Change calendar name first in ical or mobileMe?

I've consolidated some calendars into one "new test" calendar. checked and triple checked to make sure everything i want is in that one calendar.
i want to change the name of that calendar. it's synced with the new mobileMe calendar.
do i change the name on mobileme? or in iCal? both places? and if that's so, which one first? I don't wanna screw this up and have to go thru the considerably work i did to finally get the calendar in the shape i want it in.

Yeah, me too. After lots more reading and poking I was still reluctant to change in either location. So I called MobileMe support and they said change it in either place. The techie and I agreed it might make more sense to change it in the Cloud. I did, and within minutes the calendar names had also changed (with all data intact) in both iCal and BusyCal.
I use the latter because it puts icons in events that have alarms/alerts set. Maybe i said so before, but iCal used to do that and the (useful) feature was inexplicably deleted. I say inexplicably because not even the apple gurus at the apple booth back when apple had a presence at MWSF, could explain the deletion. Several of them seemed surprised when i told them--and then had to show them!

IPhone calendar not syncing to iCal or MobileMe

Using Lion and the latest software version on my iPhone: syncing iCal to MobileMe works in either direction. However, when a calendar event is typed on my iPhone it does not sync to anything on my iMac. Does anyone know of a solution?

FOUND THE ISSUE.
Check to see if your Gmail (or mail) is connected to your calendar. If it is, turn it off.
When using Siri, she was scheduling to my Gmail Calendar (which is also where the rest of my meetings were scheduled) That calendar would not sync with iCal on my computer.
So, on your iphone go to Settings>Mail, Contact, Calendars
Look under ACCOUNTS. There should be an iCloud account and your Mail account (Gmail, Yahoo etc)
Click on the mail account and look at the calendars. If they are ON, click them OFF.
Now if you go back to iCal on your phone, you will only see iCloud calendars listed under Calendars. So from now on, when you make a meeting with Siri, she will schedule it and it will appear moments later in iCal on your Computer.

Batch Change Version name to use Caption - for MobileMe Gallery

Hi, is there a way to batch change the version name files (which is what MobileMe can use to display under the picture) to use the Caption? The Caption is what I believe is/can be used in the regular galleries/web pages exported from Aperture, MobileMe seems to work a bit differently...

I don't believe that can be done with any procedure supplied with Aperture. Settings for a MobileMe Album only provides the choice of Filename or no filename. Whether there is a hack somewhere to switch Filename and Caption, en masse', I do not know.

Cannot change calendar name

Just upgraded to Lion. In iCal I try to change name of calendar. I type in new name but it reverts to old name. I try to create new calendar with the name I tried to change the old one to, but after I type in the name and press return the new calendar is named "untitled".

Quit iCal, and try removing the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Also go to the Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars Folder and remove any/all files with "Cache" as a part of the file name field.
To find the user Library, use Finder>Go>Depress the "Option" key>Library>Preferences. Drag the .plist file and Cache file(s) to your desktop, log out/in or restart and check iCal for any improvement.
If that does not work, are there any other clues about your setup that may be helpful?

How to change user name in OIM 11

I have a custom java class to generate unique user names based on last name + initials + numbers (for duplicates). We have this implemented in plugin framework and it seems to be working fine. But when someone changes his name (first, last or middle), the user names need to be recalculated. How can we automate this process?

I will suggest update your existing eventhandler and instead of Create operation use both CREATE and MODIFY operation under your eventhandler and your same code will be working fine.
Make sure you use EntityManager.modify to update userprofile.(don't use Usermanager.modify)
In MDS you can say Operation ANY
While writing code use: if (operation.equals("MODIFY") || operation.equals("CREATE")){

When I receive appointments by email and accept them they go into the enourage "on my mac" ical calendar which is not synced with mobileme. How do I change where appointments are put ?

Actually you can't drag the appointment to ano calendar - its says "You can’t make changes to this invitation., Only the organiser can change this event"
Also if you double click on the received appointment and open the window the only calendars shown that you can select are the 'on my mac" ones, and not the sync'd ones.
Any ideas welcome !!

I can't change the name of calendars in iCal 5.

I have tried clicking on the "calendars" button in the top left hand corner and selecting the calendar and re-typing it there, but it immediately reverts back to what it was. I have also gone to "get info" and changed the name there but it also immediately reverts back. Thanks for any insight!

With the help of tech support, I discovered that you cannot have two calendars with the same name. That was one reason why I was having trouble renaming my calendars.
Make sure each of your calendars has a unique name.

The other possibly related problem was that my iCal data was corrupted. That required a different fix.

Can I change the name of a MobileMe calendar on the iPad?

I'm trying to figure out if I can change MobileMe settings from my iPad. Specifically I'm trying to change the name of one of my calendars, which I know I can do from my Mac Mini at work.

Ical or Calendar (or whatever) doesn't detect dates and calendar names anymore!

Hi everyone.
I used to have a weekly email created with automator and ICal, parsing a specific calendar by its name, and creating
a list of events occurred in the week (monday to sunday) to send. I used an automator ical alarm for this (now called automator CALENDAR alarm???).
It worked like a charm.
Enter Mavericks.
It's doesn't work anymore.
Couldn't open the file. So I set to edit it and re-create it, but to no avail.
I've tried to debug it, by going down to basic actions and their output, and I found out that for example:
- A one action workflow, find calendar events, with date starting this week, doesn't work!
No output, when I have pretty many events occurring in the week.
It doesn't work even if I change the condition (today, or 2 days from now etc...)
- Another single action workflow (still for testing purposes), filter calendar where title contains any calendar name returns nothing, while there are many calendars in the app!
Can anyone help?

When I send an Invitation from my iPhone calendar, the receipient sees the wrong Name. How can I change the name of my calendar??

I think I solved it..
In my case, first invites were sent from a wrong email.. Then, the my email was correct, but it said the creator of the event was someone else..
To solve it I logged to appleid.apple.com and checked my valid emails.. There were wrong emails associated with my account. This didn't solve my problem.
My apple ID is @gmail.com and I changed it for another account I have that is @yahoo.com
Then I deleted my iCloud account on my iPhone (keeping all my info), and then logged again with my new apple ID,and merged.
Somehow this updated my info, and when I send an invite the info is correct!

Synced ical with mobileme, now can't edit calendar

Hi, I synced ical through mobileme thinking mobileme would serve as a "backup" for my ical. I use ical on my macbook and don't check the mobileme calendar.
but now i can't write on my ical when it is open on my macbook.
how can i change the settings so that i can use ical on my macbook and have it backed up on mobileme?
if this is impossible please tell me how to restore the original settings and get my ical off mobileme.

Hello Doxiechick and welcome to the Palm forums.
Are you sure you are syncing with Microsoft Outlook and not a Microsoft Exhcange server or some other corporate email system? If you are syncing a Palm OS device, like the Centro, to Microsoft Outlook, the default database files don't get deleted. My guess is that there is something else going on here, especially if you have contacts on your Centro.

How do change calendars in ical just updated to mt lion?

I just upgraded to mt lion and thus upgraded ical in the process I seem to have lost the ability to switch calendars for an already created event. Any suggestions how to get this feature back?
By the way my computer and files are not connected to the cloud and only sync with my iphone, so it is not a syncing problem although some events do seem to not sync to my phone.

Thanks for the question. You are definitely able to change the calendar an event belongs to after creation:
Calendar: Update or delete an event

If you created an event, you can change any of its settings.
Calendar it belongs to
Double-click the event, click Edit, and choose a calendar from the Calendar menu.
You can also simply right click on the event and choose "Calendar > [calendar name]"

IPhone Calendar Entries No Longer Sync With iCal or MobileMe Account

I've been experiencing this for a few months now, and was hoping someone might have some ideas on how to fix this issue I am having.
Every time I enter a new entry onto my Calendar from my iPhone... those entries do not show up on either my Desktop iCal or Mobile Me account online (this used to work). However... if I enter a new entry on either my desktop or Mobile Me account... those entries do show up on my iPhone.
I do not sync my Contacts or Calendars using iTunes. That is turned off. I sync through MobileMe.
Any help would be appreciated.

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Select your MobileMe account.
Turn Calendars off for over the air syncing. A warning message will be provided indicating your MobileMe online calendars and calendar events will be deleted from your iPhone with an option to keep the calendars on your iPhone or delete from your iPhone. Select Delete from My iPhone.
Follow this by turning Calendars back on for over the air syncing.
Enter a new calendar event on your iPhone to test if the new calendar event shows up with your MobileMe online calendar and with iCal on your Mac.

Curiously, the most recently inputted entries do sort properly, as do all company entries.
Does that mean "most recently inputted" AFTER you upgraded to Snow Leopard?
If that is true, it would mean that something about your existing records before the upgrade, for the records that are people contacts (with first and last names) instead of business contacts, do not agree with Snow Leopard and/or Snow Leopard's version of Address Book.
This may not be feasible, but if you exported the records with this problems and then imported them, maybe they will be re-inputted so that are properly sorted.
If you use Time Machine, maybe you can use the +flying through space+ interface to restore one of the records with this problem to see if the restore process makes the record sort properly.
