW system.
Is is possible ? Is there any documentation on such installation ?
Is it true that each blade must be dedicated to only 1 BW system ?
    Thanks,
    Sunny

    Hi,
we talking here about a very rare case. The one side is, if it´s really supported by SAP and the other one is if it´s even possible. And yes it is possible to remove/deinstall/deconfigure one blade and reindex all to get only (in your case) 2 blades. So a index has always two parts. I have tried this in my last maintenance and it worked... But we have some more blades left and this was only for the operational time in maintenance not a solution over a longer time.
So in my opinion you can do the following (never tested and not recommended, you have to test this on your own risk):
    - just shutdown the application on one blade and reindex all of your indexes (you don´t have to deinstall/deconfigure it)
    - install a new instance with a different SID and user on this blade
    - configure your RFC connection in backend and on BWA Q-instance and index your indizes
It´s just like a normal TREX instance with some special agreements. This is just theoretical, but I don´t know any reason why it shouldn´t work. Just a new instance besides the existing one. This worked on TREX without problems and after reindexing it should work
It´s definitively note supported and you won´t find any official document from SAP.

  • Changing essbase connection to another shared services instance on another server

    Hi Everybody,
I'm working on 11.1.2.2 EPM platform and i need to change the essbase connection to Shared Services. I want to make it connecting to another instance on another server. So i think to launch the Configurator on the new server to connect the essbase to the new instance. However, what about the existing configuration? Do I need to unconfigure it? Is there a procedure that i could follow?
I hope i was clear... Thank you in advance for each considerations you could make about my issue.
    Regards,
    Maurizio

    Thank you very much John!
It is the solution! Uninstalling Essbase removes the shared services registries so i colud make it point to the correct instance....
    Thanks again!

Hi, recently purchased macbook 13", I have problem with sound when connect to my LG Smart tv with sound system. When i change sounds effect on my sound system also LG its all go quiet didn't have this problem with my laptop. Any advise ?

Some progess I see. To be honest, i would not waste your time with trying to connect using wireless.
You are likely to get poor connections and dropping out.
If its working using a cable, then there is no need to bother with giving me the network settings, bu see how it goes, because sometimes giving the TV a static IP address can give better results.
There is an example of a couple of powerline adapters on the diagram below. Just ignore the network switch unless you want to connect other devices which are near to the TV.

    1. On your computer, yes. Use Boot Camp, Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion, VirtualBox, or similar software.
    2. No; if you use an emulator, it may install system components. Back it up anyway.

  • Connect BW to another Source System

    Hello Gurus,
I have a problem. We have to connect a BW Dev System to R3 Dev System, but I want to do some DEMOS to my client so I need to connect the same BW DEV System to another DEV System (IDES). When I finish the DEMO I should connect this BW DEV System to R3 Dev System again.
Somebody knows some procedure to achieve this?
    Thanks
    Gustavo

I Think you should create a new Source system, and activate the content again in this new source system (RSA5).
Then you do the demos with the data of the new souce system.
    Hope it helps.

  • ITouch Firmware Upgrade - Can no longer connect to car audio system

I just upgraded to 3.1.1 last night on my iTouch and can no loger plug in and connect to the audio system on my Infiniti G35x. The iTouch shows that it is connected by the audio system shows that it isn't. I've checked the cables, etc and all is fine and can connect another iPod without any issues. Thoughts...?

This is a known issue that started with the 3.0 release, and it affects several auto manufacturers. I was hoping that 3.1.1 would fix this for my Honda, but no dice. Something changed either in the communication protocol or timing, but whose fault it is seems to depend on how many Apple products you own
You can step back down to the 2.x firmware ... search around for "DFU mode", I did it once and may do it again now that 3.1.1 doesn't solve this.

  • Can't connect to a directory system

I'm working on upgrading all of our OSX Servers from Tiger to Leopard.
Before this happens, I always test new server setups in my test lab.
I'm having a problem in this lab that I cannot figure out. All that I'm trying to do is connect a Leopard server (10.5.2) using 'Connect to a Directory System' to another Leopard server(10.5.2) that is an Open Directory Master.
I can do both forward and reverse lookups on both the servers.
LDAP server, Password Server and Kerberos are all running on the ODM.
I've added the server that I want to connect to the ODM into the computer list of the ODM's Workgroup Manager.
I've created a group of Kerberized Servers with that added computer in WGM.
I've added a Kerberos Record to the ODM which contains:
    diradmin for the administrator name
diradmin's password for the administrator password
The fully qualified domain name of the Leopard server that is going to connect to a Directory system
    diradmin as the Delegated Administrator.
I don't get an error message and the window disappears after I click add so I'm assuming the record is added.
On the server that is going to connect to the ODM, I open Open Directory Utility and I am able to bind this server to the ODM.
I next click on the Join Kerberos button.
The realm that first appears is LKDC:SHA1.763D1DFF494B476438C
I click on this and choose the Kerberos Realm that I created when I set up the ODM which is marked as (default)
I enter the username of diradmin
I enter diradmin's password for the password.
It tells me I have either an invalid username or password.
I'm pretty sure that the username is correct because if I use another username I get a delegation error that says this administrator has no delegated Kerberos Join authority. But if I go back to the diradmin username it gives me the invalid user name/password error.
Looking at the Password Service Server Log I get an error such as this when I try to join the Kerberos realm:
    RSAVALIDATE: success.
AUTH2: {0x47b35e1c6b8b4570000000200000002, diradmin} DHX authentication failed, SASL error -13 (password incorrect).
I've tried destroying the ODM multiple times. Rebooted both servers. Changed the diradmin password. Nothing works.
I'm at a loss for what to do next.

    Hi Tony,
Let tell you what I did.
    1. I created a dns record for the odm and member server on the odm
    2. Started up dns on odm
    3. I made sure both machines resolved correctly on both the member and odm using nslookup
    4. Started afp on the odm
    5. Configured Open Directory Master on ODM with the administrator diradmin
    6. Configured Directory Utility on the member server to bind to odm
    7. Made sure odm was the first one in list for authentication/contacts (it was the only one)
    8. Added a machine record for the member server on the odm. (Double checked that the MAC address was correct.)
    9. Added Kerberos record with the member server's FQDN with diradmin as the admin
    10. Went to Connect to the Directory System on the member system. It was already selected.
    11. Went into terminal on member server and ran the kadmin.local -q list_principals
It gave me the following output:

  • Problem connecting 7.1 speaker system to iMac

I purchased creative 7.1 speaker system yesterday (Model No: Inspire:T7900). The package contains a cable to connect iMac and woofer system. The cable has 4 pins to one end and 3 pin to other end. According to the manual, I connected the 4 pins to woofer system with the matching colors. Now the problem is how to connect the other 3 pin end to iMac. iMac does have only one analog out, if I connect any one of the plug, only 2 set of speakers are giving the sound and the output switches from speaker to speaker everytime I change the pin. Is there a way to connect all the 3 pins to mac so that all the 7 speakers will become functional. Please help me... I'm very much worried :(:(

I'm baffled at how you got it to work. I'd be humored to know what kind of loops you must have jumped through to get it going. Humored... and very much interested in the hack.
I brought one home from a Microcenter today for my PPC Mac Mini (10.5.2) particularly.
I've tinkered with it all day but it just is not producing any sound.
The manual instructions do not lead to results.
It does show up as a device by profiler. Alas Audio MIDI Setup is refusing to recognize the FireWave.
So I'm out $100 and am looking at another trip back to return it... unless it CAN really work.
    I've emailed Griffin.
Doesn't work on a 10.5.1 Mac Pro either.
I cannot find ANY devices that will do hardware decoding via firewire /or/ usb that are supported by 10.5.2 that aren't total overkill for what I'm using it for. This seemed like a perfect solution, but I'm really dissatisfied that it didn't work out of the box and with the lack of Griffin's support.
So please if you can help me figure this out I'd really be grateful.

  • Dynamically changing Universe Connection

We are in the process of implementing CM (Configuration Management) process to migrate the code from Development to QA to Production.
Currently we are taking the code from Development using Import Wizard and creating a BIAR file, move that BIAR file to QA server and using "InstallEntSdkWrapper.jar" we are importing into QA.
Sameway, when we want to migrate the Universe, Reports to Production, we are opening the universe using Designer, changing the connection to Production, exporting to Development Repository. Creating BIAR file from Development using Import Wizard, move the BIAR file to production server, and use "InstallEntSdkWrapper.jar" to import Universe, Reports to production repository.
Now the CM (Configuration Management) process says, whenever we create a BIAR file for QA deployment, we should check-in to Clear Case, once we test it in QA, and QA approves that there are no defects, we should migrate SAME BIAR file to production, without creating another BIAR
    file from Development.
The problem I am facing here is, because of security restrictions, Network Team stopped/closed Ports 6400 thru 6403, that means we can't connect any client tools (i.e Deisgner, Import Wizard) to any
    environment other than Development Environment.
I can't use the same BIAR file to deploy into production which was deployed to QA as that BIAR file points to QA Database.
Please let me know how to resolve the issue:
I am looking for a way to change the connection dynamically,
    1. Either by using any kind of parameters
    2. Change the connection using CMC or any other tool.
Or any other method to use the same BIAR file which was used to deploy in QA, and deploy it in production.
We are on BO XI R2 SP4
It is installed on AIX platform.
Is there any 3rd party tool ?
OR does BO has this option in Businss Objects XI 3.1 ?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
Check whether if you have drivers pointed to correct Database by creating a valid user to required DB in your local system.

  • Change LDAP Autentication under another LDAP Autentication

    Hi:
I have a BO Enterprise XI 3.1 Installation using LDAP Autetication, with users, objects created by users, permissions in universes, connections, ...
I have to change LDAP Autentication into another LDAP Autentication with same users but with different usernames (user NAME1 in actual installation will be user NAMENEW1 en new LDAP structure).
How can I make this changes without loosing objects, permissions, ... of NAME1 user?? (i should change NAME1 on NAMENEW1!!!)
I need some help (sorry if my english is not good. I'm spanish!!)
    Thanks

I'f I'm understanding correctly there is no automated process to do this. #1 look for LDAP script to create enterprise aliases (KB already exists). Then you need to remove the LDAP groups, then rename all enterprise users to thei new name, then update the LDAP plugin to new server, then remap LDAP groups (containing new user names) which can be set to auto append to the existing renamed enterprise aliases. Finally any security on the old LDAP groups will need to be recreated on the new ones.
I would recommend a BO consultant on this or you can try support. Backup your system FRS and CMS DB prior in case something goes wrong.

    Tim

  • Extending a wireless internet connection to another part of a building

We have a wrt54g wireless router connected to a quest dsl modem. we now want a wireless internet connection in another part of the building which is out of range of the wrt54g. the two areas are about 200 ft apart and i can run a cat5 cable to new area. Can i install a second wrt54g in the new area and how exactly do i configure it for security and connectivity.
    Thanks
    Gary

Yes, you can do what you described.   You can run cat5 cable if you want, but it will need to be very high quality (i.e. professional grade) cat5 cable installation to make a 200 foot connection.   If you are doing this yourself, I would suggest you start with good quality cat5e cable for such a long run.   And make sure the cat5e connection works before you string the cable.
You will also need to convert the second router to a WAP (wireless access point), by making a few simple setting changes.
For instructions on setting up your system, see my post at:

  • Right Way to change MBOs Connections

    Hellow Experts,
I'm really enjoying the communication here, and I got a new one.
Whats the right way of change MBOs Connections to SAP for instance?
    I tried 2 methods.
    Method One
Title: Its just too much Work
    Proceeding:
I start rebinding every MBO and  operatios to the new Connection.
    Drawback:
If i have 1 MBO it may takes 30 seconds if they are 40 or 50 mbos it will take a lot of time.
there are the output tables from bapis are recreated if dont they are deleted.
so you have to reimplement all the operations one again. and it as the adicional
problem that we all can miss something and do something wrong.
    Method Two
    Title: Simpler way
    Proceeding:
change the connection profile itself at workspace from DEV->QA or QA->PRD
    Drawback:
supposing that you want independence between the apps connections  like app1 is on DEV and ap 2 is on PRD.
this will led to N connections per N applications.
    DEV: (Development)
    QA: (Quality)
    PRD: (Production)
I would like to know if you guys have more approaches and what you think of this ones.
    Cheers,
    Laguerta

    Daniel Laguerta
I will never follow method one as suggested by you.
To add for the "Method 2", i will create a separate (new) workspace for different instance like DEV, QA, PROD.
eg. Once DEV is done, i ll export the whole project, and import the same in a new workspace for QA.
Create a new SUP QA and SAP connection profile
Change connection profile to each mbo and its operations.
And deploy to SUP QA Env
    Still it is time consuming.
there is another method (should be preferable)
Deploying mbo package from SCC instead of creating workspace and connection profiles.
Deploying MBO from Sybase Control Center (SCC)

    JK

  • Failed to open the connection after changing the connection in CMC

    Hi
    Below are our environment details:
    BOXI 3.1 SP3
    Solaris Sparc 10
    Crystal Reports 2008 Sp3
    Weblogic 11g
Our team is facing the problem as described below:
We have created Crystal Reports using JDBC connection and it works fine
    in an environment(SIT).
When we migrate these reports to the another environment(UAT) we get
the error "Failed to open the connection"
After migrating we indeed change the connection to Custom Database
    Login Information in CMC.
So to troubleshoot we installed Crystal Reports in UAT environment and
had to perform Set DataLocation after which
    the reports starting working fine.
Now when we are migrating reports to Production we have the same issue.
We cannot install Crystal Reports on Production this time and hence we
    are stuck.
Please let us know if any known workaround or solution for the same.
    Thanks

    Hi Meenal,
I am not 100% sure I understood the workaround of having Crystal Designer on the server. Can you connect from UAT designer to production and perform the same operation?
Check this KBA that describes this problem and a solution:
