Change default events stop time

Hi there,
Is there any way to change the default start and stop time for new events?
When I make a new event, always stop one hour after start time
I want to make 20 min events
Any hack?
thanks and excuse my english.

Hi, It's interesting that you say recordings from Freeview should be as you say. Does this mean that my Vision box's time is out? Where does it take it's time sync from I wonder. As the box is connected to The Internet, it could sync from a time server the same as a PC does. I'm not having problems with programmes overrunning and that clashing with a scheduled start recording time, I can see that would cause a problem. It's the fact that recordings are starting 2 minutes early. I have watched this happen a number of times because when you are watching, you have a message on screen asking you what to do, stop recording the current programme, or not record the one that is starting. If you happen to be looking at the Vision box when that happens, usually by stopping the current recording, you can get away with that, as most programmes are over well before the actual end time. Then the new recording will start. But if you're not looking at the Vision box, it makes it's own decision, which is usually not to record the starting programme. Although I don't record any of the Multicast channels, if I did, the the fact that they start 2 minutes early would cause a problem. Why do they start early? It just causes unnecessary annoyance. Thanks for replying though.

I don't think you can in iTunes.
Multiple editing in Get Info does not offer an option to change start/stop times.

  • Changing default still image time from 150 frames to timecode option?

I want to change the default duration for still images under Preferences in CS6. It is showing up as 150 frames by default. Is there a way to change this so I can just enter it as timecode 00;00;03;00 instead?
    Thanks.

Most of the time, 30 frames per second is a safe way to calculate things on a 29.97 sequence. If you really have a problem with that, and many animators do, since you are using still images, use a custom setting for your sequence. Create one using 30 frames per second and use non-drop frame timecode. Use square pixels and No Fields (Progressive).
Now, if you are turning this over to someone for use in a commercial, for example, where the exact number of frames is required so that 30 seconds is not exceeded, then that is a different story.
Your second question - sorry - but you really want to determine the duration prior to importing the image. Once you have the image in the project, the duration is already set and must be changed for each and every one individually. As far as I know, you can't set one and then copy the duration to the others.

  • HT1349 cant change start and stop time on aac file using PC

I am trying to create a ringtone for my iphone.   So i created a AAC file of the song i wanted as a ringtone.  And I am doin exactly what the videos say.  So when i click Get INfo on the AAC file, it says i am supposed to be able to change the start and stop type. but it doesnt allow me to do so.

Set the start/stop where you want. Then right-click on the song in your library and choose "Convert Selection to mp3." This creates a new shorter file, files it by artist/album, and adds it to your library. It will play correctly inside or outside of iTunes.
After you've confirmed the new one plays OK, you can either keep or delete the longer original, as you wish.
Note that the above assumes that the source file is unprotected, which is true in your case, since you are starting with an mp3.

  • How do I tell what songs have altered Start/Stop times (Under "Get Info-Options") without opening every single song.

Sometimes, for whatever reason, I'll change the Start/Stop times of my songs, and I'll forget which ones I've done this to. For me, this can be a hassle, due to the number of songs I have, and the actual amount I listen to my iPod. I'll admit that it's my fault, that when I'm making a ringtone or simply shortening a song temporarily, I'll almost definitely forget to change that shortened time back after I'm done. But that moment when you're listening to a song and it abruptly ends, especially in a place I don't have access to iTunes (and in that situation I usually forget before I get home, exacerbating the problem even further), it can be the most annoying thing ever for me. I don't want to deal with it any longer, though, so here's my question:
How can I view which songs have altered Start/Stop times, without needing to view the Info for each individual song? I can't select all songs and then select "Get Info", because if I do that it won't even show the Option. The only reason I'm here is because I tried to figure it out myself, for weeks on end, and have returned no valid options for solution. So can someone please help me?

Customize the Finder window toolbar, adding the Path icon to it. Select an item and click on the Path icon or, as you already know, add path to the window. There's also copypath.app available via the App Store.

  • Modifying a CD track's stop time affects other tracks on the disc

Previous topic locked. Bug still present with iTunes 7.3.
    <hr>
I've reported this same bug via the feedback form for a number of versions of iTunes, I believe going back to version 3 or 4, but here it is again for the pile.
Setting a custom stop time for an individual track on a CD (track -> Get Info -> Options -> Stop Time) affects other tracks on the CD in addition to the one being modified.
For example, if you set one track to end at 2:30, ALL tracks prior to and including that track will now end at 2:30. If one of those tracks is actually 2:10 long, it will play in its entirety and the track immediately following will play for 20 seconds before it ends and goes on to the next track. Tracks after the modified track are unaffected (unless the track being edited is the last track on the CD, in which case ALL tracks on the CD are affected).
I would like to set stop times before ripping CDs to remove dead space commonly added to pad out "hidden" tracks, but this long (long, long, long) standing bug makes this nearly impossible.

Adjusting start and stop times is a feature for
playback of files in iTunes, not for CD ripping. Even
if the program allows you to modify these values for
an audio CD prior to importing it, it still is not a
reliable way of ripping a CD.
Yes, but there's a difference between "may not be frame-accurate when playing/ripping" and "will radically affect tracks other than the one edited when playing/ripping".
Instead of using your current work process, why not
just rip the CD in a lossless format such as Apple
Lossless, then adjust the start/stop times of the
desired tracks in iTunes and convert the files to
another format. There will be no loss in sound
quality in this case, and your problem should be
    solved.
I could also buy Fission to losslessly edit the ripped mp3. But for such a basic task (that worked from SoundJam through at least iTunes 3) it would be nice to handle it during the rip instead of going through multiple steps (currently, I rip all tracks but the one that needs editing, then change the start/stop times for that one and rip it on its own).
I ended up filing a bug report, which is what I should have done originally.

  • Changing default "From / To" Event time from 12:00AM???

I've giving up trying to find out how to change the default From / To time for an event to something more reasonable than 12:00am. Does anyone know how to do this, so that when you create an new event, it is created with a time other than the default, without having to go in and override it each time an event is created? Thanks.

    durrace,
First, refresh the the com.apple.iCal.plist file. You will find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, drag the com.apple.iCal.plist file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart.
Then before restarting iCal, open System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats>Region: and set/reset the appropriate region.

  • Changing the Default Event Time Length?

    Hello,
Is there anyway to change the default event length from 1hr? Nearly everything I schedule is 30min long and it's a pain to always have to change that.

    npatelaz,
I don't think that it is possible, even using Terminal. If you want to change your workflow, "all day" events can easily be created in the Day/Week view, but as you stated the Month view poses a problem.
    Calendar Help says:
    To make:
An event that lasts all day:
In Day or Week view, double-click in the “All-day” section at the top of the calendar.
An existing event last all day:
In Day, Week, or Month view, double-click the event, click the date, then select “All-day.”
    A multiday event:
In Week view, drag from the start time to the end time. You can drag across multiple days.In Day or Month view, create an event. Then, enter the start and end dates and times.
An all-day event into a multiday event:
In Week view, drag the all-day event across multiple days.

  • Changing Appointment STOP Time From One Hour to Half-Hour.

On my desktop and on my Centro, appointment "stop" times always default to one hour from the "start" time. I would like to change this so the default is to a half-hour interval. However, I cannot find a setting for this, either on my desktop or on the mobile device.
I'm changing the "stop" time manually for each entry, which is inconvenient. Is there any way to make it automatic?

  • Can I switch calendars (Ex. "night shift" to "day shift" cal) with a repeating event, but ONLY for that one event??  It asks "for all events or only this event" if i change the time.  But it changes ALL events when i try and switch calendars.  Any help??

I have 2 calendars set up for my work schedule, a "night shift" and "day shift" calendar.  I've set up repeating events fro Fri/Sat/Sun 3-11pm "night shifts" and Mon/Tues 7am-3pm "day shifts".  But lets say for example that I swap shifts and instead of working nights on Saturday like I normally would, I am now working days.  I want to change that in my calendar.  When I go to change the event, if i change the TIME it asks if i want to change all event or ONLY this event.  no problem....just this single event.  but when i go to change the event from the "night shift" calendar to the "day shift" calendar, it changes ALL the repeating events, and not just that one single event.   can anyone help with this???  am i doing something wrong?  is there a way to do this or not with the new iCal program???  i used to do this and never had any problems.    Thank you!

You need to follow iPhoto terms since we only know what you tell us
what are you calling folders - in iPhoto folders can not hold photos - albums hold photos and folders hold albums or other folders
The basic default view of photo is by event (iPhoto '08 and later)
Exactly what you you trying to do?

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.
    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • How to change default alarm sound for events

I remember initially when setting up ical, it gave an option to set a default sound for messages. I want to change the sound, but cannot find the option to do so. currently when creating a nerw event, the message with sound option shows up with the default sound (Basso) that I selected initially. And I have to change it manually every time a new event is created. Is there a way to change the default sound?

Settings > Sounds > Calendar. Maybe it was inaudible because yoursound was not turned up.

  • Why can't I change invited event times?

The idea that "only the organizer can change this event" -- which is the error message I get when I try to move a meeting created in my calendar by email invitation -- is completely broken from a usability perspective. Let me explain.
I accepted a meeting yesterday for 3:00 today. Earlier today, I got a phone call saying the meeting had been pushed half an hour later, so I flipped to iCal to adjust my calendar. And it won't let me. In order to do so, I'll need to delete and recreate the item, which is just silly.
It's also silly to lock down any data in MY calendar. It's mine, after all; I should be allowed to move or change anything in it. Pop up a warning if I'm tweaking something I've subscribed to, or changing an invited meeting, but don't force me to do extra work to accommodate a normal business scheduling event.

Check out the Sorting options in the View menu. Manua sorting is possible in Albums. If you can't do then try trash the
Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
    Why the Limitation?
Events aredesigned for people who don't want to organise. They are fully automatic, based on the time and date the photo was taken. The point where you want to manually organise them is the point where you've outgrown them, and need the much more flexible structures offered by Albums, Smart Albums and keywording.
    Regards
    TD
